The staff member was incredibly rude, telling me they were closed and to come back at 3:30 PM--despite the fact that the door was unlocked. When I politely pointed out that it was 3:45 PM, she gave me a nasty look and snapped that I should come back at 4 PM or not be served at all. The attitude was completely unnecessary. Ate beef noodle soup, XLB, scallion pancake, etc every weekend as a child well into my college years. Growing up, our go-to was always 369 Restaurant in the 99 Ranch Market Plaza in Anaheim (iykyk). In college, I loved (and still do) A&J in Irvine and Ding's Garden in Rowland Heights/Irvine. My dad has been ordering these items from Peking Restaurant every weekend for the last 5+ years now. Since moving out, I'm no longer spoiled by weekly beef noodle soup/XLB but will have a strong craving every now and then. Last weekend was one of those days! I placed a phone order for beef noodle soup, XLB, and guotie (potstickers). I was informed order would be ready within 20 mins. I let my parents know I would be bringing it to them for lunch. Everything was delicious and how I had always remembered. Taking one star off as the only disappointing part was that I had requested over the phone that the guotie not be burnt (as my dad had received it burnt multiple times in the past). When I arrived, the server confirmed with me it wasn't burnt.. but it was :( .. my mom was shocked at how burnt the pieces were (but being the caring and giving mother, proceeded to grab the two most burnt guotie for herself to save the better pieces for us) She was so hungry she had already started eating before my dad and I even joined the table lol. I've been wanting to try their Lu-Ee beef rolls for ages. Finally tried them and they were worth the wait. I was amazed how huge the portion is, it's hard to tell from photos. It's two layers worth taking up an entire Styrofoam container. It's a thin crispy crepe that has to be deep fried and it's rolled with melt in your mouth beef and green onions. The beef tastes like it was marinated in plum sauce. It looked beautiful, smelled wonderful, and tasted heavenly. I split it with my wife but I could have easily gorged myself on the entire portion and gone into a food coma. Next we split an order of potstickers. Again, huge portion that looked and smelled great. They were kind of bland though and needed some sort of dipping sauce. Also got an order of vegetable fried rice. HUGE portion. We split half of it for this meal and then made another meal of it the next day. Really good fried rice. I had GrubHub deliver. Guy left it at my door without knocking or texting me. Luckily I was watching the app. When I opened my front door the aroma coming from the packaging was drool inducing. I'll definitely be trying some more things here. The lunch special included a portion of warm and soft rice. The Mongolian beef, while tender and flavorful, tended to be a bit on the salty side when eaten on its own. However, when paired with the white rice, the flavors balanced out. The hot and spicy soup was a bit pricier compared to other places, but it proved reasonable as it included meat, unlike some places offering a no-meat variety. The soup lacked the distinctive dark soy sauce color, but the flavor was satisfactory--neither too spicy nor too sour. However, after about two hours, the soup's texture changed, losing its thickness, indicating that the cooking time might not have been optimal. Parking could be a challenge during lunch hours. I recently discovered this hidden jem during the pandemic. I was carving some good Chinese food and came across a picture of their beef rolls - something everyone was raving about. Now - if there's one thing you need to order - it's the beef rolls. They hand make the wrapping (dough, savory, authentic) and the meat is tender and flavorful. Portion is great for what it's worth and compared to other places. This is something we order every time we call. Another fan favorite is the pan-fried dumplings which come with 10 pieces and are filled with pork. I do like that there are crispies on the outside of the wrapper. We've also ordered the following over a few visits: Salt Pepper Porkchop: A little too deep fried and crispy - would've liked it a little saltier Singapore Noodles: Really delicious, not too spicy, generous amounts of shrimp Sauteed Spinach: Very tender, not mushy, and a subtle garlic flavor Fillet Fish in Ginger Sauce: It wasn't a whole fish and wasn't a lot of sauce; wouldn't order again I'm excited to try something new every time I come here. I ordered the Mapu tofu over rice dish. It was a decent size portion. It tasted good but not great as it seems like the oil used might have been a tad rancid to me. The lady at the front of the house was super busy as she was the only one there to serve customers and be the cashier. The steamed dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) had good flavor but nearly no juice inside. The Singapore Noodles had good flavor but were somewhat dry. The Mongolian Beef was 80% onions, 20% beef, in a sauce that I wish had bolder flavor. And the beef was rather chewy. This is my favorite place to get Chinese food. The ladies that work here are very sweet and remember me every time I come in. Everything here is delicious, so much flavor in every bite. I normally order take out, 2-3 items each time, which is enough to last me for 2 days. Their portions are big. The lunch specials are all under $10 and come with rice. From the moment we've walked it our group of four was treated with respect and seated at the Lazy Susan as requested. Large menu selection and in time cooking was a respect (note: please upgrade the menus). By far the best out of all order was Lu-ee Roll which I highly encourage you to try. We came in at 5:00 on Saturday and the place got jam packed at 6:00 by native folks (see photo) that also signals about the quality. Your place has a potential and would need some sanitary touch up to furniture and menu, however definitely won't affect our group from coming back. I think it was called a beef roll. Thin slice of beef rolled between flaky pastry and rolled on each other (this was the best thing). I cannot believe I have not written a review for this place! My family have been coming to this family owned restaurant for 30 years. My 93 year old grandma still knows the owner and myself, my siblings, and my cousins basically grew up there. I have never had better beef rolls anywhere else and their noodles, dumplings, and appetizers continue to be excellent and tasty. My partner also loves their fried rice.
