It was dated 2/14/16 and had a 6 month/ 6,000 mile warranty. 6 weeks after the work was done, my sons check engine light came on; we ran the codes and it is a misfiring cylinder- under warranty. Today we went to Pep Boys for them to repair it and they refused! They said that since the car was sold it negates the warranty!! Seriously??? How can you only back up your work for a mere weeks?? I had a bad experience at this pep boys location today. I made an appointment for an oil change at the location I usually go to. When I made the appointment no one told me this location had closed. So when I arrived there and saw the store was closed I called the number that I had called days before when I made my appointment. I let the phone ring for 20 minutes as I drove to the next closest location. No one ever answered. Once I got there and explained the situation the clerk said it was my fault for not checking to see if the original location was open. After waiting an hour and 15 minutes I returned to the clerk to see how much longer it would take. He said at least another hour. (2+hours!) That's a really long time for an oil change that I had an appointment for. The hand sanitizer in the waiting room is empty and everyone is in a bad mood (guests and staff). I originally had my car done at Pepboys in Orange County and it wasn't handled correctly. (They put bad tires on my car and stole my Bluetooth. And didn't do an oil change like they said) I went to these guys in Temecula and not only were they friendly but they went far out of their way to do a great job! They corrected the other shops mistakes and didn't give me a hard time about it. Most places aren't this cool- these guys made sure to show me what they were doing every step of the way. I made an appointment to get my air conditioner checked; it was blowing warm air. After checking it, I was told I needed to replace the dehydrator for $500. I purchased the part for $37 and installed it myself. That's a lot of labor they were charging. I returned to get a pressure test and a charge of coolant. The technician, named Yo, completely lied and said we had a hose leak and it would cost $1,050 to replace it. He made this assessment without making any pressure tests, only by looking at the dye that had been used on my first visit. No tests were made to determine this leak, but he wanted $1,050. I went to another shop where the mechanic determined there was no leak. It appears pep boys is identifying expensive repairs that are not required. I will never go there again. I notice you have issued a lot of apologies to a lot of serious complaints on Yelp. Apologies can't fix the blatant lies going on at pep boys. read more

WORST PLACE EVER!!! STAY AWAY! I use to like this place so much, has gone so down hill. Had my enterprise vanpool van serviced here all the time never a problem. There attendent George is an idiot who plays stupid when he messes things up. Manager seems reasonable but unfortunately I've had to deal with this dim wit and I'm so Done! They had my key, I had someone drop off my van for service, I called and spoke to George and told him my van was dropped off, they had my key in their register, the manager had left it in there. . He verified they had my key and I said ok so we're good right? He said yes. Go to get the van and it's not service because George said no one told him the van was at the shop! I said you talk to me yesterday I told you the van was there and you verified you had the key. and he remembers that, But keeps telling me no one told him the van was there! OMG! But I said I called you and you verified you had the key and I told you the van was there and he said, yeah but nobody told me that it was here I'm like OK I can't keep arguing in circles it's ridiculous! I made an appointment with Pep Boys to have a light bulb replaced in the driver's headlight. When I arrived at the location the technician requested my keys and went to look at my vehicle; when he returned he stated that they would have to take out the entire headlight housing to replace the bulb. I advised him that according to the vehicle manual that the bulb could be access by removing a screw near the tire well, and that I had left the manual on the passenger seat if they needed further information. The technician ignored what I had informed him, and continued to type price information into his computer and informed me that the cost to replace the bulb would be $110, due to the cost of labor to remove the housing. I requested that my key be returned to me, and that I would have the bulb replaced to another location. When I left Pep Boys I contacted Valvoline which stated they would replaced the bulb for $29.95, which included the cost of the bulb. Took my jeep in yesterday just to get the master cylinder replaced on my breaks and they swore to me it would be done THAT DAY. Our lease was up the next day and I wanted to get a little bit more maintenance done before moving out of the state. Had it all day yesterday, all day today, and 2 hours before close they call me and say they need it another day because they can't find a bolt they need. AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP DOESNT HAVE THE BOLT THEY NEED. Drove by, they were just getting it into the garage. And I'm sure they'll try to charge me out of the ass for labor. They also tried to tell me a bunch of other stuff is wrong with my jeep too, but I know enough to know they were full of it then too. Don't get tires from here! Their warranty is BS! I got 4 tires with 50k mile warranty and they went bald by 36k (all freeway miles). I went in to get 4 new ones under the warranty and they said that if I use the warranty with the proration, then they would only warranty the new tires for the remaining 14k miles. WTF? I needed to get an oil change on my fleet vehicle and this was the closest authorized servicer. I called ahead to see when would be best to come, as I'm about 20 miles away, and they advised me that noon would be best. Arrived at noon and was told there would be a two hour wait. I didn't have a spare two hours so they told me to make a morning appointment for the following week and they'd have me in and out. Arrived for my APPOINTMENT and was told it would be a TWO HOUR WAIT. The tech explained that it's because they overbook time slots and he has no control over it. I sucked it up and waited. Their oil change includes the oil, filter, tire rotation, and tread depth/pressure check. My driver's side rear tire has consistently lost pressure every couple of months for the last year. I'm wondering how it's possible that they rotated my tires when my drivers side rear tire is now low again? If they skipped this, what else are they skipping over? And why the heck does it take 2+ hours for an oil change?!?! I'll just take my vehicle to the dealership in the future and await reimbursement rather than dealing with fleet services through Pep Boys. read more

I normally like coming to this location but today I had to go into the service department to get a diagnostic test done on my car due to my check engine light coming on the last night. I already knew what was wrong with my car because I have a HUM device that is connected to my phone and I needed confirmation before I got it fixed. There were two groups ahead of me at the check in stations: a couple at one station and an elderly woman at the other being helped. The check in guy helping the couple said he would me back and left. After about 5 minutes another employee different from the guy that was helping the couple ask the couple if they were being helped and they said yes. Since I hadnt been helped yet and not at the service check in stations he asked me what can I help you with. I told him that I needed a diagnostic test to confirm what my HUM device alerted me on and then the guy said that the diagnostic test would cost me $ 100 and that he would see if another service tech would come in but had to leave at 5pm ( have you I went in around noon. I thought Pep Boys would be more affordable but the diagnostic test alone is expensive. It makes since that a diagnostic test should be free to diagnose a problem that could cost up to $ 1,400+ to fix. I ended up texting my family's top of the line mechanic and he told me over a text without seeing my engine what I needed to do. read more

I believe in giving a company a chance, so lets see what happens. You replied to my Yelp review stating, "please email us.... and you would be happy to assist me." Well, I'm reaching out. I know that sometimes a customer can come in at the wrong time and/or fall through the cracks. My concern is that this is the second time I have had a very negative experience at your store. So a simple "I'm sorry, we strive to give each customer a.... blah blah blah statement isn't what will change my mind. What WILL work for me is a complete review of customer service at this store. Followed up with training the employees on how to treat customers and a review of the management to determine if they are the issue. (And in my opinion, they are.) Once that is complete, send me a coupon or something letting me know actionable steps have been taken and then I'll reconsider coming back to this specific store. Came down to visit a friend this weekend and was in a rush to head home, walked out to my car and had a flat tire. AAA guy said I can't drive over 50mph for over 50 miles and I live 60 miles away. So I ran over to some tire places and they all said it would be at least an hour and a half wait. I walk up to this pep boys and the doors are locked because it's 8:50am and they don't open until 9am, I'm about to cry, and the manager comes over and unlocks the door to ask me what I need. Took my truck in on Monday 9:20 AM for an alignment, oil change and tire rotation. Korey Trevillison who wrote the service order told me it was going to be 1hr to an 1 1/2 and it would be pulled into a bay in 20min. Had my 2 dogs with me so took them for a walk/run returning 11/2 hours later. Stood by the truck for about 3minutes untill a guy came out and asked me what was happining with the alignment. They had not even worked on it yet! "Oh...it will be another hour untill its done." I told him it was suppose to be done and I could not wait any longer; so he went to get the service mananger. The same guy that checked me in, Korey; came out and asked what happened and he said they had a lot of alignments. Obviously this was known to him before he quoted a timeframe for pickup. His attitude was so cavalier and unapologetic when I told him I could not wait and all he said was, "Oh, you can't wait." Very unprofessional and all he needed to do is to be honest from the beginning and I would have scheduled it for the next day. If I could give this place no stars I would. It's really ridiculous that I had to come back multiple times due to my tire pressure light always turning on. I had gotten a new set of tires a month ago and my light went on. I had spent over 1K on them, 1K!!!! I made sure they were a NEW set and not some used set but they also looked old but claim it's new and that they dont sell used tires to people. When I had went in they found a metal piece in one of my tires. They went ahead and repaired it, BUT while repairing it they had broken my tire censor!! How could you have possibly broken it?!?! Either your employees are not well trained or y'all just love keeping customers coming for the wrong reasons. They said they'd fix it free of charge but I also wasn't planning on staying a little while longer since I had work that day too. One thing that also irks me too is that whenever I visit they don't even tell you your car is ready, it's like they expect you to know yourself when your car is done. Anyway, ive already gone in 3 times because my tire pressure light keeps going on if I drive anywhere outside of Temecula. Which is also a big burden to me because I commute for work all over SoCal so having a fully functional and that piece of mind that my car is okay to drive is very important for my safety!!!! I took my car in for an oil change. I was aware they were busy and I was told it would be a couple of hours. I was fine with that, as I was not in a hurry. My son and I went across the street and had lunch and caught a movie. After returning 4 1/2 hours later, my car was still in the same spot that I had parked it. When I inquired about it, I was told my car was "Pretty much next." I commented that this was unacceptable and was told " We only have one technician working today." I typically use AutoZone for my maintenence needs but Pep Boys had the struts I wanted and they were on sale. So, I took a chance and sure enough I was reminded why I don't use Pep Boys. The entire process sucked, but most specifically the poor customer service in the shop is what angered me. I order a pair of struts online on a Friday afternoon. They had a good sale for 25% off. The struts I wanted were not available in the store but I could order online and pickup at the store. So, typically if you order online you have the option of paying online or in the store. But since my parts were not in Stock I had to pay online. This part is important... I tried to continue shopping but the seal kits I wanted kept erroring out, so I gave up on adding to the order and paid. Received my confirmation email and receipt from Pep Boys. After receiving a call that both my struts were in, i went to the store on saturday. When i walked in, I saw my struts on the counter. I did some other shopping and picked up the strut seals I wanted. When I went to check out I was met, not greeted by Bree. Here is where it gets ugly... She said only one of the struts were mine, even though both part numbers matched my online receipt. Then she said, in order to get them both, I had to pay on store and she would have to refund my online purchase. This didn't make any sense to me so I challenged the need. She got loud, boisterous, and rude very fast. I asked to speak with a manager and she replied that no one was in. I pointed to the others in the store and she replied with the fact that they work for her and would tell me the same thing because, she said so. Ultimately, I had to pay for the struts again. I had a hitch put on the back to hall small enclosed trailers for traveling. With each step of the process I received a call explaining what needed to be done next, to complete my towing package. I just got the kind of great service that makes a person say wow! I went into pep boys for several things I needed... some automatic power steering and some engine oil, but most importantly I hoped to get some Freon for my air-conditioning unit to see if that would fix the problem it had. I'm so glad I went here for help! I was helped by a guy named Daniel... He was extraordinary and came out to my car to show me how I should add the Freon and went way above and beyond the normal service you could ever expect in most organizations! He is a credit to Pep Boys and Pep Boys is a wonderful store that seems to have just about everything you need!
