What a cute little spot! Bauli has been around for about a year now. Situated in the flatiron district near Union Square Park, which is a great location. I spoke with the owner who gave me a brief history of the origins of their business. Bauli is the last name of the Italian owner and creator of these adorable little Minuto pastries. The inside has such cute eye appeal with bright pastels. It's kept tidy and clean. A cute little purple vespa sits at the entrance. Their theme is a purple lavender --my favorite --which is probably why this appealed to me visually. There's plenty of seating inside and at the back is a rotating wall of "fun-facts" about minuto Bauli. I highly recommend checking that out. The company also does wholesale with future collabs in certain retails/grocers. All their minuto bread is made fresh daily and it is cut down longitudinally in the middle and stuffed which creamy filling of your choosing. I tried the hazelnut and dark chocolate fillings, which were exquisite. I love pistachio but it was too sweet of an after-taste. Then you also get toppings of your choosing for each little loaf. I got the crushed pistachios and hazelnuts. Then sprinkled with some powder sugar. You can order sets of 2,4, or 6 loaves in a box to go. The pastry cream flavor is a classic and I wanted to take it with me but it is better refrigerated or eaten promptly. They also have savory snacks like margarita pizza and salame piccante, as well as ham-and-cheese croissant in case you want lunch before a sweet treat. Stopped by Minuto Bauli in Union Square and accidentally lived my best Italian life for 20 minutes. Ordered their fresh-filled pistachio cream donut--made with a 100-year-old sourdough starter. They literally fill it while you stand there like a kid watching magic happen. First bite? I saw the light. Possibly angels. Definitely pistachio. Washed it down with a cup of imported Lavazza coffee, because when in an Italian pastry shop you don't order "regular coffee"... you order something that makes you feel like you should be arguing about soccer. Then I grabbed a slice of their spicy salami pizza--mozzarella, tomato sauce, and enough kick to remind me I'm still in New York. Solid slice. No regrets. The ambiance is great it makes you feel like your in i'm willie wonker coffee shop. This spot just opened its first U.S. shop and the concept is dangerous: one pastry, infinite fillings. Beautiful Italian cafe, perfect for getting breakfast or a snack. Tried the minuto bun with berry jam, which are freshly filled. The bun is soft and pillowy. Once we entered, there was a wonderful aroma in the air and we went from lurkers to customers. The decor is very cute, with pastel colors like lavender and Tiffany blue adorning the back seating area, while a glass window reveals the heavy duty oven along with pans of their treats. Speaking with the owner, they use a 100+ years recipe passed down through the family to achieve this brioche-like bread that he called a form of panettone. I am not familiar with Bauli, but they apparently are a major Italian provider of the traditional holiday classic. Now, they are giving their product a facelift to attract a younger generation. Essentially, it is bread stuffed with delicious options of spreads, such as pistachio and dark chocolate, which we chose. Then topped with things like chopped pistachios to give it even more character. Though a bit sweet, it was still quite enjoyable. This is an interesting concept that I have not seen anywhere else before. The space was quite large and I worry if they can handle the rent just selling a single item. Good to try or for a sweet treat but I feel like the pricing is unreasonable. Service was ok but underwhelming when the staff made my order. Must try: Brioche Buns Pastries! Why: I randomly stumble upon this cute Italian pastry shop while looking for coffee - so glad I did! They opened 3ish months ago and it's their first US location. I got the 4 Minuto To Go box: Hazelnut, Dark Chocolate, Pistachio, and Tiramisu (special). Honestly, they were all delicious! The Hazelnut, Dark Chocolate, and Pistachio were spreads so thicker, creamy, and rich in flavor. The Tiramisu was more of a whipped cream so light and fluffy. That bun surprised me - It reminded me of a soft Hawaiian Sweet Rolls! I took the box to work to share with colleagues and we were in sweet heaven! Note: The store is new so everything is clean and spotless. Fun decor and even a shop in back. They even sell some spreads too, which I may just go back and get pistachio and hazelnut. Looks like there's space in back to host small group events. The workers were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They walked me through the flavors and gave great recommendations. 3.5 Learned about Minuto Bauli from social media so wanted to try. Liked that we can customize donuts. Located by Union Square which we frequent; very accessible by public transportation. The place is a beautifully decorated cafe- with pinks and purples in the decor, a lot of seating (tables towards the back and counter seating), merchandise section. By the entrance is the donut station so a group of people actually came in and commented on the sweet aroma from outside. There are 2 sizes for donuts. We got the regular brioche (smaller size) -$5.75 with 1 filling and 2 topping (they have lists of options). We opted for double filling so $6.25 each. For the 2 we ordered, we tasted pistachio spread (sticky consistency), pastry cream and chocolate cream, pistachios (could use more) and cocoa and caramel crumble toppings. Sweet as a whole so need to share with someone. Check out their menu for adding ice cream, beverages etc. Service is great. They accommodated our requests and very friendly. This place is SO CUTE. My friend and I were in the neighborhood, hankering for a sweet bite and were drawn in by the pops of purple and neon lights. I'd recognized this shop from social media and was excited to have a chance to try. The counter at the front boasts the different flavors of these Italian bread like pastries, generously filled with the different flavored creams and adorned with a variety of toppings. There is also a selection of what looks like ice cream coffees here as well as some merch, and jars of their filling to take home as spreads. Yesterday was opening day, I stopped by to check them out. First off the inviting bakery scent is so inviting, it wafts through the door reeling you in. Decor is beautiful, I forsee this being being all over Instagram . Now the pastry - it's pretty amazing. The dough is lighter than a doughnut and definitely top quality ingredients were used. I could eat that part by itself and still be satisfied. It's shaped a bit like a mini loaf cake . Any.. there are various filling /creams,jams to choose from ( hazelnut, chocolate, etc ) and then toppings- crushed nuts,flavored crunchies ,the works. You customize to your pleasure. Then sprinkle powdered sugar or whipped cream if you like. It's quite delicious and satisfying. They have these specialty coffees too. I didn't try one but it looks like cofee at the bottom with piped cream /mousse on top. I was going to lunch afterwards and the drink looked to be more in the dessert category. I will return to figure out exactly what it is. I saw jars with the pastry fillings for purchase. The baking area is visible and you can look in at the delicious nuggets being baked. The place is beautiful and the service was good. The bread pastry was dry, it was not warm and did not have any flavor or sweetness. It just tasted like ice cream on top of unsweetened bread. A few weeks ago I stopped in to see Minuto Bauli. It is on Broadway opposite Venchi. The interior is large, bright with a modern motif. I saw two sizes of the sweet buns. I chose a small with hazelnut cream drizzled with a hazelnut topping. Powdered sugar was sprinkled on top. This cost $6+change. In five small bites it was finished. It reminded me of a Maritozzo con panna and a brioche with cream. I then asked if I could buy a bun without the fillings but I couldn't. Everyone working here was smiling and pleasant. The next time I come here I plan to change up the filling and topping. Ideally I would like to sit on the Vespa which is in the front and speed off magically with my treat imagining I am in Verona where Minuto Bauli was born. read more

This is a snack brand I learned about many years ago from my colleagues (from Italy) when I worked at two different Italian luxury brands' satellite offices in Manhattan. I was expecting a lot from my visit to this particular store being the first location in a very foodie inclined city such as NYC. The place is spacious, bright and aesthetically pleasing. Great for photos. So if you don't order your drink to go, don't stand around to wait for it, the cashier will tell you to sit down and that someone will bring your order to you. The drinks were kind of disappointing and didn't bring through the Italian (strong coffee taste and smell) identity that any coffee drinker knows and expect. I'm not a coffee snob but I have drank enough strong single origin coffees with many of my coffee snob friends to know what's a bad, passable/decent or really good cup of coffee. This place would not be it. The caramel latte was too sweet, even though I'm someone who has a really bad sweet tooth. The Moccaccino was better. Maybe this is what an Italian chain store coffee quality tastes like? Now I'm curious about the drinks at their locations in Italy. Lastly, their bathroom is unisex requires a code to enter but there is no latch/lock on the inside to prevent anyone from walking in on you. Hope the shop will fix that soon. In the meantime, have someone guard the door if you have to go to the restroom. Otherwise be wary when using the restroom. read more

I stopped by after work on my way home and it's definitely a cute interior! The staff were really friendly and I tried the pistachio spread filled minuto which was a good mix of airiness from the dough and a rich density from the spread.
