The customer service is good, I had chicken pho and honestly I've had better. The noodle portion is way smaller than most other restaurants that serve pho. The broth tastes as if lime was already in it, which I don't care for, that or it has like a super light sweet/sour taste to it. I prefer just pure chicken broth flavor. However, they do give a lot of chicken and sides (onions, cilantro, bean sprouts, lime, etc...). read more

Ordered take out and it was great. Ordered pad Thai chicken and it was flavorful, not many veggies tho but enough chicken. Ordered seafood combination pho and it was so flavorful and I enjoyed it. Order Vietnamese spring rolls, also liked those but the sauce for those tastes like nothing. Ordered shrimp summer rolls and I didn't enough them too much because I just thought they had too many noodles on there and the sauce for those was a little too runny without peanuts. They didn't pick up the phone the first time I called but the second time they did. I would try it another time, flavor was good and portions as well. read more

Cozy, quiet and clean atmosphere. Friendly staff, but subpar food. I had the Chicken Pad Thai. Been looking for a great place to get a high quality Chicken Pad Thai. This is not it. As far as cooked, prepared correctly and the way I ordered it, for the most part. I did ask for extra spicy, and there was no heat to speak of. Mostly my complaint is with the dish overall. So bland mostly, except for the sauce or oil...one of them was sour tasting. Again no heat. I've never had a a sour Chicken Pad Thai. Again, while sour it was very bland...not sure how they achieved that combo. I also ordered egg rolls. Nothing special, now the sweet and sour dipping sauce had a very good taste. However, that does t make up for the bad Chicken Pad Thai. I'll keep looking for great Chicken Pad Thai like found at Windchimes or Lantern is Columbus, OH. read more

I came here some time ago and was pleased with the food but the service sucked, so I never came back. I was intending to go to Beijing House but they are closed Sundays, so I came here instead. I ordered the shrimp pho, to change things up, and summer rolls. The broth was too sweet for my taste, I had to add extra lime, siracha and soy to perk it up, something I rarely do at Beijing House or A Dong. The service was better than the previous visit but it was nothing to brag about. This place isn't my first choice for PHO but in a pinch I guess it will do. I would visit A Dong first or Beijing House before ever come back here. read more

We just moved to the Converse area and had been struggling to find an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. We came across Pho La and were beyond happy with the food and service. This is now our new takeout place. We ordered chicken fried rice, egg rolls, hot and sour soup, combination pho, and chicken egg noodles. All amazing! So me and my family decided to try this new establishment exclusively for the pho soup. We were not disappointed one bit. First off, the decor was very clean and polished. The only criticism I have for this is that there needs to be some sort of ambient noise or music played. Eating in silence trying not to talk too loud in courtesy of the other patrons did not add much to the experience. Still though, it did not damper much. The service was very kind, helpful and fast. Spring rolls were excellent! Well done. The pho soup really was the best part. I had ordered the pho soup with steak and let me tell you.... Great lunch option. Had shrimp pho for a change and it was very good. Fast friendly service, place was very clean, food was very good. Shrimp pho was different slight sweetness to broth if you like seafood you'll like this. Broth was savory and sweet dressed with cilantro mint lime and bean sprouts can't go wrong. The food didn't have much flavor at all, my wife ordered the drunken noodles and it was mainly salt and no other flavor, she was not happy with it and told them to change it for another plate. Our waitress was upset and didn't like that she was not happy with her plate. I ordered the egg noodle which was decent but nothing to brag about . There wasn't much noodles at all and the plate also didn't have much flavor. I ordered the wings appetizer and one of the wings was raw inside. Definitely would not return here, the lady was upset when we didn't like the plate and when I even asked for more limes she seemed irritated. Then at the end they ended up charging my wife for the plate she did not eat instead of charging her the actual plate she ate. read more

Driving down the Nacogdoches looking for a good Yelp review and wound up at Pho La. So happy we did. I had the chicken pho and VN spring rolls...broth was aromatic and rich with flavor; huge bowl! Spring rolls were crisp, not greasy. Delicious. My companions had drunken noodles, pork and beef, and reported their meal to be very good. They have lived in Cambodia and Thailand for the last 11 years, so I consider their "very good" as...extra very good!! Service was prompt and friendly; not overly attentive. Prices were just right. Tried pho la for lunch today for the first time with my wife...very pleasantly surprised! It is a nice welcome to this side of town. We both ordered pho (I don't go to a seafood place & order a burger...if it's in the name, that's what you order as a rule) I got the brisket my wife tofu & veggies. Broth was pretty dame on point (we both personally prefer a bit more star anise but...that's just preference) clear and with just a bit of fat to carry the flavor. I ate over 3/4 of the bowl and broth such I hardly ever do. Plus my wife and I hardly used any hoisin and srirachi. I had enough brisket to the last bite. My wife's had ample tofu and veggies. Cool music (80's), clean, server kept drinks full, and very friendly. We will definitely be back to support this local business! read more

Love love love this place yummy food always. never have had an issue. A little pricey but worth it, the owner mrs.La is so nice and always welcomes you with a smile. Small place but it's lovely on the inside, a bit cold but that's just to me cause I'm always cold. I've ordered here a few times & I love the sesame chicken. The raspberry bubble tea is great. On their to-go menu they say, "Ask us how we can customize your order." So I decided to ask for lo mein instead of the customary rice. The server asked her boss if he would, he said no. Okay, so much for the idea of customizing my order. Super disappointed. My boyfriend got a rice dish which was mainly lettuce. I got pho and ordered sesame chicken and crab ragoons. When I paid at the front the sesame chicken was not on the bill. My husband and I ate here a total of 3 times. The first time we had some type of chicken and fried rice which was good. We also had rangoons which were the best rangoons we've ever had. The second time we went my husband had chicken again and I tried the Pho. I'm not a Pho expert but it wasn't great. 3rd visit we shared General Tso's chicken, fried rice, and rangoons. In the middle of the night we both woke up with a 911 emergency. Our meal was coming out one way or another if you know what I mean. I won't go into any more details but we definitely had some bad chicken. Needless to say, we won't be back!! read more

I usually get the combo fried rice to go and it is normally very good. I decided to switch to sweet and sour chicken for a change and as usual got it to go. It was a BIG mistake. Chicken was very tough and dried out. Impossible to chew. Plus, there was NO sweet and sour sauce. It was totally dry. I ended up giving it to the dog, who also left it uneaten.
