Pickup and drop-off for appointments takes forever, it's ridiculous. I would not recommend this location to anyone, multiple times I've waited 30+ mins to pickup or drop-off... when you do an appointment where you're there it takes 45 mins for the whole process. I scheduled my dog for training at the new Deer Park location. I signed up 7/26 for the class that started 8/8. When I got there on 8/8 an extremely SALTY trainer attempted to bark at me (pun intended) that there wasn't a class that started on that day. I showed him my email confirmation. He argued again saying that it was postponed because there wasn't enough interest. He then marched into the manager's office to chat with him. He returned with my paperwork saying that it was put in their grooming section instead of the training section. No apology. No explanation. Just stood there looking at me as if I was bothering him. I asked the manager for a refund. It was a difficult and painful process, too. He said I must've got caught up in the internet glitch from several weeks ago. But, they had my paperwork. I do not recommend a place that does not provide proper care to their animal or fish. Especially to their betta fish that lives in small cup, filthy water etc. You could never find someone to help if you have questions. I will never support big chains stores such as PetSmart anymore. The new location store sucks. They downsized so it's smaller and there is less stock. Couldn't find everything I wanted last few times. Tried ordering online today @2:00pm. Saddened me when we arrived seven minutes late for our grooming appointment. Instead of saying we missed our appointment/asking if we could reschedule they instead threatened us but said we could keep it. Told us 'next time we won't take you when you're more than 15 minutes late'. (We we're seven late). Also asked if we called lol no we didn't and you know we didn't. Hands down to the best Petsmart I have ever been to. This location in Kildeer, is so big and staff is so nice. It's hard to get customer service of this quality now a days. I give huge props to whoever is training this young people. Every single one of you that works here it is a pleasure to run into you on a daily basis. I come here primary when i am in the area to buy my demons food. This is like the only location where they sell Solid Cat food at a reasonable price. If you are a treats member you get discounts here and there, which always helps. My gecko also loves the crickets, well that's all he eats. Petsmart have them for reasonable prices. 11 cents per cricket, or 10 cents if you buy more than 25 all at once. Either deal is good. Ill definitely come back when possible and when I am in the area. I'm writing this review based on my experience with their groomers. I took my 11 month old puppy to get her nails trimmed - on and off for a few months, each time, every time I walk back their - it always seems like I am disturbing the employees. Anyway, the first time I took my puppy there - the lady (I literally can't remember her name) said that it was best for me not to me back there because it's distracting. I totally understood that and took her word for it. Well the last time I took my puppy there- when I picked her up she looked a little disheveled - okay, maybe she just was over it. But when I got her home, and we were playing - I noticed that she started freaking out anytime I got near her paws (we play this "got your paw game" which she has always loved up until now). I mean the hairs on her back stood up - her tail went in between her butt - and she kept making wincing noises. I noticed this behavior and became deeply concerned. It is my firm belief that she had a negative experience with the groomers at this location. I've taken her to Pet Supplies Plus - and they encourage you to stay with your pup - and she is perfectly fine now when you go near her paws. read more

Took my dog to this petsmart for this first time and last... Just getting a checkup and a nail trim to have him come out crying and jumping to get back to me because he was afraid. I can't begin to say enough good things about the staff and team at this location! I have been in this store several times this month because my cats have been having dietary issues. The staff has been so kind, friendly, and helpful! Each and every time I have come, they have always asked if I have needed help which many of the times I have, and assisted me in any way possible. My new favorite place to take my dog for grooming. The last time I took my dog to get groomed was at a different place. It was nice but the good smell only lasted a few days & it was expensive. My friend told me to check out Petsmart. I had no idea they offered grooming services but I decided to call them & make an appointment. They did offer me a time for an appointment the same day which was convenient. I got the groom package which included a wash & nails & for a little bit extra I upgraded to the package that included high end products & teeth brushing. I dropped my dog off & let them know I would wait. They told me it would be a couple hours but I think because I waited there they did it a little faster because it only took about an hour. My dog came out looking & smelling great. My dog smelled great for a couple weeks which was awesome. Overall the staff was friendly, the prices were good & it lasted for a few weeks. I started a brand new 20 gallon freshwater fish tank. I went to petco and they gave me the worst advice and then 3 of my fishies died :( Eric who was working at petsmart in the fish area saved my whole tank and now I have LED lights and an awesome fish tank. He helped me purchase all the right products and fixed my whole tank while testing my water on the way to figuring out why my poor fishies weren't making it. First I would like to say there is nothing wrong with the staff members, they are all very nice and helpful. The things I dislike about this store are out of their control. I think the prices are a bit high and the atmosphere is kinda gloomy. Also today I brought my dog in for the free holiday photo thing they advertise on their website. The website makes it look like it's a professional photo with a backdrop and a fun border. Wrong. The photo is just a staff member taking out an iPad and taking a pic of you and your dog/ cat in the middle of the store. I was really disappointed. I just skipped it because I could've gotten a better photo of my dog by myself. However, this store has a really large selection of many dog things, especially colors and leashes and stuff. I can't say much about the other parts of the store bc I only have a dog. And the staff is nice. read more

These guys are on top of their game. I bring my Beagle buddy here for his monthly bath, ear cleaning and toothbrushing (plus nail filing) and we're all the happier for it. They make it super easy and are incredibly helpful at every turn. Also, this is one of the few PS locations that carry really great sweaters and coats without being overly foofy, but they still do carry foofy and team stuff if you're a fan. We usually go to Petsmart in Vernon Hills but we needed an appointment that Saturday --- so the Petsmart in Lake Zurich had an available appointment. The person I spoke was pleasant and when we got to the grooming section, Kara Adams took care of us. I can tell that she would take good care of our dogs just by the way she was speaking with them. I like the fact that they got information from the other VH store on hair cut length & style. Kara did a great job on our dogs. This location is actually Kildeer but same zip code so stuff happens. I love this place. If there are more than three people in line they open another. Everyone that works there has a real love for animals and it shows. Anyone that knows me knows how picky I am with my Greyhound, and this is the only place that I let trim her nails. I would do it but they are black and I am afraid I will take too much off and make her bleed. They have never so much as made her yelp (get it YELP) I know that was lame, but seriously,groomers are great, management is responsive and there is always some one to help carry out the 35 lb. bag of food! read more

Brianne helped me with my kitty food needs. I had trouble with finding a special food for my cat and my vet's office that prescribed the food was out! I was coming close to giving up until I called the store manager Brianne. She had what I needed and totally understood That i was a little stressed. She saved my day! When I got there she had the food set to the side for me and even came out to greet me and check me out. Have always had a good experience here. Employees are very nice. The grooming area is pretty easy to get an appointment. Kara did a fantastic cut. Full groom was $50 for a toy non shedding dog. Just got a nail trim today for $9. They have some good house brands and better selection than petco. read more

The groomer shaved off part of my dog's ear at her appointment yesterday and it was concerning enough that they had to transport her to the animal hospital. We ended up waiting in the parking lot at the animal hospital for almost 6 hours. And now, almost 24 hours later, no manager or store employee has even called us to apologize or check-in. It's as if they hope this problem will just get swept under the table. We've had other poor experiences there at the grooming salon and I am sad we brought her there yesterday. Needless to say, we won't be visiting the store again. I write this review in hopes that no other animal is harmed. read more

I'm a bit surprised by this store. My family rescues dogs, we have 3 right now. Our newest arrived Saturday. Anticipating her arrival I picked up a few dog balls/chew toys and a training collar. The toys:within 3 minutes of opening, they fell apart. My wife brought them back today only to be told that the dog chew toys they sell aren't chew proof and after argument that they would make an exception "just this one time" and take them back. Are you kidding? Your dog toys are not meant for dogs? Give me a break. You are selling products that are not fit for the purpose they are sold. As if that wasn't enough, the training prong collar, well it was defective. When the dog would pull, the collar would release. It nearly resulted in the dog getting to a busy street. Again, no concern. Be careful shopping here for your pets safety. read more

Unfortunately, last time I went, I was about 10 minutes late to a Vet appointment and waiting over an hour for someone to take my dog to the back and look at her stitches for 3 minutes and come out to tell me everything looks great.. so that was annoying. They don't try to keep their customers happy, I try to get in touch with headquarters regarding getting a receipt printed after the store can't archive information on purchases after 60 days of purchase. I can't understand why in the world a company that size can't handle storing more information after 60 days. Makes me a really unhappy customer after I been going there for years. We were at the store today. It wasn't extremely busy we were looking to adopt a cat. 2 employees by the fish just stood talking to each other. The manager as we were told by the Banfield people that were very helpful. He walked around the store showing a lady all the leases and dog toys for the almost 30 minutes in the store and when we tried to get his attention he just walked away from us. I pulled up 10 minutes before closing and a guy was STANDING a the entrance, looking like he doesn't walk people to walk in but technically that is against the business model. Great selection for pets. It's my go to place for grooming, health care through Banfield and and supplies. When we had fish, we shopped there for food and aquarium supplies as well. The selection of dog foods and treats is superb. I shop there for supplements, special cleaning supplies like shampoos and even dog clothing. I love this store and their employees, but the recent scare of China produced dog treats left me concerned about my buddy who loves chicken jerky. I talked to an employee (way before the recent China dog treat scare) and she advised that the jerky treats sold here are from Thailand and equally suspect. I appreciated the honesty as I adore my pets and don't want to accidentally feed them something fatal for sure or even bad for them. I am applauding the employee but ashamed at the pet store who hides the origin of their product. read more
