If you're from Philadelphia, this place is worth a visit. There are only a handful of places in SF which have authentic cheesesteaks, and this place is one of them. What makes them authentic? Amoroso's rolls and Cheez Whiz. I ordered mine "Whiz wit", which to me has always meant Cheez Whiz and onions. The cook asked if I wanted peppers, which made me wonder if "wit" in some circles means both onions and peppers. The neighborhood is not great. Note to the owners: your soda selection is excellent. Consider stocking sodas from Philadelphia such as Hires Root Beer, Frank's Black Cherry Wishniak, Hank's, and a birch beer. Please also consider carrying Tastykakes. I watched as the chef coated the bread with wiz first, then topped all the meat and peppers on top of that and then he put more wiz on the sandwich. They then proceeded to make the fries. Im not sure what they put in their pizza fries but it tasted exactly like pizza pringles. Some of you might think that is gross but them fries was C R A C K I N. Anyways, back to the sandwich. So we ordered all the food to go. We got back to my friends shop and proceeded to eat. My first reaction to this big ass sandwich was "How the hell do I eat this thing?" I haven't had a cheesesteak this good in a couple years. Meat was well seasoned, cheese was melted perfectly! I stopped by Phillies yesterday around 3PM, with no customers or employees in sight. But within a minute, someone came out to take my order. I decided to be simple and just get the regular cheesesteak with provolone cheese, onions, and peppers. The sandwich took about 5 to 7 minutes to make and the seating area was quickly filled with the wonderful aroma of melted cheese and steak while I was watching The Dr. Oz Show on their TV. The bread was a little soggy by the time I got home, but other than that, the sandwich as a whole was delicious! Lots of tender steak and a few slices of peppers to add a little heat. My only disappointment was that it wasn't cheesy enough. Although I'm not a vegetarian, I love the idea that Phillies uses a separate grill for the vegetarian sandwich. The menu is large and in-your-face when you walk in. There's not a lot of seating here, just three round tables and one counter table. I originally wanted to come on a Thursday to get the $10 combo meal, but I figured I'd save some bucks and just come on any other day for a sandwich alone. Probably the best philly cheese Ive had in a while. All sandwiches are 10 inches and at $6.75 for the original, its a decent value. The sandwich was decently juicy and greasy and not too dry. I wish they added more onions and cheese though to make the filling more gooey but the sandwich was delicious. The bread was decent as it tasted slightly toasted and not too soft or hard. The cherry peppers added a little kick. We also got the fries which were decent and big enough to share with 2-3 people. Overall, I would come back if I was craving philly cheese as its slightly better than the cheese steak shop. I wish they had curly fries though. read more

I've just been introduced to the world of cheesesteaks. I'm normally not a beef eater so I never really had much of an inkling to try one. Well now I'm hooked. I always order the Mushroom steak with cheese whiz and holy cowl is it huge! The philly is just overflowing with meat and all the other goodness in it. The meat is full of flavor that even a person who doesn't always care for beef will enjoy it immensely. I always get the peppers added to mine because it gives the cheesesteak that extra bite to really enhance the flavor. My husband always orders the Peppersteak Philly with onions and peppers added. This time he added the buffalo sauce. The added sauce really made this philly "pop". So delicious. (Yep of course i had a bite) Cheese whiz fries are a must! Nothing better to have piping hot french fries drenched in cheese whiz to accompany my cheesesteak. Next up to try is their chil cheese fries. I've also had the fried mushrooms and zuchinni. Both are delicious but now I"m hooked on the zucchini. It's so crunchy and full of flaovr and the sauce goes well with it. It's a nice clean restaurant. Owner is friendly and makes you feel welcomed. Definitely a nice addition to this area. I love that this is so close to my home so that when i get that hankering for a cheesesteak I can just hop in my car and head over. Wow, this is the best cheesesteak I ever had. From the outside this place looks like it belongs somewhere else just because the stores on the block don't look clean. The inside is a whole different story. On a block like this I really didn't know what to expect. Super delicious philly. The meat is tender and the toasted roll is sweet and soft. I get the mushroom philly with everything. The hot and sweet peppers definitely round it out for me, but some may think they distract from the luscious meat-bread-cheese combo. Little joint in our neighborhood - always drove by but never stopped in and we finally did. I don't know why but was surprised how clean the facility was. As soon as you walk in the smell invites you to continue walking in. The staff super friendly and super efficient. The menu choices awesome. I ordered delivery from this place during my one of my hangovers. I was kind of going for a greasy, artery clogging philly cheesesteak that I'm used to in Berkeley, but I read good reviews for this one so I gave it a try. I've had one philly cheese steak from Philly and I remember it being good and different than the California ones. This sandwich reminded me so much of that. It was so so good and on a long soft bun. I got the "works" with cheese whiz and the sweet peppers and hot peppers on the side (since I wasn't sure if I wanted it inside). I was so wrong.
