Had some problems but the management compensated me. Spring rolls and vermicelli noodles, my friend's order, were good and arrived quickly (~5 minutes). However, I ordered SnP wings and a bahn mi at 1118 and received my order at 1150. Other people who ordered after me received their food, including bahn mi, so I know it wasn't that. The 11 people who came in after I arrived ordered and all received their food while I waited, and the server blew me off when I inquired after 20 minutes if my food was coming, saying that "your food is coming". After asking a second time about my food, they told me they had a printer issue in the back back and the kitchen didn't receive my order. I don't know why I got such a curt response the first time I asked and a polite explanation the second time I asked? Oh well. When my food came they apologized, said the meal was free and gave me a 15% off coupon signed by the manager for my next visit. My bahn mi was excellent, but the wings were an ordeal and lacking in flavor. They tasted like they were cooked from frozen. I feel better about returning to this now that they compensated me. Love this place. A little hard to find as the restaurant as it is not actually on national Ave. but rather on Newton Ave. it is on the south side of the huge building on National. Once we found it, it was immaculate, upscale, good attentive service, and authentic Vietnamese food! It was delicious and we will certainly return and bring friends. Family and I was in town for the weekend and wanted some pho. This was the closest one near our hotel. Restaurant had a very nice and cool look, it was refreshing and welcoming. Tables were spaced out a good distances so eating and socializing was comfortable. This place WAS always my backup & now it's not. Not because their produce & overall food in general isn't the freshest & even though that's true, its because, whoever the server/host was today got pissed off at a 4 year old boy, my son. This server asked," Did you get everything you ordered?" We all said "yes, thanks" & he just turns. I asked "can we get some more napkins please?" And my son who is learning to be more independent asks, "Can I get some water?". He comes back & says, "don't spill it." & drops off the napkins. Mama bear in me responded real fast, "ohhh, we won't." It's time to pay, we split the check (OH NO, ITS THE END OF THE WORLD) & he gives my friend attitude. Why? We were the nicest table to this person, Bc we were aware the stress he was under, with his colleagues unaware of where the food needed to go. We don't know why he was mad at us. Then it was my turn to go up there. He was talking bad about my friend, pointing at her and he was also unaware I could understand him. It's possible the man next to him noticed my reaction of "wow dude really?". That the rude server finally paid attention to me. Gave me my total & He gave my kid two lollipops. I gave him a tip of $2, which should have been zero. The first dollar was for sitting us down, the 2nd was for bringing us the food. As someone who manages a department it clearly looks like the staff needs training in customer service, ya'll need more staff and if you're unhappy with where you work, know you are your own solution to make yourself happy and leave. Don't make total strangers experience your bad vibes, the world has plenty of that. To say my friend was with me and felt negative energy from not only the server but from the 2 guys and girl dropping the F bomb, yet staring at my kid who was playing with chopsticks. Any movement and they stared. Anyway, we were all kids once & if these people felt that way, they should ask their parents the pains they use to be. There are many pho shops close by where I live but I was in the area and decided to come to this one. Now I would make the extra 20 minute drive to here! The broth for their pho is amazing, their salt and pepper wings were ridiculously good, and the calamari was amazing. My boyfriend got the rice plate with chicken, and he said it was very good! Got the craving for a bowl and ended up at this joint after work yesterday as this was the easiest to get to. The place was very clean and pleasant to be in. Washed my hands in a very tidy ladies' restroom, and I was happy about that. However, the minute I opened the menu and searched for #1 ..... That soup didn't have tripe!!! What Pho doesn't have tripe?!?!?! That #1 only came in an extra large size, which I clearly can not finish. The waitress said I could just order it and take the rest home.. Really? I told her I don't like leftover soup. The other soup choices only had 1 type of meat(what I saw anyway).. I contemplated leaving this place to go to another, but I didn't want to get stuck in traffic. I ended up ordering #2 with just the rare steak!! ugh.. And all the while, I was thinking, "this was a bad mistake.. And I am going to regret staying". The waitress also told me how the owners are Vietnamese and that they know what they're doing.. I tole her, I know my soups and that I was still upset there is no tripe on the menu! When the soup finally was served, I was delightfully surprised the soup base/broth tasted phenomenal!! Wow!! The best I've ever tasted!!! But you know what would make it better? TRIPE!! Then I came to think "Is this joint made to cater to Caucasians who don't want nothing to do with Tripe?" Whatever the reason is...... Please get tripe in the soup!! You will only get more customers if you do!!! Give this place a try ASAP! First, the place is really clean. You have to admit, that can be tough to find at other pho places. No greasy grime on the condiments that leave your fingers sticky. Yes! Second, the portions are very generous both with the meat (shrimp for me) and the noodles. The shrimp were not just plentiful but they weren't those puny sad salad ones. They were BBQd well for the vermicelli and cooked just right for the pho. Let me tell you about the pho broth. Perfect. Clean and flavorful. Not oily and old. The basil, jalapeño, sprouts were fresh, fresh. We also ordered the shrimp spring rolls. These were also very fresh and just right with a perfect hint of basil. My son also ordered a mango smoothie with boba that he liked very much. The service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is modern but not cold.
