First time here - excellent! Every dish was exceedingly tasty - lamb shank off the hook. Great atmosphere. Will be back!

My husband made reservations here for Valentine's Day because we'd heard the food was good. When we got there for a 7:30 reservation, we were told that it was a limited menu and $65/person. I'd checked the website when we got the reservations and there was nothing about a limited menu, but we were sort of stuck since anywhere else would be packed for Valentine's Day. I thought $65 a person was a bit high for a little strip mall Mediterranean joint but wasn't going to start our meal complaining, so we agreed. Our server arrived reasonably quickly and we ordered the Zaalouk and the Baba Ganoush as appetizers. Despite being cold appetizers that just needed to be spooned onto the plate, they took quite a while to come out. Conversation was difficult during this wait because the live music (a singer doing adult contemporary love songs interspersed with a DJ) was far too loud to hear each other. The appetizers finally came out, but all we could do was stare at them forlornly because there was another substantial wait for the pita bread to arrive. The singer kept wailing on and at this point, I had a headache. Once the bread arrived, the zaalouk and baba ganoush were actually both quite good, and (unlike a lot of Mediterranean places) there was enough bread to be able to finish both of them. We ordered our entrees (I'd been looking forward to trying the Koshari but it wasn't on the Valentine's Day menu) and another glass of rose and waited... and waited...and waited. At some point, someone came around to refill our water glasses. We asked about the Rose and were told they were out of it. Our server came over to our table, clearly distracted (not entirely her fault, it didn't seem like they had enough servers for the number of people) and said something about our entrees going to another table (it was difficult to hear over the music). My husband was fuming at this point and I was dreading another hour or more of having to endure the music once we finally got our food. At 8:45, we were told it would be "a few more minutes." At 9 PM we still had no food, so we got up to settle for the appetizers and leave. The manager offered to get us food immediately (if that was possible in the kitchen, why had we waited over an hour?!) and not charge us for the meal, but at that point, we just wanted to leave. We went down the road to Mellow Mushroom and ended up having Valentine's Day pizza. It's a bit of a shame because the food we did have was pretty good and there were several things I was looking forward to trying on the menu on future visits. But after this experience, we have no desire to go back. read more

If I could give this place a negative 10000, I would. I called in advanced to reserve a table. The guy I spoke to (appeared to be the owner) at the time advised me that there would an option to sit and pay for the whole menu or pay for a preset Valentines menu. I told him that I would be happy to come and pay whatever for a good experience with my wife. When my wife and I got there (on 2/14/20) the guy at the door was telling everyone (regardless of reservations) that it was $65 per person to sit. My wife and I agreed to the pricing and sat by the bar while waiting to be seated. Everyone in front of us got their seat and for some reason the host decided to sit an older couple that came after us, before us. I waived him (the host) down and asked him what just happened. He ignored me. After a few minutes he approached me and asked us if we wanted to sit on the same table where the older couple were sitting. I told the host that we had a reservation. He didn't care. My wife looked back at me with disbelief and started walking away. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THiS PLACE TO ANYONE. read more

From the outside, it may look like your average neighborhood arab/Mediterranean restaurant, but Pharos palace is anything but! I wandered in with family on a Thursday evening, and was immediately greeted by the owners, staff, and incredible aroma of freshly cooking Arab food. The restaurant was filling up quickly, but we managed to snag a table! We were on the hunt to find caterers for my upcoming wedding (this was the 3rd restaurant we were trying) and it didn't take but the first bite of the first entree we tried to say, this is it! This is the place! And boy were we right! Ahmed did a fantastic job catering food for over 500 people. We had everything from salads, pitas, rice, lamb, beshemel, hawawashy, and Moroccan tea and everyone was drooling over the food at the wedding! The owner of this establishment is a TERRIBLE MAN! I calmly informed him that my chicken kabob was over-cooked and he immediately got agitated, aggressive, and angry. He then assumed I was the upset one, when it was him. An argument started and I walked away from the table. He ended up canceling our whole meal. We tried to pay for our meal and even tried to tip our waitress but he rejected both offers! HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT! If I could leave no star, I would!! read more

Meh. The place has an identity crisis and the service was bad. I thought we went to a restaurant, but when we got there, it had a dance floor, DJ and rave music pumping. We could barely hear ourselves talk. We were the ONLY people in the restaurant, and the service was terrible. Our server was hanging out at the bar the entire time talking, I had to beg to order food, beg again to order drinks and had to go get my own water bottles for the table because she completely disappeared for over 10 minutes. Being the ONLY table in the house, you would think we at least get some what decent service. Nope. The only redeeming quality was that the food was tasty. It got two stars instead of three because even though the food was tasty, the portions were ridiculously small for what they charged. We recently ordered some takeout from this lovely neighborhood place featuring traditional Egyptian fare. We tried the Koshari, which was delectable and left a satisfying feeling. Waiting for the dishes to be made, we chatted with Ahmed, the proprietor. He was personable and had us try some handmade hibiscus juice. Strong and floral, one could taste the pharaoh's anti-oxidants jumping out. Although it wasn't on the menu, I requested and was able to pick up a bottle of juice the very next week for a house party. It served as a terrific mixer alternative for our friends. These are the kinds of gestures I appreciate from a nice neighborhood restaurant. I will say I was a surprised when I walked into this place and kind of worried because I didn't pay attention to the description to realize it's also a Hookah lounge. I usually don't associate good food with lounges but I was pleasantly surprised. We walked in and was greeted by our amazing server, she made sure to to answer any questions we had about the menu and made sure were well aware of the special cooking times some of the specialty dishes take. My first time trying Egyptian food was when i was in Egypt. I tried their national dish, Koshari. Being back in Atlanta i had searched and called several restaurants asking if they served Koshari and was unable to find it. So when i stumbled upon Pharahos Palace on google, i checked out their menu and say my special dish! :) Took a drive from midtown and was NOT disappointed. The Koshari here is absolutely delish and made my heart and belly full thinking of my time in Egypt. The owner is absolutely nice as we chatted about Koshari and Egypt and my waitress was very sweet as well. What a nice and refreshing spot for a fun night out! A nice cocktail or glass of wine while smoking a hookah is my jam. I love the vibe and ambiance at this place. I had a fantastic ladies evening here. The manager and staff were very friendly, flexible, and super accomodating. They have specials on Wednesday nights. I mostly ate the delicious appetizers, such as dolma, hummus, baba ganoush, tabouli, etc. The bread was wonderful and soft. I'd like to try entree items on my next visit. The hookahs are fabulous and cost $25. I was used to paying around $15 in Midtown, so it seems a little high. Overall, I can't wait to return! read more

And this was it. I just told them to give me anything on the menu and I ended up with awesomeness. My hubby suggested we go for Greek or Mediterranean food so he yelped for a location nearby. He said this place looks interesting, let's go. The food was incredible, delicious, different and yummy! We ate a variety of appetizers instead of a meal. The atmosphere was cool too, we're not into hookah but they offer it and it doesn't spread like cigarettes so it didn't ruin the meal for us. They also had a belly dancer with a live keyboard player. You have to try the Kanafeh, it's a desert. It's similar to baklava but it's not as sticky. The sauce has an orange & cinnamon flavor. It gives the whole thing a slightly sweet taste without being too sugary sweet. It's my new favorite dessert! The owner was so helpful when we were ordering and very attentive. He asked if we liked everything we were eating. There was 1 dish that had eggplant we didn't like, but overall we loved the food! We're definitely going back. read more

Do not waste your money at this place. The service was horrible- Staff was rude, unhelpful and extremely slow. Our food was brought out before we had water, utensils or plates on the table. After asking 3x we were ultimately brought packaged plastic utensils for our meal. The cocktails somehow got worse over the course of the night and our hookah was brought out almost 1.5 hrs after ordering. Food was just OK. This place is very overpriced for what it is, would not recommend, from decor to service and food this place is definition of "bare minimum". The food was incredible and well made, very flavorful, and piping hot. This is newly opened(3 weeks back) and although there are many Persian/Middle Eastern places in alpharetta, this is Egyptian restaurant and lounge. The food had so much flavor and the chicken kofta with rice was mouth watering. The dessert specially recommended by owner was just delicious - baked fresh and well worth the wait. Found this place after a Google search and couldn't resist the chance to try Egyptian food. We started with a appetizer sampler and loved all three choices (hummus, moussaka and zaalouk--but zaalouk was the favorite!) My husband got the Alexandria sausage, which they said was made in house (and tasted like it, too), and I got the lamb shank, which was perfectly cooked and falling off the bone. We finished with kanafeh, which I loved. It was perfectly sweet and crunchy with a thin layer of cheese that kept it from being *too* sweet. They also have a full bar, comfortable couches at their tables, and hospitable staff. They cook everything to order, so don't expect to rush through a meal here. I celebrated my birthday at Pharaohs palace and I had the best experience ever. Sam and Ahmed (the owners) created the perfect set menu for my large party. My group and I really enjoyed our time. The table was set up beautifully with balloons, they had a belly dancer, keyboard and drum players that entertained the crowd all night.
