Gone is the tortilla shell-bowl (like you can still get at Pollo Loco) Pepe's has a small shell underneath, too much beans, not enough meat... When you open the wrapper, the tiny tostada explodes in the to-go box, can you imagine selling food on a teacup saucer sizednpaper plate, actually smaller than the tiny $8.89 (with tax) tostada?! Luckily there was no one in line (which doesn't surprise me trying to sell $14.75 burritos) so I circled back around to ask for a plate, the kind employee gave me one single old fashioned style paper plate, I flipped my tostada over onto it and The watery salsa leaked through until my paper plate was soaked like a sponge. Carne asada has no flavor and the pastor is dry and has no flavor. Only thing that was good was the grilled chicken wet burrito. They add $4.50 for the sauce and don't let you know it's extra. They also ask if you want rice and beans in your burrito which is an extra $1.50. Again they don't mention the extra fee. Pretty decent burritos here. My favorites are their California burrito, breakfast burrito, and their carne asada fries. They provide big portions. I appreciate that they have a drive through where you can conveniently order from your car. However, that line is always long. Worst customer service ever. I asked to purchase 10 breakfast burritos. They already come cut in half. I asked if they could wrap each half in individual paper. I offered to pay whatever extra price it would cost to wrap such half with its own paper. Didn't seem like a big ask considering I'm buying 10 burritos. Their customer service sucks. I ordered a carve asada burrito, The dude was being very rude in the drive through. I asked if I could have my beans on the side instead of in my burrito and he said no. Dinner, I had the Carne Asada and it was excellent. Super Large portions and I couldn't eat it all in one sitting. I went back for breakfast and ordered the Chile Relleno Breakfast Burrito. Do not confuse this Pepe's with the one in Alhambra. Based on what I've learned, this is the other side of the family but they still have very similar menu items. I used to live in Alhambra and grew up with the other Pepe's, so this one is new to me. We came here on a Saturday morning as we wanted to try the different burrito locations in Orange County. Pepe's was highly recommended on Reddit and we decided to give it a try. I too wanted to see if I can find my nostalgic food at this location. The location here does not have indoor dining, not sure if they were doing renovation but there were tape blocking the entrance to the dining area. We order a breakfast burrito with avocados and the thing was massive. It was shared between my partner and I. Have to say that I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The burrito was so big that it fell apart while I was still eating. It had a great amount of sauce, avocado, eggs and beans which the ones we've been to didn't have. I did wanted to try the chili cheese fries but realized from the photos that it does not look the same as the ones I grew up with so I skipped it. If anyone had their chili cheese fries, let me know. I love wet burritos and the wet burrito I ordered, wasn't good tasting. The meat was tender but to salty but not a big deal. The burrito presentation was spot on, cheeses was melted but this weird sauce that was on the bottom, that looked like jello, really grossed me out. It was greasy and had onions in it, just was not good. The tortilla was good, rice was good and the green salsa they give you for the tacos, that was very good. This restaurant definitely has to look in to how the burrito tastes. Unfortunately I'm not going to get this burrito again but I'll give something else on the menu a try. I was passing by coming back from sam's club, around mid-day tuesday Jan 31st, ( not a place I would drive to because I live far from it, but being that I was passing by I stopped ). I went to the drive thru and ordered a carne asada burrito, no rice just beans, and pico de gallo on the side, and a chile relleno burrito, drove home, got home and noticed the paper on the outside of the burritos had a "CR" the other one had a "A" so my husband and I though "A" is for asada and "CR" is for chile relleno, so he went to worik and I stayed home, ( We didn't even bother to unwrap them to look at them) later on the day I got hungry and went to warm up my so called " CR" chile relleno burrito ‍ to my surprise when I cut the burrito in half it looked kind of weird to be a Chile relleno burrito, so I unwrapped it and it had shredded beef, with fries bell pepper, onions so when my husband got home he says his "A" burrito was chile relleno and brought it back home, So uncalled for, for a first time stop customer. From reading other customers reviews you get screwed at the drive thru ! Who in the world orders a burrito and has to unwrap it before aking off to make sure you got what you ordered !!!
