I got a flat tire and had my Jeep towed to the Olive Ave location in Burbank since I was only a mile away from that location. 15 minutes after getting my car there, ALL of the technicians went on lunch break at one time instead of staggering the breaks so there are technicians there continually working. Pretty much the shop was closed down for an hour and a half while everyone was on their lunch break and I had to wait at the shop because I had no where to go and I was stuck, without my car, at the shop. I got so annoyed and frustrated that I started looking up near by tire shops on my phone and I was going to drive my truck on a flat, just so I can get it serviced and worked on and I can go home. Finally the technicians came back from their lunch but I could not believe they all take their lunches at the same time. That is real poor planning and poor customer service. read more

I have been taking my car here for years but the last few times have been just terrible with customer service and service in general. I took my car in mid October for an oil change and asked that the tires be rotated as well. The girl helping me out wasn't the most customer service oriented and when I picked up my car the tires had not been rotated. Fast forward 4 weeks later I had the check oil light come on which is strange considering I just had the oil changed and as always I get synthetic which allows for more mileage. I took my car back to have this checked and Alexis was rude and dismissive stating that because it's an older car it's to be expected. I work from home and drive approximately 10-15 miles per week max. No matter how old, the oil should not be an issue a month after getting it changed. Additionally, the oil change says it comes with a courtesy vehicle inspection which was also not done because when I took it to someone else, they took care of checking that and letting me know I was low on things that should have been done at the inspection. I came to this Pep Boys because a technician noticed a nail in my tire during routine service. Called this Pep Boys and asked if they would be able to patch up the tire- they said yes. I came in and the sales rep turned me away because he said the location of the nail was too close to the wall of the tire. He wasn't able to recommend a different tire repair place, just said "try a small tire shop" and instead tried to sell me a new tire, which is ridiculous because my tires are already relatively new. I wouldn't be leaving this review if I was told over the phone "we may be able to do it, it depends on the location of the nail." While I appreciate the honesty, I wish businesses wouldn't advertise services they aren't able to complete. read more

I had previously switched all my tires for new ones in December 2021 at the van Nuys store (never going to them for service again), and one of the tires ended up getting a screw in it in just the first month. Do not bring your car here! My car had absolutely no issues until I brought it here for a routine replacement a few years ago. Only reason I picked this place was because it was close to my work at the time. Ever since then, there is ALWAYS something wrong with it. I got my brakes changed once and the mechanic forgot to remove the air from my brake lines so I had to drive back and have them do it. The thing they screwed up the most were my rotors. I don't know what they do, but I've had to get my rotors replaced two or three times because they keep getting warped. I called and asked them about it but they said the warranty only applies to the first rotors I bought so there is nothing they can do. Thanks, Pep Boys! read more

Everyone I spoke with was friendly - Ken especially, who handled my appointment and gave me all the info on what was wrong, etc, was very friendly and informative. He talked over different options with me for what needed to be done, and we settled on something I could afford. I should have written a review the first time I when these geniuses fixed my A/C that I had been driving through the summer without in just a couple hours and had me blasting cool air again no problem, but better late than never! I also love the car drop-off option - so much more convenient to be able to leave the car at weird hours than try to hustle over during the work day. read more

The AC in my car stopped working, and the technician at Pep Boys told me it would cost almost $1,000 to have it fixed. They mentioned 4 different things that would have to be replaced plus 4 hours worth of labor, which was supposed to justify the high cost. Luckily, even though I do not know much about cars, I could tell what they were proposing to do did not seem reasonable. I took it to a mechanic 3 blocks away, who immediately diagnosed it and charged me $280 for everything: a new knob and electrical rewiring, which was all that was needed. If you need basic things like tire rotation, they are ok, but anything requiring the expertise of a real mechanic, drive past them and find someone else. read more

I was visiting Burbank to see a TV show taping last week when my car broke down. I called this location and spoke to Jake who was incredibly kind and helpful. I brought my car in and they were able to identify the problem right away. They allowed my sister and I to wait comfortably out of the rain in their lobby and replaced my car battery very quickly. When Jake discovered that we had missed our tv taping, he empathized with us and gave us all sorts of recommendations regarding how we could still enjoy our visit to Burbank. This extra touch of kindness really cheered us up! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it was $250 for a battery replacement, which I feel is steep!!! I asked Frank the Manager for assistance with the matter.. He did not help. In fact, he was rude and condescending and took zero accountability even though I had to spend my Saturday attempting to sort out his stores ongoing issue with charging customers multiple times for the same item. I needed some new tires as my car still had the original stock tires and there was a crack in one of them. I was looking around at different places to get the work done, and I wanted to choose a reputable place. So the search was on! After a few days, I found the tires I wanted, and decided to try Pep Boys. I was very impressed. From the first phone call to the very end once the job was done and the tires were on my car, I received phenomenal service. I spoke with both Jack and Mario. Mario took care of the sale for me, and he was very nice. When I came in today, I was greeted by Jack (whom I spoke with on the phone earlier in the week). He gave me the rundown on what to expect today for the instillation of my tires, and he was very straightforward with me. Very nice guy, and he made it a point to make sure he was transparent on everything. I appreciated that. The whole process took a few hours, which is what I would expect, so the wait time didn't bother me. I went and got some lunch and then when I came back, walked around the store for a bit, and purchased a new air freshener. I've seen a few people comment on very long wait times, and that's to be expected for any service you're getting done on your car. Not necessarily for the work itself, but sometimes mechanics get started a little later than scheduled, or they might be a little backed up, so it's completely understandable. You must have patience! The quality control was superb. I didn't know this (as this is my first time getting new tires) but they take your car out around the block to test the tires once they're installed to check for quality. That was pretty amazing. I was also given a diagram at the end of a before and after of my alignment. It was at that point I realized why I was having so many problems with my front passenger side tire before - the alignment was off! The mechanics there were very thorough doing the alignment and balancing. Thank you to the staff at Pep Boys Burbank, especially to Jack and Mario for making this normally daunting task, smooth and easy for me - and for providing excellent service. I love my new tires and the drive home was smooth and comfortable. I will be going back here again in the future for any servicing I may need for my car. 5 stars! read more

I made an appointment in advanced for oil change in advanced for 8:30 this morning. I arrived early and waited in line and by 8:30 "Ken" started the process of registering me in. I inquired "Ken" how long would it take for the service he responded 1 to 2 hours. After waiting for 2 hours in despite of having an appointment my car wasn't taken in service. I approached Ken again asked how much longer would it take. He responded with his continuous BS with auto industry standard when we take your car in for service it may take couple hours. I was upset for not being truthful and respecting my time. I took the car down the street to Valvoline and got it done in 15min and I didn't even have to get out of the car either. I bought 5 tires from Tire Rack and had them shipped to the Pep Boys on Olive in Burbank for installation. I found their installation prices to be most reasonable. I made an appointment at 8:00am; right when they opened. I arrived at 7:40 and there were a dozen people waiting. Some were walk-ins but they still double booked many appointments it seemed like, since they only had two technicians and later added one more technician. Alexis was at the front desk and he was very nice. Manny was one of the techs and we had an issue the more senior technician, Nerses stepped in. They were all very polite and friendly. I left the store and noticed something wasn't right. It had to do with the balancing and they corrected it. Overall it was a good experience at a goo price. My only issue was I got there with an appointment before they opened and I ended up getting out of there at about 11:30 and then had to come back. My mechanic quoted me $40 extra to do the job and in the past it has taken him 90 minutes to do five tires. If you can drop off the car and have some one give you a ride home and back that would be a good option. For me, I was stuck there for almost four hours :) read more

I came here a few weeks ago to replace a broken taillight. Thought the wait time to talk to someone was on the longer side, the staff was incredibly helpful. The first time I dropped by, I was told that my particular part was out of stock, but I could pick it up at another store down the road. The second time I dropped by to actually replace the light, the attendant mentioned all of the mechanics were booked but he could take a quick look to see how long it'd take to put the new light in (which I brought with me). Service personnel desperately needs to learn people skills. All three employees there unable to communicate, make eye contact, or act in any way that doesn't seem defensive. Despite making an appointment for brake service days ago, left this place 2.5 hours later without service completed because some idiot didn't tell his coworkers I was in the waiting room until they could tell me what work was needed and whether or not they had the parts to complete the work. Note that after 45 minutes there, I did check back at service for an update, and was told they would get back to me soon. So unfriendly, I was a bit hesitant to check again, then got involved in emails, etc. so got a bit distracted. Half hour later, get a phone call from a number I don't recognize, so of course I don't pick up. After being there 2.5 hours, I go back to the desk to find out what's happening, and they tell me they called and left a message. Sure enough, they did. My bad for not picking up the phone or checking the message. Also my bad for not checking back every 15 minutes. But the person who checked me in KNEW I was on site waiting for the word that they could perform the service. But he was gone and failed to tell his coworkers where I was, or stop in the waiting room to let me know the status of my car, or that he was leaving and someone else would come find me when they knew what they could do or not do for my car. So. Don't bother making an appointment, that's pretty much useless. Don't bother getting repairs here at all. read more

I had set up an appointment for Friday at 5:30pm to get survive done. They called me that same day saying there smog technician called out and asked to change my appointment to Saturday. I agreed for Saturday at 9:00am. I show up just before 9:00 and drop off my car. I gave them a couple hours and called to check in at 11:00am. The guy says that they haven't started yet and that it will probably be done around 2:00pm. When I reminded him that I had an appointment schedule for 9am. His response was and I quote "I don't know what to tell you man, many people had an appointment ahead of you." My appointment had been set since Friday and he is telling me it is going to take 5hrs to get an oil change and smog check completed. When I arrived there earlier this morning another man was in front of me visibly upset at them and I thought he was just being rude. But now I understand where he was coming from and don't blame him. DO NOT buy a road hazard warranty, they will NOT honor it, I was told they CHARGE for nails in the tread, and they PRORATE and will not repair nails in the sidewall, and the proration has to be for a tire that is the same, you cannot use the credit for a different tire. My tire wore early needs replacement soon after 30k miles 50k mile warranty, so I get ZERO for the tire, because the life is gone and they won't fix it so I can get the Tire warranty. What in the Sam Hell happened to this place? Used to be a surprisingly good place for repair, with the bonus of the store having minor parts for sale as well. Now...it's all over. For the uninitiated If you want car service, you pull in to a "drive up service" spot...only to wait, and wait. Oh, no one is there? Go inside to the service department and see if you can find someone. If you DO...it's a 50/50 work will be done. Now, let's say you're lucky enough to have work done...it's another 50/50 that you'll get a call to say it's done or that they had no problems. Last time I went there for a repair (and mind you, it all gets talked through BEFORE to see if they can do it & the price) I called 8 hours later on the status. "Oh...yeah...let me see." I arrived to see my car in the same spot where I left it, nothing fixed. There's a million car service places in this town...might as well try another. Even if the service is as sketchy as Pep Boys (you never know) at least that money wasted would be supporting local business, right? read more

Very Slow Oil Change on Sat Oct 17th on our 04 Toyota Solara. Car dropped off before 2:30pm. Told it would be ready by 4:30pm but was not avail. until after 6 pm. They called before 5pm saying the Oil Drain Plug was overtightened by whoever last changed Oil & they were having issues. I told them they (Pep Boys Burbank) had done the last Oil Change, so they needed to deal with it. They say they replaced a gasket but No Inspection Report or Tire Rotation. Now we have an Oil Stained Driveway from leaking. Have had better experiences in the past but will never return & CANNOT Recommend. If you can't do a simple Oil Change right, why would anyone trust Pep Boys to do more complex mechanical repairs? read more

Steve is belligerent with a chip on his shoulder. I took my car in today for an oil change because as a Lyft driver I get a discount. Steve acted as if he never heard of this discount. I pulled up the discount info (see picture) on my phone and explained I'm supposed to get an oil change for 45 dollars, not the 79 dollars he insisted. I further explained I'm supposed to get an evaluation of why the maintenance light is on and tire rotation and battery check all included. He looked at the info (see picture) and defiantly responded "I don't see any of that." When I reiterated all I'm supposed to get he said "Well the guy who would do all that isn't in today." I responded Well give me the oil change. He insisted that it was 79 dollars and to get any discount I would have to show him a coupon. I just SHOWED him the Lyft discount info! I gave up reasoning with him and said just do it. When it was done fortunately there was a different cashier and I told him that I deserve the discount for Lyft. He immediately did it, no problem. He called over to Steve and asked: "Steve, you didn't give him the Lyft discount?"
