I have an old plaster style play pool that has never been in great shape since purchasing the home in 2018 but I've put off the financial burden for as long a I could. Over the years both the plaster and pool deck have progressively gotten worse with patches, rust spots, deck cracks, etc so I decided it's time to finally have it redone. I had several companies come out to put a bid on the project, of which Pelican Pools was one. Both of the owners, Eric and Drew, came out to take a look and walk through everything that I was looking to do. Right from the start I could tell that these folks were great people, and knew what they were talking about. They were extremely friendly, easy to talk to, made recommendations, took the extra time to listen to what I had to say, answered all of my questions, were communicative and actually explained things to me. This is my first home and I don't know a whole lot about pools but I especially don't know anything about remodeling one, so this whole process is pretty daunting. Ultimately, I decided to go with another company purely based on finances, but I'm actually bummed I'm not using them. Obviously I can't speak to the workmanship/outcome because of this, but I wish I could give them praises there too. I got a sense of comfort, knowledge and reliability from these folks which is often hard to find, and very important, when you're trusting strangers with your home, money, and time. I spent a good amount of time looking at different options, read a ton of reviews and Pelican stood out to me. I'm surprised that there are a couple 1 star reviews for them but those, at least to me, just look like disgruntled people trying to make themselves feel better... some people just can't be pleased. I'd urge anyone to overlook those and at least have these guys come out to give you a quote on your project to see for yourself. We hired Pelican to replace a Jendy valve on our pool pump system after another company was unable to do the repair. Pelican provided an accurate estimate and completed the job in a very timely manner. The tech ' Trevor was extremely friendly and was able to explain why the problem existed in-the first place. I first called Pelican Pools last year to replace my old crappy sand pool filter. The same day they came to check it out, they replaced it the same day! The price they did it st was quite generous I would say. I used them again to fix a broken pipe thingy near the pool pump and that that was done quickly and efficiently. I had my pool drained and refilled by Pelican Pools. The process was well scheduled and seamless through completion. Pelican dropped a pump in my pool on the first day then coordinated with a third party to do a bead blast cleaning of my tile the next day after my pool was emptied. Upon completion of the tile clean, which was also accompanied by a power wash and chlorine bath of the pool surface, I then dropped a hose into my pool to fill it. Once filled, Pelican came by and did a chemical startup. The process was swift with no hiccups and their customer service was top notch. Beware!!! My son called this company for a bid on weekly pool service. My son is also a young kid that is a first-time homeowner. The owner of this company came out and told my son that he needed a brand-new filter, pool motor, and vacuum. The filter he has is two months old and he was told by the owner that his pool motor was illegal in Arizona! The owner also told him that the Zodiac vacuum which is two months old also is not good because "they don't work". He told my son if he wanted to be a part of Pelican Pools he would have to change out his system. The topper was the fact he also wanted to charge him to empty his pool because he said the water was terrible but of course, we already emptied it two months ago when we purchased the home. We called my pool guy to come over to look at it and he said the vacuum line was too long so he took out a few links and the pool vac worked perfectly. My pool guy also checked the water chemicals and said the pool was fine and just needed just to be cleaned. If my son went with this company it would have cost him thousands of dollars per his quote! Instead, he got a new pool guy for $100 a month and no other expenses. Not cool to take advantage of a young kid, what do you tell elderly customers with money!??? Go elsewhere! read more

After 6 weeks I had to let these go. They did a good job fixing the equipment a few months ago but I do not recommend them for pool cleaning. 1. They claimed to be on site for 20 minutes each week. My tenant says the guy was not there more than 5 minutes each week. 2. Last week tenant sent me photos of the pool with leaves in the drain right after the guy had left. 3. This week the pool guy left the property with a huge vacuum leak. He had neglected to secure the drain skimmer cover. For this I was paying $150/month.
