The customer service was pretty good. 7 pm 3/5/15. The guy checking people in and out in the service area was handling a lot of work. I would have become irritated or overwhelmed with all of the running around he was doing. He was checking in, ringing up. answering the phone and running for parts and tires. All with the same patient attitude. I'd called earlier after running over something that split my tire and he told me if I made it in he would take me even though it would be close to 7pm and they had several people ahead of me. My main concern was getting out of there before Empire came on at 9pm. Pulled off at 8:20! Only replaced one tire. Going to go back and get 3 more this month once it warms up. Didn't try to over-sale me but recommended a mid price/all weather tire over the cheapest that I would have selected. read more

This is a big place with a lot of options. Staff is friendly but lacks knowledge on vehicles. I come here for the occasional sales and they finally got double din monitors like pioneer and boss but their prices are way to high and the staff knows nothing about the functions and aren't marked with prices. Access is somewhat easy but is easy to spot. I have not and will not use their service garage because I do 95% of the work myself on my car and I take a one look at their garage and all I see is disorganization and that worries me. Please don't waste your time or money here! First time I was here was for a set of tires change and an alignment. Scheduled for 4pm, dropped off promptly at 4pm. Took them 4 hours to do change a set of tires and align. Second time came in b/c one tire in my moms car got a flat. Scheduled a 10am appointment for one tire, took them 2.5 hours to do one tire. Last time I was here to redo an alignment since I bought the 3 year plan, made an appointment for 11am, took them for whole 2 hours to do the alignment and on top of that, my steering wheel was still crooked! Save your time and pay another $20-30 elsewhere, this place is unbelievably unorganized and I don't think anyone here has the right skill set to do anything. Something needs to be done, from the top down. I will never go back here and rather spend an extra $100 to have anything done at the dealer. read more

The male at the front desk had such a poor and rude attitude. I didn't know if he was talking to me or someone else, because it was crowded and he was just mumbling. In fact he was talking to me. Then when they were finally done he YELLS my name. I understand people have bad days but but it's a two way street. Also I know I'm a women who doesn't understand much about cars but 103 dollars for an oil change? Then he says here I'll use a $20 coupon, I waited an hour and a half for an oil change. I turn on my car the next day and they didn't reset the sensor or whatever it is that alerts me that I need an oil change. I was having battery issues and made an appointment for 0800. I got there at 0730 an waited in my vehicle. By the time they opened there was a line of customers 5 deep. It didn't matter, they checked everyone in within 10 minutes and started working on my vehicle right away. I was out of there by 0900 with a new battery, terminals, and a smile knowing that I would be waiting all damn day... Recommend for -10 level repairs you don't want to do yourself. read more

Yet when I wanted them to change a simple lightbulb (takes 5 minutes on my car), the service clerk told me that they are booked out for hours. Same happened to the guy in front of me. I can understand that you want to max your technicians' time, but you have to pull them off their mulitiple-hour jobs if a customer needs a quick fix that your brand stands for. I brought a vehicle to this location explained to them it was vibrating and a bulb was out. Knowing Ford vehicles you have to remove the bumper to replace a bulb, I asked them to replace both since it won't be long before the other one goes out. Evidently they didn't. Had me freezing in there for five hours and the vibration was still there. A week later the other bulb went out and I have been here three hours already and the bulb hasn't been replaced yet. The employees are very rude with very nasty attitudes!!!! I believe they're doing that so that you get charged twice for the same issue! read more

In the aftermath of the snowstorm we had last week, I needed to get some new windshield wipers installed and it was about time for an oil change/tire rotation as well. Booking an appointment online was very easy and I was able to schedule for the same day. I received speedy and helpful assistance with picking out the correct windshield wipers in the store before my appointment, and the whole service was done in a little over an hour. All the employees I interacted with were very nice and I felt comfortable and confident that my car was in good hands. Another plus was that I was able to use a coupon from the website for 25% off my oil change! My Pep Boys experience started with just a simple oil change on a Friday. I was a walk in and was serviced within a few minutes, which was fine. The Customer Service this day was okay as well. Not fantastic. Just fine. However, immediately after I took it in, I noticed my car was making a strange louder noise that I couldn't quite explain. I took it in two days after only because I wanted to make sure it wasn't just the new oil settling in the car. This was a Sunday, so I understood they were busy. However, I was there for at least 25 minutes and the guys in the mechanics department weren't even acknowledging any customers, even those ahead of me. I watched 2 guys walk out as the workers just did paper work and answered the phone. There were 2 guys, but one guy walked out for 15 minutes. No one said "We'll be with you in a moment" or anything. When I got to the counter, they said I had to make an appointment. The only time I could have been free was Tuesday. So I had to wait 2 more days till Tuesday to take my car back. This was another quick service that was just okay. What annoyed me even more is the guy working there that day said they had tightened everything, but the car was still making the noise. He suggested that I take it to my dealer cause it may have been the transmission. My car has 13K miles on it and was a 2012 model. So, I took it to my local, trusted Chevrolet dealer. I wasn't even there for 15 minutes when they said my car was ready. They told me the air intake assembly was loose and needed to be tightened. Needless to say I was not satisfied due to the fact when Pep Boys looked it over the second time, they had told me they tightened everything. I went back to Pep Boys for the fourth time (The Friday after I got the first oil change / A whole week later) and asked for a reimbursement for the money I had to pay to my Chevrolet dealer to get it looked at. My only complaint for this day was the manager I had talked to was trying to lecture me on trying to get my car fixed there instead of taking it to my Chevrolet dealer. But like I said, I had gone back multiple times to try and get it fixed with them. I'm satisfied I received my money back, but I feel like I had wasted my time and energy on what should have been a simple oil change. read more

The store itself is okay, but for The maintenance service, avoid at all costs! Both my dad and I have had separate incidents where the workers literally LOST our keys. The first time I went, I had an appointment at 9am and dropped my car off. The employee told me that it would only take an hour or so. 7 hours later, I call and they hadn't even started. They only started once I called. Then I had to call again because they didn't even notify me when it was done. As I went to the counter to pay, they gave me the wrong pair of keys . Then they spent the next 15 minutes trying to figure out where they had out my keys! they went back and forth asking each other where it was placed. The whole team had to stop and look around while a line of customers started forming up. The other day, they also lost my dads keys. These people are unorganized and have no communication whatsoever, and no commitment. I've given pep boys many chances, but never again. read more

I just took my car in for a check engine light. They called me back and told me I needed $3400 in repairs to get the light off. I pushed for the code and Kelsey said she didn't have it. I called another auto repair shop and they told me most of the things listed would not be related to the check engine light. When I called Kelsey back, she said once again that they were. I pushed for the code and had to call back twice to get it. Finally, she gave it to me, which wasn't related to half the things she said I originally needed to get the check engine light off. After that, she told me it'd be $900 to get the code cleared. Had I not pushed, I would have spent $3400 and probably would have had to spend another $900 to get that code cleared. With one question, the price dropped by over a third. When I confronted her about this, she just said sorry and ok. They've lost my trust and business for good after this. I'm pissed that I have to pay for the diagnostic test since they fed me BS. To top it off, this is hours later than my appointment because they couldn't find my keys, and I had to call Kelsey back twice to have her even look for them. Update: just got a second opinion. It will be fixed for less than $200. I am beyond disappointed in my neighborhood pep boys. Update 2: I feel the need to mention that Jairo is excellent to work with. He comped my diagnostic test. These guys are great. Had a flat and got off work early so.i could get to the location at 5220 Duke Street. I had stopped by a previous Merchant who said I would need a new tire. With 11lbs of Aire I.stopped at the closest location. Yelp advisor and the sign on the door said they closed at 7pm. I showed up at 6:30 and Kevin was I side and said they were closed. So much for customer service at that location. Called this location and they even stayed open late for me. Love these guys. Mae an appointment for a nail in my tire that was slowly going flat. All their stalls were full, but they had me pull around and the tech plugged my tire and checked pressure all the way around. Whole process took 15 minutes tops and I was our the door with no charge. Super appreciative, will definitely be back soon for future repairs. read more

I made an appointment ahead for new tires. The person on the phone only asked for my name to schedule me in. When I got to my appointment I was then asked for my tire size only to find out they did not have my size which was very annoying, what's the point of making an appointment. The guy at the desk ordered my tires on Saturday and stated my tires might be in by Monday that they will call me when the tires come in. It is now Wednesday, I called to check my status and the person on the phone asked for my tires size and said if I haven't received a call then my tires are not in. He didn't take the initiative to be sure of that. I feel as though service is lacking. read more

Purchased their premium package for Thermoquiet brakes. Less than a week later, squeak was back. This is not the problem. The fact I brought the car in saying I wanted to stop the squeaking and they basically wasted my time. 7 hours for base install and 3 1/2 hours to just check and clean the rotors on the 2nd visit for the same problem. . And they can't even guess how long their service would take.. They got grease on the door and floor mats. The actual work took maybe 10 minutes. Then they fail to understand what the previous person did. One mechanic said the rear was just fine and the 2nd person said maybe not. They should respect people and their cars too. They have a reasonable price and the mechanics know what they are doing. However, whenever I have an appointment, I have to wait 2+ hours waiting just for an alignment for the car. The customer service is quite horrible when you are trying to call them through the phone since they are always busy. i ordered online a common part for a popular vehicle (air filter for a ford focus). minutes later received an email inviting me to come to the store to pick up my order. drove an hour later. after 20 min wait at the counter all i've got was this statement from a clerk: "bad email." no apology for making me drive and waste all this time or any hint of being helpful. i asked for some other air filter that fits my vehicle. they didn't have it either.... there you go: an auto parts store that does not stock an air filter for a popular car.... on top of that, the (dis-) service was painstakingly slow. i must have wasted an hour while they were sorting through their online order paperwork, looking for non-existing item they've sold me, or looking for non-existing replacement thereof. read more

It's hard for me to like mechanics, as so I obviously know nothing about cars and they can always sniff me out so I always leave feeling like I've been cheated somehow. My husband left on a week long business trip and of course the very next day, Saturday night of a 3 day weekend, my battery decides to die, leaving me and two small kids stranded. I was in tears wondering what to do, when a friend I called to cry to told me that Pep Boys was open on Sunday and that she liked them a lot, so I called to make an appointment. Even though they were nearly closing and I was still waiting for roadside assistance to jump start my car, the gentleman on the phone told me he would wait for me since they weren't very busy at the time. I did manage to get there JUST at closing time, but he still took my car with a smile and fixed my battery in 15 minutes and even applied a coupon to the battery that I didn't know existed. Not all heroes wear capes, but this gentleman, who not only voluntarily stayed later to help me but who did it with a smile, is a real hero. I cannot express how grateful I am to him. Probably the worst car servicing experience ever. I had an online appt for an oil change at 9am, service desk employee Adrian told me shouldn't be "too long". Also, specifically instructed them to rotate tires. Car finally went into the service bay a 10am. Oil change took 25 mins. When I went to pay, did not notice the tire rotation. Asked the service desk and they said no they didn't rotate the tires. Took the car back into the bay to rotate tires. After another 20 mins, car was finally done. So a simply oil change and tire rotation turned into a 2 hr ordeal. Spoke to the manager about the problem and he said sorry and walked away. Appointments don't mean anything there and I didn't even get a courtesy notice that they are or were backed up. I would have gone to jiffy lube or Walmart instead of 2 hours for an oil change. I came to Pep Boys for an oil change and was not disappointed. I was assisted by Kevin when I arrived and he was nothing but friendly. My car takes synthetic oil, so I expected to pay the usual $80 some dollars I am used to paying, but they had a manager's special which included the oil change plus additional services for $69.99. I cannot speak for other services (repairs, tire replacements, etc.) as I did not do any of those, but I would definitely recommend for an oil change. read more

I have a very limited experience with Pep Boys but, based on that experience, I would not recommend them. I ordered some new tires online and took my car to Pep Boys to put on the new tires. The did that but as I was driving away, I received a tire low pressure warning. I immediately took my car back to Pep Boys. I discovered that they had failed to adequately inflate one of the tires. They put some air in and I drove off. Several months later I took the car in for a safety inspection. Thé service station guy who did the inspection pointed out that two of the tires had been installed incorrectly. They were directional tires and two of them had been installed with the tread running in the wrong direction. I did not take the car back to Pep Boys but instead had the problem fixed by a car repair place I trust. I have no way of knowing if my experience was unusual but based on that experience, I would not recommend Pep Boys and have not taken my car there again. read more

Not happy at all with this location. Took my car in to have headlight bulbs replaced. The process to research and buy the bulbs (with installation) on their site was clunky but I thought the install intake and timing was ok. Store and waiting area was old school but not in a retro good way, just run down. There were a few dirty fingerprints and smudges on the car when it was done but nothing that couldn't be cleaned up, though I shouldn't have to. Drove my car away and didn't drive it at night for a few days. When I did, the lights were unaligned and dim. Ended up taking it in to the dealer for regular service and asked them to take a look at the lights. The bulbs had been installed incorrectly and were not sitting in the housing the right way. Tech said it looked like the installer didn't understand how things were supposed to fit together. The bulbs were common H7 size and the car is a common Subaru, so nothing exotic. For such a basic service I expected Pep Boys to be able to nail it. Not the case. Not going back. read more
