I have had lots if experience with this store... We Always ended up returning things because we changed our minds about stuff like my chinchilla needed a bigger ball, not because of bad use. I have been coming to this location since it opened. I am always helped by knowledgeable employees and their selection is wonderful. I purchased 7 fresh water fish, 2 leopard geckoes as well as countless crickets and aquariums/habitats. They always have exactly what I need and it keeps my jungle happy. I am not sure if Josh still works their but he is the man to talk to if you have reptile questions. Not to mention my two labs now need a laundry basket for all of their toys! To start the Banfield inside this Petsmart is a complete joke. The doctor that runs things is a money hungry jerk. When I first moved to the area I scheduled an appointment for vaccinations for my dog. It was noted in our file from our previous Banfield (Geneva, IL they are awesome! ) that my dog must take a benadryl 30 min before his shots because he has had some mild allergic reactions previously. So they let me know that I will need to bring him in and they will administer the benadryl and I will have to wait 30 min in the office for it to kick in before they would do the shots. I explained that for years I have been giving him a benadryl prior to our appointment. I was told no the doctor would not allow that. So I ask how much they charge for 1 benadryl... $30 ! for ONE PILL. For $30 I could buy a lifetime supply of Benadryl for my small shih tzu! The bad part is I once forgot to give my dog a benedryl and the Geneva location didnt even charge me for the pill! I explained all of this to the receptionist she says the doctor will only give shots if he gives the benadryl so if I didnt like it I would need to call a different location.. WOW thats great customer service! So.. I ended up driving out to the Mount Prospect Petsmart and the doctor and staff were wonderful. They saw the note made by the Kildeer location and laughed and said they hear this all the time and dont understand how the doctor there could force people to pay $30 for a benadryl then make the dog and owner wait 30 min in office for it to kick in. Needless to say I stay far away from the Banfield inside this location and I advise you to take your dog and money elsewhere! On to grooming! So the two stars are for the grooming department. I have been bringing my dog for grooming here for a few years now. I typically bring him on Saturdays and he has seen the same groomer and she does a great groom and gets us in and out pretty quick. We always make an appointment, sometimes a week in advance. At most it has taken 2 hours, but she almost always has him done within an hour. We have had a good experience up until yesterday... I called and made an appointment for 3:30 on Sunday, with a different groomer our usual groomer was not available. So I had him there about 10 min early and when we arrived there was one dog being clipped. The groomer told me it would be 3 hours and that they are very very busy with "walk- ins" First off I have an appointment? why would they take walk-ins ahead of my appointment ? doesn't make sense that I would have to wait for them to handle walk- ins first had I known that I wouldn't have made an appointment! Our dog was in need of a major groom so we say fine. Fast forward almost 3 hours later we still haven't heard anything. So I called the grooming department and I explained my dog was being groomed and wondered how much longer it would be.. the woman who answered the phone didnt say anything I actually thought the phone disconnected and I said Hello? and she said oh yeah sorry the groomer said it would be another 25 min and I was given the same excuse of them being really busy with "walk-ins" I dont get it? Any other business that accepts walk-ins always handles the people with scheduled appointments and walk-ins wait. Why am I waiting?! We end up driving over we get there and there are no groomers and no dogs being groomed when we walk in. Unless they had 20 dogs getting a bath in the back they did not look busy at all. Someone finally came to the door and asked me who I was there for I let her know and she said well your groomer had to "step away" and will be back soon? WTF? Where is she and where is my dog? I was told he was still being worked on and it would be a bit longer. In this time I saw a woman drop her dog off for a bath and my husband and I sat and watched this groomer drag this poor dog across the floor and when she saw we were watching her she picked him up. Dragging a dog across the floor is not okay! and clearly she knew that because she picked him up as soon as she saw we were watching her! a few min later our groomer showed up must have been on break she was probably tired from doing all the walk-ins! 2 seconds later she walks out with my dog.. like why were we waiting? he was clearly done. Then she hands me the form to check out with and my usual groom is $45 now its $52? After leaving we noticed she shaved my dogs rear end almost down to the skin and was inflamed red on one side. We are now done with Petsmart grooming. Waiting over 3 hours for a small dog to be groomed that had an appointment is not cool.. dragging a dog across the floor by its collar is wrong! and they definitely lost our business! read more

Facilities seem okay. Prices are okay (not the highest or lowest). However on this my, first visit, I found the employees unfriendly. I have a 50lb goldendoodle and he came in the store with me. None of the employees who passed by us said a word. Only tight lipped half-smiles (the ones where just the corners of the mouth are slightly upturned). Went to the check out with some balls for our Chuckit ball thrower. My dog was at my side in line. He is a barker and was excited seeing the balls, being in a new environment, having people in front and behind of him and someone squeaking toys several feet from him. I was next in line and as the cashier was finishing with the current customer she said with a stern face, "He needs to use his inside voice." Loud enough for everyone to hear. I simply replied, "Don't worry. We won't be back." And we won't. There are plenty of other pet supply stores who make us feel welcome. read more

This is Petco thats in lake zurich not petsmart!!!! petsmart is in kildeer!!! Whoever wrote the previous comment about petsmart groomers not being trained is talking about petco!!! Petsmart has a very intense training program that includes training in all bread cuts. Petco will hire anyone. petsmart also has the highest safety standards compared to any other grooming company out there. Petsmart grooming is a complete rip off. I would NEVER suggest someone to go to petsmart for any grooming services. The groomers are not trained at all to do their job and neither are the bathers. The groomers are based off of favorites, not off of their ability to groom. The petsmart groomers are not trained how to do specific breed cuts, nor are they trained what each breed is or any details of what the breed does. "Groomers" are trained in a "cocker" cut that they use on any breed that has a "skirt" type cut, and shave downs. They also claim they can groom a dog to have a puppy cut or a puppy face. Let's not forget their prices. You want your dog to have a "special" shampoo? That is an extra charge. Your dog has a dry coat? Extra charge for conditioner. Have a Lab or other breed that does not require to have their hair cut? You will be charged for a "premium" groom if you want for the dog to get a furminator "treatment" that includes a conditioner and 10 minutes of extra brushing. A "full service groom" only includes a dog that has the hair on their feet and face cut, anything else and you will be charged for a "premium" groom. It might seem like a simple small charge, but it is the complete opposite. My standard poodle went in to get her usual groom (every 4-6 weeks), and they charged me for a premium groom, deep coat conditioner, and 15 minutes of brushing. My dog came home without her paw pads shaved, ear hair pulled, there were chunks of hair on her neck and body that weren't even cut, and her hair wasn't even cut evenly. Total cost for this "groom"? $110. I have seen the salon employees treat pets poorly by swearing at them and being very rough with them, not to mention hit them. read more
