I love Philz coffee. Such delicious, light, and such good coffee! My only critique is that I wish they had espresso, otherwise, the coffee and flavors are amazing! Really good quality and fresh ingredients. I love the honey haze, probably my favorite one! My friend has had their teas and also really enjoyed it. Definitely really tasty. I wish you could add more caffeine if you wanted a really strong coffee, but that's OK. I think Philz is solid and I wish we had one in the PNW! this location was BUSY for the morning! Not a lot of space to move around, definitely had all the tables/chaired nearly filled, but just a tight place. A little loud given the morning crowd, but that's OK - just means it's a hot spot :) I think we got our order a little longer than 10 minutes? I don't know why I come here and wait 20 minutes for a coffee every time. Extremely unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Just seems like a weird place how the staff acts. Guy puts a coffee up with no name, never says anything, and leaves it there until the person asks for his drink. He just looks at him and points to a drink with no name. Doesn't say anything. Overall Philz' coffee is great! This review is specifically for my less than stellar experience this morning. My order was set to be ready at 7:15. Normally the crew here crank drinks out and I get my order a few min sooner but that wasn't the case this morning. 7:20 rolls around and my order still wasn't ready. At this point I'm exercising my patience (breathe in, breath out) while catching up on my socials but now my focus shifts to my barista (Marley) - who seems to be moving at less than break neck speed. 7:30 rolls around and that's when I decided to inquire about my drink. Marley scrolls through his order screen and finds me and nonchalantly says "I can make it now". No apologies. No regard for my time. At the same time, more crew members start to trickle in. Although he did say he would make it, he ended up pawning it off to another barista who just started their shift. Finally got my coffee at 7:35. Am I going to stop going to Philz? I've been coming to Philz every now and then for a coffee. I came back today to try the new matcha. I would say the matcha is pretty good, however, the strawberry syrup reminds me of strawberry flavor medicine. In that sense, it made the drink not that enjoyable. The wait time for a drink is pretty long especially on the weekend. The wait time estimate is pretty accurate. I recommend ordering ahead of time or risk a 20 minute wait on a weekend! read more

I ordered a tiramisu flavored coffee(hot). My friend ordered the salted butterscotch(hot). Delicious flavors, but served slightly above room temp. I feel I would prefer this temp over scorching hot though, but for the full experience, I feel it should have been hotter. We ordered the piña colada croissant. It was pretty unique, a 7 out of 10, according to my friend. I had the cherry almond coffee cake and it was delicious! Fluffy, sweet with just a slight bit of tartness from the cherry. Ordered warm! Recommended by my partner's cousin to try out this coffee shop. Something warm since it was a bit chilly but also comforting. Philz Coffee was the shop to go to if you're looking for something a little indulgent but not overpowering. We walked in and the shop had a good amount of folks hanging out, meeting, working, schoolwork, etc. We ordered the: 1. Philtered Soul (Hot) - Nice hazelnut flavor bringing warmth and nuttiness. It was not overly sweet (with was great!) and blended nicely with a subtle taste of chocolate adding a good amount of richness. It's smooth, cozy, and feels like the perfect coffee to sip at home with a blanket on a chilly day or night. 2. Honey Haze (Hot) - Same ingredients as the Philtered Soul but added a touch of honey and oat milk. The honey brough a natural sweetness that complements the hazelnut beautifully. The oat milk added a velvety smoothness to the coffee which feels extra luxurious. Overall, enjoyed our time and experience with Philz Coffee. I ordered a chamomile tea and it really hit the spot. Instead of using a regular tea bag, they actually used real chamomile flowers, which was such a nice surprise. The flavor came through so much more fresh and vibrant, and it had just the right amount of natural sweetness without being overpowering. It felt really soothing and comforting--exactly what I needed. I also loved how much care they put into the presentation; you can tell they really think about quality here. Coffee is always solid, of course -- at this point, I feel like it's consistent across all Philz. BUT here is the reason I gave them three stars. 1) This is the first Philz that I've gone to where the customer service was 'meh'. Now, I don't expect a red carpet or nothing crazy but I stood there for my pick-up order via door dash for almost 10 mins. No one acknowledged me, which is fine as I was "early" for my 4:15pm order. But once it hit 4:14, I had to get the attention of an employee to pick up my 4:15 order which was already sitting there hidden behind the counter. Perhaps they were short staff, but I would not come back to this Philz because of how cold the staff seems.. 2) Also, it's physically FREEZING in there. It's as cold as a mortuary and honestly the whole layout seems funky having the couch all the way towards the back. 3) Ambiance definitely needs work, not a place I would ask a friend to join me for coffee nor a place I would do work / homework. I have visited Philz Coffee twice, and unfortunately both experiences have been disappointing for the same reason. Each time, when it was our turn to order, we were consistently overlooked by the same male employee working the register. We noticed a pattern where as soon as we reached the front of the line, he would begin attending to other tasks and leave us standing there waiting. During our most recent visit, despite being the only customer in line, he left the register area and went over to the barista station to engage in conversation while we continued to wait to place our order. The situation became increasingly uncomfortable and awkward, and it was clear that we had been forgotten. Thankfully, another employee noticed what was happening and stepped in to take our order. Had that employee not intervened, we likely would have been waiting much longer. I want to recognize and thank the employee who assisted us, as their professionalism and attentiveness helped turn the experience around. However, being ignored multiple times as a paying customer is frustrating and not the level of service I would expect. I hope management addresses this issue so that future customers feel acknowledged, respected, and valued when they visit. read more

With all due respect, I think I'm better off making coffee at home. I usually like Philz--it's probably my second choice after Peet's (which, in my opinion, is top tier and hands down the best coffee). However, the drinks from this particular location have consistently been lacking flavor. I've tried multiple drinks made by different baristas, and it's been disappointing every time. I know I could ask them to remake it instead of complaining on Yelp, but I'm just not that person. I'd rather force it down, get it over with, and move on with my day. read more

I love Philz, it's my favorite weekend treat. Coffee here is strong but so good. I always end up chugging half of it before I realize how much I've had. Surprisingly, I've never gotten jittery/anxious from the coffee here despite its strength (I read online that it's over 300 mg of caffeine for a large!). I don't have a favorite since everything tastes good with light cream/light sugar, but I am slowly making my way through the menu and hoping to establish my ranking soon. I will say that the level of sweetness tends to vary quite a bit depending on which barista you get, but I don't really care that much. Parking can be a pain but overall will continue to come back to this location because it's so close to home! read more

'Chai is not their thing' My guy is big on chai - Indian chai. Stopped into Philz since they had chai on the menu - not tea but chai. In the Bay Area, one would expect that a coffee shop with chai on the menu would know how to make it. Not the case at this location. The drink was a weak mint tea with cream. The drink was to go and get lid didn't fit well at all. The cup was too hot hold and even with a second cup, it was too hot to hold. All and all not a great chai. Landed up tossing the drink. Then they'll grind the coffee beans. Each cup is a brewed in a French press. We both asked for Jacobs Wonderbar dark blend. It took awhile - maybe ten to fifteen minutes. Last time we asked for sweet & creamy. This time we asked for black. It was a strong cup of Joe. We shared the salt chocolate chip cookie. It was a perfect accompaniment.
