Pet Food Express is there when things are great, good, okay, bad, and worse. Tonight, my cat ended up needing a Z collar to keep from grooming himself since he had recently hurt his eyes by aggressively rubbing (post-surgery from being fixed, he overgroomed!). Now, we're back to having him in a collar for a whole other issue. Poor guy! I needed a collar tonight since the problem escalated and I couldn't wait any longer! I was able to call ahead, check if they offered anything in his size, and get information about each. I'm so glad I called ahead because it made my trip easier. Tonight was a bit rainy, but the parking lot is fairly sizeable and it was no trouble finding parking. I was able to head in, find the collar aisle, and compare between a few different products! I was so happy to see they had all kinds of collars in different sizes and prices too. We ended up going with the ZenCollar which is an inflatable one since he already disliked the plastic option provided at the vet. This was a great collar to protect him from his eyes and keep him from overgrooming anywhere else. I also picked up: eye wipes ( since he rubbed his eyes aggressively, so we can keep them clean and prevent any irritation), a shedding comb (to help his anxiety with needing to groom), and a grooming glove (in case the shedding comb bugs him for too long). I'm so glad I was able to get everything I absolutely needed to keep us covered until our vet appointment this Sunday to check him out. Now, he's comfortable, clean, groomed, and resting. I HIGHLY recommend the shedding comb for cats - he's a tabby shorthair, but the shedding comb got a lot of hair that we would've missed! Him not grooming in over a week has been a huge issue with his shedding but this comb helped a lot and he can tolerate it for a while before wanting to play with the comb. The hand glove was also great so he can enjoy pets while removing some fur. Overall, thank you guys for helping us rest easy knowing our darling Bear is going to have less stress and more comfort! The staff here always care and ask about my pets and share some information that's extremely helpful. Having pet lovers at a pet store makes this location awesome. read more

Evie, our Great Dane, and I went to Pet Food Express today for a bath. This was our second tub time experience and, as was the first, it was great. As soon as we walked in the door we were welcomed and once at the bathing stations, offered treats to get the big baby into the tub. Both the store manager and an employee came over to bribe Evie. Bath completed, I noticed that the store manager was cleaning the wash stations, not one of the employees. Watching him interact with the employees and feeling the overall vibe in the store, it was clear that he led by example and created and friendly work environment. I am a self-employed contractor, so appreciate when people are treated with respect and enjoy their work environment. This is a great place to take your dog/pony for a fast and convenient bath. I usually love this location, but I went on Monday 4/8/2024 and all I got was a passive aggressive attitude from the cashier. The cashier was an older woman with cat ears who was friendly until I declined to make a donation to the store. She then started to give me attitude by trying to make me feel bad for not having a dog I adopted and rather went through a breeder and then she tried to tell me that I'm basically a bad owner because she's missing teeth and she can tell she's missing teeth because her tongue hangs out. My dog has all of her teeth, and she just has a long tongue. When I explained that, she just laughed and said she hoped I got a discount for that to give another shot at me. Again, everyone else in the store is really nice, but this behavior is completely unprofessional. I'm proud of my dog, my dog is my life, but trying to insult me over and over again after not making a donation is completely ridiculous. Her attitude towards me changed after I said no, and I don't know if the store is really pressuring for donations, but this tactic is so classless and shameful. If it's not the store doing, I don't understand why she works in a pet shop where you'll see pure bred dogs if you get triggered seeing them and feel it is appropriate to make so many passive aggressive comments. This isnt how you convince people to donate to your causes. read more

Wowser! I've always liked this place, both for shopping and DIY dog baths, but after a total fiasco this evening (capping off what was already a Terrible Tuesday for me), I'm never going back! I always start my AireGirl's bath with option #2--the eucalyptus shampoo, and then soon move on to rinsing that out and using her medicated shampoo for the serious scrubbing. But there wasn't any eucalyptus shampoo coming out of the hose on tub #1. So, the attending staffer moved me to another tub. She tried it first--the shampoo was coming out. But soon after I started, same story--no eucalyptus shampoo, plus the nozzle's "shower" setting wasn't working. For tub #3, I requested the lower-walled one, which had been vacated while we were rotating through the first two failing tubs. The staff had to clean it first so my poor sopping wet AireGirl was shivering as we stood and waited. Well! The staff wouldn't even let us try tub #3--they couldn't get any eucalyptus shampoo out of it either! But they had tub #4 filled with suds of the eucalyptus shampoo, overly filled really. Not a problem though, 'cuz the shampoo soon quit running even in tub #4, which rinsed all those wasted eucalyptus suds down the drain. After reporting and demoing the same problem with tub #4, I gave up on "pre-washing" my dog with eucalyptus shampoo and just moved on to my own medicated shampoo without any further issues. But as I said to one of the managers: Wouldn't it be better to TEST the various options on each tub throughout the day instead of leaving it to customers to find problems? Four tubs for one bath?!?!? read more

I had such a great experience at this Pet Wash location and would definitely come back!! I've been to a few Pet Food Express locations to self-wash my big dogs, but this particular one really stood out. I have a big husky so it can get pretty messy when washing her, but the workers were so helpful and sweet to her. They stood next to us to make sure we had everything we needed such as extra towels, soap, and aprons. And they stopped us as soon as we tried to help clean up her shedding, as they wanted to reassure us that they would clean it themselves. They definitely went out of their way to ensure we had great service, which was a surprise to me as most self-wash places are pretty independent. It made the process super efficient and smooth, so I'd definitely come back with my other dogs!! read more

This location is a joke. The trainers and the staff don't communicate well with each other and give false information to clients and customers. I have an 11 week old puppy. I called to inquire about puppy socials. The staff member who was on the phone said they have it with Nancy from intune training at 5:15pm on Monday's. I get there exactly on time and when I walk in I ask the staff about puppy socials to confirm. The manager had said "oh no it's actually training today. Not social." But I told her I called earlier and they said it was a puppy social session. They look over on the board and it INDEED was in fact puppy social. What kind of staff isn't even knowledgeable about their own schedule? Would not recommend taking your pups here for puppy social. Nancy is the only trainer I know that requires the influenza vaccine to be given before attending. But according to my vet, the influenza vaccine is NOT a core vaccine so she wouldn't give it to my puppy until shes older. Take your $10-20 elsewhere and go to puppy socials at HSSV in Milpitas! I must have been asked by at least three people if I needed help. This PFE has plenty of stock, is conveniently located, and are very willing and understanding when it comes to returns and exchanges. There are many popular pet food chains out there , however, none of them carry the selection of healthy, natural products like Pet Food Express. I consider them the Whole Foods Market of pet food stores. PFE does do sales promotions, but I also love their Buy 3 Get One Free in store deal. By purchasing in quantity you get a free 4th product, regardless of brand or price. I highly recommend the PFE chain read more

Always a good experience at this Pet Food Express! The employees are always welcoming and ask if we need any help and are great with giving suggestions and highlighting sales. Whenever we bring the dog in, they ask if it's okay to give treats and are mindful about food allergies and sensitivities. There's a great selection of high quality food and treats, which is helpful for my dog's sensitive stomach. Sometimes they also have little sample bags of foods you can take home so you don't have to quite commit to a larger package quite yet. The buy 3 get the 4th free deal is great. If they don't have enough stock of an item available to take advantage of this, they'll still honor the price. The pet wash is great. All you need to do is buy the pet wash coins from a cashier ($18 each but buy 3 get the 4th free applies) and head over to the pet wash area. They'll offer a waterproof collar and aprons (both regular and disposable) to borrow, plus towels and treats to bribe your pet. There's a selection of different shampoos that run straight through the hose, and of course water to rinse it all off and a dryer. The employees will take care of cleaning up the tubs for the next person (so convenient!). Keep in mind that there can be a line for the dog wash, so they may enforce a time limit. I'm writing this review mainly for their dog wash station. I've been here about 5/6 times now to wash our large furry dog. For $18 per token this is an excellent deal. They provide the towels, dog treats, shower stall, and a blow dryer thingy. I think each token limits you to about 30 minutes of total time. There is a lot of value for me since my dog is a huge mess. The cost is the same if you have a 10lb French Bulldog or a 200lb St. Bernard. The staff here is super nice and pleasant. They almost always go up to the dogs, pet them, give them pets, and make the animals and owners feel welcome. After each dog wash, they rinse the stall down in preparation for the next bath session. read more

This was my first trip to Pet Food Express and I was highly impressed by the selection of quality food, treats, toys, etc. The customer service is high as the staff is there to help you when you look like you're looking and trying to decide on something. They gave great recommendations and are knowledgeable in the products that they carry. I got some information from them on the pet washing area and am excited to bring my new pup in get him cleaned up there. They have a wide assortment of fresh pet food as well, which is something that I've been very interested in getting my dog started with. The staff is wonderful and they do encourage social distancing and wearing required masks. My dog trainer gave great reviews of the store after the fact and recommended to keep going there for their high quality dog chews/bones. That was great to hear that she backed it all up! PFE is my go to pet store and has been for years. I have a pet sitting business which allows me have a discount here on food and supplies. Their staff is always helpful and friendly and checks in on how you and your pet are doint. I also feed a feral cat colony so the discount on food is very much appreciated. On my last visit I mentioned this to Brian and he gave me some cat food samples to help with my ferals. The cats loved the treats and it was a nice surprise from their usual food. I took my dog to get a bath: they had towels, soap and even treats but if your dog needs a shampoo brush like mine does you should bring it, also bring a brush for afterwards. The Campbell location is my favorite store. The employees are knowledgeable, friendly, and very patient with my unruly puppy. They always remember the names of their dog regulars and give out treats. Gabby deserves special mention because I think my puppy Milo is in love with her. The staff is really friendly and helpful and you can tell that they love animals. Whenever I bring my dogs in the staff is so friendly and always asks if they can give them a treat. They also offer advice on products if I'm unsure. I appreciate the selection of food and toys as well. They sell quality food, and not the questionable stuff I see at big pet food stores. I usually check my food at dogfoodadvisor dot com or catfooddb dot com before buying and I haven't encountered any there that fall below a 3 star rating (out of 5 stars). I also love that they have an area to select treats that is kind of like bulk bins. My dogs enjoy sniffing the different treats and picking out their faves. Lastly, as I have a picky cat I greatly appreciate their return policy. It is a gamble every time I buy food for my cat- her tastes change overnight! At least I know I won't be losing a bunch of money trying to find food she'll accept. Plus they give opened returned food to animal shelters! All in all this is my favorite pet food store and I enjoy taking my dogs there. read more
