Completely worth the hype. Celebrated my girlfriends birthday here and the food was impeccable, as well as the staff. Having downed a few cocktails an hour beforehand, I must have had 6 glasses of water at dinner to alleviate the impending hangover. My glass was filled at all times, much appreciated. We shared the famous chicken satay, dumpling sampler, green prawns, and crispy orange beef. The stars were the satay and the beef, the dumplings were just standard, would probably pass next time. I really enjoyed the prawns though! The satay and beef were insane. We got the "portion for 1" which really is enough for 2. Don't be fooled by the "for 2" portions, not necessary unless you get one entree. The bill came out to ~$140 for all of this which was perfectly reasonable for how amazing this dinner was. I've been going here for many years because the food is good and so are the drinks. It's become a tradition to go here on Christmas Day with family. Their lettuce wraps, chicken satay, lychee martini and shrimp fried rice are among my favorite food items. If you're on a diet, you can get the vegetable lettuce wraps, or the chicken lettuce wraps, and be satisfied. The Mr. Cheng noodles are good too. So are the dumplings. Great for sharing plates. Went for dinner with a friend at 6pm on a weekday. The restaurant was pretty empty and they tried to give us and another couple the worst two tables all the way in the corner in the back. We were both told that there were reservations for the tables that we had requested and the booth that the other couple wanted. We settled on tables next to each other in the front section and watched the tables that they wouldn't give us remain empty until we both left. The chicken satay was outstanding but the rest of the food was average at best. I WILL NEVER RETURN based on the attitude of the hostess and assistant manager, Christy Truong, who was beyond rude to us. The other couple was in town from Long Island and they said the same thing. This is an over priced Chinese restaurant that is past its prime. I'm sure the Miami location will close within a year. read more

Sooo good in all aspects! My best friend and I came here for the first time the other day and it was AMAZING. We made a reservation maybe 30 minutes before online (you need one to dine in) and walked in with no issues. We were greeted right away and seated within 5 minutes after checking our coats. The ambiance in the restaurant was very warm and inviting. I will say that as the night went on, they appeared to dim the lights in the dining area so keep that in mind. As for the food, I ordered the vegetable fried rice with the sweet and sour chicken and my friend had the shrimp fried rice with the kung pao chicken. I kid you not, I will be having dreams about that fried rice and sweet and sour chicken for the foreseeable future. The rice was soo fresh and yummy and the chicken had the perfect mix of sweet and tanginess to it. As for the portion sizes, they are very generous so keep in mind you will be leaving with a doggy bag lol. During dinner, we were given complimentary champagne which was unexpected but a nice touch. My only regret is that I haven't had the pleasure of trying Philippe's sooner! I absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered. The Chicken Satay was unbelievably great packed with so much flavor and the accompanying peanut sauce was superb. The Crispy Seaweed was definitely an interesting surprise when it came to flavor and I really enjoyed it. I also highly recommend the walnut sesame prawns. The service was welcoming and Covid restrictions were appropriately in place. We ate there last night on the recommendation of American Express. We got two appetizers and split three main courses. The chicken lettuce wraps, and the dumpling sampler were tasty, although for $19 6 dumplings is a bit expensive. For the mains, we got the peppers and filet mignon stirfry, the lobster noodles, and the nine season shrimp. The nine season shrimp were by far the best thing we had. Perfectly fried and the sauce wa delicious. The filet was great as well, and they were generous with the amount of filet they give you. By far the worst thing we had was also the most expensive. For $85 the lobster noodles was a basic lo mein dish I could have had anywhere else. They give you a decent portion of lobster, but ours was way over cooked and under sauced. For the price I can't recommend. If you find yourself there, I would not get anything on the lobster menu or anything expensive like that read more

With a menu "inspired" by Mr. Chow's a few blocks farther south, Philippe is easier on the wallet than Mr. Chow, while offering excellent service and generous portions of tasty food. The nine seasonings spicy prawns and the green prawns are my personal favorites among the seafood items, and the spicy velvet chicken and the Beijing chicken (with the subtle sweetness of red bean paste) are my favorite poultry dishes. The cotton candy baked alaska is an interesting dessert, both visually and in terms of flavor. NY Post was wrong. They were wrong. It is not the best in the city. It's the best in the state, the north east..all coasts. It is simply the best. Better than what I've tasted even at the night food markets in Singapore - and if you have eaten there you understand the high level of culinary magic i am making a direct reference to... the satay is visually beautiful: it is light-rose in color - the kinda color you see in renoir paintings. It is so incredibly! soft to touch - imagine a bouncy marshmellow.... the creaminess it is coated in could only be created by someone who understands master-french cooking techniques. the taste makes time stop...and all you taste is the epic flavors bursting in your mouth bathing your palette. time stops. so, I clearly like it. :-) go. you will a great experience. We came here for Christmas dinner. They seated us promptly, service was attentive - maybe a little too business-like, but admittedly it was a busy/crowded night and the staff was harried. Our party of five (two adults, three kids) ordered the prix fixe dinner, I think it was the "Golden" dinner at $145/person. Obviously pricey but the food did not disappoint- lots of delicious items. Our favorites were the Peking Duck and the Chilean sea bass. Overall a great experience, with a few negatives: 1) Music was deafening. I think there was a subwoofer under the table next to us. Can't imagine what it must have been like sitting at that table. 2) They were missing a lot of items, including the dumplings and baked Alaska. They told us up front that they were out of dumplings- seriously, how does a Chinese restaurant with a prix fixe menu run out of dumplings! - but we didn't find out about the baked Alaska until dessert arrived and we noticed it was conspicuously missing. Not cool! 3) Restroom setup was sub optimal. We had a single unisex restroom near us (apparently there was another one up front) and it was adjacent to the busiest part of the kitchen. Total tab was over $1100, which included 4 cocktails and two glasses of wine. Kinda steep even for upscale NYC dining but the high quality food made it generally worthwhile. read more

I'll admit that I didn't want to like Philippe's. The idea of a super high-end Chinese food restaurant where there is an emphasis on beautiful people seating you and catering to your every need is a little much for me. I'm more low key and casual when it comes to dining out. The idea of spending crazy money on what I thought would be basic fare had me just seeing dollar signs every where. I did not want to like it here just for the simple fact that fancy people come here to feel fancy. I liked it though, I really did. I surprised myself. I came in about 20 minutes before my friend arrived and the hostess (who was beautiful, tall, and wearing one of the tightest black outfits I've ever seen - bless her and her genetics) greeted me immediately. I told her my friend had made a reservation and that I was early. I just wanted to sit by the bar. She smiled and walked me over to an empty seat. Friendly service so far which shocked me. I ordered a glass of wine at the bar while I waited and soon my friend arrived. Our hostess, along with servers in white suits and red ties, escorted us to our table. Very extra but very friendly. We didn't even look at the menu since my friend comes here often. Here's what we ordered: The crispy beef - SO good, would order over and over again ($24 for one person, $54 for 2 people - WHAT??!) The lettuce wraps with chicken which were, again, amazing ($18) and probably one of the cheaper menu items considering the portion size The chicken satay skewers - the signature pink creamy covered chicken with the famous peanut sauce that everyone here orders ($18 for 3 pieces, gasp) and posts to social media We also ordered some forgettable dumpling dish but the name is escaping me since the other dishes blew this one out of the water Very fancy, very extra, and concluded dinner feeling very stuffed. As we wrapped up our meal, some famous rapper and his entourage sat next to us, or so I was told. His name escapes me because it was "Lil" something and I never heard any of his songs. Whatever. I do remember that they ordered the pink chicken though. A crowd pleaser! Dessert was up next - on the house, since the person I was with knew the staff well and frequents this place. I powered through dessert even though I felt like a beached baby seal. They brought out cappuccinos, fruit salad (this was $16 when I checked the menu later), sorbet ($12 when I checked) and a flourless chocolate cake ($14). I was ready to be rolled home since I did DAMAGE on these desserts. They weren't unbelievable or anything, but everything was fresh. Knowing how much these would normally cost, I didn't want anything to go to waste. Shockingly, I think I'd come back for a special occasion. I don't think I could bring myself to make this a habit or become a regular here to the point where I get my own free round of desserts, but I appreciate the quality food and service here... even though it's all a bit extra. read more

Healthy size portions with delicious sauce Dumpling sampler (6 pieces total - 2 each of shrimp, chicken & vegetable). Appreciated that the skin was not too thick and again generous (filling) Ordered entrees with sides like house fried rice and vegetable stir fry Beijing chicken - chicken breast, sweet red bean sauce with walnuts Filet mignon & green beans tenders with spicy brown garlic sauce Both dishes were quite saucy and not what I was expecting (in preparation and in presentation). While I was expecting higher quality fare, i did enjoy the dishes as they were tasty and satisfying. For dessert, tried the: Fortune cookie red velvet cake with cream cheese icing, fresh raspberries Dark chocolate layer cake with milk chocolate crème filling, dark chocolate glaze, miso-caramel ice cream, fresh raspberries Both tasted like they just came out of the fridge and, while they sounded interesting, were actually quite average I was still hungry after the RW meal that I also ordered the Crispy Duck with house made pancakes and additional brown rice . I really enjoyed the duck - too bad it was not part of the RW menu. Making me drool, just remembering the Chicken Satay! Best ever! And I don't even like it usually. I only ordered it because it was one of the choices on the Prix Fixe lunch menu (please see the menu photo I uploaded from a week ago). As for the rest of the meal, the Crispy Orange Beef was the biggest disappointment. To describe the experience, imagine spaghetti thin strands of beef rolled in dense thick soggy fried dough with a tangy greasy orange sauce. Honestly, I've had better versions of this dish at my local Chinese restaurant. That shouldn't be. On the other hand, the dessert was delicious. I ordered the Warm Cocoa Brownie with coconut sorbet, strawberries and fresh whipped cream. The sorbet was especially good, perfect texture and balanced, not overly sweet. Very very good. Ambience - enjoyed the intimate atmosphere & cute Panda chopstick holders. Waitstaff attentive but not pretentious. Felt very comfortable. Nice diverse crowd, like seeing that. Seemed everyone was being treated with equal consideration. Like seeing that too. I guess my only complaint (and this is a complaint about restaurants in general) is that the waiter was Russian (I was curious so I asked) but the staff cleaning up were all Latino or minority. This is a somewhat upscale Asian fusion restaurant, which leans heavily Chinese. The atmosphere and service were excellent, and it's definitely a place to see and be seen. The food was all very good, though I don't think it was any better than any other good Chinese restaurant you might visit. You definitely pay for the ambience and environment. I got the lobster with ginger and scallion, pork wonton soup, soup dumplings, and spring rolls. While the prices are all a bit more inflated then you'd expect, the three shrimp spring rolls for $22 was a stand out. They were very good, but I've seen priced. I would return for date night, or some other special occasion, but not for a casual dinner. Go for the service and environment, the food is good, but nothing stellar. read more
