My favorite pho in the IE. Another one of those reviews where the stars are particularly generous due to the location. This isn't OC or LA, so I have different standards here. Pho ha has some of the best pho i've ever tasted, its too bad both their locations are a bit out of the way. The broth is really flavorful and not loaded up with MSG like other places. They also have some of my favorite bun thit nuong. Their noodles are slightly thinner, and its nice how you don't feel like you're just eating all noodle when you order it. The pork is super flavorful as well,and I love that they have an option with shrimp! Its tasty so order it :) Their bun bo hue is also very good. The noodles are always perfect, and i'm a huge fan of the broth as both this and their pho needs no doctoring. Im a broth purist, so I don't like loading up my food with lime juice and hoison sauce. I met my bud here for dinner last night. He said this is his favorite spot for Vietnamese food in Riverside. The interior was surprisingly clean and spacious. I liked that they turned up the air conditioning so it was nice and cool. I wasn't craving pho so I got their Diced beef steak with rice(#39). A platter of diced steak over caramelized onions came along a plate of rice and raw veggies. The meat was sweet and overly tender. Personally, I preferred the diced steak a block down at Pho Star Bowl. Better texture and overall flavor. My bud ordered pho and scarfed it down in minutes. Read horror stories on service here but it was decent. Servers came by regularly to refill our waters. Speaking of water. This place served the grossest water I've ever tasted in a restaurant. It tasted like tap water. Chemically and nasty. Order soda or bring your own water. read more

When this place first opened it was really quite good, seemed like something out of San Gabriel or Westminster. I was excited to finally have a good Pho place in town. The interior had plasma screens on the wall, a large menu, and it was super clean. Since then the appearance has gone done, and the food is a hit and miss. I've ordered the vegetarian Pho, chicken soup and the mixed beef Pho that all Pho restaurants are famous for. Each one has been good not great. Sometimes the broth is a bit oily with a strong scent of cinnamon and star anise. When I'm not in the mood for soup I usually order the spring rolls and a broken rice plate. Both are pretty tasty and worth a try. On the weekend there open till 1am and thats big news for Riverside. read more

I've eaten here for a every long time and I have always loved the food but as of lately the service hasn't been the best. One time they completely forgot about my order an so I waited and hour for food and still had to pay. Then today I went in to eat with a friend whose never had pho before and sadly some of our meat was green from freezer burn. Now having green meat is never appetizing and when I told the women she made it sound like it was perfectly normal, which it's not. The freezer bun means you served us old meat that has already gone bad. I'm sorry but I won't be coming here again. read more

The food was average compared to any other pho restaurants I have been too. But the service...fuccccccking horrible. The appetizers came 20 minutes after the main dishes and at one time, the waiter spilled egg roll sauce on my pants-looked at it and didn't even apologize. Oh, and also...a steak dish I ordered as well, number 39 if I can remember correctly...that was so horrible. The steak was so bloody that it wasn't even satisfying because id be chewing on one piece for a few minutes. My fiancé and I are regulars here. We come so often that a few of the staff members automatically know our usual dish, what drinks we want, and know to provide extra lime and fish sauce. It was a little difficult to give a fair review because of the inconsistencies in service and food. When we are not serviced by the staff who are familiar with us, we often have to repeat and remind them of our requests. Also, the meat-to-noodle ratio varies from visit to visit. Their spring rolls are always good though. All and all, the pho broth is the best as compared to other pho places in the area. I have worked in Riverside for almost 2 years and I have been living on my own away from my mom who used to cook home-made Vietnamese food for me for about 5 years. A lot of times, I crave Vietnamese food and I don't get home from work early enough to head out to Westminster or my mom's house so I usually settle for not-so-good or authentic Vietnamese food in Fullerton or Anaheim near my house of even worst Vietnamese food out in Riverside (and at the bottom of the list is my own home-made Vietnamese food which needs MAJOR improvement). The food at Pho Ha (both the taste and the variety that is offered) has the power of reducing me to tears. I have had the banh hoi (special rice noodle) with roast pork meat balls, I've had the bun thit nuong (vermicilli noodles with roast pork), the pho, etc. here and have always been extremely happy. The variety of Vietnamese dishes offered here makes me so happy that I only eat here once in a while as a treat to myself after a long months work (I don't want to overdo it plus, it's quite a drive from my office in downtown). I'm just a lonely, overworked Vietnamese girl from Orange County stranded in Riverside. And Pho Ha is the closest thing I have to "home" during my lunch hour. read more

The Pho is probably the best your going to find in the IE, it is full of flavor and they give you plenty of it whether dining in or taking out. Food: It's pretty good for what Riverside has to offer. I always get the egg roll vermicelli. The mango smoothie is absolutely amazing! Service: I never experienced great customer service at any Pho place...ever. This place is no exception, I get shocked when one of the servers get off of his/her phone to see my empty cup and actually refill it. Seriously, my jaw drops. Atmosphere: VERY CLEAN! Front of the house and the restrooms. Even the sauce bottles are wiped crystal clear, no dried sauce residue around the top. This place is so yummy! I love their bun bo hue & com tam thit nuong! I love how their smoothies and juices are fresh. The staff is so friendly and attentive. Bathroom is always clean, and in all, it's a good pho place! I saw so many bad reviews on here that made me NOT want to try this place out, but I ended up trying it out. We've tried 2 other Pho places in Riverside. I would list Pho Ha as the winner! This mom and pops restaurant is big enough to house large parties. The pho comes out quick and is delicious. The service can be inconsistent. If you get the older gentleman, service is slower and open to miscommunication. Getting the younger dude has lead to good service and a satisfying meal. He's a friendly dude. I've been coming here about once every 2-3 weeks for the past six months. Some of my favorites include: 1) Number One (Pho). Includes everything you want in a Pho. Broth is excellent. 2) Marinated Pork. A little strong on the flavor, but sometimes it's exactly what I'm looking for. 3) Cooked Beef. Lighter on the flavor, but just as satisfying. 4) Pork Rib Combo. I don't really understand the Vietnemese side dishes, but they have flavor and completes a meal. 5) Thai Iced Tea with Boba. I always ask for EZ Ice to get more of that sweet tea. 6) Vietnamese Coffee. I love the strong, dark flavor and indulge in the sweetness of the condensed milk. 7) Smoothies. It's hard to go wrong with their smoothies. Haven't tried all the flavors yet but guaranteed satisfaction on a hot summer day. Keep it up, Pho Ha! Working in OC, I get my Viet food satisfaction with no problem...so I go to Pho Ha with friends when they want Viet food. All I order is the Pho because all the other menu items are not that good. The cha gio (eggrolls) are not Viet style egg rolls. They are more like Chinese fast food style egg rolls filled with cabbage. The goi cuon is sub-par because the only veggies they put in them is shredded ice-berg lettuce. The com dishes are okay but nothing to rave about... If you're looking for Pho 79 type dining, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for a decent place to hang out and eat pho with your friends, you'll like this place. Service-wise...anyone expecting good service at a Viet owned restaurant does not regularly eat at Viet restaurants. read more

I am curious how many times I will use the word "pho" in this review. Anywho. This is my second plus year living in Riverside, and until recently I have always bemoaned my lack of access to decent pho in the local area. I used to hit up Pho Vinam for my pho-phix and have always left somewhat unsatisfied with my experience. Now, today was my second time going to Pho Ha, and I have to say it's been one of my better Pho experiences since moving out to Riverside. So far, I have tried the pho with steak and tendon, and with chicken, spring rolls and egg rolls. My complaint with Pho Vinam has been the soup. Not quite, whats the word, "delicate?" enough for me... It tasted lazy, for a lack of a better word. Little nuance in the soup base, and plentiful (but a little too) chewy pieces of meat. Anyway, I m here to talk about Pho Ha. The place is tucked into a little mini mall slot next to a Payless shoes store. I thought it was pretty clean with only a hint of that cluttered Asian restaurant vibe. Coming in, they seat you pretty quickly. They are friendly, attentive, and throw a menu down within the first 30 seconds of seating. The food comes out pretty quick too, but then again, what's there to do besides throw in some soup into a bowl of meat n noodles right? Not quite on par with what I am used to in Westminster, but pretty good regardless. I tossed in the usual herb/ sprout/ jalapeno/ cilantro into the pho with a good squeeze of lemon. Soup tastes clean, herby and just a bit oilier than I prefer, but flavorful. Noodles were decent and the meat was tender and soaked with the flavor of the soup. Spring rolls I thought were "aiight." I mean, hint of shrimp and the overall taste of rice paper and filling with the brown sauce dominating. Egg rolls reminded me of stuff I would get at Pho 2000 in Koreatown, but just a bit bigger. I don't think any vietnamese egg roll will top my favorite (Thanh My) but I am still open to finding one. I came back home and passed out in a food/ msg induced coma. I feel good, if just a tad bloated from the sodium. I would definitely come here again for the pho, but I think I would like to try one of the rice dishes next time. Just keep in mind that this place is cash only, but they do have one of those generic ATM's in the front by the counter. OK, "pho" was used = 12 times. Not too bad. read more

We are limited to a handful of 'Pho' restaurants in the Corona/Riverside area, but this is one of the better ones I have been to...if you don't have any problems with MSG. Unfortunately I do. I would definitely recommend for those not allergic to MSG, but if you are, like I am, then this is definitely not a place for you. No problems with cleanliness and service though. I have noticed that the price has gone up twice in a short period of time, but I guess that's because of its popularity. read more

Definitely the best Pho restaurant that i have been to in Riverside. I came here with my friends at around 7PM and i was not dissapointed. I obviously ordered a large bowl of Pho which came out pretty fast. The prices were not to bad compared to other Pho places. The meat was fresh and so was the side of vegetable that came with it. There is so much competition around Riverside for the best Pho but the one thing that separates theirs from the rest is the broth of the Pho. I couldn't taste the MSG unlike many other other places which i personally feel like they drench the entire dish with it. The chicken pho here is decent, the "medium size" is quite a bigger portion size with enough meat. I tasted the beef stew with the French bread which was pretty good. Nothing about my experience or food was good. If I was craving Vietnamese food and this was the only I would not do it :( I'm sorry but from the service to the food to the experience I say no way. I called in my order. I can't judge very much here and I hate to one star this place since I had no chance to try their Pho, but I did get the spring rolls, here is how it went.... I came in to pick up my order I called in 15 minutes after I placed it. He charged me and walked away. I stood and waited and he motioned for me to have a seat, he never thanked me or told me how much longer for a spring roll appetizer. I saw a bag wrapped like a Togo container behind the counter but assumed he would know if it was mine or not...Five more minutes go by (mind you its Monday at 3:30). I stand up and ask how much longer. he asked what I ordered. I assume since he charged me he should know what I paid for...apparently not. I motioned to the bag bag behind him and explained all I ordered was spring rolls. He opened the bag and box and low and behold...its my rolls!! I asked for extra Sambal on the side, he looked at me strange and confused, I asked for chili paste, he looked at me strange and confused. He got me a cup of chili oil (which I hate) and I left. On my way out I notice the "B" sign pulled off the window and lying down on a stack of magazines---super. I opened my box in the car to find four extremely warm not so fresh spring rolls...with get this one Sambal packet in there, so they have it, not Sriracha, Sambal packets...I wanted like four of those packets dang-it. Now the rolls are the most loosely rolled rolls I've ever experienced and while the pork n them was tasty, the shrimps were dirty and warm and I have to have heat to eat these and I had one measly packet...fail :( read more

The pho here is actually good! The little noodles and the fat noodles pass my noodle inspection. The broth is flavorful. The bean sprouts and mint are fresh. But, I'm quite conflicted on this review. UGH wish I hadn't seen it and Sonnyman so did not help me feel better by saying "It happens errrwhere" :( Prior to eating, I always wash my hands (good habit!) And in the bathroom, I hear the flush and then I witness an employee come out of the toilet with WORKING GLOVES ON...and washes her gloved hands WITHOUT SOAP and took the same nasty ass gloves back to work. First of all, Who the hell wears gloves into the bathroom and does a deed? Second of all, You probably wiped your ass with those gloves! Just went back today after years and years (yes, a travesty, I know)...just as good as I remembered it! When you go, a must-order is #44 (for a picture, just look to the front right side of the restaurant). The description is "shrimp patty wrapped in tofu on rice stick" or something like that...but don't let the poorly-translated wording dissuade you! Think of it as a Vietnamese lettuce wrap...amazing!!! The beef fried in onion vermicelli (bun) was also delicious. But of course, these two dishes are that much more rave-worthy because of two words..."fish sauce." If that's not your cup of tea, I can do nothing for you...except shed a tear or two...of pity. Staff was friendly and attentive, place (and restrooms) were clean, TV was showing Rush Hour 3, prices were more than reasonable (~$7 for huge portions!)...what more could a Vietnamese-food-seeker ask for? Open late and service is great...their pho is on point hands down. Really the only stand alone pho spot you'll be happy to visit over and over again. Trust. Cash only (they have an atm there), but that's no downfall because you can expect an awesome bowl of hot goodness everytime. Aside from their pho, the bun bo hue is truely delicious and flavorful til the last drop...slluuurrurp.Mmmmm :P The amount of soup in a medium is more than enough for one person alone too. I love love love the rich flavored vietnamese coffee here because it's not your average cup o' starbucks. Enough said. I really enjoy their other dishes as well... you really can't go wrong with anything you order. There's tons of seating and wait doesn't take long. The servers are always attentive and I appreciate that their bathrooms are always clean too. Food: Portions seem to have gotten larger. There was so much I couldn't finish it. The pho noodles were undercooked though. Considering I was the only one there when I ordered, the kitchen had time to get it right. Take your time! Service: The service has deteriorated. I usually don't expect great service from an asian restaurants but it was pretty bad today. There was only one server who doubled as the cashier and she spent the whole time on her cell phone talking. It took a while where her to get up to bring me a menu. When another party came in, it was the same. Someone from the other party wanted more limes and said, "Excuse me ma'am" like three times. He had to get up and walk into her field of vision because she was on the phone. When it was time to pay, I waited at the counter for a good while before someone from the kitchen came out to flag her down. Even then, she didn't hang up. Verdict: Probably not coming back due to the terrible service. That girl needs to get fired. I would give Pho Ha another chance if the food had been perfect but is wasn't. read more

The server was EXTREMELY rude. Didn't even greet us just pointed us to our seats and literally threw the menus on our table. We were ready to order and put our menus closed on the side of the table to let her know we were ready to order. She looked at us three times staring at her and didn't even bother coming to us so I got up and had to ask if we ordered at the table or with them. She took our order very rudely not even smiling and took the menus from our table as she threw them on the next table rolling her eyes. As for the food we got the veggie broth with extra cabbage and broccoli, food came, no extra brocolli or cabbage. Broth was extremely dissapointing, no flavor just salty. Never coming here again. There is nothing else like Pho, and this is where I come when I want to eat it. Here it is flavorful but not overpowering. After a large bowl, I am quite satisfied. There are only three stars because you will not get service. Your water glass will not be refilled; you will not talk to your server after food delivery. FAST, easy, and just delicious! I am living in Riverside for school... and I live near the campus. So there are a few pho restaurants in the area but I drive out of my way to go here when I want my Pho-fix! It is so much better than the other pho restaurants around here! The service is always quick and they are good about filling up my water. I am a fish, I can drink many, many cups of water in a sitting. The pho is delicious! I always have to order either spring rolls or egg rolls. They are so good! & I've eaten at many "authentic" pho restaurants. The special has a lot of meat, I don't ever finish all the meat, so it is plentiful!! I especially love the tripe & tendon! So good here. Fresh ingredients! YUM! Riverside suffers from a dearth of Vietnamese food, so this review has been pushed from 3 to 4 stars. The joint is owned by Vietnamese people, so you'll get the standard Vietnamese service (curt, and efficient. They won't check on you, but will quickly bring something if you request it). As for the food itself, it's also standard Vietnamese fare, though I would venture of a slightly lower quality than the average Viet food joint in Alhambra. But, the flavors are all there, the place is clean and well air-conditioned, and it's one of the few Vietnamese eateries in Riverside. If you're in the area, you won't find better, and that's why I keep coming back here and giving it 4 stars. read more
