Honestly, Pho Ba Co was very underwhelming. As a student at UCI, I know that Pho Ba Co and Sup Noodle Bar are the most popular places to get pho. Considering that I am from Garden Grove/Westminster area, I am very spoiled with delicious Pho from Pho 79, PhoHolic, etc. When I'm at school though, I'll settle for whatever is the best nearby. Food Consensus: The pho was here was just okay. It was not the best and it was definitely not the worst spot I've ever tasted but I found the pho to be quite bland. I didn't like the broth because I felt that there wasn't enough flavor. The meat was tough and the noodles were firm. Service: Service was also just okay. It was kinda slow considering how we my friend and I were one of the only parties there. The inside looks like your typical pho restaurant. Personally if I were in the Irvine area, I would stick to Sup Noodle Bar. The prices are about the same and the pho is a lot better there. read more

We moved to Irvine in 1993. Years after, we found a Vietnamese restaurant in Barranca Pkwy. We went to try for the first time their Pho (soup) which came in various flavors. They were delicious and the vegetables with it, were fresh. From then on, we always come here everytime we crave for soup dish. This is the only Pho Restaurant that survived, even pandemic times. The servers are very friendly and punctual. A few of them we already know and are loyal working there. This place is always busy because customers keep on coming back. Looking for a new pho place and found Pho Ba Co on Yelp. We came during a weekday lunch and it wasn't too busy. The have two sizes for their pho for dine in - regular $15.95 and large $17.50. I couldn't decide between the rare steak or brisket, so I opted for getting rare steak and brisket. It came out pretty quickly, with a platter of bean sprouts, Thai basil, cilantro, jalapeño and lime. Hoisin and sriracha bottles were already on the table. It was a solid bowl of pho, with plenty of meat and noodles. My daughter had only eaten pho at her dorm and said this was much better. Will definitely keep Pho Ba Co on my list for pho and try some of the other items on their menu as well! Parking in the lot. read more

Spaghetti with basil and shrimp? It was great and that's something new for us ordering at a Veitnamese restaurant. Call me weird but they actually had egg noodles for Pho. I had my rare steak and fish ball and ordered a side of meatballs. The spaghetti dish was sweet with a lot of flavor and 10 pieces of shrimp. Spaghetti review for the curious: It has a tomato-y sauce that has a bit of tang and sweetness that's kinda reminiscent of ketchup. Plenty of ground beef added in, and the diced onions are cooked to be tender yet slightly crunchy. The basil comes through quite well, but it's not overwhelming. It makes an otherwise mundane pasta dish stand out a bit more, and I quite liked the flavor. In a way though, it's reminiscent of something I could easily slap together at home, so the relatively high price is really reflected in the portion size, which is fairly large. If you're not much of a big back, I'd recommend sharing or planning to take leftovers to go. Ultimately, I think it's still worth getting if you're curious or hungry or not craving any of the more typical offerings, but it's more or less probably what you're thinking it is. read more

Walked in and was immediately greeted by the workers who were in the middle of their meal, and that's how I knew my pho was going to be good. Pho ba Co is one of my favorite restaurants in Irvine. I've been coming here for more than 20 years. I still remember the melamine boat that the combos used to come in. Some of our favorites are spaghetti basil (a sweet viet-Italian fusion take on spaghetti bolognese), pho tai, com tam, and the tri color drink. The service is extremely fast and courteous. DoorDashed Thai Tea, Pho Rare steak, brisket, & meatball, and Pho Rare steak, brisket, & tripe and all were delicious! However, we ordered large for both and were disappointed to see that, while they gave us a lot of noodles, they didn't give enough broth. I'd say that they gave about a regular-sized portion of the broth, while they doubled the noodles. The best part of pho is the broth, so we were hoping to have more to sip on. One time we sat outside, no one served us, when we asked, the man was very rude and said we should came to him to order, we just left without dining here after being treated like this. Been coming here for the past 7 years, but it's gone downhill. Used to be 5 stars, but recently it's been a 1 star. For $36 for 2 bowls of pho, the portion size is ridiculously small.
