melting in the mouth is the best description. K-Peo Korean Chicken karaage - 3/5 the chicken was not cooked the karaage style in familiarity and the actual inside was fairly dry. The rice and corn was fine and met expectation but with the hero supposedly the chicken, I was a bit disappointed. The sauce was fine but I would warn for those that are sensitive to spicy food. This will burn and last for awhile. Either get a sweet drink or ignore this.

get twice as much meat than the regular Beef Pepper Rice. While I almost always get the Beef Pepper Rice, we decided to try a few new things this trip. First was the Double Hamburg Sizzling Curry Rice. It comes with two servings of Hamburg Steak, curry sauce, rice, corn, and onions. The Hamburg Steak was pretty tender, and I enjoyed having it with the tasty curry sauce. We also got the Shrimp Aglio Olio Pasta which is a newer dish on the menu. It comes topped with their signature pepper paste and an herb and olive oil mixture. Lastly, we got a Combo Meal with Salmon and Ribeye. It comes with a ribeye steak, salmon steak, a side of veggies, and white rice. The steak was a bit tough, but the salmon was really good! I didn't mind the green beans, carrots, and corn on the sizzling plate, but they also put leafy greens which weren't as good heated. I might prefer having it on the side as a salad instead. I'll probably skip this dish next time, but definitely get the pepper rice or one of their curry dishes! Service is very friendly!

On top of that, the food itself at the Artesia location seemed lacking in flavour. The dishes were greasy and bland; I had to drench everything in garlic sauce just to get any taste. Overall, this visit left me disappointed, and I hope the Artesia branch works on consistency and flavour to match other locations.

We need a light lunch and want to visit cafe 86 so we give this place a try as it is in the same plaza. It is semi self service. We order at the kiosk and find a spot to sit. They bring out utensils and food when it is ready. The place is pretty small so it feel tight. For the price, it was little meat. Better off to order the large as they give you more meat instead. The flavor in my opinion is lack of salt. The sauce to pour on is more sweet than salt. We also order the kid chicken tender bowl. The chicken was so cold, we end up trying to cook it on hot place. The fries was good but definitely not the chicken. I wouldn't order that again.

Every-time I go to this shopping center there's always parking. There's so many good spots to pick from but Pepper lunch never misses. Parking 5/5 My go to dish is Two meat sizzling curry with Beef and Hamburg. Brings me back to Japan! Omg it was good. Also really filling 5/5 The customer service was great and there was plenty of seats as well. Very friendly staff and very helpful. Great lighting and there was also extra sauces at the table. The restaurant is really clean as well! 5/5

Pepper Lunch!!! The beef pepper lunch is my go to! I ordered it on the app and it was ready within 15-20 minutes. Parking was pretty easy but can be challenging during rush hour eating times. The quality of food is always good! It not too greasy but perfectly seasoned. Thank you for a perfect and delicious meal (:

Ordering is easy, as you place your order through the kiosk and sit wherever you like. The server was quick to provide us with our water cups once we sat down. I got the regular beef. The food came out fast. Food was fine. It was simple. It just had rice, corn, beef, and pepper. I added some garlic sauce for additional flavor. We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't busy. The restaurant was clean.

So simple yet so quick and convenient! I was craving for some beef pepper rice from Pepper Lunch, and my cravings were indeed satisfied. Also got the sweet potato fries and the jumbo beef pepper rice, which were all tasty! Service is friendly and wonderful-- servers offered to answer any questions and provided utensils/brought out our dishes in a timely manner. The only downside, for me, is that it is pretty pricey for the amount of meat you're given. The jumbo beef pepper rice is supposed to have more meat, yet I can barely tell the difference from the regular vs. the jumbo. Price point as of April 2026 for the jumbo beef pepper rice is around $19-$20.

I had heard of but never had this place till last week, it's been something I've wanted to try for a while after some friends were raving about it and it did not disappoint. I love these kinds of restaurants and they remind me of LA county's Taiwanese steakhouses or something, but this is a Japanese restaurant! I love the customizability of everything and how we are able to make it as we want. I was a little confused though at some options being available for certain meals but not others but there's a lot of different combinations, so I just made my own via the add ons and the "2 item" plate for curry. In the future I may try something different but it all looked great so that is why I wanted to go for something that was a bit different from my friends who had gotten their usuals (normal beef, and beef pasta aglio olio) which were ALSO delicious. Add ons range from salmon to corn to parm to mozzarella and so on! They offer some great sauces to put on your meal as it cooks on the sizzling platter. Delicious and simple and pretty affordable. Soon we will have the Pepper Lunch day or something and that will have the two for one special so that could be awesome to go back for! When you walk in, you order at the kiosk and then find a seat once you are done and take a little number pad to keep at your table. There's some pretty nice signage around the eatery as well, very cute, saying things like "SIZZLE IT YOUR WAY". When the food is ready, you'll then be served and you mix around the food on the platter and eat. Portions are pretty large as well, I think I actually got a bit too much food so next time I may try something smaller with a side... perhaps of karaage.

I was really disappointed with my visit to Pepper Lunch Artesia. I ordered the Jumbo Beef Pepper Rice and a Salmon Pepper Rice. When the server first brought out the dishes, we received a Beef Rice and a Salmon & Beef Rice. No big deal. We informed them, and they returned with a Beef Rice and a Salmon-only Rice. Really good experience here. I enjoyed how easy it was to order on their large iPads, and the food came out relatively quick. The food comes out hot and is seasoned decently well. I'd say the only thing I wish is that the portions were bigger. Also, the layout of the inside is kind of weird, and I also wish they changed it to be a bit more organized, particularly with the tables and their placement. But overall decent place with good food.

tldr; a pretty bad review Ok, I love Pepper Lunch, and I frequent this place at LEAST quarterly. BUT, service on Sunday 4/26/26 around 1:45PM was not it. There was a female employee, a little on the shorter side with dyed blonde hair, bold winged eyeliner, and tats who just really came off as rude. My friends and I came in for a post-church lunch and were a party of 10. However, we all came straggling in, so in bits and pieces. This employee gave us attitude and rolled her eyes when she noticed us saving seats for our friends yet to come. There isn't a policy posted against it, so I don't understand why she reacted that way. After, another employee offered us the large table near the entrance, but they just needed to clean it (a party was there when we had first entered). I and my friends present at the time decided to put our orders in at the kiosk while we waited. So we wait patiently and then headed over. As we were trying to figure out our seating arrangement, the original female employee (who had rolled her eyes) brought out two plates and was holding them. We were trying to figure out who ordered what when she just blurted out "I'm just gonna put these down" in a really sarcastic and annoyed tone and then just walked away. Literally she might as well have told us "your problem, not mine." I understand the hot plates were heavy, and I'm not disagreeing that she should've put them down. BUT, she could have kindly asked to set them down or been more helpful but letting us know which number the plates corresponded to, but she didn't even do that. Literally just set them down and dipped. I definitely felt really angry because she cannot talk to my friends like that. Terrible customer service skills. Will I come back here? Probably because I love the food (portions are getting smaller though). But if I get this girl again, I WILL bring saying something next time to her and management because this is unacceptable. I hope management can address this issue so there isn't a next time for this type of service, whether it's me or someone else.

I'm going straight to the food. DELICIOUS! It must be the pepper mixed in the rice or steaks. I ordered the ribeye and salmon hot skillet sizzling plate. I lived in Japan for four years, so I'm very familiar with Pepper Lunch. This LA version delivers great flavor and stays mostly true to the concept. The taste is solid, though I felt they went a bit heavy on the butter compared to Japan. Portions are generous and filling when dining in. I also ordered the same beef and salmon dish to go. While the flavor was consistent, the portion was noticeably smaller than the dine-in order. One downside was cleanliness--the place felt a bit dirty during my visit, which seemed likely due to being understaffed rather than neglect. Overall, good food and satisfying, but consistency and cleanliness could use improvement.

Since I missed Pepper Lunch in Philippines I got so excited when I found out there's one opened in Cerritos. Even though I'm not gonna be able to enjoy the food on sizzling plate due to this pandemic. I still enjoyed their food to go. My expectations were met the same as what i had in Manila, Philippines. I had this concept type of fried rice in Singapore and it was unforgettable!!! So when I saw this so close to home it made my mouth water. I went in with one customer who was waiting on the side, and I was at the cashier. The one guy working totally didn't acknowledge me for a good 10 min. Not even a glance. Finally he took my order...jumbo beef pepper lunch and a side of onion rings. The onion rings were BOMB!!! they didn't make it home in the car ride, they were so good. As for the rice, it was terrible. The beef was all tough and chewy, I spat a lot out cause it was just not edible, and the rice was watery and mushy. Not even worth saving to heat up and Tweek the next day. If I ever go get jollibee, I would definitely stop in to get the onion rings. 2 stars for the onion rings. read more

Based on my 1st review, they didnt allow us to go in because they close their kitchen at 930 pm (when it says online that their hours are till 10pm) . So bec of what happened before me and my sister went again recently to buy food. This time earlier cos they close their kitchen at 930, right? We got there at 9:03. We were turned down once again cos now their kitchen closed at 9. The worker told me that they were short staff so theyre closing early. If it says that your store closes at 10pm pleasr close at 10. Btw we are not the only one who were turned down, there are more customers. If theres only another branch close by I wont be returning to this place anymore. read more

I went right after work on a Tuesday around 5:00pm it was completely empty. The food came out really fast. Food was tasty! The only negative thing I have to say is that it's expensive for what it is. It was my first time trying it. The jumbo pepper and the karaage curry was $34. read more

Me and my friends eat here last night and all i can say is the serving of the meat is very little as if they are stingy about it. The beef pepper rice and the sizzling beef teriyaki you can see that the meat is just how many pieces. The way they presented the picture from the outside is not as real when you actually ordered it. Normally really good food and service, but today the food took about an hour when we were told it would take 20 to 25 min. And when I received the food it was not to the usual standard Pepper Lunch is known for. I received about half the meat we normally get and my GFs mushrooms were raw. Dont know what was wrong today, but I hope the next time we come back it will be better. read more

Food was just OK for the price. It wasn't anything memorable. What I really do not like about this place is the self ipad order. Because it is not user friendly and people are having to take their sweet time to get aquainted with it and navigating around it which causes huge crowds at the front, unnecessary extended wait times. Particularly with my experience, even after dealing with that chaos, my order didnt properly come out. We had ordered 2 different meat and it came out with only 1 meat. Advice to management....get rid of the self ordering Ipad! It is causing too much of a wait time and big crowds at the front of the restaurant. Definitely not a smooth experience at all. read more

BIG FAN. Love love Pepper lunch!! I actually love this place so much that I tried to recreate the classic pepper rice dish from home but the special sauce they offer isn't the same! HAHA, I wish quarantine would be over so I can enjoy a nice meal in the restaurant and get the ultimate experience. My first experience to pepper lunch was at the Irvine location (diamond jamboree plaza) and found out that I actually loved closer to the Artesia location so I started to go here more often. What can I say? I am loving it! I usually order the classic beef pepper rice and with the occasional egg on top. This type of dining experience is pretty cool because you get to eat on a super hot skillet and have the raw protein & veggies just cooked right in front of you as you stir them around. Plus, the sauce is delicious! Honestly, the regular portion was just enough for me and leaves me super content. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to try something new because I would always come back for more and more! read more

I stumbled upon this restaurant because I was looking for something warm and comforting. To my surprise, I really enjoyed myself. The moment the first grain of steaming hot rice hit my tongue, I knew this was was a match made in heaven. While the food was homely and delicious, I found immense joy in the customer service provided by the staff. A standout server who touched my heart was Sarah. She just made the experience so much more lively, her bright spirit was so relieving to have as a first-timer. I definitely will be coming again! read more

This is a review for an experience I had a month ago. During COVID they had very little people working which is understandable. However, they were still very busy. The lady at the front was handling so much at one time and it's honestly commendable and impressive! She was cleaning tables, handling tablets, sending out food, charging customers, and handling with other things all at the same time. Good on her! They seemed to have only one person working front and one working the back. You guys hired great workers. The prices are a bit expensive but they can't control that. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Ok for a Friday at lunch time there was only 15 min wait for our food to go. Only one guy up front but he was rocking it making sure three other tables were taken care of while also getting our order to us. They might be understaffed but they still have good staff who are trying their best while enduring the post pandemic crazies so don't pass up some bomb food for a few bad reviews. My bf really liked the beef rice bowl. Didn't take a picture but I know I'll be going back to try a curry bowl soon! read more

This place sucks! Expensive for simple food that you can easily cook at home. Ordered classic chicken and New York steak plate for $34. This place will not survive, given the competition in Cerritos. Finally they have one nearby!! The closest one to me before was Irvine but when we heard they had one opening in Cerritos it was a must! I ordered the classic beef but if you want more meat then they do have the option for the jumbo size. I ordered mushrooms as one of my sides and my husband ordered a few more sides more than me to his plus curry. It was absolutely mouthwatering! If you love Japanese curry, add it to your order and it does not disappoint! This location was quite different then the one in Irvine but it did have an easier convenience of ordering from a kiosk screen which I believe there were 3 kiosk.. I think it still needs some organization for the ordering process though because we had a little issue. Otherwise their customer service was off the top! Aaron, a trainee, during our experience here was awesome! We had an issue because there are numbers so when your order was ready it would be delivered to you. Unfortunately someone had took my number and Aaron helped us get it settled so someone wasn't receiving a wrong order. We got seated within 5 minutes of ordering and got our food shortly after. We asked about the stamp cards for this location and they said they ran out but I informed him I had a stamp card from the Irvine location and he stamped it for me and said to come back for my free side items since we were on our way out. But he had so much patience and did his best to make sure our experience eating here was great which it was! Thanks Aaron! Otherwise, parking isnt that great. Very bad service. We had a party of 6 and this location only had one 6-people table. The restaurant was basically empty except for one party of 2 right before us who took that 6-people table. The worker there didn't let us combine 3 tables due to "fire hazard" (which I actually have never heard of with any other restaurants), and told us we need to either separate the party or we can "wait till that party of two who's occupying the 6-people table" after they are done when the rest of the restaurant is empty with multiple 2- to 4- people tables and they literally just sat down....We are like, for real? What lack of service and accommodation...we left and went to MIAN next door which has both yummy food and good service! read more

Always heard of pepper lunch, but never had the chance to go to the other locations. However, when I heard that they were opening one in Cerritos, I was glad I was now able to go to one close to me. I came for the soft opening, and the service was great. There was a line, but it is the first few days of opening, even then we were able to get in at a decent pace. Austin welcomed us and showed us the process of how to order and where we would sit. He gave great service for having so many people in line. Food was amazing, sizzling and super hot, be cautious of the plate since you might burn yourself. Definitely would come back once the lines settle down. read more

Very unique and delicious! I always get the jumbo pepper beef with onions. It's a great peppery flavor and the portion is very filling. My only complaint is you need to be careful about mixing things quickly to get it all cooked before the plate cools down. But that's the experience of it! Service is friendly and they offer outdoor seating. read more

Wanted to see the hype since there's always a long line since it opened up, my wife and I had, a not so good experience, to make the story stop, food( both mine and my wife's) were salty as hell, it didn't do justice to the "premium meat" they served, in addition my wife had to wait a long time to get her food and they didn't even bother to let us know until I had to complain about the wait. Silver lining: food could have been really good without the salt and pepper overload! Hope y'all have a better experience, but word of wisdom, food can be mediocre, but good customer service can go a long way! read more

He started saying, "Excuse me" louder and raised his hand to get the servers attention. Our server didn't return to our table until he dropped off the check. I'll take my family an hour away to Sawtelle instead of dealing with the lack of service here. Food was ok, nothing to write home about. Music was a little loud, wall decor was nice, a lot of the booth seats had rips.

Pepper Lunch in Artesia has some good things going for it, but there were a few downsides to our visit. Parking can be tight and busy, so be prepared to spend a little time finding a spot. The restaurant itself is nice, and the employees were very friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated. The food was also good, and the price felt reasonable for the quality, making it a solid option for a casual meal. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the women's restroom, which was not well maintained during our visit. The seat cover dispenser was hanging from the wall by one screw, there were paper towels all over the floor, and the toilet brush and cleaning container were visible and made the space look messy and unkempt. Overall, the food, service, and value were good, but the cleanliness of the restroom definitely took away from the experience. With better maintenance and attention to the facilities, this location could be much better. read more

I finally tried Pepper Lunch in Artesia after driving by so many times -- and I'm so glad I did! I literally live down the street, so I can't believe it took me this long. The concept is really cool -- a Japanese fast-casual spot where your food comes to you on a sizzling hot plate. It's a fun concept, smells amazing when it comes to you, and the flavors don't disappoint. We ordered the Beef Pepper rice, Salmon and Chicken Pepper rice, and Curry Hamburg & Chicken sizzling curry, and everything was delicious! Each dish had great flavor and was cooked perfectly. The portions were just right, and the staff were friendly. Overall, I'm a new fan of Pepper Lunch! If you're looking for something affordable,comforting, flavorful, and a little interactive, definitely give this place a try. I'll be back for sure. read more

Interesting place. When you first come in, you order with a tablet but the menu on the wall continuously changes so you aren't able to see the full menu and have to wait for it every time it changes. There was only one tablet that had a worker who was able to help you. I think it was very hard to know what to order since it was our first time. Food is delicious. Got the beef pepper classic + eggs. And it was worth it. Food was not too salty, it was jUst perfect. read more

I usually come here all the time and get cheese added to my meal, even for Togo, but this is time was not what I've gotten before. Most of the time the cheese is already mixed in with the meal rather than just placed on top and melted. I understand that it's busy but at the same time the cheese mixing isn't too hard of a task to do. I'm just sad that the cheese wasn't mixed the way it usually is. read more

Pepper lunch exceeded all my expectations with their hot plate beef dish. The meat was incredibly tender and seasoned to perfection. What I loved most was the interactive dining experience - watching the beef sizzle on the hot plate right in front of me was a treat for the senses. The attentive staff made the experience even more enjoyable. read more

A little on the pricier side when it comes to food but definitely a great place to eat! Took some friends to eat in the area so we ended up here and glad we did! Food was awesome and the process was easy and quick. I would say that this was definitely a fun experience but not something I could do everyday. read more

I came here to order food to go and it took 35 minutes to prepare my order. I know this place gets busy especially after work hours but seeing orders given to people who ordered after me (not only one but 3 orders who was behind me) just disappoints me. I hope they will improve their service. read more

The dishes are a little expensive, but you're getting the quality you pay for! My favorite dish is still always going ro be the Beef with Rice and Cheese and Onions as toppings. read more
