Nice place healthy animals and we love to visit with every one's pet. They gave us a pamphlet on the care of our new G.pig Dolce' he is so happy he runs back and forth in his habitat and purrs? and squels! The one we had from the horrible "death store" we call it was never happy we did not even know they are sopose to have energy and Petsmart told us about the Cedar bedding tearing up thier sinuses something the other store not only never mentioned but, had thier animals in that bedding! Salesguy was hilarious! and we got a giant easter egg with a treat in it for Dolce and coupons! read more

The staff here is absolutely wonderful. I love how Petsmart has hired young individuals to work with the pets and the hotel, who absolutely love them. I walked Biggie in the door and he was greeted with lots of petting, hugs and didnt even bother looking back! I picked him up two days later and he looked great and was exhausted (exactly what i wanted!). Definitely boarding here again. Up front prices with no hidden fees. Awesome! read more

This store is poorly managed. The staff is incompetent. The manager Ken does not have a clue about Customer Service or how to manage staff. Tracy the supervisor in the grooming department may be knowledgeable about dogs but has no clue about humans or being accountable. Overall the whole store could use a crash course in customer service and and being customer friendly. I would never go back to this store. I had an incident with a rude dog groomer and reported it. I told Kevin about it and he said he would relay this info to the manager. They offered to make it right and said they would service my dog no charge the next time I came in. When I came back they acted as if they did not have a clue what I was talking about and there was nothing noted on the account. No big deal I paid for the service and filed a complaint. The manager calls me six months later about the incident I told him and he said he would call me back the next day. He did not call. So i called him he said that there was nothing noted so it did not happen. He called me a liar. I went down there in person and told him an a very articulate fashion (no profanities) that they were all incompetent and the way they handled this was horrible. I let him know they have serious training issues and there are to many stores that have the name pet in them to be bothered with this one read more

First I would just like to say I DO NOT like writing bad reviews but after today I will make an exception. Both my husband and I spend a lot of money at Petsmart, we literally live right next door and are there almost everyday. This is where we take our pup to get groomed, see the veterinarian and even participate in puppy training classes... not to mention buy all of her toys (And our puppy is one spoiled little girl!) Naturally with both of us working full-time we both agreed (AS WELL AS HER TRAINER) that it would be a great idea to enroll her in the doggie day camp... why not it's better than spending her day alone right?! WRONG. After bringing her there for the first time the "Manager" insists that our little boxer lab pup is a pit bull and therefore cannot participate... But no worries they are still willing to take my money and lock her up in a crate all day! I do not think so. It all started because the last time she was groomed they put her in under the pitbull breed because they assured us it would be cheaper to do this rather than changing it to a boxer like she really is. Now the manager says once she is placed under a breed they will NOT under any circumstance switch it.. EVEN if we had a DNA test to say otherwise. The way she went about the whole situation left me very upset she was talking to me as if I had no clue about my dog and she was in fact the expert, negative. We will never use their services and I am going to go ahead and recommend that you don't waste your time either. Clearly the staff is uneducated and not willing to listen to anything I had to say about my pet which is really sad considering their job is to care about the pets and their owners. read more

Attention...August 4th, 2014, I witnessed a very annoyed male Groomer roughly handle a very calm St. Bernard. Also, to mention another gal Groomer roughly brushing the ears of a lightly color poodle. I immediately spoke to management LOUDLY, UNACCEPTABLE, UNPROFESSIONAL minimum wage employees, who disregard someone's pet in their care. This review is for the Petsmart doggy camp. My 1.5yr old dog, Cookie, has been coming here for about 5months and she loves it. She gets excited when we pull into the parking lot and practically drags me through the store to the camp. I like that they check for fleas before allowing your dog to participate in the camp. If your dog has fleas they have a flea bath requirement and can send your dog to the Petsmart groomer. This practice protects all the dogs from picking up fleas and bringing them back home. As someone with a full time job, I also appreciate the early morning drop off (7am) and late pick up (9pm). I don't know of any other camp that offers these hours for $20/day. Cookie also receives a free visit for every ten times she goes to camp which is an added bonus. Petsmart always has the science diet treats on sale for around $5 and there's a $5 off coupon in the pawgress report so Cookie gets all of her treats practically for free. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because I feel the large dog room should be bigger but other than that, this place is awesome! read more

This Escondido PetSmart should be used as the corporate customer service model. Staff is top-notch. I've even walked back in the store after loading my car to talk to manager about how helpful employees are there. The Oceanside PetSmart should retrain all of their staff and try to emulate Escondido team. read more

What a diaster. I went into the store a month ago and one associate Allie and older woman Joyce told me about the pet boarding services offered. They were very sweet and gave lots of information on the hotel. I have never seen doggie day care at petsmart before. I normally go to the vista petsmart but ended up here instead of petco. So i came back the other day going to bring in my dog for the first time and i left without even checking in my dog. The supposed hotel manager was incredibly rude. He was rude to the guest he was checking in barely talking and seemed annoyed. He mumbled as he talked. The other woman Jeniffer who claims shes another manager of the hotel was speaking very rudely to a dog that was clearly a puppy and not listening as she was taking it somewhere in the store. She was yelling at it to stop pulling and yanked on the leash several times. The hotel was a diaster and everyone was running around not knowing what to do. I waited to be greeted and the same woman came back completely ignoring me and the other man waiting. And then gives him attitude when she finally goes up to help. She walks into the back of the hotel starts to head down an aisle and then stops spins around then turns around again and then again turns and comes up front. Do you even know what you are doing? Shes very annoyed and seemed very impatient with the man. The very first time i see the hotel and those women made such an impression i drove all the way down from fontana to take my dog to the hotel. But i come in weeks later and both supposed managers are completely rude and the hotel is a complete diaster. I will not be returing to petsmart hotel. Get rid of your hotel managers they are a complete joke. Your regular staff seems to care and know more than your managers. When i was leaving the same woman snaps at her associate right infront of the guests in the hotel. So i turned around and left the store with my dog. In one month such a change in atmosphere. I wonder if petco does doggie daycare! read more

Petsmart in Escondido is the best. The staff is always friendly and interested to hear about our pet stories! We have two St Bernard/German Shepherds that weigh in at 120-130lbs a piece. So as you can imagine not many groomers can handle such a pair. Becky in the grooming salon is always happy to see them and take care of them. All the staff in the grooming salon know us by now and are helpful and wonderful when we come in. . We also foster St Bernard's so randomly we bring newbies in and Becky always greets them with a wonderful smile and hello. We originally used another Petsmart closer to our house, but we are happier and more comfortable in the Escondido store. Visit them and you will know what I mean!! Thanks you guys! The review from Jess P? typical! everyone who has children thinks THEIR children are the best, and god forbid ANYONE chastise their perfect angels for misbehaving. Sorry honey, but if your kids are running around and pulling toys off the shelves for the dog to pick one out - that falls under the heading of misbehaving. So you don't like this place because they don't share your pink eyeglassed shade of view of perfection in your children? Let me ask - where you work, if someone came in and let their kids run amok, would you find that cute and adorable? My guess, everyone else's kids are brats except for yours. read more

I've been coming to this location for many years and the staff has always been excellent. However, this recent visit May be my last. The first floor associate was kind and helpful but the cash register has a condescending attitude. I understand some employees may be tired from a long shift but this female cash associate was completely out of the line and disrespectful. Despite her attitude, I decided to bite my tongue and complain to upper management after this review. As corporate management, there are a number of disciplinary actions that need to be taken. 1. I had my PetSmart barcode saved onto my phone app which has worked famously until this incident. The sales associate asks for a phone number instead and declares " it's better this way," ok....I didn't think much about it. Right After, I presented a coupon to her, and she gives me a rude remark "most people give me the coupon before i ring Everything up" and she's repeats this twice. 2 i insert my card thinking my transaction was ready, then she replies "you didn't tell me if it's debit or credit before you put the card in." Which is understandingly a common mistake but there wasn't a need for belittling A customer. 3. Don't socialize with other coworkers while you're helping a customer, it obviously shows you're not paying attention to them. I prefer to give people a chance, and not give bad reviews. Unfortunately, this is not of them. read more

Visited this location for the 100th time because I always buy everything for my pets here and I take my dog for grooming here. The grooming is always perfect. Great customer service most of the time but the night of 3/24/18 I came to buy my dog food because I will be going out of town and leaving my dog with my family so I needed to make a quick dog food run and the employee who did not have a name tag on but my receipt number says it is cashier number 541105. Well she decided to make me never come back to this location. I was trying to buy urinary tract health food for my dog because that's what is her prescription after surgery and I always get that particular food at the vet but I was told PetSmart carries it as well so I tried to make it quick In and out grabbed the food and took it straight to this rude cashier. She did say I need my dogs prescription for this so as a worried dog parent didn't know what to do but try to call someone to bring me the prescription. I live 5 mins away an it was only 8:30 this store closes at 9. I'm just peacefully on the phone trying to get that done and the second I get on the phone she starts being rude and giving me attitude that she closes in a couple minutes. I clearly NEED this food that's why I'm there trying to make this work so since she got some attitude I walk around the store trying to see if this can get done if not I at least look for backup food. I come back after a minute and see other customers at the register and they walk towards something else so I'm good waiting in line and again this cashier tells them she's closing up now not wanting them to look around obviously barely being about 8:35. So I'm next I'm still on the phone because it doesn't seem like I'll be getting the original food so I'm trying to pay for this other food and attitude starts again she says "hello?!" And i answer Uh yes hi? As I'm sliding my card already but she obviously had something against me because after all payed and done since I wasn't trying to waste time she rudely throws me the receipt over the counter. This cashier has been the rudest cashier I've ever experienced coming to this store like what was the point of all this attitude? I was just trying to get my pup food or did she want me to let my pup starve or what? And this cashier is an older lady who doesn't seem to care for her job because I too work in retail/sales customer service and I know that's not the way to treat a customer no matter the situation. Not once did she smile she just kept giving me a bad look so I don't care to come back to this place as long as I know she'll be there. I wish I had a better experience because the cashiers at this place are always the best and very helpful but this one in particular left me very upset. This review is for the PetsHotel only. We've taken our small dog to Day Camp 2 or 3 times here, and an overnight stay once over New Year's Eve. Every time so far the staff has been extremely pleasant, and genuinely seem to enjoy what they do and the time they spend with the dogs. Last time, the young lady even seemed really sad that ours was leaving! They even took care of our dog's nails during the most recent stay, which most actual groomers have difficulty doing (she's a bit squirmy). The rest of the store we've done minimal shopping in and it is a standard PetSmart in that regard. Nothing particularly bad, but nothing write home about. All in all, very impressed with PetsHotel staff and hope it continues on future trips. Wish more local PetSmarts had a PetsHotel in them... this is the only one in the North County area! read more

Not a good experience. I felt like the whole staff were insurance salesmen trying to pitch their pet health insurance plan. I brought my 4 yr old pug in for an eye infection and was advised he needed approx $950 worth of treatments - to start. According to them the health insurance they sold would "greatly reduce" the fees. Sorry just not buying it!!! read more

Since I travel for work my husband generally takes the dogs in for grooming. We've tried doing it at home but it never turns out as nice. He says that the staff is friendly and I can always tell when I get home at the end of the week where they've been as they smell so nice. The store is clean and we purchase lots of pet products here too. read more

I boarded 4 of my dogs, we dropped them off on a Friday and picked up Sunday afternoon. The first thing we noticed was that one of my dogs have diarrhea stains all over his white coat on his legs and butt, his testicles and tail are down to raw skin do to all the butt dragging from the irritation caused by the diarrhea. We are told that the diarrhea was caused because of separation anxiety and then on our drive home he went poop all over my back seat with uncontrollable diarrhea and as we get home my other dog had a seizure. We checked the container where we checked to see if his medication was there and it was no where to be seen, we called petsmart where they had to look for his meds (shouldnt they know where the hell his meds are located?). We counted his pills and we find out that they were never given the way they were instructed to. So Monday comes around and the diarrhea is still going strong on my pup, Tuesday was even worse and I decide to take him to the vet. The vet weighs him and he's 8lbs lighter from the day I dropped him off at petsmart and it turned out he had parasites. After all the meds and days off work to take care of my boy, you can only imagine the total financial losses. So its just over 10 days since I dropped him off at petsmart and now after hearing some sort of a cough, I find out he has kennel cough and its all withing the time frame it takes for dogs to show symptoms. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a pet hotel, pet store and the I will never....ever.....take my dogs there and I will also never shop there again. I hope fellow pet owners see this post and spread the word, maybe we can encourage petsmart to do better, to actually care for our furry kids. read more

I wrote a review on May 22, but I have to write another now because every time I look at my sweet, precious Gracie I get furious again. When a person is mean or spiteful, sometimes it takes me a while to catch on because I assume everyone has good intentions. Not the case here. Gracie is an adorable Yorkie, but she now looks like a dear-headed chihuahua, not a Yorkie. They shaved her body unevenly, They also cut her face short, which should have had a nice precision cut and did they did not touch the hair on her ears. Her ears were bigger than her face. They told me that Gracie did not like her face groomed, when she has always gotten reports of being a sweet dog who was easy to groom. I am absolutely certain that the 2 girls who were there when I picked her up had mistreated her in some way. She was in for a free grooming because during her previous visit they had nipped her leg so badly, they had to stop the grooming and take her to Banfield. It was superficial, but it was scary when they told me she was taken to the vet clinic. I will never, ever go there again, and will warn anyone who says they are taking their dog there for grooming. read more

The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because I like the employees in the store itself, however, I would've given the Grooming Center one star. Our 7 month old pup had been experiencing some leaky anal glands so we wanted to have them expressed (along with a nail trimming) so we were told that both of those would be included in the "Bath and Brush" which was $25. We specifically asked about the anal gland expression on the phone and when we took her in. They called two times when we were on our way to pick her up asking when we would be there and when we arrived they rudely informed us that they wouldn't be able to take her again until she went through obedience training. She is a young hunting dog with A LOT of energy and she gets very excited, absolutely, but she is also well trained and a perfectly great listener when you're treating her right (but she does demand respect a little bit). We told them we would find another groomer and took her home, and that was when we noticed the foul smell from her anal glands was WORSE than it had ever been before. We called and asked if they expressed them and they told us that she had expressed them on her own while she was in the bath. We had to bathe her again and she smelled fine, but we were noticing increasing problems with her glands and two days later ended up having to take her in to see the vet. They did an expression (also $25) and they were both FULL and seemingly infected, so she is now on antibiotics. We are not at all impressed with the groomers at this location and will certainly not be taking any of our pets back there. We basically paid $25 (the price of an expression done at the vet's--the main service we wanted done) for a nail trimming, since they did not do the expression and we had to take her home and bathe her again ourselves; but the biggest issue was the way they handled the situation (and probably her when she was "misbehaving"). By the way, they had no problem with her at the vet's office. I don't recommend this grooming center for anyone with a dog bigger than a shih tzu or with any great amount of energy. I will go back to the store, but that's it! read more
