The broth was very heavily spiced and slightly sweet. Since the table had soy sauce, chili oil, and Sriracha I doctored the broth to my preference. I have to leave this review due to being accused of lying. Let me start off by saying that I come here to eat pho, I have several times with no issues. I enjoy the pho from here. Unfortunately, this time there was insect eggs in my meal. I called and explained to them what had happened and they offered to remake but I kindly declined and they offered a refund. I was satisfied with how they handled the situation until they asked for a photo of the eggs and when I sent it they accused me of grabbing it from the web and that I shouldn't be lying, its wrong. I then sent more photos and another video (fortunately I still had the insect eggs in a ziplock bag) explained I have no reason to lie about this. The least they could've done was apologize for making an accusation but of course they did not. Good food, customer service... not so much now. read more

Decided to try this restaurant since I was walking by after dropping off a package at UPS. There was a good amount of people eating and I read good reviews. I didn't try the Pho, I ordered the Combination Sag Noodles. Might have been a big mistake because I was not impressed. The dish had almost no flavor which was very disappointing because my dish was not cheap. If I ever decide to try again, I'll be sure to order the Pho which people seem to enjoy. read more

Amazing Pho place! been here 2 times now, when we walked in it was a bit busy but we got seated pretty quickly (bonus for picking our own table and menus were handed to us awesome!) i tried the beef pho it was very tasty and it really hit the spot for my pho craving. Me and my family always loves this Pho restaurant. (TL;DR at the end) Everything that I've eaten here has been delicious and is my go-to for Pho in San Antonio. I always order their Vietnamese Spring Rolls and it always comes out piping hot, to the point where you have to break it open and let it cool before you eat it. My only recommendation would be to serve it with a sweet fish sauce mix that I've had at another Pho restaurant, rather than the sweet chili sauce; to me it just tastes better but just preference. As for the Pho, it is always consistent. The broth is the same whether you order to-go, eat it at the restaurant, or even leave it in the fridge and reheat 2 days later. The noodles always comes out with a good consistency. Some may like their noodles more soggy, some may like it more Al-dente, but these noodles to me are the perfect middle texture when it comes to noodles. The broth is very savory with a good note of ginger (which is normal) that isn't overwhelming and to me, it does not taste as game-y. If you want your Pho to taste less game-y, you can always add cilantro or basil, which comes with your Pho on the side. I always finish my bowl no matter how hungry or not hungry I am, and I never feel sick or dis-satisfied afterwards. An improvement to the restaurant, to me, is that the restaurant stopped smelling like old bamboo or old rice inside. I know it sounds weird, but a few months beforehand it had a very distinct, a little unpleasant, smell to the restaurant that wouldn't bother me after 4-5 minutes, but was still a strange thing. It stopped smelling like that though but it was very.. interesting LOL. In terms of service, always fantastic. There is always a couple familiar ladies that work there and they always take care of my order, come around asking if I need anything else, and is just overall very friendly. There isn't a lot of seating inside, but I never really find trouble finding seating even at apex times. Even if I couldn't find seating, I would not mind ordering takeout from this restaurant. Definitely a great Pho place and I highly recommend you give it a shot. My whole family loves Pho, and so we ordered take out for my son's birthday. Upon arrival, our kids started chowing down on everything but stopped when we opened the beef Pho order and noticed it was 100% uncooked and blood had cross contaminated the rice noodles. We stopped eating all the food immediately. We called and were told that uncooked beef is the way they serve it in the broth when you dine there. The broth would not have been hot enough to cook anything. They almost offered to replace our Pho free of charge and then someone in the background of the phone call instructed that there wouldn't be a replacement because the order was made correctly. I did not want another order. Keep in mind, I've never been to Vietnam or wherever these cooks are from, so maybe this is the way that it is supposed to be served and every place I have ever gone to has just Americanized it for me. Pho 4 who? Pho 4 u! Overshadowed by the huge H‑E‑B plus, Pho 4U sits almost in the corner of this super convenient shopping plaza. I literally come here every week after getting groceries because eating out after spending 100 dollars on groceries hits different. The place is a small hole in the wall place with Vietnamese owners and staff. The food comes out super quick and is made with care. The pho has an amazing broth that has deep flavors of the spices and bones used to make it. My absolute favorite though is actually their Chicken Roti. It comes with fried rice, fresh greens with tomatoes and cucumbers, and two sizable pieces of chicken quarters. The chicken is crispy on the outside like a fried chicken but the inside is tender and juicy and has the fall off the bone texture that a roasted chicken has. They have a really good and authentic Vietnamese coffee as well as a REAL Thai tea that isn't made with powder from what I can tell. I've tried a few pho places around here but after coming here, the 6% Vietnamese in me has this as top spot for Viet food. read more

I hate to leave a bad review but the food was just not good. Pho brisket (1/5): the noodles were overcooked and soggy. The cut of brisket used isn't usually a cut I see in most vietnamese restaurants, it was thicker. The smell of the meat itself was off putting, a very gamey smell to it? The broth itself didn't taste clean and very little flavor to it. The herbs on the side were obviously not fresh and didn't look clean. The condiments jar on the side were sticky and gross. I stopped by here for dinner after shopping at HEB. They were quick with my takeout order and had a decent sized portion. I started eating before taking a photo of my order, so no food pic for now. Flavor-wise this place hit the mark! I ate their grilled pork vermicelli bowl & eggroll. It had great depth of flavor and not too salty. Since I did takeout, the meat sat on the noodles for a while and really soaked them with flavor. I almost didn't need the fish sauce that came with it. As someone who orders this at Vietnamese places a lot, I think they exceeded my expectations of typical San Antonio Asian food. I've been twice in the past couple of weeks and that was my last. The service was extremely slow and the food keeps going downhill. We waited 30 minutes to get a bowl of Pho, Pad Wun Sen and Shaken Beef when it was not busy. The prices are high and the taste/flavor doesn't match. I ordered the Pad Wun Sen and the shrimp was battered and fried before being added to noodles. The sauce was way too sweet and there was a lot of juice at the bottom of the dish like it was soup. The shaken beef was a disgrace to all Asian cuisine. I've never had Italian salad dressing added to a Vietnamese dish. I was confused and deeply saddened by this. The pho dac biet is pretty tasty here, not too happy when they are out of basil tho, which is a key ingredient for pho. been here almost a dozen times, the meat portions aren't consistent, sometimes they hook it up sometimes they are skimpy, wait staff use to be good but now seems like there's only one guy there that gets overwhelmed sometimes and the cashier lady has to step in, when I first started eating here there were 2 waitresses and they would hustle. Just moved to this area and this place is the closest Chinese restaurant to me. Ordered sesame chicken, spring rolls and cheese puffs. Overall disappointing. The sesame chicken was okay however I ordered fried rice and when I got to the restaurant the employee told me they were out and only had white rice. What? This is a Chinese restaurant right? How do you run out of fired rice? It's made from white rice. The chicken was overcooked and a little dry but was okay. The portion size was small. I can go to lees kitchen and get twice the food for 9.99. This plate was 12.99 and was so not worth it. It was more of a lunch portion. No egg roll included. The spring rolls where okay and I'm a huge spring roll fan so to so they are okay means they were not that great. Not crispy but more soggy at the ends. The filling was almost like a paste so I'm thinking they were undercooked. The cheese puffs were good. The flavor was good as well so would recommend those. Overall, I'm glad I tried because now I know what to expect. I think I'll drive the extra 15 minutes and go to Lees next time. Was hoping for better since this is the closest place to my house. Update...went back today and had the chicken pho, spring rolls and cheese puffs. Much better experience. The pho was good, not spectacular but good enough. Came here based on reviews. We ordered fresh spring rolls, pork vermicelli and VNSR, and chicken drunken noodles. Our kids shared a plate of sweet and sour chicken. The food wasn't amazing but it wasn't terrible either. We all agreed the food was super bland. The service wasn't great, either. Our waitress checked on us once (there were only two other tables occupied by one individual at each of those two, mind you), and we did have to wait around for quite some time to ask for the bill and a to go box. We couldn't ask our waitress bc she was nowhere to be found. The wait staff was doing exercises near the kitchen door. It wasn't busy at all and clearly they had a lot of time on their hands. While San Antonio excels at Hispanic cuisine and BBQ, the Asian arena needs a major overhaul! Finding a place that serves decent Asian cuisine is always a challenge, so when we find one that is not only decent, but borders on "outstanding," we were nearly giddy with happiness! Pho 4U fits that bill. We arrived shortly after the lunch rush, but several tables were still filled (always a good sign). We were given our choice of remaining seats, so we sat down and were given menus and asked if we wanted water (we did). Although many items looked amazing and will be tried on another visit, this was our first time and Pho' was on the radar. We'd already decided that since "Pho" was in the restaurant's name, we HAD to try theirs. When the waiter returned with our waters, we ordered Tofu Summer rolls to start, and I ordered the Tendon and brisket Pho'; my husband opted for the chicken Pho'. A few minutes later, our summer rolls were delivered. The soft rice paper was tightly wrapped around rice vermicelli, impeccably fresh mint, cilantro, carrots, and cucumber, and the largest, crispiest piece of tofu we'd ever had in a roll! To DIE for!! Hands down the best rolls either of us have ever had in a Vietnamese place, and that's saying a lot. We come from Las Vegas, where world class Asian cuisine is found in a huge Asian district and in all parts of town. A short time later our Pho' was delivered piping hot. It was accompanied by a plate of fresh bean sprouts, jalapeños, Thai basil, cilantro, and lime to add to our broth. My tendon was cooked flawlessly with the perfect amount of chew, and the thinly sliced brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The broth was highly seasoned without being overly so, and still allowed the beefy goodness to shine through. The rice noodles were cooked perfectly, and provided the perfect mouth feel you look for when consuming a broth-y meal. Unfortunately, my husband's chicken Pho' was good, but the chicken was slightly on the dry side, and his bowl appeared to contain beef broth instead of chicken broth. He decided against returning his order because it was just too darned good, although next time he may ask for dark meat chicken or tofu, instead. Pho 4U is definitely the best Vietnamese place we've tried in San Antonio, and we are looking forward to trying their other items. I also ordered P10 pho w brisket, meat ball and steak and probably won't order again only because I am aware that everyone makes pho differently based on their spice preference, for me I am not the biggest fan of a strong cinnamon taste. This had a medium taste type on the cinnamon. I've had other pho elsewhere where the cinnamon taste was pretty strong. Some of the worst "pad thai" I've ever had. Now, you're probably thinking, why get Thai food at a Vietnamese restaurant? Well, I didn't want pho and pad thai sounded good; It was quite a tell when the whole table of 6 of us food all came out within 10 minutes. The pad thai was really wet, like they had clearly just cooked the noodles then smothered it with sauce instead of cooking down the sauce and flavor into the noodles; Tasted like bottled sauce, sour and overly sweet with little vegetables in it. I can't believe I haven't tried this Vietnamese restaurant sooner! It is located in the same plaza as HEB, and I have been overlooking it up until now. On a whim, I decided to order takeout from here since I had GrubHub credit and this place had the lowest delivery fee. By some unfortunate circumstances, I received the wrong order, but the food was still amazing! I got to try their combo pho and spring rolls, and both were super delicious. The four spring rolls were crispy on the outside, with a generous amount of flavorful filling. They weren't greasy or soggy at all. The pho broth was rich, with a lot of meat/tripe. The noodles for the pho weren't over cooked and had the perfect chew and texture. Bean sprouts were fresh and crunchy, and there was an abundant amount of cilantro & Thai basil included as well. It even comes with packets of Lee Kum Kee hoisin sauce and sriracha! All the other Vietnamese places I've eaten from give you the disposable condiment cups full of hoisin/sriracha. The service is really good, the place has a mellow vibe. We were a little shy at first, this being our first time at Pho 4 U. We were greeted immediately. Were told that we could have a seat wherever we'd like. The server was friendly and patient. We did not wait too long for our food. The server brought out generous sized bowls of pho and servings of orange chicken. We noticed that our order of lumpia was taking a while, and asked about it.
