I was craving for a good bowl of pho, so I decided to hit up this joint since it was close by. That being said I ordered a large bowl of pho tai bo vien. It came with what I would consider a small portion of noodles for a small bowl, two slices of beef that were 1 inch square. And half a meatball that was sliced into four pieces of meat. Pho Duy does one half of the pho equation right: they have a nice seasoned flavor in their clear broth, not watery at all. It's not as beefy as others I've tried, but it has a good taste. I felt what was missing from the equation was the fragance; a good bowl of pho has that beefy rich smell intermingled with a whiff of mysterious spices--anise, cinnamon, clove, cardamom. If these were there, they were subtle enough to be missed, not strong. I like to hover over my bowl of pho and take in the sight and smells before digging in. I was pleased to see that Pho Duy didn't cave to the pressure of offering only gringo-friendly (Americanized) pho dishes. My favorites of tripe and tendon were available along with the standard cuts of round, flank, brisket and meatballs. Other protein options like chicken and shrimp are also available in pho. Presentation-wise, I liked that their regular bowl of pho arrived atop a plate with the right amount of garnishes: fresh sprouts, mint and sliced peppers. No complaints about their rice noodles either, but I wouldn't go so far as saying they were any different from other places either. Like other pho restaurants, Pho Duy's menu also includes vermicelli dishes, bahn mi, stir fried and rice dishes. Now I did take notice of the lack of a chargrilled aroma emanating from the kitchen. One of our tablemates lamented over a good grilled pork--I would too, since I like a nicely charred protein with my noodles. Pho Duy's pork looked more stirfried than grilled. And maybe that is one of their strengths: my man felt their stir-fried beef and veggies was executed well. What I was really fond of on the Pho Duy menu were the chicken and avocado spring rolls, thoughtfully quartered, paired with peanut sauce. The creaminess of the avocado joined by grilled chicken and dipped in sauce was a light and refreshing snacketizer. I imagine ordering two plates of these would have made a satisfying and healthy lunch. We also tried the shrimp spring rolls, but it was just okay. Next time, I will try D's special rolls: beef and shrimp spring rolls. Pho Duy doesn't seem to offer the shaved ice drinks that I see at other Vietnamese places, but they have jumped onto the boba tea bandwagon. Their avocado boba smoothie was made from fresh avocadoes, and I detected that light syrupy taste that accompanies house-made tapioca. My friends seemed pleased with their boba green tea and mango smoothies. Pho Duy is a good choice for a light healthy lunch or dinner if you're in the area. They have special pricing on their regular bowls of pho on Tuesdays, so you get more bang for your buck. I'd visit again. read more

I'm so glad that there is a new Pho joint in the MidCities! No more having to hike to A-town or Haltom...and its much better than Pho V Noodle House in my honest opinion. I like that they have a 4.95 special on Tuesdays all day for a regular bowl of Pho. Lavender Boba is a must try if you love lavender scented things. I enjoy the tofu lettuce wraps. I stumbled upon this spot when I was in the mood for noodles and my manager was kind enough to treat me to lunch. I had the stir fry combination noodles which i enjoyed. I've eaten here twice. The first time, I wasn't in the mood for soup (so why did I go to a Pho place??) and ordered the Chicken Bahn Mi and the Traditional Spring Rolls. Both were just OK. The bread on the sandwich was very good and the chicken was fine, but the toppings for the sandwich were sorely lacking - there were hardly any on my sandwich (if you look at the pictures on their web site of the sandwiches, mine looked nothing like that). Had there been more cuke, daikon, carrot, cilantro, etc., it would have been very good. And while the spring rolls were very fresh, I'm pretty sure the menu I looked at in the restaurant mentioned something about herbs (like mint, maybe?). Not there, or if it was it was a miniscule amount. I like a pronounced herb presence in my spring rolls, so maybe next time I'll ask for extra. They would be excellent with more. On my second visit, I tried the Pho. I didn't realize that on Tuesdays they have a special on all the regular sized Phos for $4.95, which is quite a deal. But unfortunately, I have to agree with Travis C that the broth is very light and doesn't have that beefy/anise-y flavor that I think Pho broth should have. I guess like anything else there are variations, but I prefer a flavorful broth. To me, that's what Pho is about. I had the P1 D's Special with all the weird meats, and that part was fine. There just wasn't enough flavor in my bowl (even after adding the basil, lime and Sriracha - too bad). I also tried the spring rolls again - this time the pork. Still no herbs ;-( Service was prompt, efficient, and friendly. No problem there. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated and very is pleasant and clean. Had a house special Pho and it was fine. Had the large and besides noodles, not much in it. Asked for tripe to be substituted with extra tendon and I got maybe 2 small pieces, but they were tasty. The veggies were also about half what I feel is a standard portion. Well, portions in general are a bit smaller than what I am used to, I actually finished the contents that I poured maybe a bit too much sriracha into. I was about to give up downing all the sodium infused broth but the song "the final countdown@ literally kicked on in all its 80's glory inspiring me to just go ahead and deal with the bloating later. Just about the time I was debating whether I would come back, my beautiful waitress came by with genuine concern that I enjoyed my meal. I mean...there was NO taste to it. I looked at my sister disappointingly and after tasting hers she agreed it's just not good Pho and had to reassure me that Pho is good just not at this location. I literally had two or three sips/bites and left the rest. The staff was literally EH. Read reviews thought we will give this place a try since I was wanting Vietnamese food. The restaurant itself is very clean. There was only one other couple in there so everything came out pretty quickly. We got the chicken avocado spring roll to start with. Chicken was very thin and dry. And the peanut sauce was really runny. For the main dish we got the grilled pork rice dish and the regular size bowl of chicken pho with meat balls. Portions came out really small. The chicken pho could've been a kids size at all the other places I been. I literally had 4 thin dry slices of chicken in my bowl and the meatballs that I had to pay extra for was basically one meat ball cut into fours. Broth tasted water down. I had to add a lot of seasoning and sauce and it still tasted blah. The grilled pork was the only thing that tasted good. Flavored well. The sauce that came with it was very sweet. Hello where the Pho have this location been??? We came in wanting some good Pho. Our waiters were very attentive and suggested items off the menu. We started off with Prawn Rolls. Oh my, these rolls were good. The prawns were really fresh. When I took my first bite, was filled with yummy prawn and cream cheese which gave the rolls a really good flavor. I ordered a regular Pho Ga (chicken pho) and it was out steaming hot. I was preparing it and had to wait a few minutes as it was really hot. The broth of the Pho was really good. It was very flavorful and one of the best I've had. The chicken was really good too. I usually end up not liking the chicken and always substituting it with grilled chicken. I did not do that this time and was quite surprised as it wasn't rubbery or dry. The hubs ordered the Beef Vermicelli with extra pork. His meal was really good. The beef was seasoned really well. We ordered a side of egg rolls to go with our meals. The eggrolls were really good. It was filled with veggies and pork. We also tried their Coffee it which was good. It's not sweet, so don't be surprise when you take your first sip. I can't wait to come back here and try the Banh Mi here. read more

Mystery solved. I was puzzled by a number of reviews citing tasteless pho, when we have had so many good bowls there. I regularly stop in after work and pick up pho to enjoy at home, and it has been delicious...until last week. Sure enough, the broth was thin and flavorless, just as some other reviewers stated. I'm not sure whether the broth is sometimes made by a different cook or exactly what, but it seems you CAN get a bad batch here and there. I love a good pho restaurant. I hadn't had pho in awhile, so I was excited to try this one. Walking in, it was easy to see that the owner took pride in his restaurant. The decor was tastefully done and relaxing. The place was clean and comfortable. I thought the booths's tables were pretty cool-kind of a granite/marble thing going on We were seated promptly and our waiter was very friendly and attentive. He had good recommendations for things to try, and described various menu items very well. We started with a nice jasmine milk boba, but also were given the golden tea to taste. Both were excellent! My daughter had a watermelon smoothie that she loved. Vietnamese restaurants are typically difficult to feed kids at, but they actually had a kids menu, which was smaller portions at special prices-a nice touch! Our pho was delicious! Nice broth, and the portions were a good size. I would have preferred a bit more pho and meat, but just a minor complaint. We also had some nice spring rolls, which were probably among the best I've had! A real slice of pork inside along with the shrimp, instead of a processed slice really made them good! To be honest, a little lackluster as compared to the other reviews. We came upon this place after seeing that it had pretty good reviews on yelp. We ordered the original spring rolls (with shrimp and beef) and had the original house special Pho. The spring rolls are bland. They were stuffed too much with veggies that even loading them up with peanut sauce could help them taste any less bland. The pho broth is okay...not as rich as other places but not bad either. Came here with the family. This particular Sunday is 7 dollars for large bowl, regularly 8 dollars, I'm not sure if that's a running special they have. Anyhow this might be the worse pho I've had, large sized bowl does not have much noodles, light on greens and sprouts. The broth didn't have a pleasant fragrance either. I ordered the dac biet which should include Meatballs (but didn't) , it had pork meat in it, first time I've had pork meat in pho. Does not go well. I don't recommend the pho here. We also ordered their shrimp fried rice, which was not bad, it's light on veggies and egg though. Close to home is why we gave this place a shot. WOW! What a gem. I've only had pho a few times over the years, always found it tasty but never sought it out or craved it. Well, that was before I had Pho Duy. Had some time to kill before heading to a meeting and had missed lunch. Trusting Yelpers, searched nearby and figured soup would be quick. I started with the spring rolls and peanut sauce. They're pretty big, I could only eat the one and took the 2nd to go. I believe they roll as ordered bc there were no dry or soggy spots like you sometimes get from rolls that sit too long. Words won't do the pho justice but here's a few that come to mind.. super delish, fresh, made from scratch, flavorful belly satisfaction. This is as good as broth gets if you're as picky about broth as I am. Really attentive friendly staff as well. Highly recommend getting your pho on here at least once. Finally we have a good Vietnamese restaurant in Colleyville. Great location and easy to get to. I really like their Pho and spring rolls. Run a special on Pho all day Tuesday and Sunday. Pho is always a great healthy choice along with the spring rolls. The peanut sauce is yummy. It is BYOB. The prices are very reasonable. The Pho is really good. I like the broth. You can fix it to your liking with the table condiments. Nice decor with TV's that keep you connected to things. The staff is always attentive and friendly. The place is always kept clean. So It pains me to leave a low review anywhere but others must be warned. Do not judge the culture of Vietnam based on this establishment. Short story food and price are atrocious and service is decent. The place has been open about eighteen months and has over fifty reviews earning it four stars. After our experience tonight we sincerely question the authenticity of the majority of reviews made. We were greeted by our server who invited us to take a seat at a booth. The atmosphere was okay, nothing special but sufficient. The only gripe was lighting could have been done better and the TV was on instead of music which dulled the environment. Starting with spring rolls - Decent, had cucumber which was unusual but overall standard. Presentation was good. Ordered the combination vermicelli - noodles were warm, ugh. Meats had no seasoning and were proportionally small for the 9.50 price. Two stars. Pho Tai was some over the worst ever had. Like I knew when I tasted the drinking water there was either something wrong with the soap from the dishwasher or the city water was bad. whatever it was it found its self into the Pho broth. The lack of any discernable flavor or spice was enhanced visually by the clear light color of the broth. To my dismay no amount of sirracha or any other sauce added could cover up the bad broth. To top it off the 7.50 price for a large had little meat and was about the size of most other medium or small. Good thing it wasn't good or I'd care more about the portion of the large. After setting it on another table because the smell made me nauseous the very kind waiter came over and explained they have a lighter broth than others. He told us it was made from tendons (Pho broth is made from bones) so I knew they were skipping steps. He offered the chicken broth which he said was darker. I tried the chicken broth but it was the same bland unflavored stock. I know that we have a developed taste from eating at over fifty Pho noodle houses over the last fifteen years but this place was like the lowest ten percent and should defiantly be avoided. read more

I ALMOST came to eat here tonight because I saw the reviews and thought wow how have we never eaten here before? Then we pulled into the parking lot and yeah we've eaten here before over a year ago and completely forgot the name of the restaurant. We went to My Lan in Southlake instead because honestly in my opinion their food is definitely better, especially when it comes to their pho. I don't know what everyone else orders from this spot but I'm guessing it wasn't the pho because this isn't the spot for you if that's what you're looking for, the boba isn't all that good either. First review I've ever written. Wanted to give this place a shot because I saw 4 star rating. We ordered a pork banh mi and pork vermicelli. The vermicelli was fine. The pork banh mi was bread with hardly anything inside of it. Then we ordered tea with boba. They first brought it out and I saw that the drink literally had 7 pieces of boba inside of it. I thought this must have been done by mistake, and asked if they could put more boba in it. They said yes and brought the drink back with maybe 15 pieces in it this time... and then I saw that they charged me for extra boba. 15 pieces of boba is not extra, anywhere you go. Pho Duy is by far the best Pho restaurant around the DFW Metroplex! The Pho Ga (chicken) is full of flavor and my absolute favorite. Their chicken avocado spring rolls are made perfect every time. A lot of places I've been too put whole leaf lettuce in theirs --at Pho Duy they use shredded lettuce. To finish, the avocado smoothie with almond and vanilla milk (extra boba) is the healthiest version of "ice cream" you can get! Mmmmm mmmm! Only downside is they don't serve alcohol but do allow you to BYOB. read more

I still like this place, it's common and that's the best part of any good restaurant. However, there's always room for improvement, such as adding enough ingredients to make the meal worth it.
