Saved Us from an $80,000 Mistake My family and I were torn between renovating our current home, including adding a new pool, or moving to a home that already had a pool and some other features we wanted. We found a property that checked all the boxes including a pool, but it was at the very top of our budget. The general home inspection was completed, but the pool and yard received very little attention. Wanting to be thorough, I contacted Pelican Pools for a pre-purchase pool inspection. Their inspection was incredibly detailed and revealed that the pool needed about $80,000 worth of repairs, far more than we ever expected. The inspection identified the neglect that wasn't immediately visible. Thanks to their thorough assessment, we avoided making a very costly mistake. Excellent service! The attention to detail was impressive! Trevor and Dave demonstrated true professionalism, correcting everything they could, given the shortcuts that were taken by a previous installer, during our pump and filter re-location project. They were skilled, efficient, and demonstrated the utmost respect for us and our home. Eric made the process easy and provided detailed information throughout the project, to include vital repairs that were not part of the estimate. They were even willing to look into additional warranty issues from a previous pool company that is no longer providing services (out of business). We have elected to have Pelican Pools continue any services needed on our pool due to their customer concern and high level of detail. I had a consultation with this pool company for a simple draining and cleaning of the calcium line. While the consultation was free, I was shocked by the high-pressure sales tactics and the unnecessary recommendations that were made. They suggested an acid wash for a pool with no visible staining, portrayed it as mandatory, and included it in a quote that doubled the price. They also recommended cleaning the filter, even though it was recently serviced by my current maintenance provider. Furthermore, they made negative comments about my current pool maintenance company, claiming they didn't know what they were doing, which felt completely unwarranted. What was meant to be a simple service call turned into an expensive list of extras. I will not be moving forward with their services, and I want to caution others about the aggressive upselling tactics and unnecessary add-ons.
