Sooooooo I'm appalled by the way this place tried to take advantage of me. I called and asked if they had a moment to check my breaks and was told by Marcus to come in within the hour and they can have me in and out. I bring my Mercedes in to them because they are an approved repair shop by my warranty. After waiting almost two hours (so much for in & out) they tell me I need new breaks and rotors in the front and Back of my car and quote me $716. For context I just purchased my certified 2018 Mercedes less than 60 days prior and the car only has 34,254 miles on it (34,198 when purchased). I asked for the inspection report so I can see the diameter of my brake pads and see what exactly is the cause of having to have them replaced. I was told it'd be texted to me and it wasn't. I called back and was told they sent it. I informed them the link sent had no attachment and requested an email, Marcus then told me that they can't email it and if I want the report I'd have to bring it in for another inspection. Sir what? After I gave you 2hrs of my life and you have NO REPORT to explain what all you did, no absolutely not. Now I don't trust you because why won't you just send the report, did you even do an inspection? So I wake up the next morning and drive to Mercedes North Atlanta and have them do a full break inspection...you know the kind Pepboys was SUPPOSED to do. They gave me a full write up of my car and my breaks, rotors and pads are completely fine. Almost new, I guess the ceramic pads (the highest quality break pad) squeal a bit when it's cold out. Soooooooo pepboys really tried to get a full $716 break replacement when there was nothing wrong with my car! If I could give zero stars I would because why try to take advantage of people like that. I am an educated woman so you didn't get me but imagine how many hard working people they trick out of money daily. Honestly should be ashamed of yourself SMH. read more

SCAM? Had my oil changed here on Friday, 4/12/24. They told me my battery's power was very low and that I will need a new one soon. I was quoted $212 for the battery. I said I would come back for that. I subsequently received a coupon for free battery installation so decided to go ahead and get the new battery. I called, made an appointment for 9:00am today. The price quoted for today, 4/17/24, was $358. I told him what I had been quoted on Friday but since I couldn't remember the person's name from that day, he said he couldn't help me. Anyway, seemed like a scam to me so I didn't get a battery. The world we live in I guess. No honesty anymore. Sad to say, since my experience earlier had been pleasant enough. The oil light came on in my car while on the expressway. I immediately got off and was on Buford Hwy. looking for help. I was lucky to find this Pep Boys. They helped me right away. Everyone working there were so helpful and they checked my oil and put some additional in my oil tank. I was sent on my way at no charge. Pore care all around, I went in for an alignment and was there for 7 hours because they didn't find the actual issue until 4 hours into the wait. Had to come back to re align my wheels and they completely forgot to book my appointment. More damage was done to my car after going back for a mistake they made in the first place. Been thinking whether to post it or not but might save some trouble to other ppl. I was scammed at this location, came to put set of new tires on my old car but screws were rusty and those fellas working over there told me that their colleague can help with that (one of employees at the location) but it's gonna cost me. I was like, wtf but didn't have time to go to other places (I had flat tire at the time too) and stuff so transferred him 20$ to screw into the screw and remove the problematic wheel. I knew he was scamming bc he was even hiding from his manager asking for Venmo (btw come on, who's paying with Venmo at establishment like that). I really thought whether I should post it but you know what...fcuk this guy and ppl like him. The 2 stars are for previous experiences with employees no longer there. This place is horrible, I ordered a tire (because apparently my tire size is rare but EVERY other tire shop in area had it in stock) I was told it would be in by 3:00pm (6/18/24). I left my rim and flat tire so the work could be done. I come back at 9:00am on 6/19/24 and was informed that the tire was never delivered. Couldn't confirm that it was even ordered. I wasn't even given a time if it was able to be ordered today, I was told to leave my truck and "we will see what we can do." I believe in giving businesses a chance. However, this is the 2nd time I've ordered tires from this Pep Boys location and the never came in. And for the second time I was saved by Discount Tire less than 2 miles away. What deceptive business practices!!! I researched tires on line and found a great special at pep boys. I sent my college age son to this location. He showed them the website offer - tire originally 157.99, on special for 118.99. Did not go over with him the price of the tires or install. He went to pay after the install and found he was charged 197.99 per tire (same advertised model). When he questioned this he was told that deal was only available on line. That does not explain the difference in regular price AND he showed the salesman - Romeo J - the ad and he NEVER said anything. Additionally, he was charged for road hazard warranty WITHOUT being asked about it - $29.70 per tire (118.80). This place is an absolute rip off - $996.02 for new tires and installation. Friendly service... I stopped in for a tail and plate light that was out... I found out by a nice police officer last night... I was told to have a seat and someone will give me an ETA. An hour later I had to ask what's up.. I had yet to see anyone touch my car ‍.. after looking in the system the advisor told me that there were no lights out found. Yes I asked the advisor when was someone going to tell me? I've been sitting here for over an hour.... no word. Now he's looking in my trunk and determining what's wrong. An hour later.... Thankfully the manager was kind.. he took responsibility for the break down in communication and made it right. 1 star is for the experience... not for that business, this is my 1st time at this location. Since Romeo love to advise customers to leave a review and be sure we mention his name, I think its fair to also review the negative impact from his combative attitude. After 3 years of making this specific location my go to, these last few days after dealing with Romeo has been nothing attitude and combativeness. If a customer ask a question to why am I paying for something that has warranty? its no other answer besides the right answer to make it make sense. Today, Romeo was combative by questions from me due to me not understanding WHY AM I PAYING FOR TIRES AGAIN? (mind you 4 BRAND NEW tires were purchased last yr or the yr before with warranty) I also asked how much is the tires (2) he proceeds to print the history of what he "looked out for me" on. Still didn't get to how much is the tires? instead he gets up from behind the desk and states "let me hurry up and get you outta here because if you think ill sabotage a business over a tire is crazy. after today we good. I do you a favor" First off, DO ME A FAVOR..DONT DO ME NO FAVOR. EVER! I never have/had a problem to pay for a need but I do have a problem of a combative sales rep and a mouthy grown man. He proceeds to the back and make his way back after I continue to speak to my boyfriend on the phone about not ever meeting a combative man. He cut the corner "Ms Howard what was that?" As a man, SHUT IT or answer your customer with the right answer. In the future don't ever come from the back asking a customer what they say? Like you wanted an issue when they are on the phone with their spouse. Be prepared for the customer to repeat EXACTLY what she/he said. It could go anyway but up. I strongly encourage if you're having a bad day and overwhelmed with the load of the work, find a relief so your customers won't feel or see it. We were cool until I started asking questions. Wish I had looked up this location before going here. Went in to get an alignment and was charged $90, which is fine. However, there was an additional $8.99 Miscellaneous Shop Fee. When I asked what that was for, the guy at the register said "to keep their shop clean." It's an alignment...not sure what that has to do with cleaning their shop. When I asked further, he said it's a miscellaneous charge. I knew that after I read that on the receipt. Still not very helpful. I had to run to a meeting so I didn't press the issue, but charging a customer without warning and then providing no logical explanation for it afterward means I won't be going back. Not that I think they care...it seemed like the kind of place that plays grab-and-go with your money, although I could be wrong. The alignment seems fine so far, but given the way this Buford highway location is run, I wouldn't be surprised if something went wrong down the line. read more

When they saw me coming they saw dollar signs. In March 2018 this Pep Boys installed a clutch in my Ford Mustang. Thursday, 12/5/19, my car would not go into gear. I called them and told them I was having the car towed to their location. Immediately the guy on the phone let me know that the labor was not covered under a warranty. I asked was the clutch covered. He said yes. After having the car towed over there a guy named Ced called the next day and quoted me $1218.00. At that point, I told him no and said I was coming to get the key. #1: The car had not been moved into the bay. They 'diagnosed' it out in the parking lot. #2: When I went in there with a 'man' the price was different and I was told that the parts Ced mentioned were just 'suggestions' that were not required. They have a man's price and a woman's price. I ended up getting it towed to another mechanic and he fixed it for $50.00. Those guys in Pep Boys saw a woman come in and decided to take advantage of her. I don't suggest any women go there unless they want to get ripped off. What pisses me off the most is I've used this Pep Boys for over 20 years. They used to be trustworthy. read more

Anytime a woman breaks down in a car on the side of the road all kinds of thoughts go through her mind when she is alone. Will I be safe, will I be able to get help, and do I have enough money to pay to have this fixed. But mainly the concern is about being safe. Especially on the side of the road on Interstate 285 in Atlanta. When this happened to me I thankfully Googled and found the nearest Pep Boys at the Doraville location that was a mile and a half away. I waited a certain period of time until the car cooled down,  filled it with fluids and then made my way to the Pep Boys in Doraville. When I arrived on Wednesday 12/14/21, I was told that only one mechanic was on shift that day and that they wouldn't be able to get to my car until Saturday. The manager suggested that I leave my car overnight, return and fill it with fluids again, and then travel three and a half miles down Buford highway to the Pep Boys Chamblee location. I did as the manager suggested and returned the next day and traveled to the Pep Boys Chamblee location. On the way there even though it was only three and a half miles away my car overheated again. When I arrived I was made to feel immediately welcome by the General Manager Rich, and his team of employees. Clayton took over the management of my situation and John the mechanic was assigned to work on my car. After John diagnosed  a badly leaking water pump and replaced it I returned home and found that the fluids had leaked out and it overheated again. Clayton offered to have my car towed through the Pep Boys app. However, I waited two and a half hours and filled my car with fluids and then had my friend follow me back to Pep Boys Chamblee where John and Clayton worked diligently to resolve my issues. The staff at Pep Boys Chamblee went above and beyond what mechanic shops have ever done for me in the past. There are not many corporations in America nowadays that have staff that go above and beyond their call of duty to assist a customer. I will tell everyone I come in contact with who needs a mechanic about the amazing service that I received at Pep Boys Chamblee to make me a repeat customer in the future. From now on I will be a loyal Pep Boys customer and have all my mechanic work done at your Pep Boys Chamblee location even though it is 18 miles from where I currently reside. I would go halfway across the city to receive the kind of service, honesty, and dedication that I received when my car broke down and I couldn't get help immediately. I know lots of companies don't have enough staff now because of what has happened due to the pandemic. But I was able to overcome my disappointment at having to travel to another shop three and a half miles away because of how I was treated by the staff at Pep Boys Chamblee. They make you feel like a human being instead of just a dollar sign. Now wonder their parking lot is always full of cars and their waiting room is always full of people. People succeed in life and business when they let you know that you matter. So I juat had the most disgusting conversation with the supposed to be manager of this location, Rich. I asked for the pricing of a specific cylinder change, which lead to him saying he wished advance auto would stop checking codes for engines. I told him the other codes that came up but was also told by another employee and EVERY OTHER PEPBOYS that they do not work on camshaft because that is an engine problem. I was told that I can't tell him what can be done at his shop and I thought that was unprof especially being I ONLY called to get the pricing of one thing. I see why this store has 2.5 stars. Horrible customer service! I stopped in after being referred from Autozone for a battery since there were no ASE mechanic on staff. I finally got to the front counter which only had 1 cashier which had horrible customer service skills! I'm having to wait close to an hour for a battery to be placed. Do many mechanic looking people walking around doing nothing except preparing for close which irritates me. If they would put in as much work as they do preparing to get out of here, they would have better reviews. I will never return to this dirty, poorly ran store. read more

Hands down the WORST car-care service I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. When my engine light came on, my father (naively) suggested Pep Boys. Five hours (and $300!) later, I had a clean fuel system, a tune up, new spark plugs, and a whole host of other seemingly useless crap and I was on my way. Unfortunately, after my engine reset, that darned engine light came RIGHT back on. So, I brought it back to Pep Boys. After a lovely "chat" with the Service Manager from Hell, Esteban, we agreed that they would take a fresh look at the car, and -actually fix the problem- all at no charge to me. Sounds wonderful right? Of course it does, until the engine light came back on and I realized that I'd taken yet another day off of work so another inept mechanic could successfully make unnecessary repairs to my vehicle, and still not fix the problem. At this point, I'd clocked about 10 hours in their waiting room, and I was NOT HAPPY. I returned once again to the God-Forsaken Pep-Boys and was ready for a brawl. They reassured me, however, that today their best guy would be working on my car, and "he really knows what he's doing". In fact, he even personally introduced himself to me as "The Guy Who Is Going To ACTUALLY Fix Your Car", and even bothered to ask if he could take me out sometime. Somehow, I don't think that's part of their service package, but I'll let it slide. Imagine my surprise when that light came back on YET AGAIN ( *Hint* I wasn't!). I was asked to bring the car back so that an engine valve could get replaced, so I dropped it off on Saturday. It's now Sunday, and the car hasn't even been looked at. I just got off the phone with Esteban, and he says they've done all they can do under warranty. Apparently, replacing this valve is going to be some MAJOR engine work, and is going to take a few more days to fix. They're "happy" to refund me $150 worth of labor, but that's the best he can offer me. "Major engine work", you say? Yeah, I don't think so. I'll cut my losses and take my $150 to a mechanic who wont waste three days of my life before he tries to sucker more money out of me. I hear there's a guy out in Marietta who does awesome work for a reasonable price. Finally, I'd like to clarify that the Star in my rating REALLY only goes to Sam, Sam, and Sam, the three guys at Pep Boy's who actually deserve to keep their jobs, for being both intelligent, kind, and kinda awesome. Went in because I got a flat tire and they were nearby to fix it. The shop was practically empty, but they still made me wait forever. I needed a new tire and they tried to sell me something super expensive and tried to refuse me a cheaper tire. I sat for over an hour before they even pulled my car into the shop. I would have left if my car was drivable. I got there around 2pm and didn't leave until after 5. Three hours to put on a tire is unacceptable. I asked them to check my other tires since there was a nail in the flat one to make sure I didn't hit anything with my other tires. They obviously did not do this even though they told me they did. About a week after leaving my alignment on my car was completely screwed up due to a slow leak in a tire caused by a nail. I will never return, and would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I used to absolutely love this location, but the service has seriously gone downhill. I don't even know where to begin about the horrible experience I had. I stated to two different people exactly what my car needed. Why did it take two days for a simple oil change, battery replacement and fluids checked. Upon checking out I was given a synthetic oil change after asking for a basic. I was told to be thankful for the synthetic oil change. Seriously! Be thankful for what I didn't ask for and have to pay more for? Also, I asked for all of my fluids to be checked. Not even 30 minutes after I'm gone my car is overheating. Come to find out my car had ZERO coolant. After asking for these things to be checked, if it's not a service you provide let me know immediately so my next stop is to get the necessary fluids I need. I was told they do refill your windshield wiper fluid, but it was bone dry as well. I called to ask what exactly did they do and was told just bring the car back. Rich (the manager) returned my call and said we only topped off your windshield wiper fluid. He didn't even sound shocked that I said it wasn't done. He said bring it back and we'll fill it for you. I politely told him I won't be returning to his location after the horrible experience. He simply said "ok". The only thing I can appreciate from my experience versus the other reviews is everyone was pleasant and there were no attitudes or rudeness. But it doesn't make up for the lack of faith I have in ensuring my car will ever receive the top notch service this location used to provide. read more

I seem to get nails in my tires quite frequently driving around Atlanta - not sure why as I am not a construction worker or anything. I have used this Pep Boys for 3 tire fixes. The first time I went there, the technician failed to tighten the lug nuts affixing the tire to the rim, so that wasn't a great experience. However, when I mentioned this at my next visit, the store manager refused to charge me for the 2nd fix to help make things right. Today, I had my 3rd tire fix (yes, another nail), and once again he refused to charge me anything! I tried to pay, but he just asked for a good review & to come back when I need an oil change.
