Great spot for bdays or group date night. Food was actually pretty good and you must try their pergola sliders and lamb chops. They were delicious! It's a restaurant that also sells hookah so for those who loves the vibe will def love this spot. The service was great. I came here for a friend's dinner and I have to say I really did enjoy the food and atmosphere. Played good music. We did come on a Tuesday but I heard on weekends it's very lively after dinner. For cocktail the "always a yes" was a fav from the menu. read more

Top of the line hookah, that they continue refilling all night and the flavors were great. We went here for my sister's birthday. The food here is actually good and the portions are big enough to take home. The only thing is that the drinks are pricey. The hookah is too but it's worth it due to the selection of flavors and refills. The waitress was very kind and attentive. The ambiance is definitely that of a lounge, it was very dim on the inside. You must have ID to get in at the door during the later hours as they have security there. Overall, I would definitely recommend for a fun night out. read more

I've been to Pergola about 2x during the evening hours and it's always a positive vibe ! The restaurant is small but the ambience is amazing. Reminds me of the Middle Eastern nightlife. The staff is very professional from the Hostess to the cleaners. Whether you're there for delicious Mediterranean food , drinks , entertainment or hookah; There's something for everyone ! My first visit to Pergola i saw a celebrity (Latto) and other celebrities frequent here. Pretty cool! I had the Lamb burger which was delicious with seasoned fries. The food came out hot and cooked perfectly ! My date had Alfredo pasta with side spinach which was lovely and we ordered Hookah as well. 9/10 Pergola is very dim but Carrie's candles on every table. It had a full bar with flat screens often tuned into the latest sports show. Staff are very attentive and professional , your table will be cleared within seconds of each course. The restrooms are clean and stocked with amenities accordingly. Parking around the area isn't too bad at night for those who drive, as parking meter rules end. read more

The wait was long with reservations. The food was mediocre, the hookah was overpriced and harsh. I didn't even know who my waiter was because it was someone different every time coming to our table.. Love this place the food is great. It was a vibe great music. But service was terrible, as someone who has worked in hospitality I pay attention to detail & can understand if a place is busy. The server was standing around talking to coworkers. Never offered or brought water the drink doesn't come w a straw.I had to ask for napkins didnt place one. We ordered a beer she brought the bottle.. i had to call her over or ask other staff for stuff. She wasn't busy just lazy and people like this bring the place down a star. Came here with my gfs for girls night dinner and drinks on a Friday night. We had reservations for 8:30pm. They do have a bouncer outside checking IDs, must be if it's after 8pm. Music bumping, hookah, tables all around. They have an upstairs which I didn't get to see since our table was downstairs. Seating is tight especially if you get the middle tables, but you make it work. It seemed to be like 2 hostess and they both were confused when we walked in as none of them asked to help us, until one of my gfs said something. Our server was nice. Food came out in a timely manner. Wings were delicious. Food was great. Lemon Chicken, Salmon and Mediterranean Pasta all Soo good. No complaints for that. Hookah is a bit pricey, you can order it anytime. They change coal frequently. We stayed at our table as long as we could. Around 11:30, server advised us the table was going to another reservation. Our bill was around $350 for 3 ladies with the hookah included. We each ordered about 3-4 drinks each as well. I will def be back for a date night with my husband! read more

This place has a a lot of potential but lacks it. First off, the service is mediocre and the staff doesn't have a care. They do have good music and the ambience is nice but food is average at best. Orders the chicken kabob and disappointed to say, they use chicken thigh and not breast which isn't a usually thing for Mediterranean chicken kabob. The chicken was extremely fatty and not edible. The rice tasted just like cardboard. Lobster pasta was okay. They are generous with the amount of lobster. Hookah is very over priced. This place is soooo overrated. I find it pretty ridiculous that they charge you $80 per person to eat when you have a certain amount of people in your party. We literally all had to order 2 apps each and an entree. The waitress was super rude. She actually rolled her eyes at us when we asked her something and told us we could share a menu when we requested another one. I wish I remembered her name. I understood that it was busy but that's no way to treat people that are giving you money. I enjoyed the lamb sliders. The wings were okay and the actual lamb was okay. A little under-seasoned. They also charged us for water. What the actual hell? Lol. The first table we were seated at was wet all over due to the vent leaking. I came for a friend's celebratory dinner. Came here last week to celebrate my partners birthday! We had a great time and the food was amazing! Service was great too! We got there right at the end of happy hour so we were able to enjoy some of the happy hour specials before ordering our main meal! Ambiance? It's stunning inside! We frequent here mainly for the hookah and bar but went to celebrate a birthday once as well where we actually ate everything was amazing. We had lamb chops, chicken wings, lamb sliders, and even a salad that was amazing. We were seated upstairs which had a nice vibe to it and they played really good music. Ambiance The ambiance was amazing. It was very low key, chill place. Food I ordered the ribs with potatoes and a side of spinach. The lamb chops were soft and tender. Cooked juat right. The spinach was sauteed extremely well, with just enough garlic. I order the always yes lychee cocktail. This cocktail was okay. For hookah I ordered the perfect peach. Very smooth hookah, it did have to be pulled a little more. Although it was packed well enough with hookah flavor. Service The service was great. I can tell the host, servers, hookah runners, and food runners work extremely well as a team. When I entered the host was very accommodating and informative. They were attentive, checked in just enough. The hookah runner flipped the coals at precisely the right time. My table was cleared as I finished each dish. Where the servers can do better is, double checking for nut allergies before bringing desserts out for a birthday. I think also being that most of their clientele is diversified. I would like to see and know that there's Mixed race and black women working there. I didn't see much of that for a Saturday Night. Other than that, I have no conplaints. Fiends had told me about this place for years and I never came until a few weekends ago. I was easily able to make a reservation a couple weeks out for 9 pm for 4 people. It feels upscale though some people are way more dressed up than others. The food is REALLY good. Better than I expected. I loved the wings, crab cake, and Mediterranean hummus. The Borderline Passion and Jalisco Rose drinks were really good too! The music gets loud and it goes more from a restaurant/lounge vibe to club vibe around 9:30/10. read more

We used to absolutely love this place. Great hookah and good happy hour deals for drinks and apps if you're free to stop in before 7pm. But recently their customer service has gone downhill. The last few times we were in our server disappeared and only checked in once or twice. Waters were not refilled, we had to flag someone down to ask for the coals on our hookah to be changed out. The very last time we went we were told that for women if you are wearing flats you are not allowed to sit at the bar. You can only sit at the bar if you're wearing heels. What a ridiculous rule to have in place. I was wearing my Hermes Oran sandals so it's not like they were some cheap flip flops that looked tacky. Very disappointing that we were turned away for that reason when we usually spend hundreds every time we eat there. read more

I had humiliating and concerning experience last night. I was not allowed to dine in at this restaurant because there is a note in their system associated to my phone number that I was drunk and belligerent and had to be escorted out on July 26, 2021. Not only was I was out of town in July of summer 2021, I have never been escorted out of any establishment. In an attempt to clear my name, I pleaded with a guy who identified himself as the manager (Ali - photos below) that their information was incorrect and I asked for any other proof aside from the note (I know there isn't any, because it didn't happen). Ali was dismissive and only responded aggressively that he remembers me vividly, that I was physically fighting him, wearing a yellow dress. Whoever that was (if it happened at all), wasn't me. This morning, to further bolster my defense, I contacted OpenTable and Resy inquiring for reservation details that was made in July. Here is their response and I retained an email copy. Opentable "As discussed in our chat today, I do not see any reservations with your name, nor the phone number at Pergola on W 28th St for July 26 2021, nor for any of the other days in July of 2021". Resy "Upon review, we are not seeing any reservations before January 2023 on the account." I also learned that this restaurant is well known for their discrimination and mistreatment of minorities, which is public (see below link). I'm not sure why this note is on my account, but since I wasn't given an opportunity to defend myself and my name, I'm doing it here. Pergola has two floors. My group and I sat upstairs. The restaurant had dim lighting with candles. The vibe was nice. We ordered drinks and two hookahs for the table. The hookahs were big and placed on the floor. I ordered a drink called Sugar Daddy which was Don Julio Blanco, pink grapefruit, pineapple, and guava. I really liked it. For dinner, I got the braised short rib with mashed potatoes and carrots. The food was 10/10 like so good. My sister got the lamb chops and loved them. The service was good as well. Food - we had appetizers. The pork sliders, the tzatziki and pergola wings. Everything tasted good but I enjoyed the dishes in the order I wrote them Service - we didn't have a reservation but was able to get seated immediately nonetheless. The main level with the bar was completely full. We were seated upstairs and there were three tables taken. By time we left, the entire section was full! Ambiance - this place is lively and full of a mix of ppl! It's dimly lit and you can hear conversation throughout the restaurant. I think music was playing but I honestly cant remember. Came to pergola for a dinner party and loved the food. The lamb burger was our favorite -- very flavorful and juicy. The pergola wings were also really good! Came with a great sauce. Hookah is very popular here, we shared one for the table and it lasted several hours. The only complaint I have is the seating is very uncomfortable upstairs. I'm not sure the low lounge chairs were intended for adults. Overall I recommend for hookah or food. read more

The suits were daily, the walls were gold, and the pressure was so consuming that even success could feel like a form of attrition. After a few years, I moved to a smaller firm with Southern roots, where the culture was more humane, the work gave me greater autonomy, and I produced some of the strongest results of my career, even within an industry still governed by fear, greed, and status. Inside, the red booths, low lighting, generous spacing, and hand-painted monkey murals made lunch feel ceremonial without becoming stiff. The room was timeless and handsome, with polished service, quality food, and the subtle assurance of a place where you could be proud to bring someone important. I especially remember sitting in one of those booths with two mentors, each only a few years older than I was and therefore close enough in vintage to feel relatable, trustworthy, and genuinely within reach. One had entered my life after I left the larger firm and helped me understand an earlier chapter that had also ended abruptly and, at the time, felt deeply unfair; the other had guided me through the smaller firm where I finally found a more sustainable way to work. Over that long lunch, I introduced them, we discussed several promising ideas, and for a moment my career seemed to have reached the point where relationships, experience, and opportunity were finally converging. One of those ideas consumed an extraordinary amount of my time and energy, and I believed it might become the foundation of my next chapter. It was just average. Another friend ordered the short rib stroganoff. The flavor was decent, but it was far too rich and heavy. As someone whose palate is split 50/50 between Western and Chinese cuisine, I could manage only five bites at most. If you have a palate that prefers 100% Chinese food, proceed with caution on this dish. Friends ordered sides of mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. These are dishes originally meant for low-income Americans to fill up on cheaply; there's no limit to how good they can be, but also no floor to how bad they can get. Both were on par with the average quality found in upscale restaurants. Honestly, these are two dishes I would never order myself. To sum up: the atmosphere was great. It's also hard to get a reservation; the place was packed when we had lunch at 2 PM. Aside from that monkey bread, I didn't feel like anything else justified the price or offered something you couldn't find elsewhere. I don't quite get the hype. Perhaps I just didn't order the right dishes; maybe next time I'll try the burger and the steak.

HORRIBLE! - Food Poisoning! Went this weekend for my friends birthday, the minute we got there the hostess was giving us a hard time about getting a table for the 10 of us, even though the place was completely empty. Our waiter was not helpful, we kept having to track him down to order things. He even forgot to put in someones order, so when everyones food came out she got her plate 30 minutes later. The food had a nice presentation and seemed good, until later that night me and 4 other people got extremely sick, only to find out we had food poisoning - (and we're still sick!) Everything is overpriced, and they will charge you for everything and anything! Then when the bill came and we questioned the waiter what some of the charges were, he got very defensive and angry. We paid the bill, including the 20% gratuity that was automatically included, even though our waiter was so terrible he did not deserve the $50 tip. While we were leaving we told the waiter we were disappointed, and, instead of apologizing, our waiter shook his head and made a VERY rude remark about him having more money than us. Hopefully the manager sees this and takes action in teaching the staff how to be polite, helpful, and worthy of earning the 20% gratuity. Also going to file a food safety complaint because the 4 of us that ate dinner there are still sick with food poisoning - I even had to go to the doctors today! Never going there again. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER. I used to frequent this spot last year and the service was never the best but it was acceptable but now its a totally different story. I went with a bunch of coworkers on a Tuesday night and didn't get seated until 15 minutes later because there wasn't anyone taking care of the front. I asked for the big corner table because i came with a group of 7 people and we needed the space but i was told that table was reserved for a party so the waiter seated us at a small table that would normally seat 6 at most.(later i found only a party of 2 sitting at the big table) After we were seated it took another 15 minutes just to get some menus. It took another 15-20 minutes until our waiter came and took our orders and how long did we had to wait for our drinks? You guessed it another 15-20 minutes, my buddies were so tired of waiting for some service so some of us just went to the bar and asked for drinks ourselves after the first round of drinks. At the end of the night i decided to give our waiter 10% tip because i was so annoyed the whole time i was there . He hovered over our table to look at the receipt to see how much i tipped him and promptly told me that people usually tip him 20%. I love this place for a variety of reasons - location, food, drinks, vibe, music. Here are the highlights on all: Location: it's perfectly near the RW trains and near plenty of their bars to continue your night Food: the lamb sliders, hummus and pita, and Greek salad are my favorites (Greek salad is my top in the city!) they also have good happy hour specials on their food Drinks: I love the Riesling they serve here, but recently they've added frose to the menu, and that was a super delicious, and really balanced frose!! Vibe: the restaurant has a loungey, airy, multilevel feel where if you just want to sit and eat and spend time with your friends you can get a table upstairs, and if you want to dance and socialize, the downstairs is better. I also love that in the summer they open the windows so there's a nice breeze without having to be outside Music: I don't know who their DJ is but he is GREAT. I just don't get the bad reviews for this place, I have been here many times and I have had a lovely time each and every time. I also don't get the racist comments, I have seen all nationalities here enjoying themselves. Nowadays, any mishap that occurs, immediately it is called out as racist. Umm stop it. As for my experiences, I have only come here for drinks and hookah. Which, I have to say, is the best in the city and will run you $35 for the regular and $45 for premium. I also love the atmosphere of this place. The music and crowd are always fun and friendly. Most recently, I was here this past weekend and I asked the hostess for a table for 3, she said they had a table open but they would need it back at 10pm (it was 9 when we walked in) for a reservation. We took the table. In other reviews, people mentioned how they were kicked out of their tables before they completed their meals or drinks but I highly doubt you weren't informed prior. Nonetheless, we were able to stay at the table till about 1030 and then they found a place for us at the bar with chairs and our hookahs. I visited this restaurant on Valentine's Day and, as expected, it was extremely busy. The crowd level was understandable given the occasion, however, the seating arrangement was not ideal. One seat was a booth-style chair while the other was a small circular stool that sat noticeably lower. This made it uncomfortable and awkward, as it felt difficult to properly reach the table. The food was excellent. I ordered the lamb chops, which came with a generous portion compared to similar dishes at other restaurants. The meat was flavorful and seasoned well. For drinks, I tried the Valentine's Day special called the "Gold Fashioned," which I also found enjoyable and well-balanced. One downside was the lighting. I understand the intention was to create a romantic ambiance for the holiday, but the restaurant was excessively dark. It made reading the menu and eating difficult, as visibility was very limited. I used to go to veranda all the time so when I heard that the owners opened Pergola I was very excited! The space itself is nice! Very earthy/loungey feel! I stayed at the bar on a Friday and had the bartender Sara make me some great drinks! I mean this girl made the best drink I have ever had and I'm sad that I got too tipsy to remember to ask her what it was! So now that is my excuse to go back! lol The hookah was good as well because they use fresh fruit which makes the flavor better than most places. I am compelled to share my recent experience at Pergola NYC, and unfortunately, it was far from the celebratory evening my law firm and I had hoped for. Al, the "manager" on duty, exhibited shocking rudeness, arrogance, and a complete lack of accommodation--behaviors we experienced even after settling a substantial bill. Our encounter left us deeply disappointed. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident; there are multiple lawsuits against Pergola for alleged racist practices. I implore you to research these lawsuits before choosing to dine at Pergola, especially if you're a person of color. i went for a halloween getogether with friends and one of the security guards in the front (big and ugly) got in my face (i am a young small 21 yr old girl) and cursed and forced me to leave because i pointed out a fact which was that he was rude . then they never let me in and he continued to curse and heckle at me in front of everybody . i demand he be fired. because it was disgjsting childish behavior that should not be the face of an establishment that is supposed to be welcoming and to have a nice time. thank u for ruining halloween!! I think this place is E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. The food was actually amazing and the hookah was great, too. I had several of the appetizers and they were all very tasty. I see that a few people wrote that they had bad service. I am unsure as of what to say to that since the service my friends and I received was incredible. The place is nicely decorated and there is nice, light music playing in the background. It is turned up so loudly that you cannot hear the person sitting across from you when he/she speaks. All in all, I would go back... Actually I am going back this weekend. It is a fun, pretty secret hidden on a dark street. Walked down 28th St. last Wednesday and noticed this gem in the midst of a dark quiet block. They had the garage door open to expose a gorgeous space. Where did this come from?! What a surprise. Went inside and sat at the bar where there was a lively happy hour crowd. Great prices ( $6 wine/beer) and some interesting beer choices. Being a Mediterranean spot I chose a Turkish beer (Efes) and tried a few happy hour small plates. The hummus was on point and the Goat cheese poppers melt in your mouth. I didn't try the hookah but everyone else seemed to be enjoying it. All in all, I was thrilled to find a new neighborhood spot that I can bring a date or a client. Yay! read more

By far the most racist place I've ever been to in my life ..... was waiting for my brother to arrive to enter the place the bouncers told us there wasn't space for our party that was of color we needed to have reservations maybe about 6 of us ..... told them we wouldn't mind standing at the bar we just want to enjoy some hookahs and music wanted to order about 4-5 hookah and have some drinks Mind you their was parties with way more people of caucasian and they were letting them in no problem Without reservation.......But it's cool this place will never see our business again !!!!!!! Place is good but gets very packed and seems to have some sort of "entitlement" for certain people. They have an upstairs that they only sit returning people. The food is actually really good for a hookah lounge. I enjoyed the lamb burger. It was cooked to perfection. The wings.... oh my... oh my... came with the amazing sauce drizzled all over it and some succulent tasting wings. The hookah is very strong and not your regular tobacco. Drinks are nicely made and pretty strong, one or two will do the trick. The decor is very nice and it draws a nice crowd. We enjoyed it very much and definitely will be returning. The fiance and I had been wanting to try a hookah bar for quite some time. After doing a Yelp search we came across Pergola. The hookah was good, but a bit expensive. I ordered the falafel wrap & it was delicious. My Fiance got the lamb chops that he also liked a lot. However, what stops us from coming back is that the wait staff did not make us feel comfortable and we continuously had to wave at our waitress for attention to order more drinks. She also came across a bit stand offish and was just not friendly. Music and vibe were too loud too for my liking, but that's preference. read more

From the moment I walked in every one was lovely. I was seated right away by the hostess, which was very accommodating; I switched my table from upstairs to downstairs at a high bar top table. My server was Ahmad who was very pleasant, recommended great dishes. He checked on me pretty often. I had Cigars for my appetizer and mixed grill for my entree. The drinks are good here as well. I had two red sangria and gin for my main course. My hookah was smooth and luckily I didn't have to pay for coal refills!!! I will definitely return to this place!!! read more

Got a table for my graduation party in May and had the best time of my life. From what I could remember, the service was great and the salmon dish I ordered at first was delicious. I also ordered two sangria for the table, and we all drank those in minutes. The hookah was great and maintained by the workers frequently. The DJ and music was also great. We all danced, laughed and enjoyed the entire night. Caring staff and delicious drinks were served at all times. I recommend you try there specialty drink "the Pom Pom". read more

an amazing experience ..... mini TAO in looks in a lot better ambiance, service was very friendly .... I went last Thursday with a group of friends for dinner, the food was amaaaazing .... I had the lamp Cigars for appetizer and chicken kabob for main ... I tried the octopus salad and the salmon that my boyfriend had ... I was impressed .. Hookah is the best in the city by far .. I went to Pergola last Saturday with a group of my friends. We were looking for a fun night out with great food and fresh hookah. We heard Pergola was a unique experience so we tried it out. I am far more than pleased with this new restaurant. The food was very impressive, I tried the lamb burger and it is to die for. The service is impeccable and the staff is friendly and professional. I stand firmly by my earlier review of Pergola. If the management of Pergola has an issue with my review they should look internally at their own operation and make the necessary changes. I give credit where it is due: great food, good music, the best hookah. They hookah was amazing. Their hookah never disappoints me. Had few drinks very nice atmosphere. Friendly staff, especially the bar tenders. This place gets very crowded after 8pm. If you are into that kind of scene, make sure you make reservations. If you want to smoke with relaxed environment, then any time from 1pm to 7pm is good time. Another plus point is that this is one of the few places in city that offers hookah before 4pm. read more

I guess it's not a priority since the DJ doesn't start until 10:30 PM, which is when the younger crowd begins to come in. By around 11 PM to midnight, the lines to get in were extremely long.
