This is hands down one of my favorite new places in Downtown. The vibe is still classy and chill (so please don't go ruining it ), and both the restaurant and the terrace brought out the very best in the evening. Definitely my favorite rooftop bar in DTLA. Perch is great for locals and tourists alike. It's a great spot for after work, on the weekend, or late night. And Perch makes it easy to rest and relax on the rooftop with plenty of seating or room to stand. There's a bartender on the rooftop to serve your beverage needs, but food is not served on the rooftop. You have to go down to the mezzanine level for the dining. I've been here a few times. My group was originally not pleased with our table location. There was live music and I really wanted to get moved closer to the band. There was an open table that was reserved but they didn't show up for some time and possibly never arrived. However. Eventually Hakeem (just a little) and especially Brett relocated us right in front of the band. Needless to say, we had an amazing time. It turned out to be such a great time. The steak was a perfect medium rare and the mashed potato and asparagus were full of flavor. My fiancé got the Angus Steak Frites (Medium Rare). The ambience is very cute. And the views outdoors and on the rooftop are amazing! We had a party of 7 and we were seated outdoors. At the time, it was after 9:30PM and it was very chilly. The restaurant does have heaters around, however noneof the heatees were turned on. We did ask our waiter if it would be possible to turn it on, but I believe they could not at the moment. Instead, he did offere to give us blankets. I opted out of the blank due to personal reasons. I forgot the name of the drink I ordered but it was extremely sweet. I didn't even finish it. For my meal of the night, I ordered a Caesar salad with salmon . That was the worst Caesar salad I have ever had. I didnt even finish my bowl. The salmon was so flavorless. The Caesar dressing did not taste like Caesar at all. It tasted more like mayo with no seasoning. I was pretty disappointed with my salad. I never knew it was possible to mess up on a salad. One of the staff member ( may have been a manager) noticed my unfinished bowl and he did ask if there was anything that they could do to make things right. We wanted to sit outside and enjoy the view, but they would not let us sit in the outdoor area because we had kids with us (even though they were pre-teens, not small children). We sat at some couches inside, instead. The decor inside was still fun to look at, and the overall esthetic was great. The service was mediocre, not terrible, but not the best either. The adults in our group had cocktails, and the entire family shared some desserts. Everything was delicious. It was definitely a lively, and loud atmosphere. Probably better suited for a gathering of friends, rather than a first date - but definitely a fun spot, and one I'd come back to. My friend and I came here a Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant was empty and when we walked in we were greeted passive aggressively. The host asked if had a reservation to which we didn't, she proceeded the rudely ask for my number to look up my account on OpenTable. After she finds my account her attitude changes and is completely nice to me, walking me to out table asking if I'd like anything. I realized my friend and I didnt fit in the typical demographic. Yet once she found my account she decided to switch and be nice. We wanted to leave but we too tired to look for another place. Perch, perched on an LA high tower, flies just below it's target. Marketed as french-fab, parfait Paris, antique aristocratic classy with clout, it doesn't quite meet it's mark. Our friend, the birthday boy, was scolded for requesting a seat to complete our previously booked reservation, and wait staff, at times, served up our dishes with a tense disdain that made our time there border into unpleasant.i wasn't impressed by the decor, and where the intention of the locale was historical opulence, it brought to mind more kitsch and homey design. The views here are fantastic I came here on a particularly windy night and the waiter offered me a blanket which first off is crazy but of course I said yes and was so happy they even offered me one. The charcuterie board had a nice variety of flavors and textures to choose from I wish there was more fresh fruit to go with it but again my personal option but I still enjoyed the board. Both appetizers were deleted before entrees were ordered. I order a Chilean Sea bass as my entree I've honestly never had a bad sea bass and perch presented this meal so nicely the risotto and sea bass would just melt in my mouth everything on this plate was just amazing I would order this again and many staff told me it was one of their favorite menu items. Amazing service and ambiance but subpar food... It breaks my heart to write this review because of how amazing the hospitality is and how beautifully presented everything was. The view is amazing, the presentation of the food is gorgeous, and the service is stellar; the food is unfortunately extremely subpar. I've been here twice by now-- 2021 and 2024-- and I've had the same experience with the food. To begin, parking is extremely easy. There's valet for $14 in the front, which is pretty typical of LA pricing. There's two elevators to take upon going in-- the first to get to perch and the second to meet the first host who would direct you to either floor (bar or seated reservation). Everything is meticulously planned-- from the host, the security checking IDs, the server, to even the person who guides you into the elevators! The view is absolutely stunning all around-- no matter where you sit outside you'll be welcomed by the amazing view of Los Angeles. The servers are absolutely amazing. They're very attentive, and I wish I could give the staff a 5* just for their hospitality. Now in terms of food, I had the Chicken Supreme this time. I believe I had the ribeye and ahi tuna tartare the last time I came. Unfortunately I didn't like the ribeye last time but loved the ahi tuna. However, my review is about yesterday's experience and solely on those dishes alone. After all, it's been 3 years! My friends got the Pan roasted salmon, the bacon Mac and cheese, and the steak frites. I was able to try a bit of everything. I was very disappointed by the chicken supreme. It was not juicy and rather dry. I expected to bite down into a familiar, flavorful soft meat-- instead the creamy truffle polenta and broccolini had more flavor. The pan roasted salmon tasted a bit fishy. I mean I understand salmon can sometimes taste fishy (regardless of how fresh it is) because of the way it is cooked/handled, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. The entire dish just felt a bit... dull/boring, dry and not tender. I just wouldn't get it, my friend didn't particularly enjoy it either. The steak frites was pretty good. Just a flat iron steak with bordelaise sauce and butter, and truffle cheese fries. I didn't get to try more than a bite of the steak so I can't comment too much in depth but it was good. The bacon Mac and cheese was the best dish. I was surprised because it was the cheapest and not even a main dish. To be honest, the price isn't bad but the food tasted and felt like a "quick dinner." It's a shame because the view is absolutely gorgeous and the service feels upscale. It's like casual food with an upscale staff? Due to the pricing not being too bad, I'm conflicted if I would give it a 3/4*. I do feel like you're just essentially paying for the ambiance/service over the quality of food. read more
