This place has a great ambiance. The waitress was very nice and helpful they have great lunch specials.l that are $12.99 My margarita was $17 which to me is a bit expensive for a small restaurant. Also the 3 filet mignon tacos are $32. That seems really expensive!!! My chimichanga was very good. The margarita was good but nothing special.

10/10, highly recommend this place! We had the enchiladas and elote pastel, and everything was absolutely delicious. The food and prices were both great! Our bartender, David, was amazing and made the experience even better. Definitely recommend checking this place out! The decoration was beautiful.

Lots of trash on the patio ground.

It was an interesting experience at Perla Mexican Cuisine from the moment we arrived. We got there at lunch time on a Sunday and stood at the host booth. There was a waitress there but she didn't acknowledge us, and eventually she walked away. 4-5 waiters kept walking by us as we stood there and we felt pretty foolish. The thought crossed my mind "if they keep ignoring us, we'll just find somewhere else to eat.." It was about 5 more minutes of standing there before the original lady came back and said "Okay, sorry for the wait, did you have a reservation?" We ended up sitting outside on the patio since it was a beautiful day. It was nice and shady, but the patio was really dirty, there was crumpled trash and litter I assume from brunch all over the ground. I snapped a photo and attached. My fiancé ordered the Hibiscus Margarita and she said it was tasty. They didn't, however give us any napkins with our drinks. We figured they would come with our food when it was brought out. Unfortunately, when the food arrived we still had to place settings, utensils or napkins. If you see our photos, it's just food with no napkins or settings at all. We had to wait for the waiter to return and ask for utensils so we could eat our food. A bit disappointing.. Once we were able to eat however I was very happy with the enchiladas. Their chicken was delicious and the sauce was really wonderful. The sauce all around the plate was excellent and they were very generous with the cheese. I did find myself wishing there was some rice and beans to go along with the enchiladas and for the price point, I think you might expect it, but what can you do? The ceviche didn't have as much lime, not very tangy at all, at least not what we're used to, and we have lots of Mexican ceviche. This ceviche was more peppery, and heavy on the seasoning, was it Masala? Not sure but it reminded us more of Indian food. Not saying it was bad, just wasn't what we were expecting. Again, the service was lacking throughout the meal and that continued until the end. Our regular server took so long to return, we had to ask a different server for our check. She went and got our regular server who brought our check. I don't know if there was a party or something going on, but it looked like most of the servers were preoccupied talking and hanging out inside the main restaurant area, whether that was with clients or each other, I have no clue. We probably won't be back, to be honest.

Food is great here, I've tried both Mole and Suizas enchiladas. Perla Palmoa was made perfectly Bartender was very welcoming and nice. It was our first spot we tried after we moved downtown and he recommend alot of places to also checkout around Santa Ana to explore and eat. Will definitely be back for more food and cocktails to try!

This is a lovely place nestled in downtown Santa Ana. The staff is wonderful and attentive. They were also great at giving recommendations. We ended up getting queso fundido, seasoned fries, flautas, and mango ceviche. Queso Fundido- The melted oaxaca cheese was light and creamy. The chorizo was savory and incorporated into the dish beautifully. Seasoned Fries- These were served piping hot and perfectly crispy. The seasoning is flavorful. Flautas- The tortilla had a wonderful crisp and the beef filling was juicy and perfectly seasoned. Served with a nice, smoky salsa. Mango Ceviche- This was a delightful citrusy dish! The mango was the right amount of ripeness and the shrimp was fresh. Served with crispy tortillas.

Honestly , one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to in OC, the service is phenomenal. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Our server Karina was amazing and made some fantastic recommendations. I got the short rib tacos and they were so tender and juicy and cheesy, paired with the Guavandia Margita. Everything with so fresh with high quality ingredients. Me and my boyfriend will definitely be back!!!

Perla Mexican Cuisine Receives positive reviews for its food, service, and atmosphere. It is a women-owned and family-operated Mexican restaurant located in a historic district. I like their steak tacos, appetizers and street corn.

I ordered their most popular dish, the A1 set, but honestly, it didn't really live up to the hype for me. The broth tasted pretty underseasoned overall. From what I understood, you're supposed to mix all the toppings into the soup with the noodles, but even after doing that, I still felt like the flavor was lacking. Yes, they provide seasoning on the side, but personally, I wish the broth already had enough flavor on its own without needing to adjust it myself. Would I come back? Probably not. Thankfully, Yelp gave us no shortage of options to choose from, but even with all of those choices, it didn't take us long to decide on checking out Chiang Rai next. I mean, with how tantalizing the photos of their food looked, how could we not? As we walked up to Chiang Rai, the first thing that struck us was how bright and colorful the restaurant is, which definitely adds to how lively the place looked. More importantly, though, the menu here is fantastic! Although it has been updated in the time since our first visit, it looked almost entirely the same, outside of a few tweaks here and there. Alongside usual staples, like Pad See Ew, Yellow Curry, and Crab Fried Rice, there are so many interesting Thai street foods, Chiang Rai local dishes, and less commonly seen things to try! No lie - even if we had tried twice as many dishes as we already have, I would still have so many more I would want to try! -- (#34) THAI SKEWER COMBO - Beef Tongue, Chicken Thigh, Octopus, Sticky Rice (Soy Sauce, Egg, Salt, Flour)...$20 (for 4) Overall, all of these were quite tasty. The Beef Tongue was tender, the Chicken Thigh was juicy, and the Octopus was cooked well. Funny enough, the Sticky Rice just might have been my favorite, though - love how it kind of tasted like salted egg! -- (#19) KHAO SOI BEEF CHEEK - Khao Soi Curry, Beef Cheek Stew, Jasmine Rice, and Cucumber Salad...$25.95 This didn't really catch my attention on the menu, but this was actually one of my favorite dishes here. The beef cheeks were impressively tender and the curry was thick, rich, and creamy. I could devour a whole plate of this! -- (#25) BAMII PU MOO DANG - BBQ Pork, Crab Meat, Egg Noodles, Bean Sprouts, Chinese Broccoli, Cashew Nut, and Side of Soup...$26.95 Honestly, this might be the best version I've had of this dish! The BBQ pork was just okay, but all of that delicious crab meat more than made up for it and the noodles had a really nice bite. Mix it all with a splash of the soup and enjoy! -- THAI TEA SLUSHY...$8.95 On such a warm night, this was so good! The consistency wasn't too thick or icy, it wasn't too sweet (save for the whipped cream), and there was a decent hit of Thai tea flavor, too. -- CHA-SOM - Organic Orange Juice with Thai Iced Tea...$7 I had never seen this on a menu before and it was pretty decent. The orange juice gave this an acidic and refreshing element while the Thai iced tea added a bit of creaminess and sweetness. -- THAI ICED GREEN TEA...$6 I've had hit or miss experiences with Thai Ice Green Tea in the past, but this one was terrific. This one definitely felt a little sweeter, but the tea had a sort of brightness to it that I liked. -- (#20) MIDNIGHT CHICKEN WITH ROTI - Fried Chicken Wings (Night Market-style) Topped with Fried Onion Served with Sweet & Sour Sauce...$22.95 This was awesome! All of the wings were pretty big, super crispy, piping hot, and so moist. They were well complemented by the fried onions and sweet and sour sauce, too, and tasted so good wrapped in the roti. -- (#22/#23) NAM PRIK MUENG - Ground Chicken in Curry Paste (Nam Prik Ong), Green Chilies Paste (Nam Prik Noom), Fried Vietnamese Pork Sausage, Boiled Egg, Fried Pork Skin, and Steamed Vegetables...$29.95 It's great that the new menu has split this into two dishes, as I'd skip the Nam Prik Noom. While it wasn't bad, the spice got to be a bit much and just can't compare to how flavorful the Nam Prik Ong was. Also, the fried sausage wasn't too shabby, but it was kind of oily. -- (#33) MUN NURE FRIED RICE - Fried Rice with Beef Fat, Green Onion, and Crispy Garlic...$25.95 My mistake for assuming this was cooked with beef fat instead of having chunks in it. That being said, this was still really good. Most of the fat were just small pieces and the rice was cooked really well. Yum! In addition to how good the vast majority of what we tried tasted, the service has been just as positive. Each time we've been here, the workers have all been so warm and kind. Plus, they're happy to try to accommodate any modifications/requests (as best they can). The one thing about Chiang Rai that I don't love is how some of their prices feel a little higher than other Thai restaurants out there. That being said, I don't think there's any question that they have so many unique dishes and that almost everything they have tastes great! As such, the difference in price definitely won't deter us from coming back to try more in the future...like the next time we're out here again! FOUR AND A HALF STARS easily rounded up.
