My favorite place to eat, EVER. Seriously people, out of all the Vietnamese restaurants, this place is far superb. Pho Tai: Usually when I order this, they give me a ton of sliced meat (delicious, duh,) and usually I put a lot of onions too! Seriously, really good when the weather outside is cold or if you're feeling sick (externally and internally too C: ) Fried crispy noodles: It's a vegetarian dish on request, but usually it's served with shrimp and meat. The sauce is delicious- savory, almost gravy like! The noodles get limp, but not mushy, and dude, it has baby corn and bamboo shoots. Goddamn, that's the best. Grilled meat and fish sauce noodles- Oh my goodness, It might seem like I'm being bias here- but it's the awesome! The meat is grilled and charred in a way that you can taste the smokey goodness of well- slightly burnt meat! The shrimp is superb, and with the eggrolls, it's a myriad of goodness. Rotisserie chicken with "red" Rice- The chicken has this seasoned crispy skin that's just perfect with the well made rice. Plus, the sunny side egg adds this creaminess that's just out of proportions good! As I compliment this place heavily- there is just one con- the drinks are a little small. Tasteless pho broth, pasty noodles and freezer burnt meat. Not only that, but they messed up my to-go order, asked for tendon pho (and clearly asked for tendon, asked multiple times to multiple people about all tendon pho) but was given brisket. The container they give you with the broth much to small to add your noodles and meat (which they leave in a styrofoam with black cilantro and green onions), and I highly recommend putting all of it in a GIANT bowl otherwise you'll spill and burn yourself. I also ordered a vietnamese iced coffee and it was the most bitter, thick, sweet and unappetizing drink I've ever had the displeasure of drinking. The only plus side is that their cubed beef and onions is decent. I'm pretty sure that this was the pho place we all showed up to after a terribly, but drunkalicious, night out at the Gas Lamp. I do remember staring at my menu seeing a 54 surrounded by a logo that looked suspiciously like the 99 cent ranch market logo. Anyway, we showed up at this place around 1AM. This is the only reason why I'm confused because the yelp time says it closes at 1AM. Maybe we kept them up? Aside from everything else, the drunkaliciousness really got to me and I just had to have something to eat. Something cheap. Something decent. Something warm and tingly. I ordered a #14 which was the rare steak and tendon. I regret even getting the tendon because I fished around it with my chopsticks, but let me tell ya, my drunken self really enjoyed this meal otherwise. Ah, delicious pho. The broth is a magical elixir that cures hangovers and colds alike. Pho 54 on Brookhurst is fast food done Vietnamese style. Don't expect much in terms of ambience besides (if you're lucky) watching a Vietnamese singing show on the flat screen. For pho novices, get the pho tai (pho with rare steak). The steak is sliced really thin and comes in your soup. Be sure to swish it around, that takes it from "rare" to "cooked" in 20 seconds. Be sure to add all the fixings, and enjoy. Also, don't scared of the extra large bowl. It's your friend. Pho 54 is all about the beef pho. I have been here a few times, and the food has always been really good especially the spring rolls and the rare steak pho! but this last time I came with my girlfriend was just so disturbingly uncomfortable! A table full of beaners were staring over at my girl and making us uncomfortable. Even trying to speak with us. We try ignoring them so we can enjoy our meal, so they start to talk Shit in Spanish. This is my regular pho joint I go to whenever I'm craving pho. I usually order their shrimp pho. They give a free small drink with your order. I remember if you get a drink though, they charge for water (weird). I tried ordering a water after I ordered a Thai milk tea and the man told me he would charge me. I always ask for a lot of limes and they usually have no problem giving me as much as I need which is important to me because I just love lots of limes with my pho. Prices are very fair here and they don't give you dinky portion sizes which I hate when I try another pho place and they give me barely anything for a $8 bowl. Customer service isn't great but it's not poor either. I remain neutral to it since I understand their Asian culture. Overall, it's a great place to eat and it's open late night which I love since there are not many places around my home that are open late. **** Edit: I went back again as usual and a lady who I had never been served by, started charging me $2 for 5 lime slices. They never had charged me in the three years I had been going there but this lady who had never served me before refused to acknowledge this and charged me. I asked to talk to someone else about this but another man who I had also never seen came over and tried to explain that that was a fair price because 2 lime slices are free, 4 limes would be $1, and 5-6 limes would be $2. Pho 54 has always been and will always be my go-to pho spot. I love, love, love this place. I used to frequent the one in Rosemead, but sadly, they closed. Now whenever I'm in Orange County I never miss an opportunity to get my pho on. There's 3 locations in Westminster alone. It's one reason I wish I lived near the area. They need to shut one Pho 54 down and reopen the one in Rosemead! For my sake. Geez! The Pho 54 broth is truly amazing. So hearty, but light at the same time. The recipe is perfect. Been coming here at least once a week for almost a year now. Very good pho, they remember my brother and I's drink and order. If you don't know Vietnamese, it's okay. The service is exceptional, but don't just sit there and wait for them to bring your check. I saw a guy about a month ago eating outside with his girlfriend or whatever, you guys didn't even pay you just walked out. Talk about a cheap date. Anyways, I get the #16 extra large (steak). Don't be alarmed if it looks a little or even really pink. The hot broth will actually cook it. And the guys who bring the bowls of pho out to the table, mad props. Came here after attending Big Bang's concert~ this place opens until 3am! Awesome sauce. The pho here is decent portion. Smaller than most places but the price is unbeatable. Regular size $5.75, xl is only $6.50! AS GOOD AS IT GETS. The broth was mediocre pho. You can tell that it wasn't cook to perfection of 8 hours with bones, but it's better than most places who doesn't cook with bones. I am giving this place 4 STARS for two reasons: 1. It is open until 3:00 am, which makes it convenient when everything else in Orange County seems to be closed. 2. The price is unbeatable for the quality and portions. I usually order the Pho Xe Lua (an extra large bowl of Pho with tendon, tripe, sirloin, and brisket) with the tai (sirloin) on the side. It really hits the spot. For $6.25, it's a great deal, plus it comes with a FREE drink of your choice. The drink is small, but you can fill up on unlimited water after you've finished your soda (or whatever else you decide to get). I recommend the "rua ma." Its a green drink made out of pennyworth that's slightly sweetened with sugar. Or the "soda chanh," which is a homemade lemonade made of lemons, sugar, and carbonated water. You'll usually find a bunch of college students here anytime after 11:00 pm. It's a great place to eat for cheap during finals! read more

With neon lights and a retro feel, you walk in thinking it's a Vietnamese Denny's. And it is in that it's open until 3AM and the booths retain a stickiness from constant use. It's also similar to Denny's in that the food is just average. They have this catchy deal in which you get a free drink from a list of about 15 or so drinks. You DONT get water though..which seems a bit odd. Pho was decent enough, although I could think of many other places that serve better. We came in around 3-4pm on a weekday and it wasn't busy. The guy asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We chose to eat outside because it was a beautiful day. My friend and I order the pho tai and the order comes out right away. At first look, it doesn't look like authentic pho at all! More like chicken broth and noodles. Don't get me wrong, it tastes good! But if you want REAL VIETNAMESE pho, this is NOT the place. You do get a lot of noodles and soup for a large, and a free drink though. These guys have been around for a while and I've been eating at this place for over ten years. I still come here for their absolutely delicious Pho that they have here. My friends tell me to look for two things in an authentic Vietnamese restaurant: 1) Cash only and 2) More than one Pho selection on the menu. Whether or not this makes any difference to you, Pho 54 qualifies for both characteristics. As I mentioned above, they do have a very extensive menu of pho choices. So if you're not feeling a certain kind of meat on that day, you should still find something to your liking. I usually get the following: 1) #1 Beef Pho: Rare Beef, Beef Tendon, Beef Brisket, sliced onions, and soup stock. Optional: I add Beef Balls to my noodles for that extra texture and flavor. 2) Spring Roll: They make great spring rolls. I love their peanut sauce that comes with this dish. A must have if you have more room for appetizer. The best part about the Pho is their soup stock. They have been consistent in delivering the taste and flavor of the soup. Definitely savory and delicious. Once the soup enters my mouth, it becomes a soup vacuum machine, leaving no soup behind. The noodle also adds a nice and tender texture to everything else. Remember to add some Siracha and Hoisin sauce to your soup. It gives the dish an extra kick. Squeeze some lemon, add some basil and bean sprouts and you got yourself something that is absolutely irresistible. With the pho only costing you under 7 dollars, you're in for a well worth it ride. They would have gotten a 5/5 stars if the waiter had been slightly more attentive. Otherwise, this is an awesome place for Pho! read more

All of the staff speak and understand English, not to mention they are very quick to seat you and take your order. Just had the rotisserie chicken today and it was great. I miss the old menu. As you can see from the other reviews they no longer provide free drinks and their meat portions are smaller for their pho. They do run free drink promotions on certain days. Their pho broth remains unchanged, still flavorful and deep. Their broken rice dishes are still a pretty good deal. You get a good size pork chop for their bbq pork special. Also, they cook the meat dishes are made to order so it takes a while for the food to come out, but it's good to know it's not just sitting there. On the first page of the menu, everything can be ordered in 3 sizes: regular, large, and extra large. The extra large, being $6.50, is the best value anywhere. that price can't even score you a small bowl in Irvine, and get this.....you get a drink for free with any entree. I've been here for countless time and always sit at the same table, and honestly I think my butt print is permanently moulded into the seat cushion. They also have large screen TVs that plays Lakers / Clippers at times. Staff are great. Some language barrier, but that does not equal to bad service. Speak slow and make sure they understand, that's the key. Don't try to get too fancy when ordering (like, I don't want this, and want that instead, and get this on the side instead). I ordered veggies spring rolls, they were 4 rolls for an order. The rolls were horrible, they have rice noodles, few leaves of mints and ONLY ONE STRIP OF TOFU which is the side of women pinky. I asked my son how much he think the restaurant charges? My son thought would be $6 because it is restaurant. Base on the taste, the ingredients and the presentation I think these rolls were not worth even 50 cents each. My son and I were shocked they charges $9.50 when we paid the bill.
