The Lunch specials are a great deal and excellent! the Pho is the best i have had with lots of fresh basil and jalapeno. I personally like the PhoGa ( Chicken) but the beef is delicious too. Used to get take out here regularly because it was conveniently on my way home from work. Decided to bring a friend here for a "quick" dinner. They sat us in a corner booth and our food came out fairly quick. No one came to check in on us and ask how we were doing. Not once. So we finished eating and sat...and sat...and sat. Finally I flagged someone down and asked for to-go containers for the rest of our soup. She brought one. I asked for another for my friend, which she brought. Another person came to drop of our check and promptly cleared my friend's soup before she could wrap it in her to-go container. So with our money sitting in the middle of the table and no waitress around, we sat some more. I flagged someone down again and explained what had happened. We sat some more. Finally, someone came out and said they made her a new soup. That's was nice, but the amount they filled the to-go with was less than she had left in her bowl. I know this because we had the same amount of soup left in each of our bowls and after I had filled my to-go, it was almost full, hers was less than half way full. We sat some more. I was in disbelief at how much we were being ignored. I finally got up and brought our money over to the area where the 'Pick Up' orders pay for their food. Our quick dinner turned into an hour plus of sitting and waiting. This is the service industry. The quality of your food alone will not keep your customers coming back. Your attitude to them will. I'm going to give 5 star on the Pho. That's what you should come here for. This is the ideal place to be as fall begins to show it's cooler side and you're looking for a bit of comfort. The soup is well seasoned and clearly, all ingredients are fresh. They additionally offer some of your other Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese dishes which are nothing short of delicious. People have commented on the portions. Yes, they are large (with the exception of sandwiches). The soup bowl will be about as big as your head is round. Wife and I have never had vietnamese food, so we have no idea what we are talking about here. That aside, this stuff is GREAT! By coincidence, we both got the Bun with grilled pork. It was lukewarm rice noodles with lettuce, cucumber, cilantro, ground peanuts, grilled pork pieces and some dressing with an egg roll. Wow, what a tasty, light and refreshing meal! I ate all of mine and enjoyed every bite. My wife saved half of hers for leftovers the next day and loved it the second time too. We will definitely be going back. Guaranteed. Three very hungry ladies ate plenty with leftovers for at least another meal for each of us...with tax and tip the bill was just under $30. Flavor: Classic Vietnamese offerings and flavors. My house Bahn Mi was packed with three styles of pork stuffed into a huge French bread loaf with typical trimmings. Tasty and filling, for sure. This is going to be part of my series of checking out lunch spots in the north burbs, since I'll be visiting my grandfather while I'm in a state of unemployment... so let's begin, shall we? Grandpa is in a less and less mood to eat meat, but I still wanted to take him for a good meal, so I pulled up the trusty Yelp app and found me a list of potential spots to check out for my weekly visits! Marketed as a Vietnamese/Taiwanese restaurant, they have a mix of dishes from banh mi to pho to gua bao to rice plates. It's got a lot of options, so I figured this would be a good place to start. We ordered up two huge bowls of lunch special pho (which comes with an egg roll btw), one appetizer of spring rolls, and one order of pork belly gua bao. Here's the skinny: Spring Rolls - Simple, tasty, and fresh. I think I was expected more flavor to the shrimp itself, but with the dipping sauce, it's pretty damn good. Pork Belly Gua Bao - While the pork belly isn't as soft as I'd like, the veggies, peanuts, and sauce make up for it a bit. Decent dish, especially for $4, but I don't think I'd get it again. Pho lunch special - Not bad! $6.25 for a huge bowl of pho, one egg roll, and all the nice veggies to go with it. Seriously, the soup alone will fill you up good. Service was fast, friendly, and non-intrusive, which is always nice to find! Total bill came out to $24 AFTER tip. Considering we got tea, two appetizers, and two big bowls of pho, that's not too shabby! Verdict: Quality of the food really is three stars, with the fourth star from service and affordability. So I came back here the other day to try out something besides the pho because of all the rave reviews and tried out the spicy beef noodle soup and the mapo tofu. The mapo tofu texture was great because they use that super soft silken tofu but the sauce left something to be desired. When I asked them if they could add meat such as minced pork to the dish I was met with a blank stare so I just took it sans meat. Most other places will add meat or have a meat version of this dish for those of us who don't eat like rabbits but not To Pho. The sauce was almost clear and watery and didn't taste as rich as I am accustomed to so at 8 bucks a pop I was sorely disappointed. The spicy beef noodle soup, on the other hand, was fantastic. Definitely up there with the best in the area and it was actually spicy. Fresh veggies and noodles that weren't overcooked makes this dish an instant favorite at To Pho for me. Maybe I'll try something else next time but for now I'll stick to the cheaper eats (besides pho) at Asian Noodle House. read more

Sliced beef is just a tad well done for my taste. Perhaps next time I will ask them to put the raw beef in just before they bring it out to me. The food & service are wonderful! I have not once had a problem and they've got the best Vietnamese sandwiche's around in the area! They offer more then just Pho and Vietnamese food too, which is nice for those who want to eat with people who like more variety when choosing to eat Asian cuisine. I am giving it 4 stars for not a great service but then it's a small place and it was crowded when we went there on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. I would highly recommend the Chinese broccoli, the spring rolls and the schezwan egg plants. The pork chop was good and well cooked, the grilled prawns lacked a bit of flavour. I have absolutely fallen in love with Vietnamese food and Pho is by far my favorite. I had been longing to try it after seeing it featured on many of the cooking and travel channel shows. After frequenting a restaurant that only serves Pho, I was happy to find this place because of its large menu. A nice big bowl of Pho Tai Nam was absolutely delicious. My wife and I shared this as I was also able to try another Vietnamese specialty, a Banh Mi sandwich. I had the house special sandwich which consisted of pork belly, pork roll and ham served on a French Baguette with mayo, cucumber, carrot and daikon with cilantro and jalapeño. I don't love spring rolls so I'm not the best person to ask. We both had some Pho with brisket and round, and it was AWESOME. So satisfying and delicous. To Pho or Not To Pho...that was the question. Unfortunately, this soliloquy isn't as timeless as Hamlet. I'm always excited when a new Vietnamese restaurant opens up relatively close by, albeit skeptical, especially for the fact that not many Vietnamese live in that area compared to Carol Stream for instance. Went in with the family. We sat and looked over the menu...mostly Vietnamese, so good start. They even had Bahn Xeo, Bahn Mi and Bao. I was becoming more curious to give it a shot - until I hear the staff talk in Chinese. Definitely not Vietnamese. Can't say about the chef, so I still reserve some hope. Ordered some fried spring rolls (egg rolls) to start. They were fried nicely. Crispy and not overly greasy. The filling was a regular pork/cabbage mixture. Average flavor profile. Used the dipping sauce but it might have taken away flavor from the rolls. Sauce was too heavy on fish sauce, and not balanced as a good sauce should be. Ordered Bahn Xeo (crispy pancake) as this is usually a good gauge as to what to expect for the rest of the food. Unfortunately there were many issues with it. Firstly, it was over cooked, dark and greasy. Next, they used what looked like to be sliced pork that was cooked in a grilled pork chop glaze. That along with the heavy fry completely negated the light, crispy taste that this dish is known for. The dipping sauce suffered the same balancing issue as the fried spring roll sauce. At least the lettuce was really fresh. For my kids, we ordered chicken fried rice. It was a large portion, but under-seasoned and greasy. Frozen carrots and peas(?) scattered among chicken and sprouts. Man, how I dislike the use of precut frozen veggies. Good for the kids I suppose. They enjoyed it. Now finally my pho and my wife's Taiwanese noodle soup arrive. For the pho - Accoutrements averaged out in freshness. Sprouts looked great, basil and jalapeños, not so much. They only gave one skinny stalk of darkening basil. I dump all that I do into my bowl (minus sriracha initially) and take my first sip -- not bad, despite lack of greenery in the broth. There was a little green onion and no noticeable cilantro among others. The bowl looked simplified, or under represented. Had the brisket and flank for the meat, and one was ok, the other was the worst cut of meat I've ever had in pho or otherwise. Thick, rubbery fat outweighed edible meat in the flank. The noodles were over done and had a softer texture than I prefer. The broth itself was decent, but somewhat greasy, and not nearly as deeply flavorful and balanced as those pho sitting at the top of my Chicagoland pho list. At least there are still a couple places within 20 minutes south of me that satisfy my cravings here in the burbs. My wife's Taiwanese noodle soup was spicy, and the beef was quite tender. Personally the beef almost tasted like it was beer braised and put in a Tan Tan noodle-type flavored soup, not pleasant in my opinion. My wife is Japanese and liked it, however, she commented that the soup was red, but if you look closely beneath the red layer, you will notice the broth looks diluted. Definitely not like another nearby restaurant's rich, flavorful Taiwanese noodle soup that we simply love. My wife might give To Pho another go, but I'm not sure I can - unless I try something off the Pan-Asian section of the menu. Disappointing though for the Vietnamese dishes I tried. read more

I used to go there every week with my family and spend $60 to 80 every time. The last time I was there, I really had bad experience. The temperature outside was 87 degrees and they had the door open instead of turning on the air conditioner. So I asked waiter if he could tell the owner to turn on the air conditioner since I was sweating eating hot Pho and some bugs were flying in the restaurant. I saw the waiter was telling the lady owner what I asked, but the owner totally ignore my request and did not do anything or even try to tell me anything. Since then I never go back there anymore. I was hesitant to try this restaurant for two reasons. The major reason is I hate cilantro...tastes like soap. I'm super cautious to never eat even a bit because my meal and appetite is then ruined. I honestly didn't know if they would understand. My second reason is the little strip mall in which it's located. It definitely qualifies as the Schaumburg version of ghetto. But after moving my sister and her partner into an apartment across the street, we read the yelp reviews and decided to give it a go. I'm so glad we did. The restaurant was very clean and the service perfect. Two of us got the noodle salad, mine of course sans cilantro, and one fried rice. It was delightful. Let me say first that I would give this place five stars for their Beef Pho and their Spring Rolls. Both are outstanding. The service is also highly attentive. The ambiance tends to be a little too diner-like -- bright and brassy and Formica-clad. Not everyone wants their dining atmosphere to be like Denny's. Softer and more subtle might help. If you venture too far from the Vietnamese staples, the results are less impressive. The Chicken Curry had a thin and flavorless sauce and the chicken itself was meh. Not good.
