I came here for BRUNCH at SET STEAK & SUSHI. I had no idea it was actually located inside the PENDRY HOTEL! I was trying to pick a restaurant near my father in laws mortuary because we planned to all visit him after BRUNCH... VALET PARKING ONLY: $15 They seem to have great service at the valet. It's just we didn't bring our LAMBO or ROLLS ROYCE so we decided to park at the mall and walk here. Saves money and you get a little exercise too!! I think that should be a PRO TIP!!! HOTEL LOBBY: 10/10 For looks and appearance! What a stunning hotel. Great ambiance and decor galore!! FANCY!!! LOTS OF PICTURE OPPORTUNITIES & lots of seats to sit and relax at... The LADIES ROOM is usually crowded so we asked someone for another restroom location. There's another one located near the SWIMMING POOL... VERY HIGH END LUXURY HOTEL!!! I decided not to stay here for $1,000 per night and just enjoyed the FOOD and scenery with my family instead... STAY AT PENDRY! LIFE FEELS SPENDY!!!!!

I came here for a work conference and honestly had no expectations, but it ended up being a great experience. From the moment I arrived at valet, I was immediately greeted, and the service stayed consistent from there. Check-in was super smooth, and they even got me into a room by 11am, which was a huge plus. The conference ballroom was impressive, spacious, clean, and a great environment to actually focus. The staff throughout the event were really helpful, and the food and drink options were solid. My room was very clean and spacious, with an awesome ocean view. We also had events in their outdoor park area for breakfast, dinner, and team building, which made everything more fun and relaxed. It's also within walking distance to Fashion Island, which made things really convenient. Overall, it's definitely on the pricey side, so I probably wouldn't come on my own, but for a work trip, it was absolutely worth it.

I really enjoy coming to the Pendry Hotel in Newport Beach, California and consider it a really great hang. I've always had good experiences here and I love the vibes. The bar is really lively even on a Monday night. They have a members only club called the Elwood Club. Expensive but worth it!

What a beautiful hotel near Fashion Island. Love Pendry Hotels and this one is fabulous! Valet when we arrived and all very nice. Walked in the spacious lobby and checked in easily enough. Grabbed a quick drink from the lobby bar and brought it up to our room. Back to the lobby, ton of seating areas and very rich decor. The lobby bar is down the hall and also has plenty of seating. Great bartenders. Came back that night and it was super busy but great drinks and people watching for sure!!! We reserved a suite and it was very spacious, super nice and the robes so comfy!! Love that there was a separate living room that had a super cushy couch. Tv in both rooms. They have a mini bar that charges automatically when you move items so be aware! Nice little patio. Super comfy bed, very clean, great water pressure in the shower! Headed down to the Elwood Club before dinner. We were with a group but I think you need a reservation or ticket to get in. It's very nice, like a country club lounge. It has a golf simulator too! There's a fireplace and there was a singer when we were there. Lovely dark wood bookshelves decor. Cocktails and bartender was amazing!!! Loved our stay!!!

This is a luxury hotel by Fashion Island and in close proximity to the beach as well. I stayed here with my husband for our anniversary. From the moment we got there, the service was amazing. Check in was smooth. The lobby had a nice ambiance. Next to the lobby is a bar and a restaurant which we were able to enjoy a nice dinner. We got a room with the garden view. It was spacious and clean. Overall, we had a great experience.

In general I expect California hotels (and hotels in Newport/Dana) to be pricey but for the price I pay I expect the absolute best. And you get an ok experience. The Pendry considers itself a 5 star hotel and while it is nice in terms of decor and rooms are pretty spacious and clean I've seen and stayed at much better value hotels. The bathroom actually looks dated and oddly paired with the room set up (like a mismatched Vegas hotel suite). Beds were uncomfortable, way too firm. I couldn't sleep, woke up in the middle of the night and was up til morning. I also found the staff to be inconsistent in friendliness. Most were nice but one desk person just seem like she hated life and her job and just was not pleasant to interact with. I noticed a $15 charge to use the porter to store luggage which is insane. This should be a service provided by the hotel. For a discounted rate... I paid $450 for 1 night all in! Also. Valet overnight is $70! You can't park at office lots nearby but there is one lot that has a daily maximum of $20. You are paying for the name and brand but frankly come here for the bar and people scene... maybe.

Beautiful hotel, very clean and excellent service. Took the family overnight this past weekend. We had a nice 2 Queen room with partial ocean view and balcony. When we walked in, we were greeted by staff immediately. Our room was clean and smelled great. The hotel had a cool members club I got to tour. I was told I could get a day pass. The heated pool was great. Towels and comfortable loungers and full service bar and grill. We had dinner at Set steak and sushi and got the steak set. Totally worth the $175. You get to choose your knife!! Our EV got charged up while we enjoyed. The bed and pillows were really comfortable as well.

I am a big fan of Pendry Newport Beach! What a well-appointed hotel in a great location. My husband and I came to California for a mix of business and pleasure. What did I like the most? The room! I loved the natural light and its spaciousness. Complimentary bottled waters are provided with housekeeping. Dark chocolate with sea salt are left bedside with turndown service. We walked the grounds at night and found a complimentary movie night for guests. They set up a big screen by the pool and played a Halloween movie. Nice touch, but we skipped as we had seen the movie before. We asked for a late check out and were given an extra hour without hassle. Valet was friendly and fast. Pendry is across the street from Fashion Island Mall. It's a very easy walk.

I love booking a place you've never been to and then absolutely loving it and not wanting to leave. That's how I felt about the Pendry. This hotel was nothing short of wonderful. The property is beautiful, friendly staff, outstanding service and great meals!! Our view was lovely from day to night. Morning had a beautiful sunrise with the coastal fog that cleared by lunch and evening city lights views were just as stunning. And each morning seeing Fashion Island made it a must to go and check it out. I mean, who says no to LETS GO SHOPPING? The room was clean and spacious. Love the options for lighting. Made it easy to wind down after a busy day. Enjoyed some fresh air standing on the small balcony and their bathroom products had the best scents. It felt like the room was soundproof. I'm a light sleeper and couldn't tell if we had neighbors. We had breakfast each morning at SET. The menu had a lot to offer and was never disappointed with any selection. Attentive and sincere service. feel like there's more to explore and visit in Newport- and when we do come back, I would absolutely stay here again.

Came here for a luncheon today. Valet is not really valet for the event, but more like self parking. Lunch was delicious though. Chicken with salad and olive bread was tasty. Restroom is clean. From the outside, it doesn't feel like a 5-star hotel, but I did not stay in the rooms so can't speak to that. Ballroom was fine! The hotel feels less fancy than Pelican Hill.

This is a beautiful luxury hotel with great service. We had a corner suite with separate balconies overlooking the ocean, which was wonderful. It's a little bit of a scene in there at the brunch and in the evening at the bar, kind of like Vegas-style scene with lots of short skirts, boob jobs etc. and constant selfies in front of the mirror in the lobby and around the pool area) but otherwise we had a wonderful time at this hotel and would stay again. The food and service at the restaurant and pool area was excellent.

My parents and I stayed here for a little over a month and finally checked out today 12/16/25. For the minority it was a pleasant one The Highs: Jayden at the front desk was absolutely phenomenal. So kind, professional, helpful and a wonderful human being. Devon is a superstar. He was always bringing us up three large buckets of ice at night. Could not have been more personable, sweet, generous and a complete gentleman who is a great asset to your company. Sandy in housekeeping was always doing so much for our room making sure it looked perfect, was clean and that we always had the bed made and towels in the bathroom. Matt the bellhop was absolutely amazing today helping us load up all our belongings in our room and into our car. The men and lady at the vallet were always on top of their game by bringing our car, leaving it up front if we were not going to be that long. However there were a few down sides like the bar in the lobby. It was always so busy by people who weren't even staying there. The two female bartenders were completely rude, did not acknowledge us or another person at a table. They were too busy chatting away and did not give us the time of day. This is so disheartening because we tip. We are not fussy and they treated us as if we didn't belong or were invisible. I hope that The Pendry acknowledges the people who made our stay enjoyable and to have a serious discussion with the female bartenders who made us want to leave and not return. If it weren't for the great hospitality of those above we would have left sooner.

Because even with all the good, one bad encounter is always the lasting impression. My husband and I are local to the area, going on a little staycation for our anniversary. Arrived to Vea on Saturday night no complaints. Morning of 07/12/2026 at 9:30am to the woman who was working the valet window, at an establishment like this, where your customers are paying upwards of $800+ with no option BUT TO USE VALET FOR AN EXTRA CHARGE OF $70 a day - don't tell us to get our own car because it's "close." But my husband being the nice guy he is, chose to go because he thought, "ok, it's close, it's a busy morning, why not." When he couldn't locate the car my husband went back and said "it's not in the immediate vicinity." Which the woman replied, "you can't find it? It's right there." Instead of saying "let me have one of my valet drivers go get it for you." Which is what we are paying for. The valet driver came around and pointed to us to where our car was located and said "it's actually right there, not to far." Again......why are we paying for valet if we have to get our own cars? Please make it make sense. Please educate and talk to your valet staff, OR just give us an option to park our own cars.

One of my favorite things about the room was being able to open the windows and sliding door to the beautiful ocean breeze. It's the best! (We couldn't do that for a portion of our stay because a couple of the neighbors continued to smoke. Not the hotel's fault because it is non-smoking but we were bummed that we kept smelling it in our room.) The room was nice, quaint and clean in general. For the price per night, I would say it might be due for some up keep just from normal wear and tear, such as new pillows and things like that. It wasn't super fancy or anything but the location of it offered beautiful views! The hotel and staff are lovely overall. We would genuinely stay here again.

Room & Platinum Benefits As Marriott Platinum members, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to an Ocean View Bungalow without even asking. While we weren't upgraded to a suite despite availability, the bungalow was absolutely incredible. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and featured a huge bathroom and a private ocean-view patio that quickly became our favorite spot. Waking up to the ocean view every morning was unforgettable. We also appreciated the complimentary self-parking and the $70 dining credit, which added even more value to our stay. ‍ The Spa Was a Hidden Highlight One of the biggest surprises was that all resort guests receive complimentary access to the spa facilities even without booking a treatment. This ended up being one of our favorite parts of the trip. We enjoyed the spa lounge, pool, sauna, and relaxation areas at no extra cost. The spa staff were incredibly attentive--they even kept refilling my apple cider several times while I relaxed. The fitness center is conveniently located next to the spa, making it easy to enjoy both. Resort Amenities The circular Coliseum Pool is absolutely stunning, with panoramic ocean views and plenty of space to unwind. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely provided five-star service. Another feature we loved was being able to park directly outside our bungalow, which made everything extremely convenient. Breakfast at Coliseum Pool & Grill We had breakfast at Coliseum Pool & Grill one morning. The setting is absolutely beautiful, overlooking the pool and ocean, and the atmosphere is hard to beat. However, the food itself was just average, especially considering the price. We ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict ($48) and the Breakfast Burrito ($26). Both were decent but nothing particularly memorable. You're really paying for the spectacular views, elegant surroundings, and resort experience rather than exceptional food. Crystal Cove Shuttle The resort offers a complimentary shuttle to Crystal Cove Beach. We personally didn't find it worthwhile. During our visit, the beach was crowded and not very clean, so we stayed for only about 15 minutes before calling the shuttle to return to the resort. Honestly, Pelican Hill itself is the destination. We'd much rather spend our time enjoying the pool, spa, restaurants, and incredible ocean views. Final Thoughts If you're looking for a relaxing luxury getaway, romantic staycation, or special celebration, Pelican Hill is an excellent choice. The accommodations, service, spa, beautiful grounds, and unforgettable views made this an amazing experience. The food may not always match the luxury price tag, but everything else absolutely does. We would happily stay here again.

Listen here Americans, this is a hard review to make…read more Standard king room, the bed is hard as a rock, the pillows are so soft your head lays on the hard bed. The only reason I will never recommend this place is how bad the mattress and pillows are. Myself, my female partner are sore at the hips from this bed. As side sleepers, it is the hardest mattress I've experienced in some time, probably the same as a motel 6. The mattress is seriously as hard as the floor, the pillows are worthless. The nights I stayed, I used a couch cushion as a pillow because the ones they give you are worthless. I balled up 2 pillows and it still didn't support my head. The bed is like sleeping on a floor. My hips are hurting today from the poor mattress... the pullout bed has a metal bar that runs through it. So if you think that's a better idea you're wrong. I stayed 2 nights, standard king room, 10th floor. And I and partner barely slept because of discomfort. Not to mention the doors slam. So any time someone leaves the room in the hallway, you can hear it or watch your walls. Be prepared for loud slamming noises all night and early in the morning as people come and go. Oh, and we ordered 2 orders of chicken strips and French fries at 9:45pm. The room service arrived at 10:30 and they brought one order. I asked where the second order was. The room service guy say "you must have made a mistake and ordered only one" I showed him the receipt, two orders, 12$ each...he only brought one and only charged for one... he then said "well you're the last order of the night, I can make more if you want?" I said "no, it took you 45 minutes to bring this one, and you only brought half of what we asked" I can't wait until 1am for chicken strips and French fries. overall great location, 90% of the employees are great. The mattress is the sole reason I cannot tell my family members to stay here I see lots of posts about the pool experience so I will address. The pool with the slide is heated. The pool that was told is adults only was much colder, and... to no surprise is filled with kids and families too. We did both pools. So my wife wanted time away from our kids and went to the small adult pool first, and it was filled with unsupervised kids snorkeling (no lifeguard) and drunk adults celebrating a wedding. We chatted with the adults and they were drunk and laughed with us that "this is suppose to be the adults pool" and the women felt uncomfortable in revealing thong type bathing suits, drinking alcohol, around kids. The kids pool with the slide is also ridiculous because people show up early. Lay out towels and hog all the chairs. So when we went down, every chair was taken but like 25 people were in the pool. We found one chair, ONE CHAIR, that was not covered with a blue towel, for us to take turns sitting in. Keep in mind, there were more chairs than people in the pool. No one policed this area and allowed other guests to lay out there stuff, hog and steal all the chairs, more than they needed. A standard couple like us was left out and treated like trash because of the hotel not doing their job. One guy will lay out 10 towels across all the chairs and they won't even use them. So go to the adult pool? Yeah it's filled with kids too. Cannot recommend this place as much potential it has because the mattress and pillows are that bad. I can handle the small stuff like screwing up a room service or jerks taking more chairs than they need. I cannot get over the bed and the lasting discomfort it has given me and my wife. The best thing I can compare this sleep situation to, is remember being a kid, having a sleep over at a friends house? And you sleep on the floor with a crappy sheet and pillow? Yea, it's like that. Honestly, if I was 15 years old and played at the beach all day it's fine. But I'm an adult and not at a sleepover on the floor of my friends house... and paid over 1000$ FOOD: Is another question asked and posted about. Room service, the pool bar, the beach bar the hotel restaurant is all the same menus, (except Henry's which serves straight appetizers). So hopefully you like Cabo Wabo The secret play is order food delivered to your room from a 3rd party. You will get better quality, for less money. And then you tip that driver extra for coming to your room. Cabo wabo is average, expensive. Just 3rd party delivery the food. They will meet you at the valet and hand it off. Lots of guests do this all the time. We learned about it on the second day, so many people are just out there waiting for food delivery

I was attending a wedding in Orange County and this hotel was part of the wedding block, which they extended by a day for me. When I arrived after a day of travel from the East Coast that became longer and more adventurous than I cared, it was great to be offered two different types of rooms and be personally shown the difference. I chose one on the Ninth Floor. Everything worked in my room, except the shower head, which apparently had been replaced before and now no longer fit precisely in the clamp not made for this shower head handle. It will need to be replaced again, because it falls to the shower floor when the water is turned off and the buttons on the handle adjust themselves to appear to shut off the water flow. This room on the Ninth Floor was a handicapped room and there was no shower door, so this allowed only a small trickle of water out the opening. This is often a problem in hotels, but not here. The televisions worked properly and the thermostat kept the temperature where you wanted it, another issue at hotels. I actually turned the air conditioning off, given the blanket or comforter is not thick enough with the AC on and the ambient air was comfortable without the AC. The AC unit could run a little quieter when in operation, but was comparatively quiet when measured against other hotels. Housekeeping was dutiful and deserved to be tipped, which I did. She was patient with my morning schedule and semi late breakfasts downstairs. She reset the room properly each day. Speaking of downstairs, they have a good bar serving up drinks with quality jumbo ice cubes. My Manhattan was very good. I had a beer poured cold another day. Each time I had breakfast, I had the Denver Omelet coming with well prepared hash browns. The omelet is a three egg omelet with ham, onions, and mushrooms with cheddar cheese. It's a substantial omelet and breakfast for twenty bucks. Served with ketchup and hot sauce at your option. Service is also quick. Given the hotel's proximate location just ten minutes from SNA and Newport Beach in the other direction, your Uber rides will not be overtaxing. 4.2 stars

But, this place is worth every penny (we paid over 500$ for one night, but we might hang around.) The place is really pretty. It is near the freeway, but not so close you hear it at all. Our room is large and spotless. Check in was so easy. It is a tranquil retreat overlooking waterfront views of Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve. And believe me I could some tranquilly right about now. You can go to the beach or sit by the wonderful pool. It has a great fitness center and it is not crowded. We had dinner right there at the Vista Kitchen Bar. It is cute and comfortable and the service is great. It is American food and it is great. It is a tad pricey, but we are in a hotel. We are very happy and will return.

The outdoor venue is the perfect size (not too big) so you have a good view of the stage no matter where you're seating. Though I didn't stay at the hotel, I was impressed by the level of service. From the moment I walked through the lobby to ordering drinks at the bar, everyone I encountered was so welcoming and friendly. I went to a vip dinner event before the concert so was able to see different areas of the hotel as well.

For Friday - Sunday of Father's Day weekend, it was around $900 after taxes and fees. I do agree with other reviews that the rooms could use some upgrades based on the price point of the place, but our room (632) didn't have any major visible problems. There are 3 pools on site, with the one nearest our room designated as the one for kids with a water park-like slide, splash pad, and a hot tub. We spent almost all of our time here both days and our son loved it. The pool water was really cold, however, but that's to be expected when it's barely in the 70s outside. Just be aware there aren't any lifeguards anywhere. It was at this pool where a lot of the daytime activities were held like limbo, twister, and tattoos/bracelets for kids. We were able to find chairs both days without an issue. The poolside bar and food prices weren't bad. The day we spent the most, I think it came out to around $100 with tip for 3 mixed drinks, a kid's meal, and some chips and queso. We all loved our son's PB&J meal. We ate multiple meals at the restaurant, but sat in the bar area since it was more kid-friendly. There were kids in the restaurant, but it was a very upscale vibe and we didn't want our rowdy toddler disturbing anyone, so we sat in the bar area at the same table for every meal. That worked out because we could watch the World Cup games in there. The restaurant food was surprisingly good and fair on price for quality and quantity. We were really surprised by all of that. I ate the same salad twice because I loved it so much, and my husband and son loved the burgers. The breakfast burritos were bomb, too. I don't know why so many people complain about the self-parking situation. The "hill" people were referencing in reviews I read ended up not even being steep enough to be called a ramp, let alone a hill, and was maybe 1.5-2 basketball courts away from the front door?? The parking lot is super close to the front door if you park on the side nearest there (which is furthest from where you swipe your room key to get in), and we had no trouble at all getting our bags inside from there. Make sure you park on the circle drive first and go in and get your room key because you have to have that to swipe into the parking lot. We were a 12-15 min. drive from the beach and even closer to Balboa. We went near the beach the 1st day to watch the game and walked around, but honestly stayed on the property the rest of the time because there was plenty to do there. Some of the other activities my son enjoyed were cotton candy and face painting. We'd definitely stay here again!

Love this hotel, but the biggest buzzkill is the parking situation and all the extra fees they hit…read moreyou with. Let's start with parking. There's essentially no self-parking on the hotel grounds. Your options are either valet or hunt for street parking blocks away and hoping you get lucky with something closer. The added catch? Street parking is only free from 6:00 PM to 8:00AM. Not a huge deal if you're up early, but it becomes an inconvenience when you want to sleep in, enjoy breakfast, or simply relax on vacation. Then there's valet. $70 per night. Seriously? You're parking my car 20 feet away on the curb or in a lot that could be used for self-parking. I've stayed at luxury hotels in Las Vegas that charge closer to $40. If there's no practical self-parking option, valet should be included for hotel guests or at least offered at a more reasonable rate or throw in a sale-parking fee with all the additional charges I'm about to get to in a sec. Guest are hit with additional fees like a destination fee and local tourism fee. Local tourism fee??? This is Newport Beach, not a private island resort. Relax. The hotel itself is great, but the parking situation and nickel and diming guests with extra fees definitely leave a bad taste at the end of your trip and makes you second guess about coming back for another stay.
