Last night on April 20, my boyfriend and I went here to meet up with friends. We were at the bar trying to get a drink after repeatedly being ignored by the bartenders. I asked the dark haired bartender with the Angels baseball jersey for a drink, and he told me that one of the "regulars" told him that I was "mean" and he refused to serve me and my boyfriend drinks. I asked him what he was talking about and then proceeded to call me names for absolutely no reason. I am completely disgusted by this extremely unprofessional behavior at a public establishment when I'm a paying customer. I will definitely NOT recommend this bar to ANYONE!!!! I will be dealing with this issue further with upper management. read more

Hey fam me again. Soooooo tried this spot. pretty chill. Music was whatever. tried some of their beers. Wack at best but our fault for trying their promotional beer. And then there's the jaeger bomb. Holy moly. maybe it was a mistake on my end I have no idea but don't you ever put sprite in my jaeger when I ask for a jaeger BOMB!! Wow Perqs. At least tell me that your bar has no Red Bull. talk about ripping my fun apart. Came to this bar expecting excellent service had heard from the local this place was shit but decided to try my luck I came asking for a black and tan she gave me a pale ale I know form bartending for 7 years that a Black and Tan is a blue moon and Guinness.... she continued to tell me you to look it up and that I was wrong and that I that I had no idea what I was talking about I said OK that's no problem can you just please me what I wanted she told me three times To look it up and I was wrong.... this problem is toxic to a business and just to the viewer knowledge me and mine will not return. Complete Jerks! Gave themselves their OWN tip on my credit card! The bar tenders and managers have terrible attitudes. I would use stronger words but I can't here. The in depth details: I play in a band. I've played there before and everything went okay. We got asked by another band to open for them on their night. This was approved by the bar manager and were expecting to play for an hour or so (the other band was to play the rest of the night). We went on, played two songs and the bar manager cut us off with no explanation. The other band didn't know what happened either. First of all, we were not getting paid, had to pay for my own drinks, and I left a nice note on my CC bill telling them thanks for really not liking us and left a zero on the tip line. Two days later, I check my bill and there's a 20% added tip. WTF? I know I saved my original copy, but I couldn't find it since, so I haven't disputed it with my bank. So, this bad review is what they get now. I for sure will NEVER be back there and I will tell all my friends not to go there. read more

It's the first bar on the left when you're walking from the pier. I go there at least 2-3 times a month. They have live music here and there is space for dancing. This place gets crowded on the weekends. You'll find people of all ages but most of them are In the age group 30-70. If you like listening to old school rock, blues like the doors, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi, GunsNRoses songs then you should definitely check this bar out. I grew up on the 60's and 70's music though I am a 90's kid. read more

My friends and I have been coming here for years... Single, with dates, with husbands current and ex lol... they may be on to new adventures elsewhere but we still come here a couple/three times a month on random nights and it is always hilarious in all kinds of weird and fun ways... The drinks are deep and the vibe is groovy... know its a dive bar that just serves booze, has a great selection in the music box, and the bartenders range from friendly to snappy and dont judge it, and you will always have a great time ;) enjoy! read more

Perq's is a classic dive bar with decent drinks. They have live music most nights. The staff is nice. A couple of recommendations: the toilet could use a deep clean and the lighting over the dartboards needs to be a bit brighter. read more

I have always come to Perqs when I am in HB. I was real disappointed this time. The Asian bartender that was working (8-3 from 8:00 pm on) I put this in in case management reads these. She was taking shots which I always thought was a big no-no in bar tending 101. Which really didn't bother me to much. But later a guy sitting at the bar starts digging through the container that holds the limes, lemons and olives (I mean digging around) then he picks one out and puts it back in. I grabbed the container and handed to the bar tender that was watching all this happen and informed her that that is a health code violations, she laughed like it was no big thing. Excuse me, I wanted to put my fingers in the drink she was making and twiddle them around and ask her would you drink that now. I will never have a lime in my corona again as long as I live. As a local patron of several bars in the Huntington beach area, I thought a great way to introduce my friend who just moved from out of state was to take them to Perqs to watch the NFL playoff game. We came in around 5 PM. We tried to run a tab, but the bartender said she was leaving and insisted we cash out. Since both of us worked in the bar industry for quite some time, we totally understood. We did end up ordering about 3 more rounds from the same bartender, and we were both still fine with having to repeatedly cash out our cards. The new bartender came on her shift and had quite the chip on her shoulder from the very start. Her negative attitude was very noticeable to several patrons sitting at the bar. I left the bar to step outside to have a smoke and my friend had ordered two more drinks and started a tab with her. The check said her name was Leigh, but I think the bar back called her Heather. When I asked to check out, I received more attitude from this bartender. Honestly, I was baffled. I wasn't sure why she was upset. I had talked this place up, I have been here numerous times and really enjoyed their live music. I wasn't sure what the issue was, but regardless, we were cashing out so I saw no reason to worry about it. My check and credit card were literally thrown down in front of me and the total was $13.50 (mind you, we had spent nearly $100 here). I still left a $1.50 tip because I felt bad. Maybe this bartender was having a bad day? Not sure. Before we had finished or drinks and with the signed check no where near the area of the bar that would indicate it should be grabbed yet, this bartender reached over the bar, reviewed the tip on the receipt in front of us and stormed off. I was appalled. You wait until a patron is finished or ask if they are all set. Then you can grab the receipt and enter your tip. Funny thing was, we were going to leave her more cash until this happened. While we were having a conversation about how we were being treated, this bartender came to us and said, "you know I can hear you." I explained that we felt she was being very rude. She indicated that she had been told we were being rude with quite the attitude. Apparently, management at this place prefers their bar staff get confrontational with guests versus trying to resolve situations. At that point, I could tell she was more concerned with being confrontational than pleasing the patrons in the bar. Hopefully, her manager works with her to teach her how to defuse situations such as this, rather than add fuel to the fire. The chip she had on her shoulder wasn't worth the debate. We left our unfinished drinks, and left the establishment. I apologized profusely to my friend...then thought, "why am I apologizing for her behavior?" It was just so embarrassing when you take someone out for the first time In Huntington and the first place they go to where they were having fun treats their guests like absolute garbage. We walked over to the Irish pub, where the staff was super friendly as was the atmosphere. This girls attitude had literally cleared the bar. I have never been treated like this in this establishment, but unfortunately I will no longer be returning. I have also shared this story with other friends who used to frequent Perqs and they also were shocked. I hope management realizes they have an employee that is costing them business from local patrons. It's just sad since this place has been around for so long and was one of my favorite dive bars. I'll be spending my money elsewhere. If the only Perq of this place is to be treated horribly, there is no reason to go back. Also, I plan to call management regarding this situation. I am not just someone who leaves bad yelp reviews for no reason. It is shame a fun place like this has such employees ruining its business. read more

for sunday funday we hit up main street and perused around. the last spot we came to was perqs to meet up a few girls. there was only one fucking person working the entire bar, which is probably why she had such a gotdamn attitude. we sat by the open window, and i was drinking a sprite. my gf was right in front of the window, and without thinking also took a sip of my SPRITE. out of no where we hear the bartender screaming about how were not supposed to do that and how we should know better and some other bullshit. FIRST, i had no idea that we weren't allowed to do that, especially because it was a soda. so yes, my bad. BUT, i've worked in restaraunts, bars before, and customers will fuck up. but you need to be professional about it. she got all haughty, walked out to the doorman, and of course yells at the top of her lungs that she will shut the bar down if we do it again. had she come to us, and said, "yo, that's not cool, you can't be doing that cause we can get into trouble", i would have politely apologized, and woulda felt bad. but nahhh, she was getting all crazy. i get it, you're understaffed, you're busy as hell, and probably frustrated to hell as well. but you need to take that up with your boss. it aint my fault you're having a bad day. don't even get me started on the crowd. point is, i will never ever return. Went to perqs last night for one round. They had great music good crowd. I've heard this place is Notorious for over charging when you pay with credit or debit. Unfortunately I did not have any cash and took my chances using my debit card. Sure enough I looked at my bank account this morning and was over charged luckily I kept my receipt and will take it up with my bank. If I could give you negative stars I would. To see that you continue to get bad reviews yet are still staffed by a bunch of jerks is. Easy to me. I got in a fun filled argument with the bartender who claimed he was the manager because my brother, who's in the military, grabbed what he thought was a rag on the bar to help him clean up a spill that an extremely drunk girl had made with her full beer. Turned out the "rag" was the girls shirt. When my brother found out he apologized profusely. While being yelled at by the bartender. The girl did not care at all and ended up dancing with my brother while I got to Listen to the bartender talk sh*t on my brother to other customers. When I confronted him it was a fun argument. I will NEVER EVER go back here! They should rename it Pricks because that is all that works here. read more

I was sitting at the bar, enjoying the music and a second glass of wine I had just paid for, when Tim, the bartender walked off with my drink and a security guard told me I had to leave. When I asked why, he said "I don't know". I told him I wanted to finish the drink I paid for, he said "No you have to leave" and then he pushed me! I have never in my 57 years been removed from or told to leave an establishment! I am a quiet, 5'4" 120 lb professional business woman. I was not publicly intoxicated or acting disorderly. Tim, the bartender, who for some reason had an attitude with my date, took it out on me! How cowardly is that? The new security company(Globe Security?) likes to tell you to leave, when asked why, they can't give you a reason, then they like to get rough and push women out the door! And they do illegally add fraudulent charges and a 20% tip on to your credit card. The manager told me that some credit cards add a gratuity automatically, which I have never heard of. When I called my credit card company, they told me that the establishment did that, not the credit card company! What type of scam place is this? It appears Scott H. had the 'pleasure' of meeting Tim and having a similar experience of him adding a 20% tip. If I were the owner and was receiving these type of reports from customers (my bread and butter-without customers I would have no business) about one of my employees, I would take a long hard look at Tim's customer service and his performance and replace him. I am certain there are several bartenders who provide excellent customer service available for work no! read more

Waited over 3 hours for them to call my name tor karaoke, even though I was one of the first to put my name. Obviously the DJ takes bribes, but it's very frustrating. It ruined my just honestly. I waited from 9-1215 until I decided to leave. It's unfair and I wish I could take my tip back. I watch the DJ mix up the cards. I kept waiting for my name and it was never called. Wont be back. Came here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Didn't try food don't even know if they serve any. I mainly tried the drinks and night club. Well it gets pretty packed on the weekends. Perq's is my favorite HB dive bar. I was recently back and town and saw that they was a lot of construction going on, so I was worried that Perq's might be gone. Not to worry, it's still there and I found the staff to be a s friendly as ever. Boyfriend and I rode our bikes to the beach on a Saturday afternoon. Met a friend here, who's friends with the bartendar, Yuri. Drinks are cheap, but you won't be able to order anything fancy here. Just your standard drinks (think vodka soda, gin and tonic, etc). Very low key place, not too crowded. Much older crowd (I'm thinkingn most of the bar regular patrons here are probably 50+). Much different from the crowd at say Sharkey's or Beachfront. No food here, just peanuts and pistachios. According to Yuri, "This is the only real bar on Main Street." read more

I know this may sound cheesy but I'm going to tell you that I've had some of the best nights of my bar hopping life at Perqs.... great memories close to home sometimes they have awesome bands sometimes not .... lol....just a mellow laid back no attitude kind of fun bar for the older crowd and I'm 42.... Its my favorite bar on Main Street I absolutely love the feeling of this place not the cleanest not the best music but they have great people and it's great fun.... kickback have a beer or two... its the place to go.... lov it!! read more

Definitely a lively dive bar consisting more of the HB older crowd. Cover bands are pretty good. Drinks are hit or miss.

Perq's is the only place I will go to willingly on Main st. in HB. Probably because this is the only place on Main that doesn't have a line full of d-bags and skanky snobby bitches outside of it. In lieu of music you'd hear in "da club" there's always a strange but enjoyable mix on the juke box, or... if you're lucky... LIVE MUSIC! Yes, it's mainly cover bands formed by a bunch of old timers, but damnit it's a fun time. I love going here to see all the locals in their 40's and 50's reliving the glory days to live renditions of the Stones, Van Halen, and other various rock hits from the seventies and early eighties. It's also cool to just randomly waltz in and have a few cocktails. Sports on the tv's but not a sports bar atmosphere. Always a good time. read more

Perq's is an interesting place to go and grab a drink. This bar usually has a bit more of an eclectic mixture of people from different generations than some of the other bars on Main Street. This past Friday, my friends and I were probably the youngest people in there by about 7-10 years. Regardless, the atmosphere is very relaxed and they make one hell of a Long Island Iced Tea. Perq's is definitely a good place to start the bar crawl down Main Street. read more

"Those guys" that hosts the karaoke there is horrible. He just plays the karaoke from YouTube and still can't do that right. They obviously don't have Sound Choice karaoke song rights. He had two people sing two songs before me. They were obviously people that knew him. The KJs before him, Cindy and Sergrio, were much more professional. I will never go back. read more
