I've wanted to try this spot for a while and after reading all the Yelp reviews I decided today was the day. I'm a little bummed that I didn't love it as much as I thought. I had that feeling in my stomach like the anticipation of a first date....but after the date I don't think I'll call again. OK, Metaphor done! Here's why. I love my current breakfast burrito from Amigos and this was good but lacking the salsa options of Amigos. And Phannys is out of my current bubble. The BB I give 4 stars. Good not amazing. We also had a chili burger with fries and again a 4 star effort. And we tried the fish sandwich which I would pass on in the future. Zero flavor. Ok bun. Fries were very good and cooked perfectly! Lastly, I don't like to be charged for a refill. Really!!! It's the cheapest thing you serve and a refill charge is like 1000% profit. No thanks. 3 people and a $25.00 bill do me a favor and let go of the .03 for a bit more Diet Coke. Phannys also reminds you not to use too many napkins. Conserve they say. Hmmmmm. Oh and it's an only cash spot. To sum up, if it's in your bubble it's a good spot to grab a BB (and I guess the coffees are supposed to be really good) or a burger. The service is excellent here although the Carne Asada burrito was lacking too much Carne asada. My mom would say "puro huevo" meaning it's all eggs and eggs are cheap especially for a $13 dollar burrito. The burrito consisted of 70% egg 20% hashbrown and 10% Carne asada but it's not steak it's like a frozen beef from those microwavable beef burritos ( cheap meat). Excellent place to grab breakfast burritos if you're in the Palos Verdes area. Parking lot is small but I went on a weekday and I was able to find a spot. Ordered the 2 meat burrito with ham and bacon, and the freshly squeezed orange juice and spent roughly about $13 bucks or so. I usually never finish burritos in one sitting but I did for this one. It wasn't heavy tasting and very fulfilling. Good amount of egg, ham, bacon, and hashbrown. I added jalepenos in mine for an extra kick and it was perfect. Delicious breakfast burritos, especially like the veggie burrito. The crunch of the peppers and onions is a nice contrast to the eggs and usually filling. And everyone is very friendly, and food is fast. Their model is simple with a window for ordering and food for pickup at a door around the back (at least on weekends). I tried the chorizo burrito and the price for it was not worth it. The provided salsa was atrocious; it is just straight up Pace Salsa from the store. The Tapatio packets they gave us had more flavor than the burrito and salsa combined. We had to try the breakfast burrito from Phannys - and we weren't disappointed. They were pretty big and really filling so you can't go wrong with stopping by on the way to the beach! My only thing was they add salsa inside the burrito which can make it soggy. Next time we'll ask for it on the side. It's a little pricey but it's definitely worth a try. read more

It's the perfect size (some burittos you can't even begin to eat because they are overly large). The chorizo is perfectly cooked being crisp/tasty. My second favorite is the vegetarian burrito which is excellent but hands down the chorizo one is for me. And finish it off with freshly squeezed OJ. I will be a lifelong fan. read more

Cute family joint that is loved by the neighborhood! Came in a Sunday morning and it was packed! People were lining up, waiting outside, and the small parking lot in the back was full. I knew it had to be good if everyone was willing to go through all this! I ordered the soyrizo burrito and was impressed with how efficient they are with making everyone's orders. Not sure what else is good here, but my friend said that they were known for their burritos and they had actually updated their menu to be more hip and coffee-esque. When we got the burritos, we headed to the beach which was literally down the street so you already know it was going to be good. I gotta admit, I didn't think that the burrito would be filling enough but I was wrong. It was a lot. The potatoes were crispy and there was plenty of "meat" and eggs. It was so good. And piping hot and sitting at the beach made this a perfect meal! A South Bay classic with a new & hip twist! Phanny's has been a popular, family-owned spot for as long as I can remember. Just a few blocks up from the coast-line, the breakfast all day menu is perfect for anytime of the day, and the burritos are sire to not disappoint. The only things to be weary of are that parking in their lot is limited, and they do not accept credit card. $8/person is more than enough for any item on them menu, so as long as you have some cash on you or an ATM card, all should be well. I have never seen anyone order anything but the breakfast burritos, so I would recommend staying to what they are known for. You can order the meat of your choice or leave the burrito vegetarian with veggies or soyrizo. I got my salsa on the side and was happy I got to pour it in as I pleased. They gave me two containers which was generous and the perfect about. The new-er, hip-er part of Phony's that has changed since I came here in my high-school days is the coffee portion of the menu. They have upscale drink options like horchata lattes and oat milk substitutions. They even have cute stamped cups and a neon light sign that read "in burritos we trust." I had a very unpleasant experience at Phanny's today (November 25, 2018). When I called to inform them of our experience. I was then followed by two phone calls from a gentleman. A gentlemen who questioned me and even questioned if I had ever been there before. My fiancé has lived in the SouthBay for over 20 years, she would go to Phanny's every morning after getting off a 12 hour noc. work day for breakfast at least 3 days a week. The reason for my call was to inform them of the not so good tasting Soy Chorizo burrito she had. I wasn't looking for a free meal, just wanted to give them a heads up, on our experience and have them check it out on their own leisure. When the gentleman called me back I felt like I was under trial. Which only fueled my an anger, thanks to this individual. This person I talked too seemed to want nothing more than to be right and save face. He asked me to bring the burrito back for him to look at. I explained to him serval times. That I bought the burrito along with a pricey mint lemonade for my fiancé, took her food home to her and then left to watch the 10:00 football game. When I got home around 1:30-1:45 she told me of the unpleasant taste of the burrito. She offered it to our dogs and they ate it. For our dogs to eat "soy" is a first. We've tried to get them on that diet for health reasons. But they won't eat it. So, for them to eat and like it. Made us only think it wasn't "soy" but "pork". Which pork is something we do not eat. Again, as a chef in the industry I was just merely giving a heads up to Phanny's. Yes, I wasn't happy that my fiancé had a poor experience, a first bad experience. But after the phone calls and the improper customer service, I'll be just fine going somewhere else next time. read more

This is one of those restaurants that you may drive by if you don't know how good it is. I know I did that for years. The fact is, this is a very good restaurant that serves very good food. They offer Americana with a bit of a Mexican flare. But, the fact is, what they do they do very well. It is GOOD!!! And, the latte' chef takes the time to do very nice designs in all of the drinks he creates. This is a very nice touch. Phanny's has a parking lot in the rear so parking is easy and you don't have to worry about finding parking on PCH or on one of the side streets. From there you just walk in and order at the counter. They give you a number and bring your meal and drinks to your table a few minutes later. The only downside to this restaurant is that they don't have air conditioning. So, in the summer it can get pretty warm inside. They do have an overhead fan but it still gets warm. Just keep that in mind. But, other than that this place is great. The staff is nice and the food is good. Recommended! read more
