    Half chicken
    Joyce W.

I love a place that is cash only, has a limited menu (only two options!), is quick, tasty, and also serves offal. The server was nice and answered all of our questions. This is a no nonsense joint. We all got the chicken pho since that is the main staple of the restaurant (and name sake). I usually am not a fan of chicken pho as it's usually underwhelming and the broth is less flavorful but that is not the case here at all. The broth had an incredible depth of flavor, was seasoned so perfectly that I didn't even want to add anything additional to it. You order a quarter or half chicken at a time. As a group of 3, we got a half ($18) and it included one drumstick, wing and drummy, breast, thigh, a gizzard, and several puffs of chicken blood. The breast was dry and over boiled but the blood was the star of the show after the broth and perfectly cooked noodles. Definitely do not shy away from it!

I decided to write another review for this place, considering the fact that I've become semi addicted. The service is as amiable as you will get in any family run restaurant. I love the older woman in the kitchen who is so fun and friendly. The broth is as good as it possibly could be. Come in ready to get your fingers, dirty and enjoy an incredible meal.

The pho ga here is amazing. Strong rich chicken soup- nothing artificial. The chicken are steamed and texture is smooth. It comes with a tangy sauce. Service is fast and it's really only one item that everyone orders and it cost $15 cash only. They also sell sugarcane drink for $8. Bathroom in the back corner isn't the cleanest.

I hadn't been to this establishment since they first opened. Last time we came, we left thinking the broth was amazing but the chicken was tough. I'm glad we gave them another try. The broth was still equally amazing, noodles cooked perfectly, chicken was moist and not tough or dry this time. The lime salt they serve to dip the chicken in has a nice tang of spice to it too. For a large plain pho + quarter chicken + large chicken pho = $34. It's not cheap for a bowl of noodle soup, but it's pretty delicious. Service is quick, food comes out within 2 minutes of ordering. They no longer give you a menu to look at with prices, since they only have one thing on the menu - chicken pho. I still think it would be nice to have a menu for guests to compare prices of plain vs chicken pho, and the side chicken add-on.

Chicken pho is superior, especially if you have chicken pho from PGTT, and you can't convince me otherwise. I was never one to seek out viet restaurants until I moved away from home. Philly Viet food scene has given me so much comfort and PGTT is one of them. If you go on a weekend around lunch time, be prepared to wait but it's relatively quick. Most people eat and leave, they don't sit and chit chat. The broth is light but umami at the same time. The chicken's meat is bouncy and I love the salt and pepper dip that comes with it. We frequent this location and the newly opened location near Hmart very often and they both deliver consistently. Also love that they offer sugar cane, pennywort and Viet coffee here. The pennywort and sugar cane sometimes taste watered down depending on the day, but the coffee hits every time.

Food: 3/5 Service: 2/5 I am super disappointed in this pho restaurant. This place used to have very good pho which we would look forward to almost every week to come and eat. But the recent visit led to a major disappointment. Our usual order is 2x bowls of the regular plain pho and half a chicken. As seen in the photos, the visit a while back the bowl is filled with pho noodles. On the recent visit, the bowl was half full of noodles even though it was the same price. The two visits were about a month apart. Likewise, the chicken before was meaty but the recent chicken barely had any meats and didn't even look like it was half a chicken. The soup this time was also very bland not as flavorful as it used to be. To have a drastic change without any notice is disappointing since we would always come here to eat and leave with leftovers but this time we left feeling hungry. Additionally, there was barely any service. The only interaction between us and the staff was taking the order and bringing out the food. The staff also didn't even seem like they wanted to be there.

First time having chicken pho - simple yet flavorful, clean broth without too many aromatics, and the side plate of succulent chicken was the perfect complement. The broth was already flavorful enough so you really don't need the hoisin or Sriracha. And I loved the sauce that you dip the chicken in - not as tangy as I thought it would be but still flavorful and those peppers will get to you!

This establishment proves if you do one thing really well, people will keep coming back. I first found out about it when I was waiting for a table at another restaurant located in the same plaza. I noticed a lot of people waiting outside in the hot summer heat. That was summer 2022 and I immediately added it to my Yelp collection. When I visited Philly this summer, I knew I had to pay a visit. I already expected a line but praying it moves quick. It did! The gentleman working there took down our name and phone number. They would call us when our table was ready. The given eta was 15 minutes and they didn't lie. There were only two people in my party so we got seated quickly. I noticed larger families waited around longer. We each got a small Pho Ga but debated if we should get a half chicken and two plain noodles. The benefit in doing the latter would probably yield a few more pieces of chicken. We settled on a small Pho Ga each because we had more restaurants to visit The chicken was smooth and flavorful. It really didn't need anything added to it. But I did dip them a few times into the small plate of spicy salty vinegary sauce that it came with. I was sweating while devouring it but I still finished everything and returned a completely empty bowl.

Warning: CASH ONLY!!! And they still charge you tax even if you pay in cash! Huge scam!!! Plus, the food quality is worse than it used to be, it will give you stomach pain and diarrhea !!!

I often think that places with menus that serve all sorts of things can't be particularly good at anything. Phở Gà Thanh Thanh is one of those unique spots that only serves two things on their menu: Chicken Pho or Beef Pho. But you go here for the Chicken Pho. And they serve it up unlike most Vietnamese restaurants, with a plate of chopped up chicken on the side and a bowl of pho noodles in broth. They have their own dipping sauce for the pho too, which should replace the need for hoisin sauce. As someone who lives in California and has easy access to all sorts of authentic Vietnamese food, I was skeptical when a friend recommended I go to Phở Gà Thanh Thanh in Philly and said it was as good as Vietnamese food in California. After taking my mom, I have to say it's true. The phở here is authentic and delicious, even by Vietnamese or California standards. (Sometimes you have to grade on a different scale and take into consideration the fact that some Vietnamese restaurants are far from Vietnamese ingredients). So come here for a memorable and delicious bowl of chicken phở. Don't expect too much from the service staff. They'll take your order, bring your food, and not check in on you again. But that's par for the course at most Vietnamese restaurants. What's important here is that the food is quality!

When I heard this place is open in South Philly, I was so happy, because I finally get to try their famous chicken pho. They used to be in North Philly. I like the taste of the broth a lot, so light and flavorful. The chicken was so fresh and delicious. And their service is excellent, food comes out really fast. I highly recommended if you're in South Philly should try this place out!

Food The main menu at Pho Ga is their chicken pho. I took my brother here who is in love with pho. I brought him here with high expectations and they did the job. He loved it! The broth is so tasty and clean! There are two different sizes either the small or large but if your hungry I would say go for the large. (It's just that good!) Then we get to the protein part which is the chicken. Not your typical beef pho but this is the place to go for chicken pho! They sell their chicken either in half or whole and the price is based on market price. There is so much flavor that's in each bite of the chicken! The soup is also served so hot and it is the perfect dish to eat on a cold wintery day in Philly. I know friends who would visit Philly just to try this Pho from different states! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Location Was introduced to Pho Ga from my Viet friend when it was in Kensington location. Was looking for this place and saw that the location had changed to Bella vista. I was more than excited to visit this place again and to see if it was the same great taste! The parking is a little hard because this is a poppin place with all the Viet foods here. However, it isn't impossible to find either free parking in the neighborhood or even in the parking lot. Service The service at this location was top notch. With the Omicron variant bringing lots of concern they mandate wearing a mask when entering the store. If you don't have a mask they provide you with one!

Pho Ga Thanh Thanh offers a no-frills, authentic experience with some of the best chicken pho in town. The broth is clear and flavorful, and the chicken is tender and plentiful. Service is efficient, making it a go-to spot for a hearty, satisfying meal.

The biggest surprise was the tái (eye-round steak), yet still retaining that pleasantly chewy texture of undercooked beef; the gầu (fat brisket) was thick and crisp, fragrant but not greasy--who would have thought I'd find brisket fat here? This showed the restaurant's precise control over the broth temperature and the thickness of the beef. Almost all phở restaurants claim to offer authentic raw beef or various cuts of beef, but very few can truly make customers feel the difference. The restaurant's decor is simple but spacious and clean; the service is average, but very efficient. Efficiency is essential for phở, otherwise the beef would be overcooked in the hot broth. After all, the essence of a restaurant is food, and for such affordable ones, it's gratifying to see them spend most of their costs on the food itself.
