Honestly this is either a hit or miss for me. Sometimes I come in and the staff is incredibly welcoming and honestly trying to help me save money. Other times I come in it seems like the staff does not want to be there at all, I understand everyone has bad days but it's strange when all the employees are cranky. My dog doesn't really mind either way because she always gets a treat when we're there, it's more of my experience. Grooming Review: My grooming review is for a specific groomer. I took my dog in to see Bre K this morning. She is horrible. My dog is skiddish at the groomer so in the past I have booked appts early in the morning when its quieter and we have had success. I suppose when I booked online I did not book the express which means they work your dog straight through, in the service I booked they work your dog in and out and the dogs get kenneled between treatments which makes my dog really nervous. I received phone call about 30 minutes after we dropped the dog off to tell me they were unable to groom her because of her nervousness. Bre started the conversation very condensing and pointed out in the first minute I could talk to manager. Bre wanted to pick a fight, she was quick to cut me off at every sentence. This is not the first time I had to pick my dog up from the groomer for being nervous but it is the first time that the conversation with the groomer was very adversarial. When I went to pick up my dog, she was tied to the table by the door.... Bre was sending me a message to take my dog and leave. The only other groomer in the salon had her hands full with another dog and called to Bre to come out and help me and another customer but Bre acted like she didn't hear and ignored the calls. I recommended that ratings should be groomer specific. We have had some great grooming experiences at Petsmart. Stay away from Bre, she probably will have lots of convenient time slots open for you but that is because she is not good with dogs or people. read more

I take my large dog to pet smart to get her nails trimmed once a month. It is only $9! Which is an awesome deal. It only takes them 5 minutes, I don't have to make an appointment, and I'm always pleased with the customer service! read more

Petsmart on Mae Anne is a good pet store. I have/am a cat! They have a nice selection of cat toys, cat beds, and supplies. The staff are helpful and nice. The cat adoption center is a bonus if you are looking for kitty companions. read more

I was really disappointed with the result of my $80 grooming service. I have a small dog with long hair that I specifically told the groomers to keep long along with the fluff around her ears and tail. When I came to pick her up I had a short-haired dog. The groomer also told me that my dog didn't like the clippers near her stomach and yet she persisted and "nicked" one of her nipples. Then when I went to the check out the girl at the register asked me if it was alright to give her a treat, I told her "yes" and she said that she would only give it to her if she would "sit" - we tried to get her to sit but she is a shelter dog and hasn't quite grasped that yet - she took the treat away. I was pleasantly surprised in my visit to this store on Mae Anne today. Brian and other staff were helpful, knowledgeable, and you could tell they all had a love for animals ! Their professionalism and excellent customer service really stood out. I was approached within less than 5 minutes upon entering the store and ultimately saved almost $40 because of the staffs knowledge on Pets Mart's savings for new puppies. Awesome ! read more

I brought my two dogs here to get their nails trimmed. From the moment we walked into the grooming area, one of the girls had attitude flowing from her. The girl who was checking us in wasn't all there. We had to repeat a lot of our information a million times. The first girl I mentioned took my shepherd behind the counter to get him started. Even while she was putting the leash on him, he was growling at her. We've brought that dog here before for the same service and a really nice guy did it and it took about 10 minutes. When this girl went for my dog's paw, he snapped at her. She walked away to get a cone to put around his neck while muttering, "it's gonna be one of those days". Yeah, great attitude while working around animals. My mom and I left the room thinking it would be easier for my dog to not see us. I was watching through the window and he hated that girl. We were beckoned back into the grooming area after about 15 minutes. The girl said "We can't do anything with him, we can't even get the cone off of him so you can take him.", and she just walked away. She needs to realize that animals can sense people's hostility so if she's gonna walk around with a stick up her butt she shouldn't be around animals. I called one of the store managers right after I got home and told her everything. She didn't seem to care at all. She half heartedly offered me some gift certificate or something but I declined it and told her I would go somewhere else and all the said was "sorry about that". I usually go there to get things for my other pets but I'm going to have to drive across town to get my supplies because this store obviously doesn't care about the customers and our animals. read more

I came to Petsmart looking to buy crickets for my bearded dragon. We waited 30 minutes for staff to help us, even after we asked the one lady at the counter. The lady that did help us had a dark blonde hair, and a bob haircut. She was very uneducated on the care of bearded dragons. She gave us lots of false information to pressure us into buying more products. I highly recommend going to Sierra Aquatics, they know a lot about reptiles and will help you to save money, not spend it on useless items. The crickets there are also much cheaper and seem to live longer. read more

Groomers are wonderful! Took the pup in last night (probably our 5th time there) and he comes out glistening! They are super patient with him, as he can be a BIG baby! We got to the register and since his ears and toes had recently been done they gave us a little discount! Everyone is super sweet an they take extensive notes each visit about what he's afraid of and to do and not to do to make sure each visit goes smoothly. He's always super happy when he comes out with a huge smile on his face!! read more

Every time I go to this store, it is always a great experience. I have a 10 yo cat and just adopted a 5yo cat from this location (SPCA brings in cats to their adoption center). I buy their food and toys here (the natural Kong catnip is awesome for them!). The service is great, even if all the employees are busy at the check-out counters, or with the fish, or whatnot. They are very amicable and are will to help/offer advice in any situation. The Banfield Pet Care in the store is also great! read more

I wish I knew the cashier's name. I want to say it might have been Kelsie? But I could be mistaken. She was a blonde girl and very sweet and helpful. She was super friendly, greeting me when I went into the store and chit-chatting with my child who thought she was just the coolest girl ever :). She was friendly with everyone that went through her register, and I just wanted to say thanks for having a great customer service attitude - not everybody does, and it's so nice when you find someone who actually likes helping people for a living! read more

I have been going to PetSmart for 3 years to have my Golden doodle groomed, I have the same girl groom him every time, her name is Jennette and she is the best. Today she was teaching a grooming class at the store on S. Virginia and even though I usually take him to the place on Mae Anne, I took him over to where she was across town because she does such a good job and my Tito loves her. Upon a recent visit to this Petsmart I was surprised because as soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and asked if I needed help finding anything. At that moment it was the restroom - found it! Next as I was wandering around looking for what I'd came for again I was asked if I needed help, and was helped. I'm not one to complain or leave bad reviews, but I cannot let this one slide.. I recently took my dog in to get groomed as she had been neglected for some time due to Covid. I had asked if they could trim the matter fur from behind her ears and on her hind legs, and was told by the Trevor he wasn't certified to do so. Well as I was checking in my anxious dog had an accident on the floor.. he handed me a bag and stood there and stared not offering any help to pick up for me (mind you I'm 38 weeks pregnant and can't bend down like I used to). Well long story short when I picked her up she looked so good and was so soft and clean. After a couple of days I noticed she's been itching a lot behind one of her ears, so I finally took a glance at it, and it was shaved down to her skin with a tiny cut ! Might I also mention the fur on her neck had been trimmed as well after he told me he couldn't perform a haircut ! I'm beyond annoyed with Trevors performance and what I got told versus what he did to my dog. I won't be going back with either of my pets. read more

Shane H. is the BOMB! He groomed both of my pups today, Buddy and Bella, and was THE best groomer we've ever had. This is at the Mae Anne PetSmart in Reno, NV. It is so apparent that Shane loves his job and loves animals. He loved them up with sweet talk, pets, and kisses. He did a great job on the grooming and took the time to go over everything he did for them (Top Dog Package) in writing and verbally. PetSmart is lucky to have him. We will definitely be going back to Shane. I was a *little* apprehensive about leaving such a glowing review for fear it will be harder to get in to see him since you should all request him, but when there is someone as good as Shane, we all gotta share. I brought my dog in to be groomed at this salon a number of times and I've had far more negative experiences than positive and I've finally hit my limit. This is my first yelp review, so I had to feel genuinely upset in order to write it. My dog was cut by a groomer at this grooming salon in more than one place on her ears and I was not made aware by the groomers. I had to bring her to the vet because she continued to scratch at her ears and make them bleed where she'd been cut. I understand accidents happen but the grooming salon was less than apologetic in this regard and never told me about the cuts on her ears that they had caused. I'm sure grooming dogs is difficult, but when it's your profession and they're someone else's animal, it's important you make them aware instead of hiding it. I spoke to Carrie (I believe was her name), a store manager, and she worked with me to get to the bottom of what occurred and was understanding, respectful, and helpful, unlike the manager of the grooming salon at the time. With her attentiveness on the matter, I felt strongly that I could entrust other groomers at this salon with my dog's care and for sometime this went well... But recently my dog needed a cut and I booked an appointment that was cancelled by them, as I received a call that they overbooked. I rescheduled this appointment and received a call that the groomer called out, and I forgot to call to cancel but had my dog groomed elsewhere in the meantime due to the extended wait there had been since I had two appointments cancelled by PetSmart. I was surprised to receive a call from someone who had groomed my dog on more than one occasion and had always come across friendly, as this phone call was curt and brash because I'd forgotten to call and cancel. I take full ownership of this, but having years of customer service experience, I know that it's a manager's job to see to it that his or her employees handle customers with care and respect, neither of which I received, even when speaking to the manager of the salon. The manager was sweet in her tone but the grooming salon manager Casey, I believe is her name, was quick to defend her staff member, but not quick to apologize. She maintained a "sorry for that, but..." attitude throughout our phone call, even once I made her aware that that's how I felt she'd portrayed herself and the situation. To conclude: my dog was harmed in their care, I was not provided supportive customer service by the grooming salon, and feel like if you read the majority of their grooming reviews, I'm not alone in feeling that there are better salons out there. As someone who loves her fur baby and knows you love your's I felt I needed to share my unfortunate experiences with anyone considering getting their pet groomed here. I hate to give this store such a horrible review because the store itself and the employees outside of the salon, as well as many in the salon, have been helpful, respectful, and attentive as far as customer service goes. I am really just left with a horrible taste in my mouth after the disconcerting experiences I've encountered at this salon. read more

About a year ago we bought a Cat Genie 120 (which is quite a cool bit of hardware BTW) and Petsmart does not carry anything related to that unit. That is the only thing bad about Petsmart as far as I know. Other than that, I love this place. It does sadden me to see the actual sale of pets when there are so many animals waiting for adoption but I see why they have to do it from a business POV. read more

DO NOT USE THE GROOMING SALON! AWFUL EXPERIENCE. Been getting my dogs nail done at salons for 8 years. He's a pain, I know he is but I am always upfront and honest with the gals about it and always tip really well. After what I witnessed today, I will never be returning to this Petsmart location. I gave my long usual rundown that he should be done on the floor because he will try and jump off the table. He's almost 10 years old now and has bad arthritis and I asked the gal to please be very careful not to hurt him and that he does pull away and hates it but won't bite or do anything bad, just pull away. I left to go grab some treats and pay and came back and he was hanging from the table by his neck! He's an 80lb dog mind you, and not one of the other staff members came over to help the obvious stressed out new high school girl. He was hanging there for a few seconds before she could get him back up on the table. I told a few other friends about my experience and they had bad experiences at this facility too! Stay away from the groomer...something isn't right in there. I've been getting my dog groomed at Petsmart for her entire life, about 5 years, and tried this location since I'm new to the area. For whatever reason my dog hated them and would not allow them to finish the service because she was biting at them. She's always been great at the groomer along with the vet and never had an issue in the 15+ times she's been groomed. Something happened there to make her behave this way. read more

I take my dogs to Petsmart for mainly just their grooming. I have to say they always do a good job an their prices are relatively fair. My dogs always come back clean and their haircuts are always even. Some places have really screwed this up but Petsmart always does a good job with even hair cuts. So if you are looking for a place here in town to get your dogs hair cut, I would def. recommend them. read more

The groomers here are very inexperienced. I have had a couple of decent experiences here, but for the most part they should go out of the grooming business. I chose them because they are close to my home and I can walk my dogs there. Today I took my female basset hound in to get her toenails ground. (She has been here before and had them ground). After almost 30 minutes they motioned me to come in and said they could not because she seemed uncomfortable. This is not the first time they have failed me. I took my male basset hound there for grooming, which he has had done before. They called me because he was drooling (basset hound drool is white). First off the store it self is great. Good selection of pet supplies and I always get my beautiful Guppies from here. Never been to the groomers so I can not review that. But the vet here gets 0 star's!! My cat had sinus arithmia which I did not know about untill after four visits to this place and costly unneeded test's (long worm's, heart disease and other unnecessary test's) they still could not figure out why she was gasping for air. My little girl was suffering. Finally I took her to an actual vet which is now her Vet. They seen her for one visit and knew what the problem was. Her throat was swollen from allergies. Gave her a shot of steroids, sent her home and she was breathing fine in a few hours. I strongly suggest you do not take your animal here to Banfield which is inside Peter Smart, they are untrained vet's. Barring Vet. is the place that saved my cat. Go there. read more

I took Watson to PetSmart on Mae Anne Avenue on 10-13-15. The employees were friendly to me and welcoming to Watson. They explained the rates and it was the same as in Northern California to have him bathed, buzz off his winter coat and leave him eyebrows to tame the sunshine, oh, and his nails. I explained that he did not like the bath and was jerky when getting his nails trimmed. The staff was dressed appropriately and despite five or six groomers on task, the place was clean and no odorl My son picked up Watson and I liked the styling on Watson. He smelled nice and was happy to be home. I was pleased with this appointment and will be back for another as Watson can grow his coat like a champ. read more

If I could give this less than one star I definitely would. I have never been to a place and been treated with such disrespect before. The dog trainer Tristan is probably the worst customer service I've ever encountered and I work in a casino so that's saying a lot. When I ask to speak with his manager over an issue he asked me why, not know let me get my manager. I told him that I didn't appreciate the way he handled the situation and I would like to talk to his manager. After going back and forth with him for about 5 minutes he finally got his manager and she was just as bad. I was supposed to have a puppy class at 3 p.m. and nobody called to tell me that there was no 3 p.m. class anymore that they change it to 11 a.m. Since the manager was no help I asked to talk to her manager. I got so tired of waiting I picked up my puppy to take him to the car and the lady manager is sitting there talking shit about me to the employee's While others other guests around telling what happened. My mom was so upset she went back inside and asked for the manager and he did nothing either. This place has to get it together. I've been coming to PetSmart for over 10 years I will never step foot back in there. What a waste of my time and how disrespected I feel. I usually like Petsmart because they take the best care of their fish but when it comes to the bettas they don't give a crap! As everyone knows bettas are forced to suffer living in tiny cups until adopted out. Petsmart bettas are often sick or in so little water it is cruel. An inch and a half of water is not enough for an organism that lives in the water. When I asked them to take care of the problem they just started talking to the next customer behind me. Petsmart really needs to adopt 5-10 gallon tanks for ALL of their labyrinth fish! read more

It was time to put down my 130 lb gentle giant. Never hurt a soul and my 2 year old grandkids and any small dog could crawl on her pull and tug on her. Never hurt or snapped at anyone/anything. Unfortunately, due to hip problems, arthritis and kidneys failing. To much pain every day for anyone to handle, we made the choice to put her down. Banfield is right down the street and could get her right in. Showed up, they were great...put her in a room and tried to make her comfortable. She was crying the whole time in pain. So what do they do, can't find a vein and poked her 10+ times. Yanking and pulling on her bad shoulder and bad legs. She was crying and yelling the whole time. 45 minutes of being poked, prodded and yanked on she did bite. I know that is horrible, but she was in a lot of pain. So what do they do, make it worse muzzle her so tight she can hardly breathe poke and prod her even more because now they are made and just torture her. Oh they tortured before but now they are mad. And make is worse. The last 45-50 minutes of her life is the worst hell. After speaking with other vets, after the 3rd poke, they do have other options to get the catheter in her arm. Pain meds, anxiety med prior too. Ect. No they chose to make her last hour torture. Never again....my poor poor baby girl. I'm sooo sorry . I would have bit too, what they were doing and my husband kept telling them that is her bad arm or shoulder ect. Other options?? Now they said. Scheduled a dog grooming for my two dogs here. The time comes for my dogs to be groomed and I call in to make sure they received the rabies vaccine records and they tell me that the groomer has called in sick. However nobody bothered to call me and tell me that I couldn't bring my dogs in! I was already loaded up with two dogs and two kids heading down there! Then they don't have another opening for me for over a week. I will not be having my dogs groomed here due to poor customer service and communication. read more

***HORRIBLE GROOMING SERVICES*** I came early to check on my dog being trimmed, I tapped on the glass to make sure he knew i was there. I sat at the bench, and had my head down in my phone for 15 min. I turned around for a quick glance to find that the groomer was pulling relentlessly on his leg. my dog is 30lbs and a big wuss. she didnt realize i was watching, and i knocked on the glass hard to make her stop, i went in there and told her not to pull on his legs as she was doing. she replied with "he is pulling me" - i dont think so. HIS paw was in HER HAND, she had her fingers wrapped tightly around his paw and ankle and literally pulling his leg so hard you could see the shoulder blade being over extended. i was pissed. another girl gave me her opinion while grooming someone elses dog, and she had a big attitude problem. at the end, i thanked the groomer for not breaking my dogs legs. and the other girl scoffed at me as if i were out of line. she explained to me that the groomer had been there a long time, and so on and so forth. i turned to her and told her i didnt need her input, and she could keep quiet while keeping her opinions to herself. i later spoke with the manager and asked if people watch their dogs being trimmed? she said no, everyone leaves. i will NEVER go back. i hope that people care enough to stick around to see how their dogs are being mishandled. i should of recorded it to show just how bad it was. but i was so taken aback that it was an afterthought. read more

I took my Golden Doodle in to be groomed the beginning of December. I had taken her there before, and Tanya did an amazing job, but I couldn't wait to get an appointment with her, so someone else did her. When I picked her up, someone else brought her out to me and said the groomer had gone to lunch, which struck me as odd because she had just called me. When I got her home she kept shaking her head. I checked the inside of her ears numerous times, thinking maybe she had some hair in them, but found nothing. A few days later, I felt something on the ends of both her ears. It turns out she cut both her ears and didn't even tell me. The issue was not so much that she cut her ears, although I would not have been happy with that, but that she avoided me so she wouldn't have to tell me. I was livid, but decided not to go back to complain because it probably would do not good. Well, after a month, and the scabs were still there, I went in to talk to the store manager about it. I must say she handled it extremely well. Now that I think about it she probably has a lot of practice. She asked if we had about ten minutes because she would like her vet to look at her. We agreed and sat there for a half an hour when she walked by and saw us. She went in and talked to them and we got right in. They took my dog in without me, which I didn't like. I go to Baring Vet and they would never bring the dog in to be examined without me there. Then the vet came out and told me they were scabs (which I already knew) and that they could have been caused by razor burn. Didn't even respond to such an absurd explanation. Long story short, I will never, ever go there again! read more
