I was in Yuma for a short stay, just a quick getaway to relax but on my drive into Yuma my brakes started shaking through the hills and I knew there was no way I could drive back home with them in that condition so I spent one of my days that I thought I would be relaxing trying to find a place to get my brakes checked. It was a Saturday and alot of the places I checked on Yelp were closed on the weekends so I gave Pep Boys a call, told them my situation and Raul said they were busy but to bring it in and they would get it back to me that evening. I drove in and was met by friendly staff including Raul. I left my vehicle and uber'd back to my hotel, soon after I got a call to let me know the damage $$ and after giving the okay he said they would call me back when it was complete. A few hours later they called and headed back to pick up my car. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and really made this unexpected situation a smooth transaction. read more

Typical Yuma customer service. Slow and not very knowledgeable.

I travel a bit and have patronized Pep Boys in several states with good results. The Pep Boys in Yuma isn't one of them. I don't know that they do poor work. If you can get past the dismal customer service, perhaps they do a terrific job. Here's the example: I was third in line for service. The man in the white shirt, Jose, was joking with a friend in a pickup in the parking lot and ignoring the counter even to the point of waving off one of the workers in the bay trying to tell him we were waiting. When Jose finally came into the shop to serve us, the first couple were angry that they had been told their new tires would be installed in 1 1/2 hours, had waited 2 hours before returning and were watching the first tire being removed from their pickup. The second man said he was dropping off his vehicle for a cooling system flush. Jose told him they weren't doing flushes. The customer protested that he had made the appointment that AM. Jose's total response was to smile and shrug. I would love to tell you that the third time was the charm, but what happened is that one of the mechanics desired Jose's attention and the two of them walked into the bays and left me at the customer counter. This isn't the first time I have been disappointed by Pep Boys. I live a few blocks away and would love to use this facility but they have screwed up too many times. I won't be back. read more

My car started to have some serious issues just as I was getting off at Yuma at the end of a cross country drive to San Diego. I called multiple auto shops in the area and Pep Boys were the only ones willing to take me right away and fully diagnose the issue even though it was late in the afternoon. Raul in particular was extremely helpful, walked me back to my car in the shop and made sure I understand everything that was wrong and what needed to be done. Parts had to be ordered overnight and they gave me a ride to a nearby hotel, understanding how stuck I was. Extremely helpful, professional, and honest. If my car ever breaks down driving through Yuma again I know who I'll call first! read more

Had repairs done at Firestone in Las Vegas, NV during a trip. Came home to find they had not done them properly and my AC went out during 100* heat! Took it to Pep Boys and they squeezed it in with an already packed schedule to review the work and let Firestone know what was wrong and what it would take to repair it. James and Joseph worked with me to get all the inspections and paperwork Firestone would need to cover the repairs, while Gilberto and Tony worked their bottoms off to get the repairs done and put me back on the road. Was there a wait? Yes. Were the repairs done right? Yes! I'll take a bit of a wait for them to get the work done with cars already lined up outside. Customer service was top notch, and all of these guys helped more than I even expected. read more

BEWARE! I purchased a 5yr wheel alignment plan for my vehicle in 2015. In Aug 2016, I had to trade that vehicle for a new one due to reliability issues. I went to Pep Boys and asked to transfer my plan to my new vehicle since I had 4yrs left. They said they could not do that, I would have to buy another plan. I had 1 wheel alignment and 1 check up on the previous vehicle with 4yrs left. I asked for the manager and he said no, however, they would give me 1 free alignment on my new vehicle. No refund, no transfer and no credit other than 1 more alignment for the money I spent on the plan. I feel as if I had my money stolen. I would not recommend them at all. BTW, it took me multiple visits and phone calls to get them to answer the issue. They know they are wrong, but didn't want to deal with me. I am only giving them one star because I have to in order to post this warning. BEWARE! read more

Daniel and his team are OUTSTANDING in providing customer service. They replaced my entire A/C system on my Honda CRV at an awesome price and in quick turn around time. Today, Daniel was super to work with in understanding how my new wiper blade came off of my car this week and MORE IMPORTANTLY; he fixed it in minutes. No charge!!! Let me start by saying that I've had nothing but good experiences with pep boys in the past. I've had a lot of work done to my truck there. This particular shop however, has shown me anything but honesty and good customer service. One of my tires in my truck (that I purchased at pep boys) has become defective with flat spots. So, when I drive down the highway, it violently vibrates my truck, as well as ruins my fuel economy. At first, peo boys kindly said they would replace the wheel free of charge, that it would be delivered to the shop within 1-2 days, and that they would call as soon as it arrived. One week went by, I gave them a call. No one knew what I was talking about, and said they would ask the person who helped me to give me a call as soon as he was in. Three days go by, no call. So I stopped by. They played dumb and tried pointing fingers at each other. After lots of confusion they said found my paperwork and said that the tires I have had been discontinued, so it was never shipped. They said they could replace it with a completely different type of tire and tread. I didn't pay 1500 dollars for my tires, to have mismatched tires and tread on my truck. They said they would cut me a very good deal on 4 new tires, then proceeded to quote me the full price on a set of 4 and told me it was deeply discounted, even tho it was the same price as advertised on the website. I told them I wanted to speak with the service manager. He wasn't in, so they said he would call me asap. It's been over 2 weeks, multiple stops and phone calls. Still no manager or call. Very deeply disappointed with this shop. Bring your service elsewhere. read more

Horrible service!!!! I will never return to this location and I will make sure everyone I know does the same. I brought my vehicle in for an alignment by appointment and then was made to wait for 3 hours to have it completed a little after closing. Upon leaving the alignment was no better than before I brought it in. When I returned again by 1pm appointment to have the alignment fixed again by warranty I purchased the first time around they waited till 430 pm to call and say they can't do it and can't find any account that it was originally done there. Once I provided the original work order and they found the account it then became a matter of " can you bring it back tomorrow so the guy who did it the first time can do it". When I informed him I need my vehicle done today because I need to use it for travel tomorrow I was told ok we will try right now. I am so disappointed in the lack of customer service at this location and I do not recommend anyone go here and suffer the same experiences I have!!!!!! read more

Tried to charge me $120 for two low beam headlights on a Mazda 3. I've had them changed before for $15 each. When I asked for them to breakdown the charges the light bulbs were $10 each and they said it would be $100 for labor. For a lightbulb. I asked why the labor was so expensive on changing a light bulb and he said it takes a long time. I do not trust them and would not recommend them to anyone. I went to Walmart and the installed them both in 15 minutes and only charged $35 total. read more

Okay so I went to Pep Boys in October of 2018 because my Expedition was hard idling and when I accelerated it would do this jerk and then take off again fine then when I stopped at a redlight it would hard idle again.. so I figured it has to be something with the fuel injection system and fuel pump. So I took it to Pep Boys because I they were near my house and the only mechanic shop I knew of since I am new to the area. I talk to the manager and I tell him what I think and he tells me he didn't think it was the fuel pump or injection system and they could do a diagnostic and find out what exactly the problem is he says the price for the diagnostic was 87 or something along those lines. So I get a call about an hour or so later and he tells me it's an O2 sensor and they could fix it and it would be another 200ish in labor plus the part so I'm already looking at 300 and change.. so I said and that will fix it? He said yes, that after the diagnostic that was going to be the cure. I said fine let's do it. He said it'll be ready by 12 tomorrow. Noon comes around I call he said it's ready come on by.. I go in to pick it up 15mins later and when I go in to the office thinking I'm done and problems fixed, he comes back and says "oh the cars not ready yet.. come back in a couple hours.." a couple hours go by and I call they say it's not ready again.. finally by the end of the day I call again they said it'll be ready first thing tomorrow morning.." I go in at 9am to pick up my car and the manager I spoke to 2 days ago at this point says.."did you know that your car was hard idling?" With a surprised look on his face.. I say "um yea... that's the whole reason I brought it in.. that's the reason you were going to do the diagnostic.." he says "oh no, that's now what we fixed.. let us take a look and I'll give you a call.." he calls me back like an hour later and says "it's going to need a tune up!" I asked how much it was going to run me he says "well I'll put the diagnostic towards the fix so I want charge you that you'll need new spark plugs and I'll give you a couple different discounts. It's going to be 752.00 for the tune up and the O2 sensor.. I'm like okay. I can't afford anything more so please make sure that this will be the fix. "He says yes! That's what it's going to be" finally I go in to pick up my car the next day and the guy at the register wants to charge me 900 and some change I say no no no I was told 752.00 the manager comes out and says oh I forgot to charge you tax! I'm like nope I can't afford that.. I told you 752 was my limit.. he finally does some clicking on the keyboard and gets it down to 760ish.. I say fine, and I go on my merry way. Fast forward 4 months later.. I have the exact same problem happening again... and my check engine light is on.. I work from home so I just parked the car until I had the chance to take it in.. 3 weeks passed and I finally had someone follow me to Pep Boys thinking well I have a warranty it's only been 5 months we'll come to find out I don't.. I was only covered for 90 days.. the parts have a warranty but not the labor (which is the most expensive part) So after a little back and forth with the manager over the warranty he says that they will run the codes on the check engine and find out what the problem is and get back to me.. so I leave it and I'm amazed because shouldn't workmanship be guaranteed? If anything workmanship should always be guaranteed. In any case I leave and about an hour later he calls me to tell me the problem is something completely different and it's going to cost me 2,200 dollars because it was a timing belt on the right side so they would change the timing belts on both sides yada yada yada.. I ask well can you do only the right side since that's the one misfiring he says no.. then says well you can but it's going to be the same price.. then I ask okay so what's the difference in labor and parts he says 350 in parts and the rest is labor.. so I say no, I'll go pick up the vehicle.. so I do.. and the guy I was dealing with (James) won't even look at me.. he didn't acknowledge me when I came in he just asked someone to pull my car out and drive it to the front.. I asked if I was good or did I owe anything and he doesn't look at me not a glance, nothing.. just says your good.. That was upsetting because...In my discussions with him about the warranty I didn't raise my voice. I didn't curse, I didn't even give an angry tone, I honestly smiled the whole time, and bluntly asked him what my options were, and I couldn't even get a look or a thank you for coming in.. anywhosers it is what it is.. but the moral of this story is I will never ever be taking any vehicle to Pep Boys.. I went to O'Rileys and they told me the parts would be 200 and change so.. I'm very disappointed in how much a company like this would take advantage of someone.. read more

Drove up to Pep Boys 30 mins before closing (730 on Friday night) with a flat on our boat trailer, 4th of July weekend they could have turned us away but they chose to make our weekend by putting 4 brand new tires on, staying a bit late to hustling to get us out quickly. They could have turned us away made us come back in the morning, but they didn't and gave us amazing service. Thank you so much for going above and beyond! Was there 8/9/19 to get an oil change. Eric said it would be at least 1.5 hrs so at his suggestion I made appt for today. I showed him the online coupon for $19.99 and he verified it would still be valid today. Upon arrival the asst service mgr waited on me. All I could find was the 30% off. First he told me my rav 4 that I have owned for 12 needed 7 was of oil. No way. But that I set aside to see what they billed me. Then he said it would be $75 --- yes for a simple oil change and filter. I tried to take my vehicle back but they had already drained the oil. I stood and argued the price situation and said we needed to talk to a manager that would honor what his employee promised the day before (that man was standing right there the whole time. Finally the man waiting on me said he was the asst mgr and would give me the special but the extra wats of oil would be added to the total. Finally finished and got my bill. It was $23.47. I asked does that include that extra oil? He actually looked at the papers and answered yes. The receipt states specifically what I already knew-- 5 was of oil. Unethical treatment of a woman needs to be called out. The treatment and "lies" are unacceptable and I will never set foot in there again read more

wow..here i thought i was going to buy my tires at this place .i found them on sale so i bought 1 online and contacted the chat room associates and asked why i was unable to get other 3 they contacted store and manager adrian stated to them to send me in he would honor the sale for me so i drove on in from foothills .thinking i was getting new rubber .....not....wwhen i got there the guy adrian was busy strolling with sandwhich in hand i told him why i was there and he just kept walking and chewing i said gain the gurl from your chat room saidd youd honor the price of the tires ...he snapped back said she was supposed to stay on the line and she hung up .so i canceled your order.....(which he didnt cause corporate just did for me this evening) i said why you do that .he said i did not have them. ...well cant you get em from another store ....no cause they are on sale discontinued and even if i found some they wont ship them here. ..niw iv never heard of this from a large corp.but ...while all this is going on hes not paying any mind to me going over to other side of stor and just beung like i was a burden fir him . so i was picking up a trans jack from them too. so i just went ahead ans canceled that irder to anothe 80.they didnt get on top of the 325 .and i was going to have my struts done there too so they missed out on my $$$ would have been around 700. but i guess this guy makes so much money for them he can turn away customers that are willing to drop 7or.800 on there vehicle .he must really be a prize for pep boys .not they need to send him to people school so he can learn how you speak with customers to earn there business and keep them coming back. this customer is gone for life oh and i will pass the word. word of mouth is very effective in this area...no thanks pep boys your manager is rude. read more

This place is absolutely awful!! After this latest experience I must leave a review in hopes it saves someone else the trouble and horrible customer service we experienced. My wife took her car there to get a part replaced in her engine. The mechanic noticed her tires was a little bad recommend she rotate them. She agreed. After this we noticed it shaking and pulling to the right. She called and was told they don't balance 4 free. Was told she could bring it in they would rotate front for free, but not back. I called and told same thing. So they recommend she rotate her tires but failed to tell her they don't balance them. Only after there was a problem with their work she was informed to fix the problem they caused her she would have to pay. The people working there are rude and act as if the really don't care. I'm taking my money to a shop that would not consider treating a customer like this. All they had to do was balance her tires after causing her problems by rotating them in the first place. Instead they gave us the finger. Absolutely the very worst shop I've ever done business with & I'm 54 years old. This place is run by jerks, mechanics are shady if you know what to look for. I highly recommend you stay far away from this pep boys. Pep boys are usually fantastic, but without major changes to management & crew a shade tree mechanic you could trust more! read more

1) I needed to have the fluids/filters of my diesel truck changed, however - this National Chain did NOT have tools to check/change fluids in my transmission nor could they replace a water pump I brought to have replaced.....because it was DIESEL!  I also ordered 2 new tires for my truck, that were a special order due to size and required towing capacity.   2)  I arrived promptly at the designated time - spent my Sunday in a very uncomfortable waiting room, while my truck was on the rack and largely ignored.  Waiting room is 12 hard plastic chairs in the store - no TV, only auto magazines - outdated.   3)  I had requested synthetic oil be used.  I was told they didn't have enough in the store, but could use regular oil.  When I questioned the advisability of changing from synthetic to regular oil on the engine life - the "mechanic" looked at me like I had grown horns.  He finally went back into the store room and found  synthetic oil. 4)  I ordered 2 new tires on Saturday - told to bring the truck in for service on Sunday.  I was told the tires would arrive Tues. or Weds. and I would receive a call to install.  Thursday I called, they "forgot" to order them, but would do that right away.  I waited another week, no call, so I stopped in to inquire if my tires were in.  You guessed it...no tires.   I then requested my money back for the tires, although they wanted to quickly call Phoenix to try and arrange shipment, which I declined.  The manager was very inexperienced in crediting my card for a refund on tires - needed assistance from another manager and approx. 15 minutes for the refund. 5)  I had requested at the time of apt. set up to have my air conditioning looked at, and fully explained the problem.  I was told it was "just fine" - but, no ac beyond 15 mins of use - the reason I had requested they check to begin with. 6)  I now need to waste another day or more to have my transmission checked and fluid changed, and obtain new tires for my truck, as Pep Boys was unable to perform this service. I will also need to have my ac unit serviced by more qualified people - 120 degree Yuma Summers are NOT the time to be without ac!! I would NEVER recommend this particular provider to anyone!! read more

Been here a few times.... each time I'm told an oil change will take 45 minutes to 1 hour, each time it takes roughly 4 hours.. and they find a way to charge over $100 for the oil and all that time I've spent sitting around. Once instead of putting antifreeze in my vehicle.. they just filled it up with water - which was a great surprise when it froze. Lazy, unprofessional, and the worst automotive experience I've ever had. read more

So there I was, stranded 40 miles outside of Yuma on my way to Phoenix to host my mother's memorial. My tire blew out on 8 West. The lug nuts on my Ford Escape had warped, making tire change impossible. 5 hours later with the help of Jason at A&A towing, I made it to Pep Boys Yuma well after hours. I placed my keys and a note in the night drop and found the last hotel room in town. When I didn't receive a call from Pep Boys the next morning I began calling them. After some time I received a call from a Pep Boys employee from his personal phone. He informed me their computer system was down, no way to prepare estimates, collect a payment, and calls had been going straight to voicemail. They were asking customers to wait until the following day for repairs. Once I explained my situation and that 40 family and friends waiting for me, the manager immediately had my car pulled in and replaced my tire and had me on my way. The manager offered heartfelt condolence for my loss. Above and beyond. Big fan of Pep Boys now! Thank you for making a difference during a very stressful time. read more

My family and I were driving from San Diego, Ca back to Phoenix, Az when our alternator started to fail. We were a little ways from Yuma so decided to stop there. I called Pep Boys and Spoke to Joe. He confirmed that they had the alternator in stock and after hearing our predicament told me that he would get us in asap and back to Phoenix same day. The labor time for an alternator on our car, Buick Enclave, specified 3 1/2 hrs which I already knew due to the location of the alternator. Not only did Joe and the guys at pep boys deliver on their promise of getting the job done but finished in 3 hrs and 15 min from drop off to pick up. I cant say enough how nice, professional and courteous everyone was. We were in a bind and these guys came through big time. We were back in Phoenix by 7:00 pm that same day and very grateful for all the help from Pep Boys. I would highly recommended them to anyone. When my car wouldn't start, at 4:30pm, after getting enough gas to make it home from Yuma after my Labor Day Weekend "vacation", the tow driver suggested Pep Boys, as they were open after 5 pm. They were able to determine my starter was bad pretty quickly, and had the part in stock. John Parrish went the extra mile to get me back on the road that evening so I wouldn't have a hotel charge on top everything else. I have been going to pep boys since I moved to Yuma over 11 yrs ago. This past year has been the best service I have received there. Ricardo Figueroa. is wonderful and always takes the time to explain things to me. James the manager is great. They never try to sell me something I don't need. Ricardo worked with me on my car warranty and did all the paper work and order the parts for a new compresser for the air conditioner. Got a wonderful price on tires also. He took the time to show me how worn my front tires were and explained why they were that way. Needed a front end aligment. Great price on that also. read more

Nothing like being broke down in Yuma Arizona. Not only did we feel helpless, but we are not used to the hot temperatures. We were recommended to call Pep Boys. They dispatched a tow truck, and followed through with phone calls to make sure the tow truck driver arrived. Once there we were greeted by James, the service manager. He was truly concerned, very professional, and very attentive. We were immediately put into a bay and our vehicle had the proper attention. Do I recommend this Pep Boys for honest service, YOU BET! This particular Pep Boys in Yuma, AZ deserves a NO STAR rating in my opinion, but had to give at least one star for my Yelp review to go through. They had my truck all day, told me that the problem was one thing and couldn't make the necessary repairs, restored my vehicle to the way it was brought in and referred me to a dealer. *** On the plus side - I wasn't charged at all. *** On the negative side - I am in the middle of a residential move so I had a lot of my personal property in the cab of my truck. I picked up my truck and found that one of their employees had most definitely gone through everything in the truck and just threw it all back in. They also stole a pair of white shades that I had gotten from my partner as a gift. She is not too happy about that, but neither am I. I will never return to that Pep Boys for ANY business in my future. I certainly hope that they don't continue to hire THIEVES, and I suggest that if you need to take your vehicle there - for ANY reason - remove your personal property or it just may be STOLEN ... My older BMW broke down 40 miles east of Yuma on a Saturday. Pep Boys was the only auto repair facility still open in Yuma, so I had it towed there. The manager and mechanics went right to work diagnosing the problems. Though Pep Boys normally does not stock many older BMW parts, they did have some of what I needed, and immediately ordered the rest. It being a Saturday, parts delivery was delayed a day. However, less than 3 working days later my BMW was fully repaired, tested and ready for the road at a very reasonable cost. Thanks Pep Boys Yuma for your professionalism and courtesy! Ok I would have given pep boys 5 stars but they had a new kid working there and yes I know what it is like to be the new one at a job. So my app was for 12pm and I got there at 1150am. I told the new one I was there to have a k@n air intake and a k@n cabin filter to be but in my 2013 ford fusion. I told him I had to parts in the trunk for the job. One of the managers told me that they did not do that kind of jobs anymore. Ok I am pissed now!!! So I told him that I spoke to the other manager and they said if I brought in the parts for the job they would charge for the labor. After about 15 mins of checking the computer for the labor costs they tell my it will cost about $85. Ok I said that's fine with me lets do this!!!!! After about 45 mins the shop tech came out to tell me the k&n air intake was done and that it looks great and that they were working on putting in my k&n cabin filter. Then after 30min they told me it was going to cost about $30 more for the labor because it was hard to get the cabin filter in and the extra work it would take. The whole job was at 2 hours. The techs that did the job came and got me to show me how great the intake looked and the sound it made with tha added horsepower it would make. That is what I like like I said they would have got a 5 but they are starting to back away from jobs or things that do not make them that much money. read more
