I love this place. Great for smaller groups, a romantic date, or to bring a few tourist friends. Parking- valet Where: take the elevator up, and a second one after. Yes - two elevators. For dinner, reservations are very strongly suggested - and even if you show up on time or early you may still have to wait. The view is fantastic. It's gorgeous from all angles as there is glass windows surrounding the outdoor seating (recommended seating). Restaurant Service was great Food that we ordered was fantastic! I loved the baked Brie, the pan roasted salmon was perfectly cooked, the Brussels sprouts full of flavor. Props to the bartender for making my drink exactly as I wanted- the bartenders are great! Patio (upstairs from restaurant - stairs are beside the bar inside the restaurant) Don't worry about those long lines at the bar, it will move fast, before you even choose your cocktail. Bartenders are fast and can make quality cocktails. read more

Came for Valentines day, the ambience was immaculate and tasteful. Rooftop seating was great at night it was just a tad cold but was manageable. Service could've been better in my opinion, didn't really check on us and added a security charge (4.5%) without letting us know. We asked about it and they offered to take it off but we had never seen it before anywhere else so we were confused. We usually tip 20% but it felt sneaky and food wasn't really up to par for me to tip that much regardless. The main problem was that the dishes came out warm which was off putting. We got the steak and frites but the fries were on the verge of being cold and was soggy. Why pay $40 for food that wasn't freshly made. We were told by a friend who went the night prior that the French onion soup and food was lukewarm too but we had high hopes they were just unlucky. The ahi poke appetizer was amazing though. I would recommend it but it wasn't worth $24 for the portion. The food was seasoned well which I will give them. Overall it wasn't anything special except for the view (which i guess is the point). Since its LA it makes sense for the prices but i think its just a one time thing for the experience. I do think it was very romantic at the very least. read more

Yesterday December 03 we went for a dinner and a few drinks and The manager Lorena went above and beyond, her customer service is amazing she makes sure all the times we had a good time and she even show us the rooftop. I can't wait to go and try to restaurant with the aquarium that she recommended too in the same building. read more

Loved the views. Great rooftop restaurant and bar. Food was alright. I wasn't blown away by it. Service was good. Our waiter was attentive and recommended great drinks. They had live music when we went which was nice. The bar upstairs was nice. Great spot to get pictures and see the city. The bar was very busy as well and they are not much seats up there. Valet parking was easy and pretty cheap. read more

We came here tonight and the vibe is so amazing! A lot of couples were out since it is Valentine's Day weekend, it was nice to see people dressed up and enjoy their time just like we did! We both ordered The Perch Burger, the fries were hot and crispy and the burger was very juicy, tender, and tasted so delicious. The manager Victoria reached out to me privately and went above and beyond to remedy my previous unfortunate experience. She invited me to bring my guest back for a Perch Breakfast experience which is very considerate of her. Unfortunately do you COVID-19, I have not been able to utilize that offer but I do greatly appreciate that the manager took the time to communicate with me so thoroughly. I definitely would go back because it means a lot when a restaurant's management shows that their patrons are human beings and not just a check. I feel comfortable recommending this restaurant to others as well because of the hospitality. read more

Everything was perfect. The first time I came here was for drinks before covid and it was super crowded and didnt get to enjoy as much. But my 2nd experience was off the chain. My hubby reservation for my bday and got seated right on time. Service was EXCELLENT, and over all it was good vibes only. As for the food, I was told the food was whatevers here but honestly it was delish. My favorite was the tuna tartare and the steak frites. Tuna tartare had such a good flavor I wish there was more wonton chips for me to dip in. The steak frites is a must must. Im craving it as I am typing this review. Salmon was perfectly cooked; I just wasnt a fan of the sauce & veggies that came with it And for the dessert, the white chocolate bread pudding was one of the best. Servers and hostess don't have the best attitude and attention to customer seems like you doing them a favor ... I have to say that the most friendly people in the restaurant are the runners and ask if we need another drink Gracias! Food part the truffle fries a te delicious and drinks good as well. Our server Darius #283 forgot our initial drinks and the food got to our table sooner than the drinks did. Turned me away at the door for wearing the EXACT same outfit I wore before. Then the valet wouldn't give me my car back without charging me even tho he hadn't parked it yet. What a fucking shit hole. P.S. I even called ahead to get the wait time and no mention of a dress code. read more

Last weekend, I went to Perch with some friends. We had a reservation but our Uber driver's arrival time kept getting longer and longer. We called ahead to the restaurant to let them know we're running a little late. We arrive to Perch and we let the hostess know we're there and we had reservations. We were 20 minutes, only 5 minutes past their 15 minute grace period window. The woman was very RUDE and CONDESCENDING! She told us we were late and to go have drinks at the bar. While having drinks at the bar, my friend went to ask how much longer. The hostess, whom we later found out is the MANAGER, said the only way we will be seated is if someone cancels. This was the rudest woman I've ever met. Her attitude and tone were DISGUSTING!!!! She eventually sat us and said we only have an hour because she's "accommodating us since we were late." AND HOUR?!?! The waiter then had to reiterate we only had an hour. This just couldn't be real. The manager then comes to harass us again to stress her hour "accommodation." At that point, we had enough. We asked the employees at the hostess station who we can talk to and they said no one else since she's the manager. This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Also, while at the bar, at least 5 other people said she was rude to them too. Unbelievable!!!! BUT THE BARTENDERS WERE AMAZING!!!! They were friendly, hilarious, and knew how to make delicious drinks. The only good thing Perch had to offer that night. read more

I am so glad that I was able to visit Perch for my birthday weekend. After checking in by the frotn desk we went all the way to the rooftops - where the bar used to be. Of course, Perch strictly enforced social distance in the elevator and at rhe dinning area. I ordered Boeuf Bordelaise - Braised Short Ribs. And let me tell you, the slowly braised rips practically magnetized to the fork with little resistance and heavenly drips on my tastebuds. The fine balance of the roasted garlic combined with potatoes purée sizzle in a fine dance that left my tummy craved for more and more. The service were fantastic and attentive. They came back several time to wish us happy birthday! Cant wait to come back. Pro Tip: Make reservation in advance and before the sunset. read more

THERE IS A 10% SURCHARGE ADDED TO EVERY BILL No it is not mandatory, you can asked to be removed, but how many people actually see it? This us one of few Restaurants doing this scummy tactic and ripping people off for some reason, and some will blame it on COVID and others will say it is to help pay servers wages, even though hardly any money goes to the servers. read more

Strictly for the rooftop bar. Pros: scenery is awesome, bouncer at the bottom is really cool and funny, male bartender with the hair bun pours and mixes great stuff drinks Cons: Drinks ( yes it's on here twice because although the drinks are great, they're pricey and you have to wait a long time in line), waiting in line to wait in line to wait again in line to finally wait in line to get a drink, seating is limited, but there is standing room. Everything here is pretty casual, although this is LA and whatever is trendy is usually allowed in. This is a cool spot to go to if you like the LA scene. Came here for a friend's surprise bday celebration and we all had a great time, by guess it really wasn't for me. I'd much rather be chilling at a brewery somewhere. Anyhow, if you like the LA scene then you'll love this place. read more

Best rooftop bar in Los Angeles! I love this place I go here at least twice a week. If you are going for dinner, make sure you have a reservation. Restaurant and bar is on the 15th floor, where there is also an outdoor patio. The Rooftop is on the 16th floor on busy nights. The elevator is closed, and there is usually a line to get in on the weekends. The bar closes between 1am-2am and depends on how busy it is. There are chairs, tables, firepits, and heat lamps. Its pretty much first come, first serve. Dress code is casual trendy to upscale. There is a DJ on the weekends on the 15th floor, but there is no dancing permitted. You can smoke on the rooftop, and there is a full bar and restrooms.They alson sell appetizers if you dont go for dinner.... I love the truffle fries. The valet is $14. Make sure you have valid ID or you can't get in. The bartenders are great! Highly recommend this place if you see me come say hi read more

I've been here before for dinner, but this is my first review after coming here for afternoon drinks at the bar. My partner and I arrived around 3 on a Saturday and managed to snag a pair of seats at the swanky restaurant-level bar. The ambiance was great and the golden hour views were even better. The subtle wink from my bartender assured me that my drinks were certain to be potent- the "Berry LA" did not disappoint. There's also an intimate rooftop bar on the top floor with panoramic views of downtown, and I probably would've spent more time there if I wasn't so lucky as to get a seat at the other bar. Had the worst customer service experience here yesterday. Had clients in town and one in particular had a delayed flight coming from LAX. The refused to sit our party as it was "incomplete". When I expressed the issue with the delayed flight to the hostess she said they they would refuse our guest to sit at the table if we were to be seated without them. We sat at the bar for an hour and a half and waited. The bartender was extremely rude to my clients and guests and continuously ignored them. It was so obvious that we just left. Was excited to visit this restaurant again as I haven't been since before Covid. This was a shit experience and a waste of time. Won't be returning. read more

I'm so glad they are still up and running during COVID19. They check you in, check you temp, you'll get hand sanitizer, and up you go to your table. I must say the experience, the ambiance, the food.. our new favorite restaurant!!! This place is not one of those fancy smancy restaurants that serves you rabbit food and you'll have to go get a burger after. They give you good portions! I wasn't able to finish gnocchi with shrimp because we had been munching on the delicious appetizers. If you dont know what to get ask the waiter, they'll give you recommendations. We went to Perch LA recently to celebrate a birthday, so this review is a bit overdue but it was a wonderful experience. Stepping out of an elevator towards the 15th floor of a building into a full fledged restaurant with a bar was an incredible sight. We were seated outside as I previously requested and have a nice view over the city lights of LA. We ordered the Chilean sea bass and steak frites as entrées as well as cauliflower and bacon mac and cheese sides. The chilean sea bass was incredible, it was soft and flavorful. It comes with a tasty risotto and assortment of vegetables and a creamy sauce. 5/5. The steak frites was really really good as well. The only issue I had was that I was expecting it to come out sliced for me, but I had to do it myself and it was a pretty tough piece of meat. Otherwise, the truffle fries were phenomenal and the bordelaise and butter were very tasty. 4/5. The cauliflower side was incredible as well. Crispy and the combination of the citrus aioli and brown butter made for a great side. 5/5. The bacon Mac and cheese was very very good. A classic Mac and cheese but with bacon, really just hit the spot and brought the meal together. 5/5. We ordered the white chocolate bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert and when the server brought it out he said that it was taken care of for the birthday we were celebrating. It is a testament to how attentive and great the service there is. 5/5 service and 5/5 on the delicious dessert. Afterwards we packed up our drinks and took a peek at the bar on the 16th floor and it was very busy on a Tuesday night. Super packed, but it seemed like everyone was having a great time mingling. We stayed for a bit before leaving, but will have to come back sometime. Overall it was an excellent choice for a birthday celebration and absolutely recommended. read more

My wife and I came here this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary, I even made a note of this on our reservation. Finding parking can be extremely difficult since it is in DTLA, but luckily they have valet service in front which is only a few dollars more than the lots nearby. You'll need to check in at the front then take two different sets of elevators to get to the restaurant. If you dine outside, there is an amazing view of DTLA that almost makes the food cost worth it. Although the food tasted great and wasn't outrageously overpriced, it's still a bit high for what you actually get. I forget our servers name, but he didn't come off as too friendly to be helping us. He was still attentive and helpful, don't get me wrong. But he never smiled or had energy when taking our orders or helping get refills. His response were always monotone and lacked any enthusiasm. I also thought that they would have done something special since I did tell them that we were visiting for an anniversary, but nothing ever happened. A few tables around us who came for birthdays, who our server was also helping, brought out cupcakes with candles for them. All we got was the bill. This is where I'm trying to decide if our server just didn't like us as customers or if Perch only does something for birthdays and no other occasions. read more

Great views! This is a great brunch spot! A group of my friends decided to have brunch here and we had such a great time. First of all the views from the 15th floor are spectacular especially on a sunny California day!! We started with a couple of mimosa's as we decided on the menu. The smoked salmon eggs Benedict sounded good so I went with that. My friends got french toast, omelettes, pasta. When the food came out it looked amazing!! My smoked salmon was delicious and it went perfectly with my runny eggs. I tried a bite of the french toast and it was mouthwatering delicious! We topped off our bountiful breakfast with bread pudding a la mode!! Perfect! After our big meal, we went up to the 16th floor and ordered some more drinks from the bar. We enjoyed their comfy chairs as we sat back and took in all of downtown LA!! read more

Stopped by here since I am visiting from out of town and everyone recommends this place for the view and ambience. 5/5 view and ambience, you get to see the LA skyline and a live jazz band was playing here when we visited. Also service is good; we were seated in a cold and windy area and the waitress was able to seat us somewhere else even though the place was packed. The food was okay. My SO ordered the steak frites, and his steak was tough and hard to chew even though he ordered a medium rare steak. His fries came out cold and were covered in way too much cheese. I got the beet salad and it was pretty good! I would recommend adding chicken, shrimp or salmon if you want to get a salad because otherwise it would not have been filling. The food overall was a 3/5. This place is pricey for the quality of the food and drinks. However, if you're looking for a live band and great views of LA and you're willing to pay for it while eating okay food, then this place deserves a visit at least once! read more

I went to perch for the 1st time on a Saturday night celebrating my birthday. The location and view were very cool. We were able to sit outside and see the view unfortunately we were in the middle courtyard so if you're lucky maybe you'll get the better view on the sides. Service was good. The food was disappointing tho it was good but not what I expected I had the filet mignon and it lacked flavor potatoes were average nothing special. read more

Lorena, the manager, is simply a queen. truly an angel who goes out of her way to make everyone feel special and appreciated. the staff is amazing and the place is simply a vibe. truly a 10/10 experience; I came here for my birthday and will probably come every single year simply because of how kind the staff are and how much management go out of their way to show you a special experience and a wonderful time. from the fantastic atmosphere to the attentive staff, this place is a great experience I hope everyone gets to enjoy. We decided to try Perch for Christmas Eve and we took our son. Friends had commented how good the food and atmosphere was but I was very pleased with the staff and how special they made us feel the whole time we were there. We were seated outside, with a great view, and were attended to immediately and since my wife and I wanted a cocktail to start, they offered a mocktail for my son. And it was fantastic. Would be interested to try the food next time, but again, the safety and comfort of the light of day.

Despite some service issues and inconsistent communication, I would still recommend Obscure. The concept is unique, the cocktails are excellent, and the venue is truly one of a kind. We split the focaccia sandwich. Honestly, the potatoes were stand out lol. The focaccia itself was pretty good. I prefer it a bit crispy on the outside, but that's just my preference. It's a perfect sandwich to split! Flavors were good, but could be a little bit more flavorful. Definitely tasted fresh though. Got the clean slate mocktail. There was a bit too ginger for my liking, so probably would not get that in the future. My sister knew a little bit more about the history of this place. I have lived in NELA for nearly a decade, and I am astounded that I have not previously visited…read morethis absolute gem. We had a marvelous experience and will certainly be back. We were initially planning to eat at Greyhound but someone in our party was like "Checker Hall is always great!" so we decided to see if a table was available. We lucked out and the host told us we'd have a 10-minute wait. After about five minutes he came back and led us to the most charming table on the patio. We had a perfect view of the activity below us on Fig, a nice vantage on the scene within the restaurant, and a nice view of the sunset. The space inside Checker Hall is warm and rich in texture. The unique position of the bar adds many points of visual interest. We started off with drinks, all of which were excellent. I had a classic martini and another guest had a really complex cocktail with a big chunk of dried pineapple. They made us a special request iced tea, and the coffee service was great as well. All the food was delicious. We started off with the feta, which was amazing. This dish could use one more piece of the delicious pita. Two of us chose the salmon skewer and another went with the basmati rice. Each of us was very satisfied with the flavors and portions. Throughout the evening we had excellent service from Gage. Thanks for adding to our pleasant experience. We did not check out desserts as we'd already committed to Foster's on the way home. We will try them next time. Overall, this was a 10/10 experience. The only dish I'd skip next time is the steak frites. The quality of the steak didn't match how great everything else was. My one big complaint is the bathroom situation. They only have one small unisex restroom for the entire restaurant, so I ended up waiting about 15 minutes in line. For a restaurant this busy, it's pretty frustrating and definitely something I hope they improve. Other than that, I can't wait to come back.

Hi, guys! I just moved to downtown Los Angeles a month ago from New York City & I am making a lot of new discoveries in this cool city - PERCH is One of Them! I came across Perch this past Saturday night while walking around the neighborhood with a friend. Both of us exploring what downtown has to offer. While the architecture here is very similar to many of the buildings in New York the nightlife here is very very very different. You can take that however your mind works :) I suppose coming from where I grew up I was expecting something Chic & I didn't get that. What I have gotten, though, is something far more different than I was use to & that was a sense that there is No Exclusiveness down here. It seems the doors are open to any & everyone (As they should be) so you get to see what makes this city so Special & that's: All are Invited! :) I saw people of all ages, shapes, sizes, sexual preferences, ethnicity & more here. PERCH seemed to have that More than any other place I went to downtown this month. I was greeted by a tall sexy woman with beautiful warm eyes, a soft sexy voice & a gorgeous body who asked if I had a reservation? -"Wow, a reservation? I thought nervously. "You need a reservation to get in?" I asked. Which made me want to get in even More! She politely giggled & said "It's Saturday night & a rez for dinner would be important as we are really booked. But the line hasn't started, yet, so if you'd like to eat Brendan or Dwight could put you on a wait-list upstairs." "Wait", she smiled, Are you new here? Where are you from?" "New York', I said. Then we hear this funny deep gruff playful voice from in back of us saying, "Uh -oh", We're really gonna have to impress you, huh?" We all started laughing because the way he said it was so funny. He introduced himself as Lorenzo. He has to be one of the coolest doorman I've ever met. He told me to go on upstairs and said someone named Dwight was from New York too & I should ask for him if I had any questions. From the lobby we had no idea what we were about to experience. In New York they would CHARGE you to get into a place like this Better Yet it would Be so Exclusive You would probably Need To Know Someone Who Knows Someone to Get In and the Dress Code WOULD BE so strict some of the people we saw in PERCH that night would Never Make it past the door. -But Not at PERCH. :) Luckily, we were dressed very very nicely because that's just How We DO it :) We took 2 elevators up - Met in the hall of the 13 floor by a 2nd cool doorman dressed in black who guided us to the other set of elevators for the 15th floor. I found out later that it goes up to 16! Getting off the elevator we were greeted by 2 sharply dressed men behind a desk and it was really nice to see more guys in suits. I told them that I didn't have a reservation & that I'm new to downtown & the lady downstairs said that they may be able to put me on the wait-list. They explained to me that they were really booked up & that they had a wait-list because a lot of the ppl on the wait-list were waiting for a table Outside. I told them that if they have Inside I'd take that it. The man at the computer told me that if anyone cancels & no one else on the wait-list wanted to sit inside then they would call me. I gave him my info & the other man (This sharply dressed black dude, wearing an impeccably tailored suit, & black 1960's throwback glasses) & I realized - "THIS HAS TO BE THE DWIGHT" that the doorman downstairs mentioned!! He was Totally giving me that New York vibe, the way he wore that suit, the way he engaged me made me feel Welcomed and right at home and I really appreciated that. I was impressed that they had LIVE ENTERTAINMENT & A LIVE DJ tooo!! OMG! The night just got better! It was PERFECT!! No Other Place we had gone to downtown has this!! Any of this!! I Sure Hope People appreciate what they have in this, man. This place is Absolutely Wonderful. We drank light at the bar, and mostly people watched, as we hadn't eaten much earlier & didn't want to get drunk too early. The atmosphere was really cool - part lounge/restaurant/live entertainment venue where you can actually meet people, have conversation & its not so dark that you cant really tell what someone looks like either. PERCH definitely Is Not a Nightclub. Its Not a Nightclub. If you are looking for that and everything that comes along with it this definitely is Not the place. The place was packed inside & out and it was entertaining watching he staff dodge & weave to make their way through the crowded space. The maitre'd Dwight was zipping all over the place. I stopped him at one point and asked him "Is it always like this?" "Yep", he smiled, "Pretty much". He then, told me that I was just the person he was looking for. DO NOT recommend for large parties! Service could not have been worse, every step of the service experience was stressful and unorganized. I will DEFINITELY NEVER be coming back again for any occasion with any number of people. The entire experience was so bad, everyone at the table was trying to solve each problem that kept coming up rather than being about to actually celebrate what we gathered for. And honestly, I usually only writes GOOD reviews, but this experience was unacceptable and left me feeling truly frustrated at my own event. If I could, I would have left 0% tip, but unfortunately that was an automatic charge of 20%, maybe that might explain why the service was so BAD. I reserved a table for 10 guests to celebrate my doctoral hooding ceremony with my family at this restaurant with the most expensive brunch menu option. This was a fixed price menu which was meant to be 4 courses. My husband and I had been at this restaurant a few times, and had good experiences (great view, historic building with nice ambiance, good food), so we decided it was a safe bet when we chose to celebrate with an important event here. For one, we had asked if they had a celiac-safe version of the menu for one of our guests, they said yes, then proceeded to bring ONLY non-safe options for the first of four courses. When I asked the manager, if we can replace her first course with something else because my sister-in-law was sitting watching everyone eat, the manager said that "she can wait for the second course". This was extremely rude and inconsiderate, especially when we paid for full four courses and asked prior to coming in. One of the reasons I even selected this restaurant was because she would be able to eat with us, but instead she ended up leaving to get food from elsewhere because she did not get fair treatment. The way that the MANAGER handled the situation as the highest ranking team member was the final straw that led me to decide that I will literally never be coming back again. Not to mention, they initially completely forgot to bring the first course, and brought the second course immediately. After we waited near an hour with no food. Second, we had selected the menu, the highest tier of the three options, days before the event and even had a congratulations note printed on the menus. When we arrived and tried to order, they said that the menus we prior agreed upon and what was physically printed on the table, was changed yesterday. Because of this, they stated that we couldn't order what we all already had decided to get... fortunately here, they allowed us to order what we wanted anyway, but another stressful unnecessary issue. Staff were constantly distracted and it was difficult to get their attention, shocking as it was a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was mostly empty. Even the staff was confused, taking away plates when they shouldn't have, moving plates when I was still eating from my plate, bringing a whole stack of 10 dishes and placing them on the table for US to pick up when we wanted them. I usually don't do long reviews, but here we are. This review is also the average of 8 people combined (our table). Overall score total of 2 out of 5. We made a birthday reservation party of 8 for Sunday 2/27 @7:30pm. We arrived around 7:35/40pm as due to La traffic and parking situation, plus elevator wait to go up as it is small. To start off it felt fine and we were ready to have a great experience for a birthday celebration. But as we were seated, it was a long wait for the server to just come and introduce themselves. Then even after they did it took another 20/30 minutes for them to take our orders. Since it was busy and we had a big group, we had to get the pre fix combo meals. The first dishes for our group took another 15/20 minutes and same thing for the course/entree and deserts. The funny part is that the bussers would also keep coming to us and asking if we were done. Even if we were the plates get all taken away but our next dish was another wait. On top of that our server was no where to be found the entire time, which also made no sense when the 20% gratuity was added to our bill by default already. Made it seem like since they know and we know we are getting auto charged for gratuity they can do whatever and they're still getting their tips. Then, when my entree came it was a steak frite, I asked for medium well which I usually get and has never had a problem at other restaurants. But when I got it at the Perch, it was different very rare and I told them nicely and the server took it back gave me a new one, which the steak was honestly not any better and if anything was more rare. I kept wanting to look on the bright side but it was just getting worse. Anyways they gave birthday girl the desert with a candle, but tell me why another table outside in the patio outisde got the whole team (all the servers) to sing for them. When we only got the busser who brought out the desert and sang happy birthday halfway and just left.... I don't know if they normally sing for birthdays but we felt racially discriminated as there were no Asians inside the restaurant at the time as well. Well as it ended I was discussing with our group about the service and food, pretty sure a server heard us talking about REVIEWS and YELP, so then somehow the manager runs over and asks us about our experience. We told him a little about this overall experience and he offered us to go checkout the rooftop and gave us drinks. But he lowkey didn't make it any better because we didn't ask for drinks or talk about our genuine experience to get free drinks and rooftop bar entry. It wasn't our point, but I do think overall the Perch needs better teamwork and everyone on the same page because why did it take forever to get our food and for our server or anyone to come assist us. On top of everything it wasn't busy too. For an upscale restaurant that we are paying each $73 for, I would expect better service and food. BEWARE My friends and I came here on my birthday last night to celebrate. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly outside with the beautiful view of Downtown La. I made a reservation for 8, however I had one more person who joined shortly after arriving. The host informed us that a party of 9 people meant that we had to engage in a pre-set menu of $45 ( minimum ) a person. No where on the website does it say this, so I was taken aback. Not that money was the issue, more so the selection of food. This was my birthday night, I had already planned what I wanted to eat . THIS IS WHERE IT WENT DOWNHILL. Our server, Peter informed us that two of the people from our table needed to sit at the fire pit , order their food over there, then they would be welcomed to come back to the table. We would also be chagred 20% gratuity. I personally was not happy with that . I obviously wanted my group to sit together. I felt it was an unnecessary task of having two of my friends getting up and walking back between two tables. However, my two friends informed me that they wanted my birthday dinner to run as smoothly as possible so they agreed. I reluctantly went along with the plan. I then headed to the restroom with a couple of the women in my group, when I came back to the table I was then told that Peter informed us that we could no longer proceed with the plan we came up with because the manager did not approve. I WAS DEFINITELY UPSET AT THIS POINT because he misinformed us completely and now we were literally being forced to have this Pre-set menu. I expressed to him how unacceptable this was . All he could say was "I'm just relaying the message" . I then informed him I wanted to leave because this was ridiculous! Peter was INCREDIBLY rude and said " fine you guys can leave!" . He then proceeded to drop the menu on the table and walked away! AT THIS POINT I WAS BEYOND FURIOUS. I got up from my seat and walked over to the manager ( Margo) myself! Although I was beyond furious at this point , I calmly pulled her aside and explained what happened . She did listen and was much more plesant to work with. She gave us a complimentary champagne bottle and agreed for us to all sit together and just pay the 20%gratuity. The night from there went smoothly, of course we switched servers . Our new server's name was Jennifer and she was great. The food it self was just okay. I wound up getting rabbit ravioli, and filet mignon . It wasn't out of this world. Certainly not worth all the drama and disrepect from our previous server Peter. Overall , I will definitely not be coming back. I would not recommend either. Being paying customer and being disrespected by our server ( never the less on my birthday) is not worth my time of money. read more

I used to love coming here and I would always take my family from out of town. This last time I went with my wife we were so disappointed. Honestly, we will not be returning. We were late to arrive and my wife went up stairs while I waited for the valet to help us. The hostess was very rude to her and told her if I wasn't up within 5 minutes our table would be taken away. I understand the policy, but the delivery was unkind. When I came up we were seated, and we ordered a beet salad and our entrees. Mine was the steak frites. The salad had maybe 2 hazelnuts and 3 pieces of cheese, with the rest being arugula and beets. I wish that there had been adequate toppings on the salad, as the flavor was lacking. My steak was good but the waiter took my plate away and put silverware on top of it before I could tell him that I wasn't finished yet. Before we left we wanted to peer over the outside ledge at the ice rink to see the view since we sat inside. Since the band was performing and people were dining to the right of them, we went to the left side of the band. It was not even one second before 2 employees came over shouting at us saying " I'm going to need you on the other side of the ropes. You aren't allowed to go to the private event." They said this so aggressively I was honestly taken back. The ropes were not even up; they were pulled off to the side, so we didn't know we couldn't stand there. I would have appreciated a kinder approach. When we went down to pick up our car from the valet, the valet started to drive our car over from across the street, when he saw another car make a u-turn to try and take the spot he pulled out of. He ran out of our car and left it running in the street. He ran to the other car he was valeting and tried to pull it forward. The other car squeezed in front of him, tail end out blocking traffic. The valet was honking and the other car was honking back, all the while our car was left unattended in the middle of the street. There were many people on drugs walking around the area, and I was worried one was going to get in and steal our car. After about 5 minutes of this, the other valet ran over and got our car and drove it away, all while the original valet driver had our key fob. It was such a stressful situation. I am so upset that our fun date night we had been looking forward to was spoiled by terrible employee temperament. I'm also so saddened that we spent over $200 for this experience. It was a night we were saving up for and looking forward to. We will not be back. read more

This place has to have the worst service ever. Problems #1 Reservation for the selective few. #2 Managers say one thing but end up doing the opposite. #3 Constant circling over you and looking over your shoulder to make sure that you are ordering drinks or food. Not worth it!!!!!!!!! Hostess tells you that they do not reserve tables in the cocktail area, and the next couple that comes in has reservations in the cocktail area. Depending on who you ask depends on the answer you get for reservations. It all started when I called to reserve a table for 8 for my wife's birthday. One of the owners told me that they have reservations in the cocktail bar area and that I should not have a problem. Please call back and ask for someone at the front desk taking reservations. I called back two weeks before to make a reservation. I was told that they do not have reservations in the cocktail area or bar area. Seating is available on a first come first serve basis. Okay, I arrived early on Saturday to get a table for our friends. When I arrived the two girls at the front desk told me they did not have reservations in the cocktail area. When I went in to see where to sit, several tables had reserve signs. I waited for a couple to leave and took over their seats. I gave the place another chance. I ordered several bottles of wine and appetizers for my guests. The sofa next to us became available and two of my friends sat down. They ordered dinner and proceeded to eat. One of the managers came by and asked them if they were with our party pointing to our group. They both said yes. The manager said that they can't sit there because the seats were reserved and that they would have to move. They got up and moved over to sit with us. The waitress moved a small table from inside the restaurant outside for us to put our food on. After eating the same manager came outside and told us that we were not allowed to move furniture outside and proceeded to take back the table that the waitress brought out to us. If you like bad service, people telling you one thing and others another, and managers looking over your shoulder all the time, try this place. Perch is a beautiful rooftop restaurant in the middle of downtown LA. From here, you get great views of the city. After taking the elevator in the lobby, we were greeted by security and sent to the top floor. We decided to stay by the main indoor bar where Hunter and Casey took great care of us. Everyone was friendly and polite. They gave us great recommendations and made our experience all the more pleasant. It was very sunny when I first sat down. The sun was shining through the windows on top of my wine, and the wine was getting warm. When Hunter saw my dilemma with the sun, he immediately tried to solve it. He gave me a cup of ice to keep in front of my glass. It not only blocked the sun but the contact kept my wine chilled. Très bien! When it comes to the food, we enjoyed everything we ordered. The food was beautifully presented and served hot. Even the happy hour items were served in a nice way. Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy. The sliders were surprisingly delicious and cooked to perfection. The meat was kept juicy and the bread was warm and delicious. For main dish, the filet mignon was perfectly cooked to medium rare and full of flavor. Everything was served in hot plates, which is amazing. My food didn't get cold. I have to say that they know how to cook meat at this place. Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff! I have to confess, I thought it was going to be another tourist trap in LA but that was not my experience. The bartenders in front of the house kept it fun and enjoyable. They were very attentive and helpful and the food was delicious. The only hiccup of the night was the security checkpoint. The officers do not let you go up into the restaurant with backpacks or briefcases. Basically nothing bigger than a purse. They give you a ticket with a number for your bag and place it inside a locked closet before giving you access to the main elevator. Other than this small inconvenience, my experience was great. I felt like a local and enjoyed a great dinner. If you are visiting LA, I highly recommend you visit Perch and have dinner by the bar, then get drinks at the outside area to enjoy the views of the city and the beautiful live jazz music. As it was my first (and possibly last) trip to LA, I was determined to dine at places that wouldn't disappoint--and the Perch did a great job! Being unfamiliar with the area and driving a rental car, I was concerned about parking. Fortunately, there's a convenient parking deck right across the street, which costs $17. While the restaurant doesn't validate parking, they do offer a $7 discount on your bill, bringing the parking cost down to a reasonable $10. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly security guard and doorman. The entrance experience felt seamless--an elevator took us up to one level, where we were greeted again and directed to another elevator that brought us to the hostess. Once we reached the rooftop, it truly felt like an oasis! The sunset, the skyline, the distant hills, and the cool evening breeze created a stunning atmosphere. As the breeze picked up, it began to get a bit chilly, but the attentive staff promptly turned on heaters and fire pits, making the space cozy and comfortable. We arrived just as happy hour was ending, and the sweet hostess encouraged us to place our initial order quickly to take advantage of the special. Although we ordered two appetizers, only one arrived--the crabcakes and they were good. I also enjoyed a glass of the happy hour red blend wine, which was quite good. For my entrée, I chose the Plate Provençal, a hearty dish of cooked veggies over quinoa. While it was flavorful and exactly as described, I personally would have preferred a bit more sauce. That said, it was still enjoyable, and I'd likely try something different on a return visit. My mom, on the other hand, ordered the Little Bunny Frou Frou and loved it. After dinner, we headed up to the rooftop bar for more drinks and to soak in the view from an even higher vantage point. The atmosphere was relaxed, with plenty of comfy seating to enjoy the night. I booked a table of 12 for my bachelorette dinner last Saturday night, March 18th. I was blown away by the freshness of all the food. The food was excellent and my party said it was a great price for all the food we received! We also had a very nice server helping us throughout the night, I didn't catch her name. I am giving three-four stars because I didn't like where the manager sat us and I was hoping for a more accommodating table. It felt really cramped and the staff didn't make us feel super special at all. From the moment we arrived to valet, the valet people working downstairs were rude, impolite, inefficient, and you could tell they were very overwhelmed. Then when we got to the 15th floor to be seated the hostess was extremely rude to me when I checked in. I didn't catch her name. But I did not forget her interaction with me, she had a lot of attitude. This was the night of March 18th around 7:45 pm. Also, our table was still not ready and we didn't get seated until about 8 pm, but our reservation was for 7:30 pm. Everyone was already present for the reservation at the bar. I am giving the restaurant 3-4 stars because of those interactions and the fact that they didn't really make it super special for us, even though it was an important night for me and I had been communicating with the restaurant through open table for the last month or so. However, I really appreciated the food and the menu that had my name printed and it stated bachelorette dinner on it. I loved that touch which was really personable. The cocktail drinks were extremely sweet and most of the girls in my party who ordered cocktails didn't like theirs, including myself with the passion yellow colored one. It was just so sweet I had a hard time drinking it. I think the night would have been perfect if the staff was a bit nicer in the beginning including valet and the table situation would have been much better. Perch is an overall decent place with a few hits and misses, but when you consider the price and location, it falls short of expectations. Located in LA, where parking is an additional expense, and with upcharged food due to the area, the overall value leaves something to be desired. Let's start with the positives. My favorite items at Perch were the peach Bellini and the steak and fries. The Bellini was delightful, offering a refreshing and fruity flavor that was enjoyable. The steak and fries were also a standout, with the fries in particular standing out due to their truffle flavor. They added a unique twist and complemented the steak well. However, not everything was as satisfactory. I tried the tuna poke stack, and unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The excessive amount of soy sauce overwhelmed the dish, making it unbalanced and less enjoyable. It lacked the freshness and delicate flavors that I look for in a good poke dish. While Perch offers a view, I personally found it to be just decent. In the end, I value the food more than the ambiance or scenery, and it didn't quite make up for any shortcomings in that department. Considering the prices and additional costs associated with dining in the area, the overall experience at Perch left me wanting more. The food was okay, but when factoring in the price, it didn't feel like a good value. I would have expected a higher level of culinary execution and satisfaction for the cost. In conclusion, Perch has its highlights, including the peach Bellini and the steak and fries with their truffle flavor. However, the tuna poke stack fell short with its overpowering soy sauce. The view was decent, but ultimately, the food should be the star of the show. With the pricing and additional costs associated with the location, Perch did not deliver the value and satisfaction that I had hoped for. read more

The restaurant is actually beautiful and I've been twice before but today was very distasteful. Upon entry my server was very stand off and had a slight demeanor about her. We sat down and had started taking pictures on my Polaroid and didn't look at the menu so when approached I told her "honestly We didn't look at the menu yet" she offered water and She had asked if me and my boyfriend wanted sparkling bottled or tap and I said sparkling (she was walking away) she said okay but they brought tap. I asked another server 15 minuets later she was about to refill the water "I actually asked for sparkling" she said "apologies I'll be right back". The original young lady serving (table 104 becfore Chris arrived late) came back and said "you ordered tap?" I said "yes" she said "you didn't order that from me" it turned into an argument on if I ordered sparkling or not (mind you we had order drinks so she serving them at this time), to the point I stated "it must have been a miss communication" her response with an attitude was "yes it must have been a miscommunication" and I responded "why are we talking about this, can you get my water please" she stated "she is getting it for you now then walked away" I noticed her talk to her manager of the day and after several times of her walking by our table and me asking another server for the manager it still was kind of dismissive. I stated to the manager everything above, she stated that the girl felt we were hostile before we were sat and also stated she wasn't our server to later state she switched our servers when I told her this experience is just displeasing to me. I then told her to close my bill and I will just finish the bottle of champagne I've purchased which was done, but they then had someone watch us drink our champagne threaten to forcefully remove us before the bottle was even finished... read more

We had a really bad experience here. The hosts at this place and whoever takes reservations over the phone need to be trained or educated. They baited me into their unprofessional service by assuring me a reservation for a spot that is supposed to be first come first serve. When we arrived and informed the hosts on the 15th floor that we had made a reservation at 7pm over the phone and that we were told to mention "rooftop bar", the first thing we were told was that we could not order food if we were to sit at the bar, which is the exact opposite of what we were told when we were making a reservation. They did not even consider the possibility that the bar that I was referring to was actually the bar on the 15th instead of the 16th due to their failure to inform me precisely. The foods are nothing special and are totally overrated. The truffle fries were as stale as dead worms. And when the server brought someone else's dish to our table, we were not apologized; the female bartender talked to us in the rudest manner as if we wanted to steal that dish when the fact was that there were no bartenders there for we to tell them that the dish was not ours (we didn't touch it)... I mean how were we supposed to know how they decorated their foods when we order 4 different things while they put the dishes in French. She kept my debit card while I was eating and she did not ask the white party next to me for their card(s) despite the fact that they were also ordering foods to eat at the bar. I felt like they did that because we are asian. And they also asked for my card info when I made a reservation and they did not even send me a text to confirm my reservation. Although I rated 5 stars, we may not revisit. I wouldn't rate down because there was nothing overtly wrong. It was a beautiful day. A little chilly so bring a light jacket. Overall, It was fine/average. Service was fine/average. I still tipped very well because unless it's bad service, there's no reason not to. I say this to say, yes, tip well, too. The server was pleasant but not necessarily attentive. Languishing, maybe. Food was fine. The bread assortment, tuna tartar and summer solstice were the outstanding players of the game. I just don't know- could it have been the tomato's in the Caesar salad and no home made croutons? The "well" charred steak. Party of (4) for Sunday Brunch. We elected valet parking since we were running late and it was a moderate cost compared to paying for parking and walking ($15+ $30 tip) nearby parking ($10-$20). It was worth a try. The experience reminded me of the ivy, and la petite. Lots of hype. I think the only other notable point that did make the experience feel upscale were the kind doormen/women at each level. Each person was a ray of sunshine. Other positives; Views. Elevators clean. Lobby clean. Isabel who helped with the reservation was a doll; she went above and beyond to help us secure an earlier reservation for the birthday man, kind service staff. Clean. I think, decently priced. For improvement; provide space heaters for chilly days/ nights. Sangria needs longer steeping(it was a little watery), make croutons and don't put artichoke in the Caesar (kiss method), more chips with tuna tartar. Refill drinks more often. If the wait between ordering and receiving food is a bit more extended; provide complementary herbed French bread and butter? Something to tide the hangry. Have more staff on deck. read more

hey folks, just writing a truthful review. i have gone to perch a couple of many times.. i just want to express how i feel about this dump. its a horrible place to go eat for bunch ,lunch or dinner. reasons why ,???there is too many !.. just to scratch the surface of perch the building is old . It has old slow elevators ,that half of the time dont work or lag and yes people have been stuck in there elevators, they also do not let you use the stairs.unless there are kicking you out .so it makes a messy situition on the thirteen floor(lobby of perch). the food and drinks are over priced and the food is plain greasy not to mention I had a friend get food poisoning from perch .on top of that be prepared with slow serves and this problems runns deep to the core, the general managers and assistant mangers are like snakes ,they would love to smile at ur face and act like they are gonna help you.but I believe its there lack of leadership and management that dragging the whole est.down. Get rid if them then maybe perch can be revived .they are the "main problem". so i urge you! that there is many different classy places to go, rather than perch unless you feel like getting stuck on an elevator/ line ,or eating greasy over priced food and drinks that might make u sick .with a bunch of stuck up staff. by all means go a head . we know that perch is trying the put out a nice and fancy high class image as a lounge/resturant. good thing i know images can be deceiving .. i compare perch to a garage can sprayed with perfume, its still trash just in camouflage . If you wondering about the roof top yes there is a nice view. if you can bet there capacity . Otherwise have fun in another line . Impressive views overlooking Los Angeles are a highlight of this dining spot. The restaurant aims for a high-class American dining experience but falls short in its delivery. While the menu is intriguing to peruse, it did not inspire me much. Although I typically avoid steaks, on this occasion it was the only appealing option on the menu as the other dishes failed to impress. Despite the top-notch service, some dishes like the Pei Mussels lacked seasoning and the Brussel sprouts stood out as a highlight. The Sea Bass and baked brie were delightful with their light and fluffy texture and creamy cheese filling. The overall food quality was good, but not outstanding. Reservations are highly recommended, especially if you prefer a table by the edge with fantastic views. The restaurant's high rating seems to be mostly attributed to its scenic setting rather than its food quality, which has room for improvement. One downside was the unexpected 4.5% COVID-19 safety tax added to the bill, which seemed unnecessary for a high-end establishment. Although the service and location were commendable, the lack of a 'wow' factor left me feeling indifferent about returning in the future. Accessing the restaurant through the office building and taking two elevators up to the 15th floor adds a unique touch to the dining experience. The spacious outdoor seating area offers a pleasant dining environment with ample protection from the sun. The diverse brunch menu offers tasty options like the generous Salmon Benedict and French toast. The cocktails menu provides a variety of choices to complement your meal. Wow this has been the worst public experience I've had in this entire shitty year. Let's start off with the main issue, horrible customer service. Valet took the car, I walked into the waiting area w my guests I brought to SHOW OFF this restaurant that I thought would be a decent spot. So From the start you have this "hosts" that greet you not welcoming, but hostile as hell. Yes I understand due to covid you might have guests that may give a hard time but please do not apply for a job that is in the customer service field if you cannot put your emotions aside and do your job correctly. Just because you are having a bad day doesn't meant we have to endure it as well. The manager honesty should've stayed home that night seems she was all sorts of panicking and fidgeting. Please hire experienced workers can handle being under pressured scenarios and not freeze up then check up on us every 5 seconds like dude... I couldn't enjoy my meal without having the manager come over shoulder every 5. Yes I said it twice so you understand how annoying it was. ONLY ONLY GOOD THING about this spot was the bussers and waiters. So to the manager that walked away from me as I was trying to get information about paying, do better or just work at a Ross seems you'd do so much better there w that nasty attitude you had. SPOILER !! You get charged "safety and clean" something bs in your order. No spot I have sat down at has charged any fee so this shows how much of a joke this place is.
