Took home a couple banh mi sandwiches (house special and beef). They were, by a pretty good margin, the worst banh mi sandwiches I've had (although I've only had four, to be fair.) Instead of the variety of different flavors present in the other sandwiches I've had elsewhere, these just had some mediocre meat (and, in the case of the house special, a big slice of pig fat) and an incipid slaw-like topping in torpedo rolls that were on the edge of being stale. I like this spot and order pretty regularly for pickup or having dinner with family. The owners are always super nice to my nephew and niece, they love coming here as well. First time eating Pho! Wow! We told the server it was our first time and he was SO NICE and helpful! We followed his recommendations and it was fantastic! The server told the owner about us and he came over and talked to us about different flavors of broth, and it really depends on the chef and sometimes the region of Vietnam! Delicious. The service is great. Very friendly staff . The Pho is so good. There is an enormous amount of beef and the quality is great. Don't be surprised if you're sloshing on your way out. Having been a pho newbie, I had one notable experience in mind when I entered Tô Pho. The dining area and decor are what I would come to associate with a typical Vietnamese-American restaurant. My husband and I tried a spread of different items as he has never dabbled in this cuisine before. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls with a peanut dipping sauce, which was very fresh and delicious. Although it's listed on the menu as "Vietnamese Iced Coffee", I asked if they could bring out hot coffee. Our waiter said they could make it, and I'm glad they did. It basically is a coffee that you brew over a cup with sweetened condensed milk to sweeten it. Absolutely delicious, a must try. Finally, we both had the beef and brisket pho. The broth warmed my soul, the noodles provided the base of the nutrition, and the beef made everything tie together well. It's not spicy, but you have the option to put in raw sliced jalapeños and/or Sriracha sauce. All in all, very accommodating place that have delicious food. I will be coming back! read more

To Pho doesn't look like much. It's clearly housed in the shell of a restaurant past, but that's hardly enough to keep a true foodie away. Aside this lack of ambiance, To Pho has flavor, variety, and a waiter named Hoba:) Seated at 6, and greeted promptly. As I often do when I first meet my server, I asked a variety of quick, somewhat random, menu related questions and, voila, I met my waiter for the evening and his great personality. I love spring rolls, so that's where I began. I'm also, always, super hungry. So I asked my wonderful guide what his favorite appetizer was, and ordered the crepe. The spring rolls arrived, fresh, and paired with a perfect sauce. The two were almost gone when the crepe arrived. It looked like an egg quesadilla, or a taco shell made of egg, housing flavorful meat and sprouts and paired, as the rolls, with a delightful sauce that lightened it up. Oh, and you eat it by wrapping it in a lettuce leaf! Try it- it's a remarkable melding of color, texture and taste! Main entree was Pho with brisket and steak, wonton noodle soup, and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. The portion sizes are immense, and, while a valiant effort was made, I wasn't successful in my attempt at cleaning my plates. There was enough for two, Meg-sized meals!!!! The Pho was delicious, from broth, to noodles, to fresh jalapeños, basil and bean sprouts. Chinese broccoli was cooked to perfection and seasoned with garlic and oyster sauce. Not that there was room for dessert, but there also wasn't a distinct dessert offering in the menu. It's not a great first date, it's the kind of place you bring your friends, old or new, to enjoy the food and company. Everything said about this place is true and more. I came here for my standard pre-race pho dinner. It settles my stomach, provides a bit of protein and lots of salt, all of what's needed for a race. The portion of the P05 I picked up was huge and brimming with sliced steak and beef balls. It was flavorful and plentiful, my favorite combination. The spring rolls were also giant and tasty. I really like the peanut sauce here, too, which was creamy and tangy, but not overpoweringly spicy. I'll be back! read more

Alright, I guess my picky Asian food taste buds aren't that far off base since the overall rating is 4 stars, which is what I would give this place. I pretty much agree with everyone (read latest 10 reviews) and the one final star could be easily earned if they had only serve up more veggies to go with the pho special and more broth. Anyone who is into noodle soups gotta try the Taiwanese Beef Stew Noodle Soup. It is as authentic as it can be as if you were in the middle of the Shilin Night Market in Taipei Taiwan. The spicy soup has such a great flavor that I did not want to drink any water to dilute the sensations on my taste buds! The Taiwanese Gua Bao is also quite authentic and flavorful, including the steamed buns that has a nice soft and chewy texture. I learned that they recently had hired a genuine restaurant chef from Taiwan and so all the Taiwanese and Chinese dishes are guaranteed authentic. The owner is Vietnamese and so no doubt about the Vietnamese dishes there. Having been to Thailand more times than I can remember, I cannot vouch for the Thai dishes. True Thai dishes have at least half a dozen spices which are very hard to find in the States. Overall good service and relaxed atmosphere, befitting for the very reasonable price range. read more

If you love food that make your taste buds sizzle, you have to try this out! 5/5 - My dad ordered pho, and he simply adored it. He kept commenting on the plethora of flavor. 5/5 - My mom ordered pad Thai, and she was crazy for it. Everyday on my drive to school I go past this place and I think about coming in and trying it. Last week I finally did it. It was 5pm and the restaurant was pretty dead except for 2 other tables, 1 that included a screaming kid. After I was seated I got a whiff of something that smelled like a dirty mop, but I proceeded to order anyway. I ordered Pho Ga, the serving as most pho was very generous. The chicken in my soup tasted different, I dont really know how to explain it other than a little gummy and thin. The smell of the dirty mop never went away and never really made me feel comfortable eating my food. So the final verdict is: Viethouse will continue to be my go to spot for pho, nothing around here has been able to top it on taste or cleanliness. read more

I came in hungry looking for some solid quality Vietnamese in the area. I kept things simple and ordered the Bún bò Hu (spicy beef noodle soup). I asked the server for it extra extra spicy, since most places will dampen the heat for an American. I was not disappointed. The soup had a great balance of sweet and savory, hints of lemongrass, and of course loads of chili paste floating on top as desired. The sprouts and mint toppings were very fresh. There is nothing satisfying than a big bowl of pho anytime of year. And for the price here you can practically eat here every day if you want! The lunch special comes with a spring roll, which comes out super fast so you can keep the stomach from growling too much. But you're really coming here for the Pho. I really do not know what spices are in the soup, but its pretty damn near perfect. Plus you don't have to drive to Argyle street in the city with a place of this caliber out here. Together with its sister restaurant, House of Pho, To Pho has taken the Northwest suburbs by storm. I have been especially impressed with the banh mi sandwiches. Dedicadent amounts of meat upon a french baguet with lots of spicy jalepenos to boot. I also enjoyed their version of pho. The downside is their delivery zone is very strange - it is mostly industrial areas such as Motorola, the pizza factory, and Harper College. As a hapa Vietnamese, I will attempt to let my inner Asian do the talking... I have to say that when I first looked over To Pho's menu, I laughed because it's not all Vietnamese food. To Pho serves a mixture of Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai food, which I guess appeals to a wider audience than just Vietnamese. The prices are pretty on par with other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, and their portions are big for what you get. Another plus is that they offer a couple of online coupons, just in case you think that their prices are too rich for your blood (although if you can't afford $7 for a heaping portion of pho, maybe you should be bringing your lunch to work in the first place). I ordered the pho tai lunch special and the pork belly gua bao (comes as a 2-pack) (as an afternoon snack). Had I been thinking with my Vietnamese side instead of my empty stomach, I would have realized that the pho, even a lunch portion, would be more than enough to satiate my hunger and that the bao would end up as leftovers, but sometimes you just can't say "no" to your stomach (at least mine...it's very convincing). After the 10% off coupon, my total was $10.35, which is not too shabby, if you ask me. What's more, I was told that my food would be ready in 10 minutes, which meant I would have to hustle to get to the restaurant in time. I must have had "hungry" written all over my face, because the friendly cashier smiled at me & said "pickup order?" even before I had a chance to get to the counter. I handed over my lunch money & was merrily on my way. I've never ordered pho to go, so I was fairly impressed that everything came in its own container (veggies in 1, raw meat/noodles in another & broth in a third & a bonus container of hoisin and sriracha sauce for a little kick). The only condiment that this perfect package was missing was lime, but I let that slide. The broth was quite flavorful and a little salty, the meat was quite fresh & so were the veggies (no limp bean sprouts in this pool). There was so much food that I hardly ate half before throwing in the chopsticks. Ten bucks got me 2 meals and a bao snack for me & a bao snack for my hungrier half to enjoy when I got home from work. I came in to try a lunch special since this place had such great reviews and there isn't that much great Vietnamese food outside of the city. I got the L9 pork belly and it was a huge miss. I don't expect Momofuku quality or anything but the meat they used was very low-quality. It actually went into the trash and now I'm left hungry. They do give large portions though. My garbage can is pretty full. Lol. I also got a Thai Iced Tea which was average at best, very one-dimensional in flavor. I'm kind of pissed because they made me spend 10+ bucks in order to use my credit card and with that amount of cash, I could have gone to Toasty Cheese or somewhere else that uses high-quality meat. 4 stars my as*. If places like To Pho rate 4 stars on Yelp, then places like Toasty Cheese should rate 10 stars. I was tempted to give it a 1 star but I like to give second chances... Some places can really mess up Pho, but this place sure doesn't! I've been here about 3 times when I am craving Pho and I happen to be in the area. My boyfriend and I always order the fresh spring rolls (2 for $4) and either order the house special Pho or the combination fried rice. Both are very excellent dishes and come in extremely large portions. Even though I feel like I ate a lot of the mean, it always ends up looking like I haven't even touched it. It's not pronounced "foe" but rather "fuh," as in "I got a flat tire on the highway, and when I checked the trunk, I was missing my tire iron...FUUUUUUUUUU!!" There you go! So, you see places on the Internet that take advantage of the word, like "Pho Sho" or "Pho King" or, my favorite, "Pho Shizzle." A semi-local place here has "Pho U." So, when I saw "To Pho," oh I'm sorry "Tô Pho," I was trying to figure out what it's supposed to sound like. Tofu? Tuhfuh (as in What "TuhFuuu")? Too Far? Well, I googled it, and it's pronounced "TToe." It's a "hard T," which English speaking people won't get, but I think most Asian languages have it. That didn't sound clever either. So then I googled the definition and "Tô" means "fill." Fill Pho? Full of Pho? FillFuh? Gafillfuh Fish? Anyway...I didn't even know this place existed until a friend of mine updated her Facebook status and then I realized I wasn't very far, so I hit it up too. PHO Guess this is why we're here, right? As usual, I get the Dac Biet (which is essentially like saying, "The Special"), which has everything in it. It had thinly sliced steak, tripe, tendon, and maybe one or two other meats, and my favorite, Meatballs! The broth was great! It was flavorful, and even just a little sweet. Similar characteristics to Tank, but not quite as flavorful and herby/sweet as Tank Pho. However, it is definitely better than any other pho in the Schaumburg Metropolitan Area. I went with a friend, and they gave us a pretty good plate of sprouts and the other trimmings...which is unlike Asian Noodle House that gives you like 2 sprouts and then charges you $1 for another plate. The broth also didn't cower and taste like sprouts when you put sprouts in (like House of Pho). The broth also didn't feel greasy like Asian Noodle House sometimes gets. I was really looking for suburban pho that could be almost as good as Tank, and I found it! FRESH SPRING ROLLS These are actually pretty good! The rice paper wrap is a little thick, though, like House of Pho, which I'm not a fan of, but the spring roll really tastes fresh! It's not crazy basil-y like some places, and you can actually taste the cilantro pretty well, which gives it its fresh taste. FRIED SPRING ROLLS Nothing much going on here. It almost looked like the inside was burned. Had a decent flavor, but just didn't do the trick like some other fried spring rolls I've had. TOO FAR TÔ PHO? It's amazing at what lengths I go to be lazy. Of the 3 phos near me (Asian Noodle House, House of Pho, and now Tô Pho), Tô Pho is definitely the best, but it's also the farthest! House of Pho is definitely the weakest, but it's also the closest, as in right across the street! You wanna know which one I go to most? House of Pho! Not only is it right across the street, but it's on the way home from work too! Having said that, I will occasionally get a craving for REALLY GOOD pho, and I'll get a buddy or 2 and drive all the way to Viet Town to get Tank. At least I know that for the cost of just a little flavor, I can save about 45 minutes of driving and 30 miles of gas! I will definitely be back! read more

I recently made a special trip out to visit To Pho, heavily influenced by their Yelp rating. I came right as they opened for lunch over the weekend so I didn't have any problems getting a table. To Pho is definitely a nice place to grab some tasty pho. The service was very friendly and attentive. The interior of the restaurant gave me kind of an old-school diner feel. I ordered pho with sliced steak rounds and beef balls (which is my go-to when trying new pho places), as well as their spring rolls. Both were very good and tasty; very much liked the broth here. Was in Chicago for a business trip. As with most trips, if I have time, I always try to look up yelp to see what's close to my hotel. Found this place that's between ORD airport and my hotel, and it had good rating. As the name implies, I was expecting a Vietnamese restaurant. When I went in, the first thing I noticed was the Chinese music they had, and they had Chinese dishes on the menu. The owner and most workers are all Chinese. But since I was craving Pho and Bahn Mi, I decided to stick to my original plan and just ordered the combo on Pho and combo or house special on bahn mi. This was yesterday (Monday) around 2p, so there were not many people. The order came about 5min later. Bahn Mi If I had to rate this separately, it would be a 1 star. First off, the meat they used I'm pretty sure are bologna, along with some slices of roast pork. The veggies were ok, but it lacks the crunchiness or perhaps the freshness. Then there is the mayonnaise, which was very sweet. Not sure if they added some sort of sweetner, but sweet bahn mi with bologna was not what I had in mind. Pho For $8.5, I expected larger bowl. OK, I'm from TX, so perhaps the sizes here are larger, but that was OK. One thing I noticed was the soup didn't have much cilantros if any, and all the they really should have cut the tripe as it was just a large clump that I had to chew and chew. The flavor didn't pack the punch as it was very generic. Overall, I was a little disappointed as yelp had high review for this place. Perhaps their Chinese dishes were better as they were mostly Chinese workers, but I went there because of their name to suggest it was a Vietnamese restaurant. My husband had been meaning to try here and so we went. Exterior is clean and easily to see when you're driving by. Hostess and waitress is very friendly but not that attentive. I ordered pho while my husband got the short ribs. To my dismay, their pho was so small compared to other places I had been to. The short ribs was okay. Expensive compared to the portion they give. We we're done eating and still our waitress is nowhere to be found. We had to wait for pretty much five+ minutes for her to come and then a minute or two for her to bring the bill.
