I'd say this is one of the best Mexican Restaurants to dine in! (I know it's like midnight and they are totally closed right now, but I want to write a postive review). Upon our arrival, (my family and I), were greeted and seated right away by a woman in the front counter who opened the doors for us. We looked at the menu and I wanted to order like everything. Not only because I was hungry but the way the menu was laid out and the description on the bottom of each title. Ok maybe I was just hungry at the time and that I could eat everything. But honestly, the menu wasn't too overwhelming like in some restaurants it's hard to choose when there is a lot of items to choose from. And amazing service by the way! For the chips and salsa, it says "free refill upon request", well we didn't ask and our waiter just handed us new batches because he saw we devoured it in less than 5 mins. I don't remember our waiter's name but he said "ok" a lot, after telling him our orders. So thank you to him for serving us that night! My favorite items on the menu: chickarones, pb street corn (garlic), carnitas and the unlimited chips and salsa! Why is it the best? Because everything were flavorful! I'd def! come back again! We love the owners other restaurant and have been meaning to try Pescado Borracho for quite some time. We chose to go after lunch on a Sunday and when we entered, we were told to sit anywhere we like. we chose a table right in the middle of the restaurant and there were about four other tables with people at it. We sat and sat and sat. There were two servers in a bartender in the restaurant all of which kept going to the other tables and no one acknowledged us. Finally, the hostess took pity on us and brought us water. After sometime, I asked if we were going to have a server and the hostess told us she could take our order. Meanwhile, other people are streaming into the restaurant and servers are walking up to their table and helping them. That is our meal went and at no time did we ever have a server although all the other tables did. I hate to think it's because my husband's in a wheelchair, but it's hard not to think that considering we were the only table that wouldn't even get acknowledged. Needless to say, we will not be back and I would encourage others to not go to a restaurant where they are willing to treat people in this manner. I understand being busy or being shortstaffed, but the fact that we arrived prior to most of the tables in the restaurant and still were never acknowledged is unacceptable . Add that the food is a bit pricey and just average Mexican food and there's no reason to go here. Ok so after a couple of lackluster meals at the parent company next door we finally decided to try this place after a strong recommendation from friends. What ensued from there was a magical trip down the tastebud express. I being mostly a wine and bourbon drinker don't really like margaritas unless they are REALLY good and well balanced. I often find them too sweet or too sour or too much tequila. A truly great balanced margarita really is an art, an art that Pescado Boracho has mastered. I opted for the Prickly Pear and it was absolutely perfect, all the way down to the much appreciated crushed iced that made this thing taste like I was 10 years old again sipping on an ahem adult slushee. The chips and quacamole and salsa were also just about as near perfection as you can get. A great balance of flavors and depth to each of them. After many years of work travel to California I have grown to love and cherish a really well made Cali Burrito. Over the months and now over year of travel restrictions I have longed for a good one for quite some time. I have been sorely disappointed in finding one locally to appease me. When I saw it on the menu and asked our waitress about it her eyes lit up then her smile said it all. I had to try it. Would it be the one. I have to say the force is strong with this one. A fish taco spot that has the best Cali Burrito I've found in Az thus far? That's quite an accolade. My only criticism is their hot sauce that comes on it does pack a punch. I'll order with that on the side next time to monitor my intake to avoid the ring of fire later. Well done Pescado Boracho. I look forward to coming back soon and exploring more of the menu. Arrived around 4:30 on Thurs. Customers were just arriving so we were able to get a good booth and drinks started. The Mrs got the President enchiladas and I got the 3 street tacos dinner. Both included rice and choice of beans, werereasonably priced and were excellent in taste. I think the happy hour/taco Tuesday here is a fabulous combination! I ordered the Baja taco and a carnita taco. The Baja fish was lightly crisp and topped with cabbage and lime crema sauce. Yummy! Wife ordered a michelada drink was good but the shrimp honestly tasted rotten. Then our pazole's came out and were terrible. No taste had to put 8 shakes of salt to give it something. The restaurant is clean and cheery. Try the various tacos. I ordered two and took home one. This is a small item, but is the mark of a caring restaurant: for my take-home taco, I was given a small box and two containers for my remaining guac and black beans. You may wonder, what does Pescado Borracho mean? It means fried tasteless fish. That will be $40 for the answer! We came here with high hopes after dining at the seafood restaurant in the same strip mall and seeing how busy this place was. We made a note to come back and try it out. Food: I had the "last" fried fish they had for the day. Unlucky me. I guess they have two sizes and they are sold at MP. I recall it being about $37. The fish was full of bones, which is fine, if the taste was worth the effort. The fish looked great, but had ZERO flavor. The meat was dry and flavorless. I have had a similar preparation at a Chinese restaurant, for 1/2 the price and 10X the flavor. The rest of the family loaded up on tacos, which are $7-$8 for a taco. Yep, that's the price. Is it worth it? The family said "No". I guess some were pretty good and they are loaded nicely, so the avg diner could probably get away with only two and three for a larger appetite. Issue is that you dont get a platter with tacos, rice, beans, etc: you just get the taco. So it's somewhat of a pricey place. Service: Well we had a reservation. Were seated and then just waited. And waited. And waited. I was actually ready to just get up and leave, but my family is not as impatient as me. Finally asked for a server. I guess there was some communication/miscommunication between staff; but we somehow ended up with a server, with a side of attitude. Never got refills. They forgot to make 2 tacos for my daughter. So she had to wait (we shared). Then finally hers showed up. No excuses, no apologies just a drop-off. Overall: This place is well lit, seems lively and would be a good place to grab a drink and a taco with a friend or a first date. It's no way good for a family to come in and expect good service and good food. Cute little spot in Gilbert, definitely worth checking out! We didn't realize that Pescado Borracho was High Tide's sister restaurant but we have been meaning to go there too! Tacos seemed like the perfect option for when we were out though, so we went to this restaurant. Saturday evening & we snuck in (unknowingly) before happy hour ended so that was a nice little perk! First and foremost our sever was great. He was very thorough in explaining all the menu items, answering our questions, and providing prompt service. It was a tough choice but I went with the Baja Fish Taco & Crispy Avo Taco, and my husband went with the Carne Asada Taco & Pollo Asado Taco. I personally enjoyed the Pollo Asado one the most even though it wasn't mine, it had the most distinct flavor. Following closely behind were the Avo Taco & Baja Fish Taco; we agreed that the Carne Asada one is the only one we would skip on next time. Overall a good place to check out, especially during happy hour. They have margaritas on special - I got the mango one & it was really good, along with $1 off all tacos and some starter specials. How do you not visit a place with such a fun name?! My husband and I came to Pescado Borracho and were welcomed by the staff and an ongoing playlist of MJ, Justin Timberlake and Usher. The inside is very modern and clean with bright green and blue colors. The service was very quick and checked on us frequently, and the menu looked very appetizing. There were so many unique taco options, ranging from fried octopus, salmon and tuna to steak, carnitas, etc... many options and lots of variety! Although I wanted to try five different tacos my husband and I decided to share the Pescado Borracho (fried snapper). How can you not?! We also order the PB Street Corn and a side of charred jalapeños. The Pescado was very juicy and flavorful but be prepared, it is the whole fish so watch out for bones! Although it was very good, it is like eating crab or crawfish, a lot of work for little protein. Overall glad I tried it but I think the tacos would have been more of my style. The street corn was delicious, and the habanero butter added nice heat but it was very buttery and thick. I would definitely recommend, just be prepared to consume a heavy amount of butter. We also ordered two cocktails which were good but very sweet. Overall, we enjoyed our time and would like to visit again, it just seemed like what we decided to try wasn't my favorite. Attended a soft opening last night if this brand new restaurant in Gilbert. Located at Val Vista and Williamsfield next to sister restaurant High Tide Seafood. Same owners as High Tide with the same awesome fresh ingredients dishes. This restaurant is more casual serving a variety of yummy dishes. Just as beautifully decorated as High Tide with warm lime green walls, gorgeous light fixtures and wall decor. Prices are so reasonable for the quality of food.
