Very standard Vietnamese restaurant! I ordered pho and our table ordered an egg roll appetizer, which was delicious. The pho wasn't anything spectacular, it was good but not that much better than other pho I've tried in the area. This is my neighborhood Pho joint and while there may be better Pho elsewhere, nothing beats Pho Hanoi for their convenience, price, quality and friendly service. One of the biggest reasons why we always come here is the ability to eat outside and enjoy our beautiful OC weather. Also its nice not to smell like Pho the rest of the day. Their Pho with rare beef and tendon is a regular order and other notable items are their spring rolls, shaking filet mignon and excellent lemongrass chicken. Don't let the negative reviews guide you away, this place is a solid 4 stars but rounding up to 5 stars cause the owners and staff always make me feel so welcomed. read more

When I first got the the place, it was extremely dim. I read many reviews before deciding to come here and one of them said there was a worm in their food. I thought to myself, maybe that's why the place is so dimly lit now. Anyways, on to the food. I got vermicelli with pork and fried egg rolls. First impression when I started to mix the ingredients were, "wow that's a lot of vegetables". The pork and egg rolls were good but the noddles and the fish sauce wasn't hitting the spot for me. The noodles were very cold, colder than other places and the fish sauce simply had no flavor. I had to ask for another bowl of fish sauce and it barely helped.. the noddles they used also were different from what I'm used to. These noodles is fatter and don't soak up the fish sauce. It's all preference, but I personally didn't like it all that much. We also got spring rolls and it was decent. Nothing really outstanding or negative. Overall, this place is just okay. This place was good, clean, and the service was great. I came solo and was seated immediately and given an ice water right away. I knew what I wanted, so he took my order and my food came out pretty quick and was accurate. I got a small rare steak pho with a side of vegetables. Portions are good, although it didn't look like a ton of meat, it was actually perfect and the broth was really good, not too salty. Everyone I spoke to was helpful and friendly. I also saw that they served a couple of people outside to accommodate them having their dog with them and even brought a small water cup for the dog. Can't beat a place that is also pet friendly :). I haven't tried their other dishes yet, but would definitely recommend as a solid place for a nice bowl of pho. Will return soon! read more

I just want to warn people that this place is unsanitary. We got two sets of side plates that looked and smelled like they hadn't been washed at all. When I gave it back to the waiter my fingers touched something sticky on top and bottom sides of both sets. It was disgusting. The waiter didn't even seem to be surprised or sorry about that. Im struggling with wether to leave 2 or 3 stars. Overall I honestly feel the food is a 3. However, I have been frustrated in trying to alter or ask for anything different than exactly what the menu has. I love pho because the delicious soup/broth but here you generally get a bowl filled to the brim with noodles and a small amount of broth. I have asked on multiple occasions for half the noodles but when the waitress comes out with it she has said "i told them but they dont listen." Also which i think is a huuge problem is they dont have soap in the bathrooms. They take both soap and hand sanitizer and water it down incredibly to call it "soap". My table ordered various things like bok choy stir fry, fried rice, pho tai, crispy noodle stir fry, stir fry with noodles, and vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and egg rolls. Don't expect anything spectacular when you're dining here. The menu has a wide variety of dishes, but nothing has really blown my tastebuds away. I've never had the pho here but I've tried a lot of different noodle and rice dishes. It's decent Vietnamese food. However, we still visited this restaurant a few times this summer because it's just so convenient to be able to walk to this plaza from the boyfriend's apartment when we're craving our viet fix. I've been trying to eat less meat and was happy to find that they put all of their vegetarian dishes together on a little section in the last page of the menu. I ordered from the vegetarian dishes, while the boyfriend got some chicken and rice meal. When we got our receipt, I noticed the price of my meal was more expensive than what was printed in the menu so I asked them about it and the lady apologized and said she'd fix it. She went to talk to the guy at the cash register (I think he's the owner since I've seen him standing around watching all the workers every time I've been there) and then comes back and informs me that the prices in the vegetarian dishes section are only valid if everyone at the table orders from that section. WTF there's no fine print that says that and what the heck like vegetarians only eat out with other vegetarians?!?! I said that's a stupid rule like my boyfriend's not allowed to eat chicken if I don't eat meat... So that means I still pay more even though there's no meat in my meal and only in his? Bullshit. If any of you have ever heard of other restaurants having this bogus rule, go ahead and please let me know!! There's absolutely no logic to it. I just let it go though because it wasn't that much more so it wasn't that big of a deal but I won't be coming back. I live in Westminster... so I don't know what I was thinking coming here for pho. I believe it was because I needed to grab some stuff at the Albertson's in this plaza, and it was convenient to just eat around here. The pho was only a $0.50 cent difference between regular and large, so my "logical" Asian brain was telling me to get the large. Boy, did I regret that fast. Not only was the bowl huge, but there was a big brick of noodles in the middle. Literally. It was all clumped and stuck together like it was one piece. I pulled them apart and it spewed all that rice residue in my pho. Which kind of ruins the flavor. The noodles should have been cooked and rinsed before throwing them in the broth. I thought it was one of the worser bowls of pho I had in my lifetime. The BF got the filet mignon in garlic sauce. It was pretty yummy but there wasn't much of it. I came in on a busy Thursday evening and was hoping to just eat a quick meal and head off to run errands but when I asked the woman for a seat she just looked at me like she didn't want to help me and was like uhhh. I really like this place! When you look at the individual components that make up Pho Ha Noi, each part is average or slightly above average. HOWEVER, I think when you look at the big picture, Pho Ha Noi is more than the sum of its parts. Its my first time here and my first impression is pretty good. The decor is modern which is different from your typical Vietnamese place. Being modern looking does lose some of the family owned vibe I tend to like but its a welcome change. The inside is very clean because it is in a newly constructed part of Irvine and for Sunday lunch, there is a fair amount of people most of which is Vietnamese families. A good sign. I ordered a large Pho Tai (my favorite) and it was pretty good. The broth was decent, there was a lot of beef present (more than most places), the veggies were all very fresh, got a lot of noodles (which is usually a gripe with me because I like a lot of noodles) and bottom line, it tasted good. For $9, its a deal in my book. The staff is friendly. They are pretty quick to serving your food after ordering. Great place for lunch! My mom was craving a Vietnamese style sandwich and we passed this place and we decided to check it out. I didn't bother checking reviews but If I had we would NOT have eaten there at all. We ordered one beef and one pork sandwich so that we could try out two different kinds. Now we don't eat Vietnamese often but the sandwiches that we've had in the past ( in another city) were super tasty and filling. We noticed things might not go so well when the bag we got was super light. My mom double checked to make sure there were two orders in there, and there was so we left. Ordered spring rolls and specifically asked for no peanuts because I have a peanut allergy. I made this readily apparent, and they proceeded to serve me a peanut sauce to dip the spring rolls in. I unknowingly ate it assuming that it was safe, and inquired to the server after tasting a slight peanut taste. She proceeded to tell me that it was a peanut sauce. Now, my peanut allergy is not as severe as some others whose tracheas close upon contact. I usually get some hives and vomiting. Luckily, I did not ingest a huge amount of peanuts and got away with only vomiting. The server was pathetically apologetic and did nothing to remedy the situation. The manager didn't even come by to apologize. This is a serious health safety concern, and anyone coming here should not expect the workers to accommodate their food allergies. They workers did not possess the ability to comprehend the gravity of the situation and suggested that I "drink more water to dilute the peanuts." Medically sound advice, I would say. The pho used to be OH SO good.. it sucks now. The broth lacks flavor and the meat is mediocre. Honestly, the worst pho I've ever had. 2. The staff USED TO BE super friendly. They're all not there anymore. I see new faces. They've been replaced, our waitress was a teenage girl [most likely still in high school & happens to be their daughter]. Second time trying this place out. Last time was earlier this year. After my first visit I was ready to give this place 1 star, but decided to try it again before reviewing. The only reason it tasted okay was because it was my hangover food...but my friend said the broth was pretty watery. We also ordered the eggrolls and in my opinion, they looked like shedding reptile skin. Sorry for the gross image but that's literally what they looked like so I kinda lost my appetite. I know it's the way they fried it haha but I was hoping for the normal looking eggrolls that every Vietnamese place has.
