Super sweet people. Introduced themselves right as you walk in the door. They take the time to explain the entire menu to you. Pizza by the slice but a ton of non-pizza options also, salads, pastas, sandwiches, etc. The pizza is New York style - choose your slice and they heat it back up. The pizza was delicious - I had veggie. Great crust. Lots of people were coming in and buying lots of pizzas to go. Mozzarella sticks not very good - definitely frozen and store bought or food service bought. My 6 year old likes them though :) They gave us garlic knots even though we didn't order them and they were great! All in all, a darling beach pizza place with super nice folks. read more

Got the Margherita pizza and it was really good. My only critique was that the crust was a bit gummy towards the center of the pizza, not really crispy for being a homemade thin crust. Garlic knots were also pretty good but a bit bland. They did need some extra seasoning or cheese. But overall, pretty good. read more

Horrible food. Horrible service. Ordered the margarita pizza and there was no fresh basil as in menu description, but small specs of dried basil. All the food my family ordered tastes bad and no one really ate it tasted so bad. We ordered a steak and cheese and there was cut up brown lunch meat on there, not steak. My parents and I have stayed at OKI several times now and this trip we happen to be staying at a house just a few miles from this place so we decided to try it when we didn't feel like cooking but also didn't feel like going to a sit down restaurant either. We got the vegetable garden pizza, a small Greek salad (with balsamic dressing because they didn't have Greek), and a large grilled chicken spinach salad (with honey mustard dressing), all to-go. We all found the food acceptable, edible, not bad, but not amazing either - sort of mediocre for the price (not terribly expensive but, as with most places at the beach, a little overpriced) Further, they didn't have quite enough space for the amount of people there (we were there in the early evening on a rainy Monday, so I'd hate to imagine the crowd on a Friday or Saturday evening) and though we only ended up waiting 20 minutes they originally told us it would be a 35 minute wait so if you're in a hurry and there's a crowd this might not be the best place (although you could order ahead of time I suppose, and they do deliver, even to the beach!). However if you do find yourself waiting, and can find a place to sit, they do have a nice view - nothing like a pier view, of course, but you can see the ocean over the dunes so you know you're still at the beach. So, while the food wasn't the best ever, the convenient location and glimpse of the ocean make it a place we'll probably try again when we don't feel like cooking or going to a fancier restaurant. read more

We did takeout. Pretty straightforward order. Mozzarella sticks and a pepperoni pizza. Order was ready promptly when we arrived and service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately the food just wasn't that impressive. The mozzarella sticks were decent but generic. The pizza just wasn't good. The sauce was a bit sweeter than I like and the cheese was tasteless. The crust was tough on some parts of edges and soggy in the middle. Bad crust is a pizza sin I cannot abide. Unless you are desperate for pizza or just looking to eat a pie outside very close to the ocean I'd look elsewhere. It's a pity really. With what seems to be a friendly staff and a wonderful location all they need to do is up their food quality a bit. read more

First night at Oak Island. We wanted something quick ti satisfy the crew. Saw this place and read some reviews. Decided to go for it. Call several times because the line was busy. Finally got through. Honestly incredible. A great variety and delicious. We will definitely be back. Will be our first stop every year from now on. Update: we ordered a bunch of subs for delivery later in the week. Let me say, AMAZING. the subs were awesome, and delivery was exactly when they said they would arrive. Just an update. As we had feared, our credit card was double charged again (third time in roughly a year), despite the condescending tone of the girl behind the counter that all would be ok. Never, ever, ever order from this restaurant's website. Every time we do, the CC gets processed but our order never does. We actually have to go down to the restaurant because they shut their phones down (defeats the purpose of online ordering for delivery) where we are met with a "well, we're busy." This time we were actually ridiculed for using THEIR website to order. On an island as small as Oak Island, delivery options are limited. Next time we'll just drive to Wilmington. It will actually be faster and the people are actually competent and appreciate your business. Unless you have an extra half hour to dispute duplicate charges EVERY TIME you order with your credit card, you better pay with cash at this dumpster fire of a business. read more

Wow I was shocked by the lower rating. We ordered delivery from pepperoni grill on Memorial Day and it arrived within 45 minutes. Our order consisted of 2 small pizzas. One was pepperoni and the other was Hawaiian and we also ordered 12 Mango Tango wings. This was plenty for our family of four and everyone loved everything! We will be back! read more

Very cute and quaint location. If you're at the beach and looking for a quick bite The Pepperoni Grill is the place to go! The food was DELICIOUS! They have a variety of items to choose from to meet everyone's taste buds. I had a Stromboli. It was huge! Worth every penny. There are beer and wine options or fountain drinks. Inside and outside seating. Not far from the water at all. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Will definitely return the next time I visit Oak Island. read more

Pepperoni Grill is a life saver! When all the island restaurants are packed with 1.5 hours waitlists, this is the "go to" place! Dine in or they do deliver. It's got a great location right across from the beach with indoor and outdoor seating. Seating is limited, but turnover is pretty quick. Inside, behind the counter is a large chalkboard wall with the menu on it. They have 3-4 beers on tap and I was very impressed to see Ballast Point Sculpin Grapefruit IPA. You know the drill, order, pay, take a number and find a seat. The only thing that bugged me on my first visit was that in an uncrowded place with plenty of staff, I had to wipe down my own table with napkins. I did so slowly and deliberately, hoping someone would say "oh let me do that" but no one ever did. My garden Calzone was pretty tasty, the Greek Salad was nothing special, the Eggplant Parmesan Sub was very good and their pizza was good as well. One night I ordered the Lasagna Pizza = wow! Tried this place tonight on the recommendation of friends. We aren't from around here, but were in town for the holidays. We got the double double pizza, chicken parmesan, garlic knots and macaroni & cheese bites. The macaroni & cheese bites were what you would expect. The chicken parm was okay. Celiacs beware! I tried their "gluten-free" crust and was sad to find out it was not gluten free! I did my due diligence and called before I ordered and was told that it was a crust that was shipped in and celiac safe. When I ordered over the phone she said they would prepare in a safe area. After I tested the crust and found it contained gluten I called to let them know. The manager wouldn't chat with me but the delivery driver came back to take my unfinished pizza and gave me a cash refund. Was super disappointed that I couldn't eat it. read more

Bottom line, this place was awful. We had 3 different large pizzas (veggie pizza, white pizza, and double pepperoni with double cheese), a calzone and green bean fries. (Had wanted to order pickle chips but they were out.). No one of the five adults in our family liked any of the pizzas. The veggie pizza was bland (including canned mushrooms), the white pizza was pasty and little flavor, and the pepperoni pizza was super bland and certainly did not have double cheese. The calzone was not good and included a similar white pasty filling like the white pizza. We LOVE good pizza, but would not order any of these pizzas or the calzone again. The green bean fries was the only item that was fairly decent. I called the restaurant and spoke with a manager to share our experience but other than a casual sorry to hear statement there was no sense that they cared. AWESOME pizza! I forgot to take a picture before I ate so this is boxed up afterwards. I ordered a small 1/2 Kickin' Chicken & 1/2 Vegetable Garden (with no banana peppers). They were both fantastic. I honestly don't know which one I liked more. 10/10 for both types. The pizza was piping hot when it was brought to us and all the ingredients tasted super fresh. Crust was cooked to perfection.
