This is the closest thing to a real Philly cheesesteak you can get in CA. That being said, it's still not the same as the real deal. man this place has changed. new owners? certainly new staff. we tried it again after 2 years of a boycott. the service was so friendly. the food was prepared quickly. the food was so well seasoned and melted in your mouth. the restaurant was spotless. even looking past the counter - the work areas were spotless and well maintained. lots of families eating in there too. this place has TURNED IT AROUND. we have already been 2x this month. we will be back. great job phillys best. Be careful the staff here will overcharge you when you try to use the buy one get one free sandwich from yelp. Went in there today to redeem my sandwich showed the employee my offer told me it would be cheaper to go with the combo to get my offer for the sandwich. The experience I had at this restaurant was one of the worst I can remember in recent history. Came here with 3 buddies for a late lunch on an empty saturday. Arrive and order just a sandwich...told by who was I assume the owner that there is a $10 min credit charge. REALLY?! All of the items on your menu are less than $10. He proceeds to try and upsell me on a combo or other items, I say no and pay for my friends food instead. After a bad ordering experience from what seemed to be an agitated boss, we try and get some condiments of which there were hardly any, then the manager proceeds to yell at us that he has all the condiments in the back and all we have to do is ask. Worst service I have ever seen. Went today on LABOR DAY for god sakes. My wife and I waited at the counter to order. 2 employees on duty.... Five minutes at the counter... no acknowledgement by either employee, than 5 more minutes with no response by either employee. There was now 5 people waiting to order. It should be noticed that the previous orders by other diners were completely screwed up, ie: packaged to go when they wanted to eat in etc. Finally after about a 10 minute wait with no one wanting to take my order we left. Philly's Best is the best Philly Cheesteak in town. Of course, I've never been to Philly to compare the authenticity of it, so what do I know. My favorite is the Chicken, Cheese, Onion sandwich. Overall I'd have to say this place is pretty dang good. I have driven by many times and never gone in due to the low ratings. However, I honestly think it's good food, good pricing, and very generous portions. I had the cheesesteak hoagie with onions and fries on the side. The food was served quickly and tasted great. The food comes out fairly fast and when I ask him for extra cheese on my fries, he doesn't charge extra for it which is delightful. I have eaten here a lot and love the greasy mess of a sandwich this is. I have tried the philly cheese steak, the barbecue chicken, and the buffalo chicken. I loved them all, but buffalo chicken was the best. There is always a lot of melty cheese and it is dripping with sauce. Then my Postmates driver pick up my order. While delivering someone other order from some where else. Meanwhile my food from your place of business is driving all over town before it's delivered to me on 3-18-21 at early evening time now once the driver pick up from your business your food for a CUSTOMER of your business. It took over 48 minutes after sitting on the counter and being cooked, my order of food was delivered yes delivered but STONE COLD sandwich and rings. Yes onion rings were mushy batter on what was left on onion rings. This pandemic has been tough, but for food business to not care about their food when being delivered by a third party. And the delivery service add $$$ to your food and take zero responsibility for their job delivering your and all other place's. i've only had cheesesteak once in my life and that was this past spring in philadelphia (@ Tony Lukes....not the super famous ones like genos/pats) so that is all i can compare it to. obvious to say, this california/nevada chain restaurant fails to compare to the real thing. BUTTTT if youve never had it before, it's not a bad sandwhich, better than subway or quiznos. they make it fresh when you order it. my biggest gripe, though, is my mushroom steak was nearly $9 and they used CANNED mushrooms and gave me less than 10 pieces. 2 slices of onion or less. sigh. I drive by this place daily and never knew what it was. (It's hidden behind a chinese fast food place in the CVS plaza off of Kraemer and Yorba Linda). So I went in and ordered their signature sandwich: Philly's best, which is a cheesteak sandwich with onions, peppers and mushrooms. I wasn't completely wowed by it, but then again I don't have anything to compare it to. Hmmmm........unless you count those philly cheesesteak sandwiches that are in the freezer section of Costco (those are pretty tasty). The sandwich was a lot smaller than I anticipated especially for the price. I think it came out to $7.39 +tax. The bread is soft, mushrooms juicy, peppers and onions full of flavor and the meat is ok. Anyways, I like the sandwich enough to return every once in a while. Oh, and if you plan on using your debit/credit card you need a min order of $10. read more
