Wife and I were in the north Sacramento area visiting the widow of my favorite ROTC instructors who had died in Vietnam. She is well into her 80s and liked Vietnamese food. She had a favorite in her neighborhood, but it was closed, so we went to Pho ABC. A great choice. The menu was chock full of Vietnamese and Chinese soups, stir fries, appetizers and main dishes. Wonderful, yet confusing options. Needed help. Along came our wait person, who is of Mexican descent. I smiled asking him how he knew so much about this food. His answer? He is married to one of the owner's daughters and practically is living in the restaurant. He really knew his stuff. Too bad that I cannot remember his name...sorry! He guided us through the various options and we all ordered some form of their specialty: beef broth soup. Huge bowls, very hot and loaded with beef and vegetables. Yummy. A side plate had bean sprouts, jalapeno peppers and fresh basil which you add to the broth. Really good and we were stuffed. We drank hot tea which kept coming along with many checks on "how we were doing." Restaurant is clean, parking is in front in their own lot and lots of Asians are eating there...a good sign. I've seen many posts and have heard a lot about this pho spot in north sac. We'll probably because there's not much to choose from. None that are worth mentioning anyway, that I've tried. However, Pho ABC has changed that. My brother was in town and we wanted to have dinner with my dad and grandma. I remember I had Pho ABC bookmarked and no one wanted to drive to south sac where all the good spots are. So I'm like hey let's go try this place I've heard good things about. I'm glad we came and tried it. We ordered pho, spring rolls, calamari, fried rice, chicken wings, and pork chop over rice. I don't think there was 1 dish that we did not like. Everything had a lot of flavor and it was delicious. My grandma really loved their fried rice. Recently I stopped by to get wonton soup for my grandma. I took a sip and it was honestly one of the best wonton soups I've tried. It had so much flavor, similar to their pho broth. It may even be the same broth. Either way, it was delicious and my grandma loved it. This will be my go to spot in the North whenever I'm craving Vietnamese food. If you're looking for a pho/Vietnamese spot, this place is it. As Citrus Heights in general doesn't offer a wide variety of Vietnamese restaurants, it was a very pleasant surprise for "PHO ABC" to open back in June 2016. Now what may intrigue a lot of people is that I am not a big fan of Phó. I am more into eating Vermicelli Bowls, Rice Bowls, and my personal favorite, Bánh mì sandwiches. Which took me on my very first visit to this place just to see if their food is as good as the main competition which is in South Sacramento. I came here on the afternoon of Sunday 9/10/17 around 12:30pm to specifically order a Bánh mì. To expedite this, I phoned in my order 15 minutes prior to arrival; they had then mentioned that my sandwich would be ready in 10 minutes. When I arrived, it was fairly busy with several customers dining in for lunch. I must say, this restaurant is clean to a tee! The entire layout was spacious, inviting, and well-lit. And it definitely was a nice surprise from the old Waffle Square location that was here before. The parking lot is also very spacious as it shares it with neighbors "Taqueria Tres Hermanos", "Harbor Freight", and "Mattress Firm" among other various businesses. The outdoor signage is very noticeable from busy Greenback Lane both during day and night. There is also even a sign to entice people to come in saying "order Phó and have it in 3 minutes between 11am-2pm". As far as the sandwich I ordered, it was none other than their "Grilled Pork Bánh mì" sandwich (for $5.50). When I took the sandwich home and unwrapped it from the paper that was holding it together, this thing was a very sizable portion! The baguette that was used was very crisp and fresh while they did not skimp on the carrots, cilantro, daikon, vinegar, and mayonnaise. Best of all, the grilled pork was seasoned very well and tender. However, it was a little bit too sweet and salty for my standards. Not that is a bad thing but when something is too heavily seasoned, it can be a little overkill. It can be challenging to give PHO ABC an honest review since I called in and ordered it ahead of time. But from the service, accuracy and timeliness of my order, quality of food that I received, and overall price, I can definitely tell this place strives to help each and every customer. They do have a huge Phó menu as well as chicken/duck, pork, beef, seafood, and vegetarian. There are also a nice variety of smoothies and Boba drinks. Their business hours are very respectable being open Sun-Thurs from 10am-8:30pm and Fri-Sat from 10am-9:30pm. And finally, they also have another location on East Bidwell St. in Folsom. My rating for "PHO ABC", a solid four stars. read more

Haven't had Pho in a while, was getting off work pretty late and was worried that I would not make it before they close. Came in 20 minutes before closing, the server was amazing and quick, within minutes my food was on the table and tasted better than ever. I tried to finish it as fast as possible, even though I stayed for a few extra minutes after closing, I was still treated so good and none of the servers were rushing me. GREAT PLACE AND GREAT FOOD! Today we spent over $130 on food. They gave it to us in a box that was drenching juices from the many entres we ordered. Our car was drenched and when my husband got the box out it dripped all over his new pants. It said the orders came with 2pcs thus why I ordered two. My honey ordered the 81 which is Beef Broccoli with fried rice. When my order came out the spring rolls were giant and were actually 4pcs I was only able to eat one of my orders. The shrimp spring roll is so fresh and really tasty, I opted for the fish sauce in place of peanut sauce and that fish sauce has a nice little kick to it. I ended up giving my other order to my daughter for a after school snack. My honey's Beef Broccoli rice plate was also huge, I took a few bites and it's delicious! I will be ordering the that next time. Oh yeah, when we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. It look no time to order and the wait staff is really friendly and made sure to stay on top of our refills. Before we left we ended up ordering Mango smoothies with Rainbow jelly. We get our smoothies and it was so good. They used fresh mangos for the smoothies and it didn't need and toppings to it. Their rare steak pho and their chicken pho are warming and restoring, and their shrimp spring rolls, complete with peanut dipping sauce, are my go-to.
