My only complaints is they didn't have small dishes for the hoisin sauce and it was hard to squirt it out of the bottle. Also the service is fast but feels rushed. Some of the best pho in portland. Cuts of meat are on the leaner side which I really love. Broth is clear and hearty. LOVE the banh beo are super good. We killed this at our table. I decided to check it out after seeing them on Instagram and Wow the atmosphere and interior design of this place is awesome , spacious but at the same time you can have alot of privacy. I've been to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants and I can pretty much guarantee that it'll taste about the same. They'll only differ in presentation, size of serving and price. With that being said the SERVICE can make a big difference. They are busy today but I can tell that a lot of the servers didn't go through proper training. I asked for something and he seemed annoyed. Facial expressions say a lot. But again I've been to other Vietnamese restaurants that were very busy and they were able to pull it off. We went to Pho Kim the other night because our most favorite spot, Pho Hung on Powell, is closed for remodeling. Thank goodness PK is almost just as good! The parking lot is huge and so easy to park in (yeah for that in Portland!) and the restaurant itself is super clean and inviting inside...being used to Pho Hung's location. We absolutely loved that the service was just as quick. It's easy to go in, order your favorite off the menu, and have it in front of you fresh and piping hot a few minutes later. Yessssss!! The Pho broth itself was definitely oilier than PH and not quite as flavorful...but is a close second and will be our Pho go-to till Pho Hung is back up and running. read more

Just the scent from the parking lot brought a tear to my eye. It reminds me so much of my little place on Reseda Blvd back home in California. The pho was perfect, clean, tasty and the broth was so flavorful. It gets very busy so expect a wait. Flag down your server because that's just how they are here, but say thank you and tell them how good it is and they will smile back and help you. Unless it's branded as French-Vietnamese style (somewhat like Silk in the Pearl), it's difficult for me to distinguish one Pho place from another. The menus are basically carbon copies. Here, the small size Beef Pho for $7 was very good. The Avocado Shake was on par with other places. The space is huge and clean, service fast. Parking lot in the back is a little creepy, but big. Very clean, nice interior design for a pho joint. They only had a small and a large size, and they both are a little pricier than most pho places, but the pho itself was delicious! You do get complimentary tea before your meal which is always nice, and they have large screen TVs that play whatever the popular game is currently. Came here for lunch because we wanted something quick and easy because the service is usually really fast. We were seated near the back and the table we sat at had a ton of fruit flies flying around the sauces and utensils so we weren't really able to enjoy our meal because we were too busy swatting at the damn flies. I ordered one of the vermicelli noodle bowls and the BF ordered a rice plate. Ok so this place might not look the best from an outside perspective, especially when it's a block down from Pho Van, but let me tell you, Pho Kim's pho soup by far exceeds its rival. The bone broth flavor actually tastes authentic and like it's homemade rich with flavor and depth as in its rival is very watered down tasting and lacks any sort of real flavor. Not to mention the prices here are a steal of a deal and you get plenty of food for your money. Leftovers are always a guarantee on my house. Great late-ish meal discovery! We were looking for food after 8:30 and google searched for Pho Kim. Initial impressions is not impressed. I appreciated that they really focused on materials that feel a little fancier. As I walked around to the bathroom I realized how big the place is and how the structure always looked so weird outside but makes beautiful sense inside..they have great amount of seating and configurations to accommodate diff party sizes. Food is delicious, nice beef brof. Not too fatty, clear flavor, not too salty, very savory. Initially I felt the bowls were small for a Large but as I ate I realized the bowl size was perfect for my appetite. And I was pretty hungry. I always come here and get the large pho tai (steak). I wish they had a steak and meatballs option without the extra charge. The steak is usually over cooked due to the hot water and the thin slices they have. So if you want your steak to be a little rare or anything other than over cooked, then ask for your steak to be separated. The large portions here are fairly small just as with every other pho places around unfortunately. I come here because it feels cleaner and the taste is a little better. But the service here is nearly self serve. I tend to get my own vinegar onions, sometimes have to walk my tea pot up to the machine before they give me tea. And lastly, I came with a group of 4 and they gave us 3 waters and never looked back. I tend to get used to it but sometimes it would be nice if I could get some service. read more

The hu tieu here is amazing! I've never ordered it anywhere else and my mom also makes dry noodles, but this place blows it out of the water. I ordered the hu tieu with crab, pork, chicken and beef- and it basically came with everything. The dish was so flavorful. Why can't I find this kind of quality Vietnamese food in Chicago?! Also, love the service here in that once they serve you they don't bother you every few minutes like you might find at other restaurants- the joy of service at an Asian restaurant! Pho Kim is one of the many stars in the universe of pho restaurant spinoffs from powerhouse Pho Hung. At least I'm pretty sure that's the case, guessing from the faces I recognize to the menu that looks eerily similar, to the fact that the pho is just really damn good here. This space had been cursed for oh so many years. It was a Carrows many years back, and then went through a few sketchy iterations of pho restaurants before finally becoming this... In the past you had to worry about fresh ingredients due to the low customer volume, but not any more! Pho Kim gets packed to the gills at prime time. Enough to cause for a wait! This restaurant is massive, so seeing a wait for a table is impressive as hell. It took me a while to try Pho Kim out, simply because I had been burned by prior residents' offerings. However a Lyft driver one night went on and on about their duck soup here (it's just okay) so I had to stop in. I've sampled the duck soup, the chicken pho, and the beef pho, as well as some of the crispy rolls. Overall, the beef pho is the clear winner. The chicken pho is pretty good. The rolls decent. The duck soup? As mentioned, just okay. Staff is friendly and quick, but offering a level of service that's similar to most pho joints. Once you get your food you likely won't see anyone again unless you flag someone down. And you pay up front on the way out. But that's okay with me. I'm here for that deep beef broth, and they have it. Pho Kme, I should have tried Pho Kim earlier. read more

I LOVE this spot for Pho. They get hot tea to the table as soon as you are seated. They are willing to serve noodle dishes with veggies substituted for noodles. I always wanted to add the bean sprouts in my pho to heat up them well before eating. This place has the hottest temperature pho soup and that is what I was looking for. The outside makes this look like a less sketch place to get pho and other plates (compared to other spots on 82nd). They even have a semi-open kitchen that you can see in. Food is pretty good! It felt a bit chaotic in there but it wasn't too loud. We waited a long time to get any sort of drink or food order, but they bring you water right away. They were out of all soda except for 7up, but that was fine. They also give you complimentary tea. We ordered the pho #3 and salad rolls and it was delicious! It's always good to spice up your pho. They don't really check on you to refill water or ask how you're doing, you kind of just eat and have to get their attention for anything (which I found annoying). It was also a bit chilly in there, I wore a coat the whole time and I'm pregnant and usually overheated! Haha. Pho kim is my current favorite pho joint right now. They have quick and friendly service and quick wait times. I've never seen this place empty! Always get the super bowl it has such great flavor.. I just wish they weren't so stingy on the meat portions; it's always a hit or miss. Their crab in tofu wrap is so delicious, I love eating wrapped with lettuce. Definitely a spot I take the family often until a better one pops up. My suggestion is to add more meat to your bowls of pho, don't skimp! read more
