Went here for a early dinner on a Friday This is a nice place, beautifully decorated, not too big but not too small, kept clean & had calming music that was played at a very pleasing volume. When we arrived the place was practically empty, we were seated right away. It took quite some time for our waiter to come & take our drink order (we thought maybe they were preparing for dinner). We ordered an appetizer, the golden curry puff's (not pictured) & to our surprise it was delicious. It came out very warm, everything tasted fresh. For our entree we ordered the pad kee mao (drunken noodle) & the pad see ew. Both dishes came out fairly quickly and piping hot (always a plus). Both dishes were delicious, packed with flavor, seasoned very well & fairly large servings. I also ordered a small Thai iced tea which was really delicious. The only negative feedback I have is the service could have been better. It took the server almost 10 minutes to come take our drink order (at this point the restaurant was practically empty). After we received our entrees it was a little busier & at that point our server almost disappeared. There were various moments when we tried to get their attention to no success. After a while we had to ask another server for help with napkins, our bill & other things. If it wasn't for the small issue with service this place would deserve the 4 stars. My boyfriend made a reservation for us at Phattra as we've been craving Thai food for weeks! It was pretty busy as it was a Friday night so reservations are recommended. We were seated in the back which looked great to have a big group. We started with the Thai spring rolls and golden curry puff. Both appetizers were the perfect size, 5 spring rolls and 3 curry puffs. For our mains we ordered the pad Thai - chicken for him, tofu for me. The tofu was cooked perfectly with a bit of crisp. With an extensive menu Phattra serves up some of the most authentic dishes and flavors of Thailand. From the Massaman curry, the pad thai and the soft shell crab love were delicious! Stunning Thai restaurant located in a great area with lots of other restaurants and family friendly neighborhood. Lots of public and street parking available. One of my favorite Thai restaurant! This place is so cute and low-key for a date night. The service is always wonderful the food comes out quick. Everything taste extremely fresh. This place is BYOB. It's quiet you can have conversation here with no problem. they sing happy birthday to you with the song. The food is always great the snapper is delicious with a beautiful presentation. The drunken noodle never disappoints we come here all the time. The appetizer for two is great they change the shape of the curry puffs from when I used to come here but it was still just as good. The Thai iced tea is delicious the only thing is I wish they could alter how much sugar they put in it but since it's premade they usually can't. Quantity of the food was a lot. Infact , 4 of us could have easily shared 3 dishes . Fantastic service and amazing food. Spring rolls were awesome . Pineapple fried rice was really good . Green and red curries were authentic and tasted great . Green curry was a bit spicy but we loved the spicy flavor . Drunken noodle was average . Not that well made as compared to other places . I'm always on the prowl for delicious Thai restaurants and make a point to visit them whenever I'm in a new city. While staying in Edison NJ, I looked to Yelp for guidance on where to eat. Based on many FANTASTIC reviews we chose Phattra Thai. I made a reservation, because it was a Saturday night. This was a great idea, because by the time we got to the restaurant (parking was difficult to find, it's all street parking), there was a huge line of people waiting to be seated. We were seated very quickly once checked, so I can't stress making a reservation enough ; ) ... We ordered the chicken satay and the shrimp philo appetizers, both were delicious. We ordered the Pad See Ew, the honey Duck, Massaman curry, pad kra pow and pad cashew. Everything was phenomenal! Phattra Thai does it right and we will for sure be back on our next visit. read more

I was a bit disappointed on the no alcohol but there's a liquor and wine store right across the street as well as bubble tea so it worked out. I came here to celebrate my mom's birthday with a party of 7-8 and they were accommodating for a last minute reservation. Our hostess was nice and understanding. Entering the restaurant, front square is a Buddha Shrine Thai style. Overhead are Edison lights illuminating the eatery creating a warm and festive vibe. Warm wood tones abound the restaurant. Tables, chairs and flooring are all wood. Service was attentive and polite. Plates were cleared upon confirmation. We ordered the Drunken Noodles with tofu, Pad See Ew with tofu and a special, Softshell Crab salad. The Drunken Noodles was the tastiest and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The green beans, onions and mushrooms were not overdone. Soft thick rice noodles and the touch of spiciness were just right. The Kid stated the Pad See Ew was OK but use of the bitter woodsy stems and uneven incorporation of black pepper made for off putting bitterness and burst of peppery spiciness. Wifey had the soft-shell crab salad and noted that the soft-shell crab was heavily fried. It sat atop a small bed of romaine with some mango slaw and topped with strawberry slices. The soft-shell crab was good, the salad was just romaine and the mango slaw was a weird concoction of tart, sour and sweet. Overall, it was a good experience. I've been coming to this place for a few years now and continue to love it more and more! The food is consistently yummy, specifically their chicken pad thai which always hits. The service has always been good as well, even on busy days the food comes out in a fair amount of time. Recently they did some major renovations inside and got new dishware sets which are so pretty! I've gone with small and large tables and they've been very accommodating each time. I would suggest making a reservation for dinner especially with a larger party, but part of the renovations was an expansion so that's a big upgrade for wait times. I went on a Tuesday night so not sure why it was so busy unless it's always like that? The inside was packed too! I ordered the roti, pad Thai, pad see ew, drunken fried rice, pad kee mao, and green curry. Honestly everything was great and I would recommend ordering. The only things that particularly stood out was that the roti was very delicious so if you're leaning toward an appetizer, I definitely recommend that. Last minute scrutiny of Yelp for a Thai Restaurant to celebrate Mother's day brought us to Phattra Thai in Metuchen. There was visible sign to help spot this place . We found street parking and walked past the door to find the sign on the window a lovely lotus filled water feature and another window with food samples on display. Walked in to find a rather bling filled interior and candid framed photos of Thailand on her wall. They don't take reservations , but we only had a 10 min wait. We had to order everything for the table at the very beginning which some restaurants do in the area . Starting with appetizers , Spring rolls with a sweet dipping sauce was fried crispy goodness . Fried Calamari was too chewy- not worth trying . The Roti Thai style with a spicy curry was finger licking good . Chicken Satay - tender well seasoned with a pickled veggies and s peanut dipping sauce . Pad Thai - too sweet - not liked by anyone except my younger niece Drunken noodles - quite good Phuket style noodles - the best / don't miss it - it's on the specials menu Green curry & Red curry were very light and lovely . Unlike the creamy curries I have had at other Thai restaurants. Subtly flavored but very tasty . It's almost like having a light green broth with veggies on rice . They were out of the fried ice cream so we ended our meal with fried banana with ice cream which was still the hot & cold combination that we loved . My first response was two stars, BUT the restaurant is conveniently located on the main street in Metuchen, service was friendly albeit rushed because I went close to the time they were closing the kitchen, and the ambience and decor are cute. Also, because it was late evening, street parking was easy to find although the Pearl Street garage is also walking distance (about two blocks away). The downside was the food, mainly that my chicken curry dish was bland and somewhat watery, and the veggies/peppers were hard. I'm used to a thicker consistency and more flavor. I don't eat Thai often, but I've definitely had better. This was almost tasteless aside from the spice. Given all this, I think 3 stars is fair although I am unlikely to return. read more

I wasn't a big fan of it because it had huge size vegetables, half size tomatoes and tofu was over cooked(deep fried) to the point that it changed the flavor of the dish. It seemed like they were understaffed which took quite some time for the food to arrive. If you're looking for a quiet dine in place, STAY AWAY from this place. It tends to get very noisy and chaotic. Must visit if you are in the area and are Thai food fan. Largest Large Thai iced tea I've ever seen. PS: This place is a BYOB. I love this place! they have amazing decorations- the ambiance is perfect for a nice meal out (but not too nice that you need to think too hard about your outfit haha) We did not have a reservation, but we were quickly seated, and the service was great. I really enjoyed the chow fun- the noodles were perfectly cooked and it was sooo flavorful. I literally ate slower just to enjoy it longer LOL also. the thai tea. large. is a must. you really get the value with the large, we ended up taking the rest out with us even though we shared between the two of us. it was a sight to be seen. I really recommend this place. With beautiful decorations, excellent service, and great food, it's hard to find a better combination. I would love to try some of their other dishes although I'm not sure if I'd want to give up the opportunity to have their chow fun again...
