#48. Bun Tom Bo Nuong Cha Gio
    Ali S.

The Bun Tom Bo Nuong Cha Gio was absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The grilled beef was tender and smoky, the shrimp was juicy, and the crispy egg roll added the perfect crunch. The vermicelli noodles and fresh herbs made the dish feel light and refreshing, while the fish sauce tied everything together beautifully. The portion was generous, and every bite was packed with flavor. Definitely one of the best Vietnamese noodle bowls I've had--I would happily order it again!

This is my local go-to spot for pho and egg rolls. I'm sure there are "better" places in Westminster or Fountain Valley but for Irvine, Pho Ha Noi has always been a staple. I usually dine in and while there isn't much of an ambiance, there are lots of tables and a few comfy booths. Service is prompt and efficient. Expect a steaming hot bowl of pho just a few minutes after you're seated!! It's located in the Cypress Village plaza, next to Starbucks. Plenty of parking and even some EV charging stations.

I came here with my family and ordered the vermicelli bowl. The food came out very quickly and although it was convenient, it made me question how fresh it was. Unfortunately, the flavor tasted a bit off. The vermicelli bowl consisted of mostly veggies so I thought this was a bit overpriced from what I'm used to. The customer service wasn't the greatest but wasn't too bad either. When we would ask for something, there wasn't a verbal response however they did get what we needed. I appreciated the help however it left me feeling their interaction was impersonal and they should've been a bit friendlier. I would say the place is very clean. I really would like to say I enjoyed the food but overall the experience fell a bit short. Hopefully, it was just an off day.

Great service today and nice clean restroom too. The pork chop with rice was must excellent and tasty freshness just off the grill made to order never frozen. The handmade spring rolls were delicious and the peanut sauce was very good. Overall a good find here in Irvine close to Albertsons supermarket and the Islamic center too. Happy New Year 2026!! Another beautiful day in paradise.

Was craving some lemon grass beef noodles and when I say this place takes care of you , I mean that! Look at this portion!!!! Super flavorful, hot and delicious! Great first impression!!! Staff is welcoming and friendly and the establishment is very clean organized and best of all, DELICIOUS FOOD!!!!!!! Will definitely be back

I often come here when I'm craving hot pho soup. Their broth is good enough to enjoy but I still prefer the pho locations at Westminster. Given that this one is located in Irvine and close to the freeway ramp in Kohls and Albertsons plaza it is good enough. Their spring rolls aren't good like Brodard but their fried egg rolls are delicious. Service is good and I can see it's a family owned place. Sometimes when I come here it is packed and you have to wait outside as there's minimal space to wait indoors. Dining area isn't as large as typical restaurants but it is quite clean. There's no Yelp waitlist so you have to out your name on a paper list and wait for their staff to call you.

Pho with rare steak, brisket, and beef tendon

I've been coming here with my family for many years now and this time brought one of my friends to try it out! This place isn't terribly fancy but it's always been a reliable spot in terms of food and price. Pho with rare steak, brisket, beef tendon (4.5/5) - The broth was great and really hit the spot after a long day out. - Choice of meats provided good variety - Classic toppings with jalapenos, bean sprouts, basil, lime - In terms of portions, you can choose between a small/regular or large size - I almost always get the small/regular and it's very filling. Service was quick and the food was satisfying! You pay at the counter after you're finished with your meal, so overall just a pretty straightforward, no frills experience.

Parking is easy and plentiful at this plaza!! The gentlemen at the front welcomed us in with a bright smile, and the service was very quick and friendly. Very attentive to needs. When we walked in, I noticed the freshness, vibrant colors of the walls, and cleanliness of the restaurant. They offer a wide selection of Vietnamese food with rice and noodle dishes. I really enjoyed the fried egg roll appetizer. It came with fish sauce and very fresh veggies! The egg rolls are distinctive here and an absolute must try. It's white and wrapped/fried in rice paper instead of the traditional golden brown egg roll you normally see at other places. It's a MUST order! The pho broth is very, very flavorful. I didn't use sriracha or hoisin sauce. I actually finished most of the soup when I normally leave the broth.. if I like to sip on the broth alone, that really means something. Yeah, it's really good. Tastes different than other pho places. My order came with a lot of meat and tendon in the broth too. The meat is soft and tender, also juicy. Not dried or skimpy like other pho restaurants. I will definitely come back soon since it's right next to my best friend's place in Irvine. Especially since the weather out is cold now, we will definitely enjoy pho here all winter.. Portion and bowl sizes are huge, so I'm glad! I was very full after dinner. Slept like a baby after getting home. Such a comfort meal. Also got take-out on another day. The bo luc lac. Really good and tender meat

I've been coming here since I was a kid, and the food has always been consistent and delicious. I usually order the pho tai (with rare steak) or pho tai gan (with rare steak and tendon). I will say in my recent visits I noticed that they don't really give a lot of noodles compared to other pho places, but I personally can't eat too much in one sitting so that works out just fine for me personally (I don't like wasting food!) Overall a nice place to get a quick bite of pho and also have a fun look at their paper placements with the zodiac animals.

I was staying with my son, and he picked up dinner for us from Pho Ha Noi. He picks up food from this restaurant frequently. I had never had Vietnamese food before. He ordered Goi Bo for me, which is a spicy beef salad. The beef was tender and flavorful. He also ordered a side of rice and broth. I liked the rice, but I didn't care for the broth at all. The food was good, but I don't think I'd go back when there are so many other restaurants nearby.

Yes, they provide seasoning on the side, but personally, I wish the broth already had enough flavor on its own without needing to adjust it myself. Would I come back? Probably not. While I never thought Capital Noodle Bar was the best noodle joint that you could find in/around Irvine, this place was always so tasty and convenient! Even though they weren't our favorite place, the times we stopped by Capital Noodle Bar was usually on our way to/from the airport for a quick bite. Not only was the restaurant large (snagging a table was never an issue), but our food (typically) came out relatively quick. In addition, their menu was stocked with so many delicious options. It felt a little more Malaysian than Chinese to me, but, regardless, their collection of appetizers, dim sum items, congee, noodle soups, stir fried noodles, entrees, fried rice, and rice plates was so enticing, we couldn't help but come back to try more and more! -- HOT SAUCE TRAY I know it's kind of weird to mention this, but I love their dish of hot sauces. In particular, their jalapenos and chili oil go well with everything we've had here. -- CRISPY TOFU This may not have looked quite like what I had expected, but this was pretty good! The tofu was pillowy soft and piping hot while the outside of it was surprisingly crispy, given how it's not really battered. -- WONTON NOODLE SOUP - Pork & Shrimp Wonton, Egg Noodles We got this as part of their weekday special ($12 all-day, dine-in only), so I'm not sure if the portion size is any different. Either way, this was great. The wonton skins were a little thin, but each piece was plump and juicy, the noodles had a nice bite, and the broth was solid. -- CHAR KWAY TEOW - Shrimp, Chinese Sausage, Bean Sprouts, Egg, and Large Rice Noodles I've been on a bit of a kick ordering this whenever I see it and this was one of the better ones. The noodles were cooked really well (very bouncy), the dish had a slight kick yet it wasn't overly salty/seasoned, and the dish wasn't overloaded with beansprouts. -- SPICY GARLIC CALAMARI Ehh...this wasn't "bad", but it was definitely underwhelming. Although these were seasoned well and had a nice crispiness, the calamari itself was chewy and reminded me of the generic type you get at most other Chinese restaurants. -- TRIO OF BEEF NOODLE SOUP - Sliced Tenderloin, Beef Ball, Beef Stew (Beef Shank, Tripe, Tendon, Carrot), and Egg Noodles I was super hopeful for this one, but it turned out to be just okay. For me, the ingredients tasted fine, but the portion seemed a little light on the beef shank and the broth needed a bit more body to it (felt a little thin). -- CRISPY HAINAN CHICKEN - Deep Fried Dark Meat, Pickled Vegetables, Ginger Rice, Soy Sauce, Ginger, and Chili Sauce Not very traditional, but no less delicious. Boneless Hainan Chicken is appealing enough, but fried, too? While I wish there had been more of it, each piece was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The ginger rice was quite tasty as well! -- WAGYU BEEF POSTICKERS Pretty standard, though, not necessarily in a bad way. Although there wasn't much of a browned bottom/crust on these, I love how big and plump these were and how the filling had a nice, beefy flavor to it. -- HONG KONG STYLE CHOW FUN WITH CHICKEN, Seasonal Greens, Carrot, Mushroom, Egg, Gravy Sauce, and Large Rice Noodles This was just okay for me. The dish had a good ratio of vegetables and meats to noodles, but the gravy didn't do much for me - there was so much of it, it felt more distracting than additive. -- MANGO GREEN TEA Surprisingly, this wasn't nearly as sweet as I feared it would be. The mango flavor in this wasn't super intense and went well with the green tea. Along with how satisfying most of Capital's dishes have been, the other thing that I liked about this place was the staff. Every time we came here, the workers were always friendly and really attentive, even despite how they usually only had one server working. That being said, it has never been all that busy either, which might help explain why their closure. As genuinely bummed as I am to learn that this place has closed, it should be said that it's not like Capital Noodle Bar is gone forever. If you missed your chance to try them, or just want to eat here again, they have another location in Costa Mesa that's still open and just a short drive away. And, as it turns out, it's even closer to the airport, so our pseudo-ritual of stopping off can continue to live on. Thanks for the memories, Irvine Capital Noodle Bar!
