Fast and cheap. Echoing what others have said, it's cheap and greasy-- two ingredients to aid your hangover and/or lazy self. Most combo plates run you under $8 and you get an egg roll and fortune cookie, too. You can pick from any fried rice and pay a quarter or two extra for any special fried rice or lo mein (lo mein is a plenty!) You're easily leftover with enough food to last you throughout your hangover, or share with others if you're kind. The BBQ spare ribs were inhaled by the mini one with us - and a stolen bite by me confirmed they were delicious. Seven Star's Garlic Triple was really great - beef, seafood and chicken with GARLIC. While some may find their noodles to be a little oily, I'm giving them 5 stars because, at a time when so many restaurants in the area have dropped standards during COVID, Peking has honestly never wavered. Is it high art? No. Is it EXACTLY what you want when you order late night Chinese takeout? Yup! It fulfills that promise two-fold. Their delivery drivers are polite, drop food off right at your apartment door, and they usually arrive 20 minutes earlier than promised without the food tasting like it was rushed or undercooked. I'm ashamed that I haven't written a review yet. I've been ordering from Peking for 12 years. No lie! I love them for what they are. Quick, inexpensive, consistent, and tasty. My boyfriend and I order out at least twice a week and sometimes we have Peking multiple times in that period. When days run long we know that their deliveries are usually faster than even GurbHub quotes. When I'm indecisive, I love this place. I always know what to expect. It's never better and it's never worse. Always delicious! You can't beat that with a stick. I'm one of those people who can sometimes be liberal with the modifications. Over the years, they have come to know my tastes. They will call to double check if I forget to omit or add certain ingredients, just to make sure. That's a level of customer service that's uncommon among places at this price point. In all the years that I have ordered here, they only got my order wrong once. They were quick to correct it and can right over with a piping hot replacement. For those of you who've had one bad experience or maybe even two, consider that everyone has a hiccup every now and then. Cut them a beak. The lunch specials here are so awesome! For less than $7, you can get any of their dishes in a lunch special size which is the perfect portion (not too large and the variety is awesome - a meat and carb in one!) for during the day. It comes with the dish of your choice and vegetable fried rice. I ordered the beef and broccoli and pepper steak lunch specials which were both tasty. This is a great way to try out any dish that you are not sure of or get a variety of dishes. For Chinese food, I did not think it was too heavy when I got the lunch special. My wife ordered delivery and her cell phone wasn't getting full reception as it cuts out on rare occasions. The delivery driver somehow got through both gates that require a code and started pounding on our door. I greet him and his face is red as an apple and he starts screaming at me over, and over, and over. Apologies apparently aren't good enough and he refused to get the hell off my entry way. This is officially my new favorite Chinese takeout restaurant. I went the other day after accidentally skipping lunch so I was not doing my best. I ordered the sesame chicken and could not have been happier. Everything was fresh and the amount of sesame chicken was spectacular. There were only four pieces of broccoli which was perfect for me as I am trying to trick myself into liking the things. I can honestly say I enjoyed those four little trees. I got my most recent order through GrubHub. The food is decent and I do appreciate the fact that they give you a lot of crab rangoons in one order. However, I don't appreciate that they're now using smaller containers for their "large" entrees (like sweet & sour chicken) so you get noticeably less food than before. Very sneaky! Didn't think we would notice? Also, someone didn't seal the sweet & sour sauce all the way, and as a result it leaked all over the inside of the bag. Yuck! Love this place. We have done takeout from Peking Chinese Kitchen many times and I am finally getting around to writing a review. We love this place! Is this the finest Chinese food in the city? Probably not, but is it delicious food for the price paid? Yes! We are value players and this place is good food at a great price. We love the daily lunch specials! We each get a large bowl of hot sour soup, fried rice, and an entrée. The cost for two people is about $16 out the door. The meal is very filling. The Mongolian beef is our favorite so far but be forewarned-their egg rolls are not that great. This is a classic Chinese take-out restaurant. Had a hankering for Chinese the other night and since my usual takeout place was closed, decided to give Peking Chinese Kitchen a try. Located just a couple blocks from my place, it was easy to order online and very short estimated 15 minutes till my order was ready. The interior is cute, and very on par with other Chinese takeout restaurants. The staff was also super nice! Noticed they had an affordable lunch deal that looked good, but I opted for an order of pot stickers, fried rice, and pork lo mein. The stand out were the dumplings! 8 huge dumplings, fried and stuffed with a delicious filling. The dipping sauce was good as well. The lo mein was good as well, a bit oily, but a nice sized portion and honestly tasted even better the following day heated back up. The fried rice was just okay, a bit bland, and probably wouldn't order again. Overall, I was impressed and would order here again when my usual place is closed. First, I don't think I'm just a fan. I'm like the die hard fan who dresses up as a sesame chicken for these guys. They are good. You can talk all you want about this place not being authentic Chinese, but if you walked in then you obviously knew that in the first place, after all, this little sanctuary in almost a dungeon, just a little hole in the street. But man, it's a huge treasure! I've been here twice, had it once for take out, and ordered about 20+ deliveries. Oh yeah, you read that right. I'm more than just your typical regular. I love Chinese, and what makes this particular restaurant better than others is a combination of things: 1) Consistency. All the time I've experienced the same savory moment with these guys. Their meals are solid, you get what you always get, no funny surprises, no sauce going bad. It's all good. I've tried their 4 Seasons twice (amazing by the way). When I order though, I go for the sesame chicken, the Peking duck, or the Hunan duck. They are my personal favs, and are always guaranteed the taste just like they did the first time. The duck is particularly good, crispy and tangy, a delicious treat! I've also tried their orange beef, sweet and sour chicken, mongolian beef, and their shrimp with lobster sauce...but none of these capture the essence of the place. 2) Huge portions. I'm serious, you will get a box to go, and if you order out then you'll have enough for two meals. How cool is that? 3) CHEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAPP! If you take their lunch deal, you get a combination plate + soda + egg roll for any price between 4-6 bucks. Hell yeah. If you miss it, then their meals are usually under 6 bucks anyway. If you want appetizers, get their crab rangoon, is very well done, and they have a great deal on it (4 bucks for 10 pieces). 4) Super fast delivery. Seriously. I actually go to this place about once a month. It's not for everyone though. It is greasey, but it's cheap. They have combination meals for about $6-$7 that comes with a large egg roll, your entree, fried rice, and a fortune cookie. Lunch here also includes a drink. I've gotten a lot of things at this place and my favorite is the Seseame Chicken! It's just right. Just sweet enough and great mixed in with the fried rice. I also think the egg roll is one of the better ones I've had in the area. Keep in mind that this place is a pretty typical Chinese Take Out joint. I love that it's family owned and the same people are there virtually everyday. It is what it is. You get what you pay for here. I can't say anything for the customer service or delivery, as I usually walk in and pick up the food. but as far as greasy, terrible for, but delicious westernized Chinese food goes, this is on point. and unbelievably cheap, As far as Lakeview goes, there aren't a lot of options for Chinese food. I've had Jin Asian Cuisine on Belmont (pretty bad), Mark's Chop Suey (mediocre), and Ping Pong. Which are really some of the only, few options in Lakeview (with a few others I haven't tried). Ping Pong, is great, but not Westernized Chinese, and is a little too classy for occasions that you want plain takeout like Sweet and Sour Chicken, Fried Rice, and Crab Rangoon. As to the people who complain about Pad Thai, I would say it makes zero sense to order Thai food from a Chinese restaurant run by Chinese people when there are 20 other Thai restaurants like Joy's or Diva in the area. But seriously, at what other restaurant would you be able to get Broccoli Beef, a fried rice, and a can of Coke for $6 which runs me about the same or less than my order from Subway. You can eat for three days on $14 bucks, like the last time I got an order of Fried Rice, an Egg Roll, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and ten huge Crab Rangoons for $14. From any where else in the area, that may have run me at least $25-$35. Although, I'll admit that it looks a little sketchy, it's extremely affordable and delicious and I would say its worth at least giving a chance to since it is so cheap. I liked how they served the chicken separate from the sweet and sour sauce for dipping. It prevented the chicken coating from getting soggy. But, there was so much coating that I felt like I barely had any chicken. Their fried rice is horrible here. I've never eaten fried rice like this before. What's not so amazing - delivery driver was rude, and all of the food is now in the garbage. I am a huge fan of greasy, unhealthy Chinese food when I want to splurge (or am recovering from a hangover :)), but this was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I am a fan of Peking now. I went there for the first time this past weekend while nursing a hangover. I got a cashew chicken. It tasted solid and was a decent amount for the price. They also had coupons on the menu for 2 free egg rolls with a purchase of $10 or more. I was with my roommate, so we got an extra egg roll on top of the ones we got with our combo plates. When I called to inquire, the lady who took my order rudely informed me that it was "my fault" and that she "didn't have time to fix my mistakes." I hate giving a poor review, but here it is! The order was accurate and the delivery was early, but the food was meh overall. We ordered the crab rangoon, and while they gave us a lot of them, it felt like mostly fried dough than the actual filling. We also ordered the General Tso's Chicken combo (best dish of the three we ordered), and the Chicken Curry, which was not spicy at all and overall pretty bland tasting. We took advantage of the coupon that gave us a free veggie roll and chicken fried rice because why not? I had been ordering from Great Dragon during my time in Chicago and since it is quite a trek out of the way, it always would take about an hour for delivery. I knew there had to be another option in my neighborhood and I found it. The first time I ordered in, standard hole in the wall seating area. A little bigger than average. Since then, I have only gotten take out. It arrives to me in about 20 minutes, blazing hot, in insulated bags. Crab rangoon, 10, 10! for $4.00. Sesame chicken is awesome, and can make for like 3 meals. Egg rolls are great, with a hint of sweetness. They give you a huge tub of the bright red sweet and sour sauce and give you the packets as well. If you order online there are coupons for free stuff, too! Did I mention this place is super reasonably priced? HUGE thing of sesame chicken (comes with rice), extra side of rice, 4 egg rolls (2 free egg rolls), 10 crab rangoon, delivery charge, and a 20% tip for under $25. read more

This is the best Chinese takeout in the city. I love it, I recommend it, I swear by it. (In fact I have often joked that I can't move away from the Boystown/Belmont neighborhood because I need to be within Peking's delivery radius!) The food is inexpensive, always tasty, and the portions are huge (we always have leftovers). The delivery is (normally) very speedy. I've had a couple of long waits and miscommunicated orders, but hey, in the 5 years I've lived in the area, I've probably ordered from Peking 75 times, so it's not so bad.
