Now, I'm no Pho expert, but I do know that I have driven over 15 minutes to get me a bowl, so on a rare free Saturday, we venture to the normal spot I've tried before... But then, while on the 605 North, I decide to try the Yelp app on my Blackberry. Jackpot baby. I see a review for a "nearby" place and read aloud "Filet Mignon Pho." Tina-Marie says, "Sold." The #14 Filet Mignon Pho arrived and, I am delighted to say, it blew every other type of Pho I have ever tried in my life straight out of the water. In other words, it was Fan-Phoking-tastic! I would be remiss if I didn't give a shout out to the Lemonade. Guys, I am a lemonade snob, I HATE lemonade from restaurants. But something deep down within my little foodie soul whispered "Psssst. I was craving for pho and decided to turn to Yelp to look for a place nearby home. Pho Filet came up and I remember seeing a few of my friends check in before so I decided to give them a try. After looking at the menu I decided to try out #69 which is the vermicelli with egg rolls, beef, nem nuong, and shrimp paste. My food came out within minutes and I was surprised as to how fast it took. But I wasn't complaining I was hungry and ready to stuff my face. First thing I did was to check to see if my egg rolls were cooked (habit since this other place I used to go to always seemed to under cook them) and they were fully cooked! Their egg rolls are so crispy and delicious. I couldn't believe how much food I got. I noticed that there was a lot of meat, for the first time I actually had more meat than vermicelli. This plates gets packed during lunch/dinner time. I've been here a few times during dinner and there was no tables available. I decided to just order to go since I really don't like waiting. Closed on Tuesdays! Most people come here for their rare steak because it's more tender than other pho restaurants. I personally don't like it because it's on the chewy side when the meat is still rare. I always come here for their vermicelli or rice plates because the eggrolls are so crispy! Even though these dishes take a bit longer to prepare than just noodle soup, they come out pretty fast. The banh xeo (yellow crepe) is okay, a bit on the soggy side but that's because there is a ton of pork inside. If you come during lunchtime, be warned of the possible long wait. What I usually do is go to the liquor store a few doors down and buy a bunch of scratchers to pass the time! Then after lunch, you can go back to collect your winnings! And as always, get a French coffee to go back to the office, you'll need it!! Sometimes it's good to be able to have the mothership to go back to. In this case when the number 2 store has people spilling out the door to get in, we kept on driving and paid a visit to the original location, which ironically is actually closer for me to get to... This one is about half the size of the larger Pho Filet 2, a little more run down and dirtier, and the parking situation is worse, but the menu is exactly the same. I've got a routine down pat: large Tai Gan with the meat on the side (if I remember to ask) and an iced coffee. The missus ordered a small Tai Chin and hot tea. This place is a super casual and maybe a little bit of a rundown mom and pop type of restaurant. It's nothing too fancy and to be honest the service isn't the greatest. BUT regardless it's one of my favorite places to get pho! I usually get the XL Pho Dac Biet. The portions are super generous! Every time I get it I can only eat about half of the bowl before I'm completely stuffed. It comes with a ton of meat and the perfect amount of noodles. There are a ton of different kinds of meat too so every bite is different! The soup comes out piping hot and stays warm throughout your entire time eating. The broth is SUPERR savory and meaty and absolutely warms the soul. It has a dark broth from the additional spices, medium flat noodles (compared to thinner pho noodles), light shavings of ginger which you can barely taste separately but adds to flavor. Mmm that dark broth, it looked like one already squirted a heaping of hoisin sauce in there, but for the love of God, DON'T. It's one of the few broths that satisfied the flavor fiend in me without having to alter it at all. And the meat...just so tender. Since it was a cold and rainy day today, we decided to come here for dinner. I was in a Pho mood because of the weather. I ordered the Pho Filet Mignon #14. The Pho was tasty with quite a bit of meat that comes with the order. They also serve you bean sprouts, and lemon that comes with the soup. The soup base was really good! Probably one of my favorites compared to other Pho restaurants. They use thicker rice noodles, the beef was thinly sliced, and the proportion along with the noodles was quite large. I also ordered a Vietnamese hot drip coffee. this is probably the reason why I am still awake. It's already past 4:00 A.M. Saturday morning! The coffee was really strong and it's served with condensed milk on the bottom. It was more like a shot of expresso. I had to water it down with a couple cups of hot water and it was still strong. This is what Viet coffee is all about. Yummy! The service was okay. The food came, so the server never came back. I had to flag down a waitress for more hot water. I was a bit disappointed about her unhappy to serve attitude. She probably had a bad hair day. Or maybe they get so many repeat customers eating there, that the servers don't care to smile anymore. I must say the place is good though. I will go back again. But they need to be a bit more clean inside. Sticky floors, sticky tables, and some spoons were not washed too well. I tried pho bac (#14) for the first time last night. I invited a friend along and told him that this little restaurant has the best pho ever. He read the reviews on here and decided to go for pho bac, since a majority of you loved it. In my opinion, it was not as enjoyable as number 15, which is pretty much everything plus meatballs. I regret ordering a large bowl of pho bac last night because it took me a while to eat it and I didn't end up getting close to finishing it because the soup cooled down. But like mentioned, I didn't like it, period. I would still come back and recommend this place to more people, but i'll STAY AWAY from pho bac. I've had this place bookmarked for a good year and a half, my desire to come here was strengthened when I saw fellow Yelper Trac N who's Viet refer to this spot as the best pho in town. (Okay, not all~) The restaurant is a bit dingy and when I was outside hanging out in the tiny plaza I saw some crack heads getting into it with someone who was either a very butch woman or a very broadly shouldered man wearing women's clothing. Pinky and I both ordered the regular sized pho bac with some tea. Pinky who's Viet himself tasted the broth first and gave his seal of approval, so came my turn, the moment of truth... yummers! If you're traveling easy on Garvey, Pho Filet is located in a mini strip mall on the left side just as you pass McDonald's. If you order any of the pho with tai, you'll be served tender & delicious slices of filet mignon! It's realllllly good. Keep in mind that the pho bac (their specialty) is served with thick noodles.. which I don't particularly enjoy. So you can still get filet mignon with any of the regular pho. I had the pho bac my first time here and wasn't impressed, but this second time... From what I am told Pho Filet specialize in the pho with the raw meat (filet) Advice from professional pho lovers is to ask for a separate small bowl of hot broth to cook the meat in before you eat it. Freaking love this place starting with the angry vietnamese servers screaming right when you walk through the door. The music, the drinks, the drinks...AH. Everything just feels authentic and so right here. The Filet Mignon Pho is also BOMB. At first I had my doubts, but then I dug in and saw that the meat was cooking at just the right temperature and the soup was delightfully perfect. But seriously, that meat was incredibly tender and flavorful that I don't think I can forget it (at least not right now). The pho dac biet XL will only cost you $9 (cash only), but you're going to get a decent amount of noodles along with an incredible amount of rare beef, tripe, tendon, and meatballs. For the price, you're really getting a great deal, and it comes out in less than 5 minutes. I do wish the soup were hotter and that there were more noodles, but this place is also the first that comes with raw onions along with the usual accompaniments. We came here with my family. There are plenty of tables for all size parties. We had 6 people so we sat at the big table which sat us perfectly. There are plenty of workers working so service is EXCELLENT! Our server spoke decent English and when he came to bring our food he even said "Enjoy your meal!" I don't think I have ever heard an Asian waiter say that! We even got water refills without even asking! We ordered filet rare steak, well-done flank, brisket, tendon and tripe pho (#16). The soup was smooth-good, soothing-good and was not a turn off for me from start to finish. God, how smooth it tasted. The service was decent. It was a no hassles in and out experience. The neighborhood was rough looking but I wouldn't hesitate to go again. Oops, forgot the beef. The beef slices were so tender they were practically one big lump. They tasted pretty good. Came here on a Friday for lunch and it was packed. So packed, that they sat a stranger with me at my table for 2...awkward! Minus 1 star for this. Anyhow, the service was decent and the pricing good I had the rare steak pho as usual and the meat is good. You get lots of it as well but it is sliced thicker than I prefer. Where it loses another star is in the broth. It is a bit too sweet for my liking. The onions are also not choped as fine as they should be. I had huge chunks of onion come with some of my bites. Tried the pho bac...I forget that it comes with the thick noodle which I don't really like in pho. The meat is tender but a bit clumpy and chewy. Make sure to ask for the vinegrette onions and add hoisin sauce and sriracha to it. They have a large ($6.50) and small ($5.50) bowl. The small might be good for kids but the large is better for adults. I had the small and was not really full. We also ordered the hot luu che drink/dessert ($2). About 1/3 of the cup contained the food contents and the other 2/3 was just ice. Definitely pass on the che. read more

My go to place for pho. Good price, portion is big, lots of meat. I always order #15 or #16.

I love this place! I've been living in LA for a little over a year now and I have been looking for my favorite pho spot. This place is cash only and very inexpensive. The broth is amazing and flavorful. They use good cuts of meat and they also have filet mignon which is life changing if you haven't had it yet with your pho! Their Vietnamese iced coffee is perfect. It's definitely strong, but doesn't taste like it which can be dangerous. I take all my friends here after a night of drinking and I've honestly stopped trying to go to other pho places. read more

I love this love this place!!!! I was put on strict bedrest so I would always order to go and send my boyfriend or dad to pick up my order. I guess it was a surprised to them when I call in my order and I pick it up personally for the first time lol the cashier and owner came to great me as well as the chef lol I felt special. Once they saw my pregnant belly they understood why it was my first time being there. I had to go to the doctor and decided to swing by after since I had no one to go for me ‍ Order: Number 14 / filet mignon pho: When I first started to order here I would always ask for the meat inside the broth (they call it soup) and I guess it was a weird request since they always asked if I was sure. It didn't take long for them to get used to my request , now they give me a separate cup with broth when I ask for extra meat and all the meat inside the soup. Their pho is hands down the best I've ever had, so flavorful and piping hot. Rice noodles and green onions with ginger are separate. Greens and veggies with a slice of lemon, sliced jalapeños , and a small cup with a mix of brown paste and siracha are also in that same bag. They never forget silverware. Crispy egg roll: They have a light fishy taste but they are so good, I've never really asked what they are made of lol. They come with fresh romaine lettuce leaves, mint leaves, red chilly paste, pickled carrots and some other white pickled veggie, and cucumber slices. A small cup with a yellowish watery sauce (I never eat it , but my guess is to dip the egg roll) not really a fan of it though. Coconut jelly: It taste just what it's named lol like they jellied a fresh coconut and served in a clear cup. Taste so fresh. Chicken stir fry: My son's favorite, it's flavorful with lots of meat and veggies. Huge portion! Thai tea with boba: Seriously the best, I don't like that they only have one size though. People will say how hard is is to mess up Thai tea but I've been to other places in which it's too sweet, or too bitter because they don't put the perfect ratios of tea and milk/cream. read more

With no questions asked, four hours later, I was driving through gritty El Monte and parked in the McDonald's parking lot right next door. This is a gritty journey for some pho. I ordered the pho dish with all the varieties of meat in it, except meatballs. The Golden Brisket, a term I stole from the Noodle Whore, was extremely flavorful in the tasty broth. For some reason, the dishes on the menu only come in two size options: small and extra large. I went with the extra large. This was some delicious pho. TL;DR: Great Pho tai and good prices. Serving size is good, but the place itself is kind of small. My go-to Pho place in 626. Friend introduced me to Pho pastuer so I'll see how long this holds. I hold this place comparable to places in the OC. Its quite cheap from where I've been going. Coming in at $7 for a bowl of Pho tai was nice because of the size of their bowls. The amount of meat and noodles they give you is great too. The taste is typical, it doesn't really wow me, but it doesn't taste bad. Its great for what I've paid and I always walk out of here satisfied. Only complaint would be parking and the size of the restaurant itself. Might have to wait if you go on peak hours. read more
