Recently, I went here for dinner and ordered the chicken pad thai and chicken satay. The pad thai was good but the chicken had the freezer smell to it. The chicken satay was very disappointing. There were 4 large skewers but they were really salty and chewy. It was not what I expected.

    Orange Chicken (requested extra sauce)

This was the third time we have ordered delivery from Pho and Thai in the last year, and the last. We were trying to support small local restaurants during the pandemic, and try a few new ones. We gave them a few chances, hoping that the next time would be better. Everything is extremely dry and flavorless. They put no sauce or seasoning on anything. This time I specifically requested extra sauce on everything, but we still didn't get any. We got Steamed Pork Dumplings, which are the smallest dumplings I have ever seen. The sauce cup is even smaller, so you can't actually dip the dumplings. They are very dry and pasty, with not much flavor. We got Chicken Pad Thai, a dish that we have had at many other restaurants. There are literally only 4 ingredients in their Chicken Pad Thai: chicken, noodles, and a little scrambled egg, topped with some chopped peanuts. No vegetables, sauce or seasonings. The noodles are pasty in a similar way to the dumplings. You can tell in the photo, it's not the color you usually find in Pad Thai because there's no sauce. This time I ordered a side of peanut sauce (anticipating that it might be dry again), but they charge extra for that, like it's a side. I also asked for extra peanuts this time because there were very few the first two times I ordered it. The third dish we ordered was Orange Chicken, which we had not ordered before. It looked very appealing in the photo on their website menu. It was nothing like the photo. This dish had zero sauce on it. They did give us a side of some kind of watery sauce that tasted like it was supposed to be orangey. This dish was a dry, plain, fried chicken patty sliced up, with some undercooked veggies (mostly broccoli, with some shredded carrots and baby corn). There was a small box of white rice that came with it, but we didn't even open that. We live one mile from this restaurant and the delivery has taken more than 45 minutes each time we've ordered. We usually order between 7 and 8 pm, so I wouldn't think they'd be that busy. I hate to leave terrible reviews, but this is the third strike out and the first review I've left for them.

Looks like Pho & Thai have been reading their reviews. I, sort of, have become a regular here for lunch and can honestly say they have made some adjustments. The thai basil has consistently arrived at the table fresh and green, not wimpy/brown as previously mentioned. Their rare eyeround has improved as well. It has stopped arriving at the table well done but instead is actually rare the way it's suppose to be. And even the texture/thickness of the slices of the eyeround have gotten better, it's not as thick and chewy as it used to be. The duck noodle soup is still fabulous and my favorite. Thank you Pho & Thai for paying attention and making the small changes, cause they do make a significant difference. For that, you've bumped yourself up to 4 stars.

Pho and Thai is still our number 1 take-out restaurant in the area. Firstly, because it's two blocks away from our house, and secondly, because the food is consistently good. We still love the Tom Yum noodle soup, but also the fresh spring rolls with shrimp, chicken satay, pad thai, drunken noodles with beef or tofu and Thai fried rice. I've eaten at the restaurant once, but we get take-out 2-3 times a month. They recognize us when we call to order. :)

I got Tom Ka soup and onion pancakes for lunch carryout. Both way overpriced and not good. I was disappointed.

Unfortunately, the pad Thai my wife and I ordered was underwhelming. The noodles were clumped together and everything tasted rather bland.

The Pla Pad Kun Chai which is a fried cod fillet, with a mix of root spices and Chinese celery, had some complex flavors that didn't pan out - the fish itself was breaded in a batter that was perhaps a bit too MSG-laden, and not enough distinctive a flavor to justify its saltiness; and the Chinese celery was really tough, which didn't make for a good bite of texture. The green onions were too crispy relative to the other alliums. The Kao Soi Brisket had some decent beef pieces, but then some of the other pieces were way tough. The soup (or is it a sauce?) was way thick, and overall the dish was overly salted. There also needs to be more noodle, and more mustard green overall. The curry puff was a good idea, but the puff itself was rather dry, and not particularly well integrated with the chicken, potatoes, and alliums. The stuffing might also have been underseasoned. In general the dishes demonstrate expert preparation, but the concepts need reworking. The new environment (across the street from the former location) is a tad loud when populated with many diners, though visually it's a pleasant place to dine. The servers were attentive and respectful.

Fish cakes were small and perfectly uniform - almost like they were frozen rather than prepared on site. Green curry had some spice but was mostly one note, there just wasn't much depth of flavor. Vegetables were all cut in huge hunks - both dishes had giant pieces of red bell peppers and onions. Fried rice was pretty bland and barely had any Chinese broccoli in it. Ambiance was bare bones - you order at the counter and they bring you your food and plastic side plates. Half the tables were stacked with boxes and bags of takeout orders. To top it off there's no bathroom, we were told to use the bathroom at another local business. If I'm gonna spend $60 somewhere, I expect to be able to wash my hands before eating and use the restroom. Perhaps there are some specialty dishes that we didn't try but this was my 2nd time ordering from here (I got take out once before) and both times the food was pretty bland. A truly underwhelming experience - especially when there are so many better restaurants in the area.

For $17.95, getting 3 rolls of sushi isn't a bad deal, so I'm giving this a 4/5. The combo comes with a spicy tuna roll, a california roll, and a salmon avocado roll. Spicy Tuna Roll: This was pretty disappointing. I really love spicy tuna rolls that have the minced tuna, spicy mayo, and tempura flakes all mixed together, but this was not that. This roll was a tuna cucumber roll with spicy mayo drizzled on top. With that, the spicy mayo was really overpowering and I couldn't taste the tuna at all. I'd prefer the normal tempura and mayo taste or just a tuna and cucumber, but doing it this way wasn't my favorite. California Roll: This was not bad - the imitation crab was big and plump and there was fish roe inside of the roll instead of on the outside which made it have a better texture in my opinion. The avocado was fresh and these bites were pretty enjoyable. Salmon Avocado Roll - This was the best roll of the 3 - the salmon tasted good and the avocado was fresh again. TAKEOUT review * My…read moredaughter's friend recommended this place. Easy to order online. Keep in mind they are tapas so the quantity is smaller than an entree. There were 6 of us and we ordered 6 things, and fortunately we weren't ravenously hungry because otherwise we might've needed at least 3 more. We ordered mushroom salad, pad paa (a scrumptious concoction of veggies in sauce that comes with jasmine rice), crab fried rice, roasted brussel sprouts, grilled pork cheek, chicken ka praw. The order was ready for pickup within 30 minutes (which is what it predicted online). The food was freshly made, hot, ready to go at 8 p.m. and the staff were friendly and helpful. It looked like the customers there were having a fun time. We all really enjoyed every bite, particularly the pad paa with jasmine rice. It ended up being enough food for us as well.

The fried chicken skin was a standout. The crispy skin paired perfectly with a cold beer. The Pad Thai was also delicious, the Brussels sprouts were wonderfully crispy with a simple but flavorful seasoning, and the beef Massaman curry was rich and comforting--I'd definitely recommend ordering a bowl of rice to go with it. The pork cheek was incredibly tender and very filling. Not every dish was a hit, though. The crab fried rice was a bit disappointing. It was essentially regular fried rice with just a few pieces of crab sprinkled on top, so it didn't feel worth ordering. The crab curry was also a letdown. If you do order it, I'd recommend having it with rice instead of the rice noodles, as I think that would make it more enjoyable. Overall, the quality of the food and the excellent service made for a very enjoyable meal, and I'd happily come back to try more dishes.
