What a magnificent place to get cappuccino on a rainy weekend morning. There is a leafy courtyard and beautiful old brick architecture as shown on the photo. I cant wait to bring my boyfriend back here for a romantic date. It's right next to the path to the Charles River too. The atmosphere is calm and stately, like walking into a 19th century novel. Delicious! My hubby and I came here for a date night About 2 weeks after they opened. The food was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the pasta with clams. Great ambiance and decor but it can get a little noisy with hotel guests coming into the lobby which is adjoined to the restaurant so if you're looking for a quieter spot this might not be it. read more

This place is just so lovely. The courtyard is beautiful and cozy. Our server was so friendly and accommodating -- and so was the restaurant overall. We had one vegan and one person with a dairy allergy in the group, and they took the time to explain to us what the different items were on the menu that could be modified for our various dietary needs. The brunch menu is great, and while it's not perfect yet, I'm sure the dedicated team behind Juliet and Peregrine will continue improving. The prices are very reasonable, especially when it's an all-inclusive price. Wish more restaurants would do this! Highlights: 1. Baked eggs. Delicious flavors and nicely spiced. On the sweeter side if you're used to a more acidic profile. Slight nitpick, the baked eggs came out warm rather than hot, and the eggs were completely set (rather than slightly runny, but maybe that was the intention here). 2. Catalan cheesecake dessert. The sherry-soaked cherries were a delightful compliment. Cheesecakes often tend to be on the sweeter side, so I enjoyed this nuanced take. Minor nitpicks: 1. The room can get quite loud. Not sure if it's the room shape, the walls or just some loud tables, but it got hard to hear my friend sitting across the table at times. Overall: Recommended! read more

As a neighborhood local, we have been very excited about Peregrine's opening. We were especially excited as fans of Juliet. We've been three times now and although the food has been generally good, the menu is quite brief and the ambiance is lacking. The lighting at dinner is especially poor. They have the house lights all the way up which makes you feel as though you're eating in a hotel lobby - because, frankly, you are. We've eaten lunch (twice) and dinner; the first lunch was great. Meatball sandwich and Italian sandwich. Both tasty but honestly over priced for not including any sides. Our dinner was delicious (steak and hake) but the lack of ambiance really impacted the overall experience. Our most recent lunch was rather poor. Meatball sub was served cold in the center. We sent it back and they obviously microwaved it in lieu of making it over again. Very disappointing. We also ordered the burger which was tasty but at $22 rather disappointing in size. Again, no sides served with the sandwiches. And no fries or chips even available to order a la carte. I think Chef Josh is really talented but he might be trying to be a bit too arty with this menu. It's a hotel after all and they need more simple staples to be serving 3 meals a day plus room service. We will give them a few more months to work out the kinks but definitely work to be done. read more

You know that family member that just makes you smile every time you see their name pop up on your phone. That is peregrine. The attention to detail is beyond any other dining experience I have had in the city. The drinks were always balance, refreshing, and thoughtful. The fried chicken actually made you feel like you weren't indulging, it wasn't greasy, however was still full of flavor. We had my two little nieces with us as well (5 and 7) and they went out of their way to make them feel comfortable. The food was a 9/10, the drinks 9.5/10 and the service 10/10. I will be back, in fact I can't even wait to go back. All I can say is try and go now because as soon things get back to normal, I can see this place being completely booked out 6-8 weeks easily. I had really high hopes for Peregrine as it was featured in Eater. Unfortunately there was not a ton of option at brunch time. After staring at the menu for 15 minutes I went for a scrambled egg dish and my friend went for a burger. The egg turned out fine but a bit greasy. My friend's burger, which turned out as a huge meat ball, was unfortunately not cooked at all. Peregrine served as the perfect venue for our intimate and socially distanced wedding. Joshua Lewin showed he was vested in our special day and led a team who did not disappoint. Hats off to Chef for the impromptu meeting during dinner the night prior. His engaging enthusiasm was poured into masterpiece meals. The risotto and seafood is off the charts delicious. We were very happy with brunch. Chef Josh was in the kitchen and I felt he held the same standards in hospitality and food that one would experience at Juliet. Reservations went smoothly. We had a wonderful table by the window overlooking the garden. The staff was friendly, welcoming and competent. The omelette was delectable and this compliment coming from someone who travels throughout France. The kitchen was willing to substitute the accompanying sides and the white bean salad was divine. We wanted to try out this new to our neighborhood (Beacon Hill) restaurant & I booked a reservation for my partner's birthday. They were very welcoming when we arrived & gave us a private little table with a view. We started out with drinks...which were fantastic! We got the bread with tomato and Jamón Serrano. It was FANTASTIC (a must)! We each ordered a meal I got the risotto paella (which was a little bland) and he ordered the steak (really fantastic)! We REALLY wanted to get the Catalán cheesecake that they are so famous for...but they ran out. We were both really disappointed...but we will be back to try it (I never put a bad review for a place when it is something they have no control over). The bartender mixed me a special drink, which was fantastic (you tell them the flavor profile you're in the mood for & they concoct something). I was very impressed. Being a huge fan of Juliet's (Sister restaurant) I was excited to try out Peregrine. The food is pretty mediocre and average for the price. The restaurant markets itself as Sardinian but I didn't see too many inspired dishes. We started off with a round of appetizers (anchovy focaccia, garlic shrimp, and duck pate). The three small pieces of bread tasted as if it was store bought with a single canned anchovy on top so I highly do not recommend ordering it. For the mains we both decided on the clam pasta which was decent but nothing to write home about. I have huge faith in this restaurant, the interior and staff are great but the food is lacking and nothing comparable to other restaurants in the area. The bar and cocktail menu are both strong high points as well! Honestly I rounded up the review since the place just opened and they have some bugs to fix, also huge supporter of paying your staff a decent wage and not tipping. read more

We live not far from the restaurant and were hoping for the best. We went there the first month it was open, and were quite disappointed with both food and service. We chalked it up to it being new, and needed to work the wrinkles out. Well, the wrinkles are still there. The service is atrocious, and the food is average at best. The floor manager is as arrogant as he is ignorant, and the prices are overly high for what you receive. It is a no-tipping restaurant, a fact that is accompanied with poor service. The lights were turned way up. There were no candles. The waitstaff is rather clueless. Had to ask for bread and remind our waitress to ask the kitchen about a food allergy. Also, when we asked a busboy for a cocktail napkin to place under a dripping glass, he returned and essentially flung them on the table. This could be b/c all taxes and gratuities are included in the price....no real incentive for the help to go above and beyond. Lastly, our entrees hit the table literally 3 minutes after we ordered them. if you're looking for a leisurely dinner....this ain't it. read more

A very interesting and fun meal at peregrine! First of all, the waitstaff was incredible- super kind and attentive. Joshua was our server. He gave us great recommendations and very down to earth wine advice. We started with the anchovy focaccia with cultured butter, which was delicious, and the parmigiana and honey, also excellent (how could you go wrong with hunks of cheese and honey??). We had a more difficult time with the entree course- there were limited vegetarian options, but the chef was kind enough to make a pasta with seasonal vegetables in white wine sauce, which was excellent. We also ordered the tagliatelle, which was almost too salty to eat. I wonder if there were recent changes to the menu, because it came with clams and at a cheaper price than the menu claimed. Hopefully this is just a kink that will be worked out soon! For dessert, we had the mint panna cotta, which was unusual and refreshing. Overall, a very fun dining experience and we look forward to returning (probably for a special occasion, since it is not very cheap!) I ordered takeout for lunch. Traveled from Lexington to pick it up. I ordered the Sardinian sandwich, olives and cookies for the cookie jar. They put in a slice of Chocolate Pie. Everything was packed well and environmentally sound. The cookies went in the glass cookie jar, and the sandwich was delicious but the pie: oh the pie. We recently stayed at the Whitney hotel and were so excited for a staycation with room service food from Peregrine. We love Juliet and had high expectations. Those expectations, however, weren't met. To start, we got the bread plate, the antipasti for two and the jamon. The char mouse and the chicken and rice terrine were both pretty dull and really under seasoned. The terrine barely tasted like anything at all. For our mains we got the black pasta and the fried chicken and collards. The pasta, again, was extremely under seasoned... so much so I literally questioned whether I had COVID (eek!). The fried chicken, while flavored well and had a nice kick from the chili, was mostly a miss. The white meat was SUPER dry; so dry I couldn't eat it, and the fact that it was plated *on top* of the collards (which were pretty tasty) and mustardy sauce was really, poorly conceptualized. By the time the room service meal was brought up to us, the (what might have been) once crispy chicken, was now super soggy. Might have been better if the collards were in their own dish on the side, so the chicken stays crispy. For dessert we got the chocolate chess pie, which was tiny but really good. I can't say our experience was good enough for us to give it another go. And while $133 isn't a bad price for two people as a nicer spot, it was 100% not worth the quality of the food.
