I haven't been to Pho 54 since I was a kid. But this was a second best to Pho 45 which closes at 9pm. At first I was skeptical, because Pho 45 has always been my #1. Food came out quick, even before my water. The broth was light and yummy! The only thing was the meat was a bit chewy compared to 45. I'll def come back to change things up!

OG spot for a bowl of pho ($14). Easy parking + efficient serving. Broth is flavorful and tastes nostalgic.

We started coming here a couple decades ago, and it was one of our go to pho spots when we lived in the area. I recently stopped by this place with my mother for a quick lunch. It was a Monday afternoon a little after the lunch hour. It was super slow with just a few tables occupied. The staff were attentive and pretty friendly for this type of restaurant. I most definitely appreciate that! Our combination pho noodle soup came out very quickly as anticipated. I recall that the flavor of the broth used to be very rich and had a lot of depth. However, the broth during this visit just was not the same as I remember back in the day. We were both starving and finished all of the contents in our soup, but had no desire to finish the broth. I'm not sure if we will be back.

Went with my family at lunch on Tuesday. There was only one other customer in there. It was dead and after our experience it's no longer a surprise as to why. We ordered three bowls of pho and some eggrolls for the kids. As we cut into the eggrolls the oil poured out of them into a puddle in the plate and there sat a plate of just sloppy grease filled rolls just swimming in oil. We told her we can't feed this to the kids the oil is just pouring out of it and her response was "well it is fried in oil, we're not returning it" Excuse you? First off I've had plenty of eggrolls at many pho spots. They are not filled and dripping in oil like that, EVER. Second, this place needs to step up their service and quality. Not to mention their broth was extremely bland. My husband used to come here back in the day and he said it has gone down tremendously. This restaurant was not the business. There are million times better pho joints out there that actually care about quality and service. Don't waste your time or money on this place.

Service was quick and simple. Place is nice and clean and plenty of space. We ordered 2 different pho bowls. The broth had a good flavor. Needed a nice soothing pho and this satisfied the craving enough. Not the best but would come back again. We also ordered the eggrolls and loved how it came with veggies as it was definitely a bonus. Would recommend to others. Also ordered a drink/dessert. Thought it was going to be jelly but it wasn't but it was still good. Definitely has a lot of meet compared to others in the area.

We were in Little Saigon and decided to try a pho spot we haven't tried before. They had their own shared parking lot with decent amount of parking on the weekend. The restaurant was busy, but still had a few empty tables during lunch time. We ordered a pho tai sach, vermicelli, and a rice plate with pork. Pho: the broth was very flavorful and delicious. I ordered a large to share with my 5 year old, and found portions good. Vermicelli: the egg roll was so flaky and crispy! Portion was good and the pork had a nice lemongrass flavor. Rice plate with pork, shredded pork, and egg loaf: we got a good amount of protein with the rice. The charbroiled beef was well seasoned and not dry. The food came very quickly, and service was friendly and helpful.

We came at around 9:30 p.m. looking for some warm soup on a chilly night. The restaurant was pretty empty, with only about 4-5 tables occupied. I ordered the large pho tai ($14) and an iced tea ($3). The pho satisfied my soup craving but it wasn't anything special. There was plenty of beef though it was on the dry side. Our table ordered two iced teas but they only brought one out. I even mentioned to the staff that they forgot the second one,yet they didn't bring it until the very end of our meal. When I asked for the check, I was told to pay at the counter. That's where the confusion started. There was a small crowd of people waiting for different things some waiting to be seated, some ordering to-go, and others like me waiting to pay. I ended up waiting almost 10 minutes just to check out. Definitely an authentic Vietnamese restaurant experience . Overall it's a decent spot if you want some late-night pho but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. There are much better pho options in Little Saigon.

Great place to stop by for a quick fix of delicious Pho! The soup was very flavorful and came with lots of meat! The noodles texture was made perfectly! I got the rice dish and it was good, but the Pho was definitely the best!! Very quick service. Clean restaurant. Would recommend this Pho spot!

This is my second visit to Pho-54 (which usually requires an extended lunch), and I had a slightly disappointing experience that might make me reconsider returning. The restaurant had an extension area, a converted outdoor patio to provide additional seatings. The area was lined with live plants (e.g., Jade Plants). The restaurant seems outdated but we're here for the food and not writing for AD-magazine. The owner/staff were nice and welcoming. Unless you speak Vietnamese, there was a light language barrier so pointing to the menu is preferred. We all ordered our usually pho or the vermicelli noodles, then another coworker and I decided to change it up and ordered rice places, instead of our usual and what a regret. The Pork Chop and Stir-fried Chicken rice plate. We asked the staff to add-on a fried egg on each plate. The noodles dishes were all perfect and great! The first shocker was my chicken plate was drenched in sauce and missing a fried egg. The correction was made with fried egg coming on separate plate on the side. It was so bad that I barely finish my meal. The pork chop was good but feedback from my coworker was the small portion does not measure up to the price-point.

Pho 54 is located about a block from Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley and are open until 12am midnight every day. We ordered the pho dac biet ($13) and the shrimp and pork spring rolls ($?). The pho broth was light and didn't have as strong of a flavor as other pho broths in the area. It tasted like it was made with chicken but I wasn't sure about that. I usually judge a place by its broth and while I normally finish all or most of it, this time I didn't care to drink more than I needed to. For the spring rolls, the pork was dry and just okay. Our total including tax was ~$27 so the rolls were about $10-12? Either we got ripped off or these were way overpriced for what they were. I probably should've asked but it also didn't help that we didn't get a receipt but instead just a total amount to pay. The good thing was that the food came out blazing fast in minutes but that was the end of it. They do take card but require a $20 minimum. Personally I think there are better places in the area.

Pho (almost) any time of the day! Had a craving hit at 8am and this place hit the spot! For the #1 special, broth was light and flavorful, plenty of veggie things were included and the meat was good. No complaints about this place and a good spot if you're craving pho.

Pro-tips: Super fast service if you're looking for a quick meal in a casual setting. They have chili oil if you ask for it. Highlights: Great value! I've never had so much protein in one bowl of pho before! Definitely feels like more meat than noodles. The che was good too, but not quite the style that I'm used to. Lowlights: They ran out of mint and basil leaves when we went, but they did give us extra bean sprouts when we asked for it. They also don't put out chili oil and other sauces that you might want so you do have to ask for it.

    Small special
    Amy L.

The broth was leaning towards an oxtail flavor and had a strong spice/star anise taste which I didn't fully enjoy. The ratio of noodle and meat was 1:1 which I liked.

Got the dry seafood noodles, beef stew noodles and deep fried dumplings. The dumplings were alright, it's basically deep fried wonton with pork and shrimp. My usual dry seafood noodles was scrumptious and side soup was packed with lots of seafood. I typically add a load of red vinegar to give a good tang. The beef stew was also really good and meat was tender except the tendon, there's 3 level of spicy however level 1 mild is still very spicy especially for people who don't usually eat spicy.

Mai Phat still exceeded them! It has since become our go-to lunch spot, as well as a local favorite for my wife's family. They specialize in egg noodles - served either dry (with broth and main protein on the side) or wet like a conventional soup bowl. My personal go-to is the dry mì sủi cảo - egg noodles with sliced / ground pork, huge wonton dumplings, a shrimp cracker, and broth on the side. The wontons come in a super rich and delicious sauce that I actually got scolded for pouring over my noodles lol. The light and clear broth is very refreshing and well-seasoned. Excellent mix of perfectly balanced flavors from every component. Add chili crisp for extra oomph. My wife loves the mì gà quay - fried chicken leg & thigh with the signature egg noodles. This is honestly one of the most perfectly seasoned and cooked fried chicken I've ever had, and I've had a LOT of fried chicken. Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive Highly recommend Mai Phat for hearty, expertly crafted, and relatively guilt free Vietnamese comfort food

This is a type of life where you eat and leave as quickly because it's a no-frills no ambience type of place. That's fine with me except it was pretty hot. They charge you a dollar for a little tiny paper cup of water. I ordered the number one since this is their specialty or what they're known for. My mom had the bun thit nuong cha gio. My noodle soup had a good amount of crab pieces and shrimp. It seemed like there was not a lot of noodles though. I thought the broth was a little bland. I guess I'm just not a big fan of this type of soup. If there is a next time, I'll try the bun rieu. My mother was not that crazy about her dish. She said she didn't really like the egg rolls that much. For the price, the wait and the taste of the food, I likely will not be returning when there are so many other places in the area. I try to support various mom and pop restaurants, but for the previous stated reasons, I don't think we'll be back.

Overall a decent place with many options for Vietnamese food, both big meal dishes and fun street food. Here what we tried: Ngheu Hap Thai (Thai Style Clams) - the clams were big and the broth is very flavorful! My mom really enjoyed it! Mi Vit Tiem (Duck Noodle Soup) - absolutely love the broth! So clean and herbal like! The noodle texture is interesting, as it is not your usual egg noodles. Not sure if I like it over the traditional egg noodles. Still a good dish! Banh Canh Tom Cua (Vietnamese Crab & Shrimp Udon) - there were so much crabs and shrimps in the bowl. The broth is good, just a little bland and needed to add some fish sauce. Mi Sui Cao (Wonton Dried Noodles) - love the wonton and the fried shrimp crunchy thing. The seasoning is really, but I don't think I like the noodles they used. Sup Cua (Vietnamese Crab Soup) - so much toppings in the soup! Love the century's egg!
